I love love love CM 10.1 but the GPS is not working for me. I flashed all three nightlys and nothing..
What is the most stock android experience, with the most functionality at this point in time? Can someone please suggest a rom?
Thanks!

i have flashed both the clean rom 1.0 and hyperspeed 1 &2. i am currently on hyperspeed 2 and cant really complain. There haven't been any bugs i've run into. GPS locks with out any issues.
I'm on the Clean ROM and so far like it best. I'm liking a coupe of the new Samsung goodies so I'm staying TW for now. No bugs i can find on the Clean ROM and its the best battery life I've seen so far (less then .5% per hour battery drain sitting idle) and no wakelock issues.
HYPER!!!!
I think by stock Android puma means aosp.
None available are really pure stock. They all have something like themes or added options

From what I hear, all the AOSP roms on jfltevzw have gps issues. From my experience, CM is the most stable right now. If GPS is a huge issue for you, you may want to return to TW until a later time.
All stock ROMs are the best for the members using them
No one but YOU can decide which is best for YOU

Hi All,
My SGS3 is due for delivery this week, thought I'd have a look at what roms are on offer. But I'm finding the choices a bit confusing.
I've currently got a Moto Defy (hate it ) and on that I've had Miui, MS2, CM7 & CM9. I stuck with CM7.
My dilemma is, what SGS3 rom will give my phone the widest range of its features? Which rom has the least bugs? What are the differences between each rom and stock? (as not each rom has a list of features)
I know that this will be about personal preference, but I'd just like some info!
So I'm appealing to anyone running a custom SGS3 rom, to tell me what's good about the rom you have. Or if you've tried one and gone back to stock let me know.
Thanks

hi,
ive been running blackstar rom with siyah for 5-6 days now and can highly recommend it, its amazing and no issues for me. Never been a big fan so using a stripped back bloatware free aosp rom is my personal preference. the performance is streets ahead of stock rom, my battery life also greatly improved over stock.
Ive also tried omega rom and wanamlite, both good roms but blackstar easily the best for me. Fixes some issues over stock rom such as, auto brightness and inreasing ringtones. Plus as it rooted you get all the benefits of overclocking and undervolting. Try it you won't regret it
There is no best ROM.
Every ROM has it's pros and there cons.
Just review Change-Logs and check out which one you like more.

Closed, there is no such thing as a "best rom", thus best rom threads are considered OT.
Also, post questions in the Q and A section.
Thank you.
I need the best, most working, stable ROM & kernal combo available for my fassy, I prefer TW though? I use the phone as a daily driver, mainly I use almost every option that stock offers on a day-to-day basis so it must all be functional... And customization is always a great thing, please comment with any helpful info on this. Any helpful info on this is much appreciated, I dropped my EvO in the lake a week or so ago and had to go buy my Fassy. I am not new to rooting or ROMing phones, but I have found it is most helpful to get others insight on these types of things before trying EVERY ROM for a day or so lol? I am running Baked JB right now, but as I said I'm a little partial to the TW OS, and battery life isnt as fantastic.
Thanks in advance,
Ben :silly:
Try GeeWiz 2.8.1 with its own kernel. It's still Gingerbread though. There aren't any TouchWiz ICS or JB roms out there. You could also try AOKP M6 and install a TouchWiz theme from the play store.

back in the day I was partial to super clean 3 with the stock eh03
kernel (though I can't recall exactly why . Something about the behavior of the backlights?
I'm now running cm10 and loving it. Everything works.

I'm currently running (pa_fascinate-4.0-BETA-20140103.zip) it's a KitKat 4.4.2 ROM. GAPPS are (pa_gapps-modular-full-4.4.2-20140318-signed.zip). It runs great with no Lag. To install you need to use Team Win Recovery.

superclean was the best during my days with the fascinate with the stock kernel. good times
I like Touchwiz with its multiwindow and s-pen functions, is there a rom with version 4.2.2 if not which rom is best of the 4.1.2 versions? Thank you in advance! :good:
there's no 4.2 tw rom for n2 yet, it'll have to get ported from the s4 if it's going to happen before the international n2 gets updated, but that's a lot of work.
as far as 4.1 goes there's lots of great fit stable rom's right now. meanbean ice is my favorite but beans, jedi, and clean are really popular.
if you enjoy multiwindow, you might want to try minitab or moon (being released soon) because they're note 10.1 roms ported to our phones so they have floating windows (multiwindow on steroids).

