If you want to put custom boot animations on the padawan jb rom then you need to do this...go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063280
Download the 2 zip files bootanimation4u.Samsungani.only.zip and bootanimation4u.
After you got those two downloaded, go to play store and install busybox (even if you already have one, install a fresh one)
Boot into recovery and flash the bootanimation4u.Samsungani.only.zip first, then flash the bootanimation4u.zip second. Boot your phone back up. Find the bootanimation that you wanna run and push it into /system/media with any root explorer. Rename your boot animation, bootanimation.zip. you will have to make sure you select the tab to R/W in order to successfully rename the zip. Once you got it named bootanimation.zip mount the tab back to R/O and boot back into recovery and fix permissions under advance tab. Reboot and you should see your new custom boot animation...

If your gonna flash padawan jb v2 then do not install the phase kernal because it is already included in the v2 rom build. Padawan jb (the first one) did not have the phase kernal included. Just a little F.Y.I..

Can someone post the ICS boot animation that can be flashed with Odin?
the kernel needs a change before we can do this. once this is done you can just use rom manager to change out the boot animation or just swap the file
I thought I changed the kernal with da G s root etc?

Kinda Noobie here
hello,
2 month back i brought unlocked i777 from ebay. It got rooted and unlocked with Android version 2.3.4, baseband i777UCKH7 and kernel version 2.6.35.7.
It got super user app (so i think its rooted). But the CMW is not installed. i checked in recovery mode (it show some android recovery).
So now i m thinkin of installing the latest AOKP ROM (with siyah kernel) but not sure wat to flash first.
should i root again first (root + CWM) then install AOKP. then change the kernel.
or root then kernel then AOKP ?
also i m confuse which root method should i use for installing CWM in gingerbread .

Install kernel with cwm.
Boot to recovery and install aokp rom
Done
Every rom install contains a kernel that works with the rom. Doesn't matter what you had before.

No, the leaked stock JB 4.1.2 is not deodexed ma8, for the deodexed one u can try 'Neat Rom' which is based on the leaked JB4.1.2
u can flash 'Philz' kernel thro ODIN to root ur phone with leaked JB4.1.2 though
to get root flash this kernal.
>PhilZ-cwm6 - Stock i9100/i9100P SAFE kernel with CWM6
you will not see cwm in the apps, it is part of the 4 boot. press power and then restart, it give you the option to boot into recovery.
which thread did you get the rom from. If it is a custom rom it is mostly deodexed. Stock rom is odexed.
for ROOT You can flash philz kernel via odin-.tar.md5
via stock recovery -signed.zip
Leaked 4.1.2 is Odex .Mod for both odex & deodex in Thread =[MOD][LSJ][v3.9]PURE_INK+MultiWin+Ripple+SS/SR{TITLE Cant Say Any More}

hi guys,
i tried to flash paranoid android, latest version. everything worked fine. after that i flashed gapps and the newest siyah kernel.
After that, my S3 shows only the s3 text and then nothing. The biggest problem is that the cwm is gone. But i can go to the standard download mode.
I need help to get the device running again...
I tried the following:
- flashed the stock kernel via odin to get back cwm - no sucess
- flashed the stock fw - no sucess - hangs now at the samsung text
Thanks in advance
flash the tar version of your recovery of choice through Odin. or format data from the stock recovery.
either way, it's only because you don't read. siyah doesn't support 4.2
R: [Q] CWM deleted, no Boot, paranoid android, siyah kernel
I believe before flashing gapps, if you booted up the phone, youre supppsed to wipe the cache: did you do that? If you did your gapps package might be broken or the kernel (check its the s3 version, which is a smaller version than the s2 one).
Try redownloading and reflashing everything (except paranoid android, if you know i does work when the phone starts up...)

I already tried to flash a recovery through odin. after flashing the device is rebooting. Then i have to remove battery because it hangs again. After That CWM isn´t installed at all. Maybe you can give me a Link of an other version?
How do i format data from stock revovery?
flash PhilZ recovery through Odin and then get into recovery.

But how do we know philz (if thats his name) will keep updating his recovery? Wouldnt it be safer to stick with clockworkmod?

you still don't know what spamming is, do you?
then don't use any custom ROMs, because how do you know the dev will keep updating it? makes no sense whatsoever, stop confusing people
R: [Q] CWM deleted, no Boot, paranoid android, siyah kernel
That's not at all the same thing...custom roms change from one to another but a recovery needs to be solid, the thing holding all of your stuff together in the safest way possible. Of course i could trust a rom developer, but since android updates oftenly i will probably change rom just as often...not the same for recovery. Recovery needs to stay put, solid, stable, updated and trustworthy.
How can i know this philz guy wont make any new versions of his recovery after a month to come, or how can i know if i choose to switch to clockworkmod again because philz stopped development the backups will still be compatible?

PhilZ recovery can make backups compatible with CWM and TWRP. You can change your recovery any time.
and good luck being on stock.
actually, having an updated rom is more important than an updated recovery. recovery just needs to backup and restore to be useful.
R: [Q] CWM deleted, no Boot, paranoid android, siyah kernel
Yeah but i dont wanna miss faster backups...if they update i might miss it...cause philz doesnt have its own rom manager app...even though i prefer it to cwm.

u can install any kernel by using d correct processs...
1) First root and unlock bootloader of ur device using flashtool.
if u dont have flashtool download from http://androxyde.github.io/
2) after that in flashtool folder (c:/flashtool) u ll have drivers install drivers for xperia u, fastboot and flashtool drivers (u need to tick mark in boxes for desired drivers).
3) Its always better to have backup, install CWM and take take nanandroid backup by entering CWM.
Moving on to the installation process
1) Copy the rom zip file to internal storage.
2) through flashtool enter fastboot mode and flash kernel that ispresent along with the rom zip..
3) after that enter CWM and install ZIp.
4) let the device boot properly....... and if prompted restart the device..
5) Download and copy the kernel of ur wish and den flash.
6) before flashing just wipe cache and dalvik cache.
7) incase if u face any bootloop enter CWM mode and go to advance menu and clear cache and dalvik cache.......
I suggest u to use JB rom by Devswift its d best rom available among so many.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284394
I have given the whole process as u said ur in stock if u already rooted and unlocked just follow installation processss..............
Happy Flashing.......
Press THANKS if i have helped....
And also THANK every one who helps u in this forum.............
In step 2 ,u said to flash kernel that came with the rom.
Then u said install any kernel of ur choice after flashing rom
Well why can't I directly flash the kernel of my choice in step 2?
What's the logic?

Kernel with CWM (any version) ll be used no pblm wid dat...
If u have any pblm wid kernel given in d zip den.....
1) download a custom kernel with CWM recovery and install it by doing all wipes...
2) now open the rom zip and remove boot img or kernel elf what ever file it may be and repack the zip and installl zip
3) if u dont remove the kernel file from dat zip i ll nly will get installed during installing rom zip
And during installing custom kernel from zip file ur device may undergo bootloop(stuck at boot animation)....
Den dont panic just go to CWM recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and restart it ll start up normally.....
Hope:good: it helps....

There are no pre requisites for flashing a kernel.
Just flash a stock kernel for stock based roms and a CM kernel for CM based roms,
Also check if the rom you want to flash and kernel you intend to flash are based on the same firmware version for optimum performance....
Happy flashing.!!!:good:
