Could I get rid of beats audio - HTC Rezound

I don't have beats headphones, and it completely sucks. Are there any roms which will delete it, and give it "normal" audio instead?

You should be able to turn it off, even on the stock rom.

Turning off beats does not return audio quality back to "normal" or "flat" how some would say. It actually makes the low and high frequencies lower than flat, causing sound to appear weak. That way when you turn beats on, the equalizer boosts those high and low end frequencies, which has a greater impact than If it just rose the audio from a regular flat response.

I've deleted the "Sound enhancer" app with Titanium Backup to remove any sound 'enhancing' stuff from Sense. If you do that you can also remove the "HtcBeatsNotify" app as it won't be needed anymore.
I'm pretty sure deleting this app is sufficient to disable Beats because the sound I'm getting is the same as with a CM10.1 ROM which in theory should give an untouched output.
I've tried playing a bit with the "snd3254" executable in a terminal, to try to force Beats back on to test back and forth, but it gives an error if I try to change DSP modes.

Try to see if the equalizer of the GS3 is set to normal or else change it back to normal.
Also, if you want, there are plenty of kernels that offers improvements to sound and boost of volume.
See more of "Siyah kernel" "Francesco Kernel" and "N.E.A.K".
You need to root to flash the kernel.
i haven't had/heard any audio problem in mine S3 compared to the pc sound with headset. (Mac).

Beats settings?

Hey guys,
I was wondering It seems that other phones have come with beats settings? is it true that ours only has an on/off option? if so i must say that is quite ****ty... or maybe i just cant seem to find the settings, fairly confident i have searched everywhere in this phone n this phone does have quite a few hidden settings so i may be wrong
Thanks in advanced!
Hmmm, I have never seen any beats settings on the phones I have used. Are you sure they were Beats settings and not a mod of some sort that was added in by a developer?

there are no beats settings persay, just audio options, beats works only when headset is plugged in
they're called enhancements(audio)
There are no settings, just an on/off when headphones are plugged in.
Beats works through bluetooth as well.
Thanks for clarifing. i guess im just used to dsp manager from cyanogenmod on my dinc, it probably was a modded version where i saw settings for beats!
X - Rezound owner here.
beats is an on/off switch.
u can really tell when using the beats headphones.

It's a significant difference my car too (using wired aux cable). The sound may actually be better than the in-dash CD player.

Beats is just an equalizer, making it sound better. It makes bass louder, as most small devices have little audible bass, and slightly tweaks existing settings to make an overall better sound experience. If your car stereo doesn't have real equalizer settings, just the treble/bass/middle that most do, then yes, your phone probably would sound better.

Viper4Android car audio

I have a RoadNavi S160 (Android) installed as a head unit in my car, stock speakers + undearseat subwoofer ( Connected to the rear speakers ). I have flashed the unit with rooted Kotix ROM which has a preinstalled V4A.
I've managed to get it to work with PowerAmp, but thats where it ends...
1. Which settings shoulld i be working with? (headset? speaker? bluetooth? USB? - or all of them? )
I have tried to play around with them, but i am totally lost! - only the speaker tab makes a difference to the sound.
2. The IRS files don't seem to make any difference to the sound ( I can change them, and driver status shows as processing )
3. With the equlizer only(no IRS) the speakers sound either too flat or too distorted
I am not after a highest quality audio, but would like to hear a nice punchy bass and decent vocals ( without cracking speakers! )
Thank you all
Can you use PowerAMP (the app itself?)
If yes! Well Poweramp uses something called "DirectMusicControl" so it will only use PowerAmp no matter what you set in Viper4Android!
Go to settings --> Audio --> Enhanced Settings (in my case the last point on Audio) --> First Entry is the "DirectVolumeControl"
Klick the box so it's unticked and play some music with poweramp while you open up Viper and set everything to your liking!
WARNING: Maybe you should reset ViperSettings to default if possible not that you blow away speakers
Thanks for the reply!
I have already managed to get those two to work together and since posting my initial question I've figured out the way to use the IRS's ( turns out I copied a folder full of files into the kernel, instead of extracting just the files into the existing kernel folder ).
But I must say that I am struggling to get it working as well as it probably can.
The settings within the "headset" tab seem to have no effect whatsoever, and only the settings from the "speaker" tab seem to make a difference.
Having said that, no matter what IRS I use, it just sounds wrong ( too quite, too loud, not enough bass or too much bass )
Thinking about it - is there a way to default v4a to set parameters within the headset tab instead of the speaker?
This would enable me to have a greater controll ( and possibly sort my issues ) over bass, clarity etc.?
Thanks

How to disable Histen sound effects?