I wish someone could port it from the S4 because I'm debating going back to touchwiz. I like the features and customizations from 4.2.2 but the battery life is terrible and I miss all the touchwiz features...

Try a different kernel, I'm using Plasma and easily get what I did with TW of not better.
As for porting..... That would be a huge pain in the ass to do, porting from the international Note 2 isn't terribly difficult but porting from another phone is. Also if the Dev just did a straight port them you would have no S-pen features at all. It would be extremely difficult to get a good working version of 4.2 ported without S-pen features, with S-pen features would take even longer because the Dev would have to figure out how to add it in without breaking everything. Really don't expect to see a fully functional 4.2 TW ROM with S-pen support until it has been released on the international Note 2.

I actually have been using Plasma.
I've tried everything people claim fixes it. I've flashed the latest modem, been running matrix/plasma for months, updated the play store, etc.
The android OS still constantly takes 50-60% battery or more and the phone rarely goes into deep sleep. I just flashed Beans 18 and restored my LS2.5 nandroid about 10 minutes later. Touchwiz is ugly as hell, so I'm just going to suffer through the battery life in hopes that it magically gets fixed.

Have you tweaked with the Plasma settings? If not check out this thread:

Also Android taking up that much battery isn't the ROM it is an app keeping you from going into a deep sleep.

I'll look at that guide, but everyone says that it's a problem with the rom. Not saying it's specifically this rom, but 4.2.2 in general. I mentioned this problem to my friend and he installed a 4.2.2 rom and had the same problem. He's got a different phone, I forget what it is. I even googled it after switching to aosp and it's a common problem on tablets with stock 4.2.2 as well.
I stopped reading about it but last I checked, nobody really knew wtf was causing it.

That's weird that you've heard that. I can easily get excellent battery life out of 4.2, it depenfs how you use your device but get greenify, get matrix or plasma whatever the hell he calls it more and learn how to tweak a kernel for your needs, this case being battery life.

Well it's specifically 4.2.2 and cm 10.1 builds that have the problem. My friend had cm 10 and had great battery life, but when I told him about my phone and 4.2.2 he flashed a cm 10.1 ROM and his battery life went down as well.
They talk about it in the cm thread too.
But I tried tweaking the voltages just like in that guide and as soon as I make any changes the phone locks up and I have to pull the battery. One time it actually messed up something on the phone because it got stuck in a boot loop and I had to restore a nandroid.
I've tried in stweaks and in the native performance settings and it always ends up locking up and I have to pull the battery.

Damn that sucks, processors are so touchy they really do vary phone to phone. I don't follow CM so that makes sense. The best you can do is start undervolting one step at a time and seeing how much your phone can take. I think this CPU is so capable you could probably keep a max of 3 cores online, and take the max clockspeeds of the CPU and GPU down a step (so 1400 for CPU, i forget what's right under 533mhz for GPU).
That's if you really want to be on CM. There's a lot of great 4.2 alternatives out there that are more capable and stable than CM.

Seeing as how the AOSP builds are all based on CM it would be a widespread problem. You have an app that is eating up your battery instead of allowing it to go into deep sleep. Get wake lock detector or a similar app from the market and let it run.

Try the touchwiz roms. Every one of them is solid. The only issues are gps on the international based builds and thats an easy fix. They are all fully functional and smooth running. No need for that stock crap lol.

Okay, I have been on Jelly Beans ROMs since practically build 1, it seems. I have never tried out another ROM on this device. Something here lately has really gotten my attention though, and that is the "Halo" usage from ParanoidAndroid ROMs. I spent almost an hour last night reading through the bazillion pages on the Original Android Development tab for this ROM (PA). There were so many mixed reviews about what works and what doesn't on the latest release that I am not sure what to think.
My question is, ultimately, is there a build of ParanoidAndroid for VZW Note 2 that is "mostly" bug free (GPS, graphical issues, etc)? I even looked at JellyBam, but there is even less of a clear message with that ROM. I need something for a daily driver and really don't want to have to do work arounds for the things I typically do on my device (Phone Calls to Netflix and all between).
Anyone have any ideas? Like I said, the only build of Paranoid I could find was the newly released one that looks to be built off Android 4.3 (Cyanogenmod, I assume). If that is the case, from what I have read, there are a few things that aren't tied up completely on it. Older build of Paranoid maybe? (Where do I find that?)
Thanks for the help guys.

I'm running build 3.99, have been for a month now. Out of 10 I give it a..... 10. There's really no bugs at all, I hardly get graphical issues but they do exist. I got a GPS lock and you can by getting a lock in a tw ROM in maps, then immediately flashing as you would a normal rom. But honestly this is my favorite ROM I've had on all my android phones so fast and stable and great battery life. Hope this helps.

In regards to gapps, is the general rule of thumb just to use the most recent?

Yeah basically. Just make sure you download the one for 4.2.2 not a 4.3 gapps
Okay, got version 3.68 installed and proper gapps. Haven't had time to really dive in to get everything set up. Everything is running smooth and quick. The only issue I have at the moment is that I can't get a 4g connection.
Any ideas?

Hi Forum
Just curious for your opinions on what the fastest 4.1.1+ ROM is. Also another one I'm curious about is the most stable.
All opinions are welcome!
Thanks in advance!
Xda is a development site and doesn't want to be an opinion site. Your encouraged to try all the roms yourself and see what works best for you. No two devices are alike so what works best for you on your device won't necessarily work for others.

This is a forum.. a Q/A forum in fact.. opinions are welcome! I have the same question.. I've tried several roms and so far they all have been pretty stable yet all have been bigtime sluggish/laggy. All that I've tried were 4.4 roms. Are the 4.1/2 roms any better? If I use the overclocking at min 1000 max 1500 I get pretty decent performance but stock is just terrible. I'm gonna try a 4.1 rom now but if anyone has any daily drivers that are peppy and stable from 4.1 and up I'd appreciate opinions.. as the op would I'd assume.
Ok.. so I ended up giving a 4.1 rom a try.. Liquid-jb-v.20-rc7 to be exact and a HUGE difference in speed.. everything is peppy and smooth at stock speeds in fact not a huge difference from my LG G2 in cruising the system and the internet via Boat browser. I tested Cameras/GPS/Bluetooth everything is perfect working order.. and after a few hours of use no fc's or reboots. Battery life .. only time will tell but my battery is old and has always been terrible. Only other thing is terrible charging speed.. even with the fast charge option in the settings. If anyone has any experience with this let me know. So overall this rom i give :good::good:

In my humble opinion so far trying a bunch I've come down to Liquid smooth for 4.42 Kit Kat.
If that is where you want to go. That is the latest version only. With Polluti0n's wonderful patches.
Mine using "Uber". Fairly smooth fairly fast. Not to great on battery, but still "tweaking" away.
I've tried so many Roms and versions of those Roms I thought I would save you some frustration.
I've had a lot.
I moved my service to TMobile and am now using Flapjaxx's ROM with wifi calling and couldn't be happier. This is the stock ROM with all the S-Pen apps and wifi calling and is smooth as butter and fast with no tweaking needed. I actually like Samsung'g skin.
A very good and stable ROM is bigfau's blackstar ROM and if it had wifi calling, it'd be my daily driver.
A gave all the KK ROMS as spin and hats off to the devs working on giving it to us but they all require too many patches and some still get FCs, etc.
i'm in the same boat as you guys, looking for a stable rom for my sisters Gnote, tried cm10.1 and aokp non OC. CM keeps restarting, and aokp is pretty sluggish. i will give liquid JB a try, you guys think that i should maybe try an ICS rom mayeb it will be a bit faster?
I have been running Unofficial AOKP 4.4.2 Rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609761. It is the most stable 4.4.2 rom I have used. Other roms always crash during youtube and video playback causing a full reboot. I like Unofficial CM 11. But the gallery crashes if there is an mp4 file in it. If you don't care for AOKP. AOCP is by far the best Jelly Bean ROM. (4.3).
Well for me i flashed the canadian rooted base version (its crazy how the att rom is overbloated ) with the phaze kernel and the multiwindow mod . That the best experience i ever had no random reboot like the aosp roms and no lag ( I use the seeder app that reduce most stock jb lags )