Every time I plug in headphones, the Histen sound effects enable themselves and give me an awful echoey sound. I just go into the Histen settings in Sounds and the effect turns off without me turning it off, as in entering the menu makes it remember that I have the effects off and they go off. But the next time I plug in headphones, they're on again. Any way to disable the effects permanently?

I had the same problem. I haven't been able to disable Histen but by selecting Natural instead of leaving it on Auto I don't get any crazy effects or end up feeling like i'm in a cave!!
Just set every value to 0

Go to HiVoice app and disable all permissions.
Next time when you insert headphones it will ask for permissions just select dont ask again and deny.
Your problem will be solved.
I don't have a HiVoice app. In Settings > Apps, HiVoice has no permissions enabled.

Clear app data of HiVoice and try again.
If you are rooted simply uninstall. Works well for me
I also have echos when connecting headphones. Restarting the phone fixes it temporarily.
I don't hava HiVoice app.

Histen sound effects ruin audio whether you're using Apple EarPods or AKG K702s. Terrible echo. Unless your headphones are really colored out of the box, there's no need for major EQ or sound effects. Any software messing with the sound is a downgrade.
In the same place the built in audiochip like good. I have headphones kz hybrid two-wheel. Pretty good sound.

That is so true, I tried it with Sony earphones and sound is very good, great bass and very clear sound.
I got original huawey headset..Model AM 185.altbough sound while you play music is awesome... If you try to watch any documentary and you listen a clean voice... It sounds like the person talks from a tube φ100. ( Plummers will understand)
Tried sony headset same. Philips same. So yea hands up and i don't know what else to say. Histen is good for music but it should deactivate somehow when you dont need it cause even in normal the sound is tweaked in a really bad way
for anyone finding this thread later, I got huawei p smart 2019, uninstalled 56 apps that I otherwise couldn't via adb (no root, it's even super easy to reinstall them, can recommend) one of them being the histen (com.huawei.imedia.sws) however, your maximum volume will be decreased significantly. it is barely enough for me so that alone would not be such an issue, but what is really annoying is that sometimes when i plug in headphones in the morning and play music i get 0.1 sec of louder volume (louder than max if you have it set on max at the moment) which promptly goes down to what is now "normal". reinstalling the histen gives you back the proper max volume, but uninstall and reboot will bring it down again. seems like there's no win for me..

Built-In equalizer?

Hey all! Just bought the 7.1 from B&H for $349 to replace my Moto g5 plus which is full of issues. One thing I will miss is being able to install V4A (Viper equalizer). I can tune the settings and make my Bluetooth to car connection sound a hell of a lot better than actually changing the settings on the head unit. Was wondering if there was a stock (or built in) EQ for the Nokia 7.1 that I can use to tune Spotify, YouTube, etc. or if I'll have to download a crappy EQ app off of the play store. Is there a built in EQ, or even better, a way to install V4A on this phone without TWRP? Thanks!

There is a way to change the Bluetooth codec in the dev menue, not the same as an EQ but wouldn't you want the signal to transfer as true as possible and use your speaker source EQ?

Yeah I got the phone, saw the stuff in the devs. To answer everyone's question, there is a built in EQ, but you have to open Spotify to use it (not sure if GPM or Pandora work). It's not terrible, but certainly not as good as V4A. And to respond to your question, I don't think the signal transfer is really touched with an EQ. The EQ adds bass and lets me adjust my mids to the way I like them. Like I said, my head unit is garbage. The EQ practically does nothing to improve bass or mids. At first I thought it was the speakers but it isn't. Thats why I wanted a built in EQ on my phone, until I get a new head unit at least.
