Wifi Tether gives me the BSOD.. - Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE

What the title says, it makes my laptop go blue screen every time it connects to my LTE. It works on anything other than my laptop, and my laptop works on any other wifi router other than my phone. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate. It says the problem is Driver IQRL not less or equal.. any suggestions on how to fix this?

I had the same problem, I think it's an issue with Intel chips and newer Intel wifi drivers on Windows.
My solution was to disable "Wifi Encryption" in Wifi Tether. I just use Access Control instead for now. That's the only way I know of.

Thanks for the suggestion but, sadly it immediately went blue screen. Like before it would wait 30 seconds and then do it. I hate having to use my mom's wifi tether. But one option that works but it costs money on the play store it's called Klink, and it USB tethers for you. I don't wanna fry my battery. Oh well.

WMWiFi Router And Sprint Touch Pro

Simply asked, will WMWifirouter work on the Sprint's Touch Pro? Or will it at least work as well on there as it does on my Mogul? (in that it will allow me to use the "Sprint PCS" as a teathering option instead of getting sprint's phone as modem service.)
I took a different route: Tether via USB cable which takes a lot less battery power to do than running WiFi. Yeah, cables are "old school" but they can be more practical at times.
Anyway, I can now tether my Sprint Touch Pro via a USB cable and do Internet sharing without subscribing to the "Phone as Modem" service. If you're interested in how I did that, visit THIS THREAD.

Short answer yes it works. Longer answer it works but you still have to do the ics hack first. There is a new version out there if you register it lets you do more things. It can work with the cable as well. The cost for the liscences version is 30 dollars us. It is worth it the old free version is also still out there. They both work I have used them. Tho the old version did seem to have some problems. Not sure if it was the phone or vista causing the problems tho.
I can confirm that the lastest version 1.25 works perfectly on the Sprint Touch Pro. It does allow you to choose "Sprint" as the network instead of "Phone As Modem". Also, with the latest version, there is no need to do the ICS hack. Just install, follow the prompts, and everything needed is setup for you.
I hope that helps!
So you said you got it to work without doing the ics hack? Their website says you must a working ICS and sprint by default turns that off. I have noticed I can't get ICS to work thru usb anymore since I installed it. any way the important thing is it does work. 15 day free trial in fact they request you test with the free trial before you can buy.
Let me add that though the latest version of WiFiRouter DOES indeed work perfectly with my TP and ANY computer with WiFi capability there is one drawback. After about 45 minutes of use, the TP is almost scorching hot on the backside. I limit my usage to make sure I'm not going to fry any of the internal components on the phone. Just my two cents.
WMWifiRouter is a great program. It works great for almost all of the computers that I have that I would want to have connected to the internet when I am on the road
EXCEPT
my lenovo laptop. it will not see the network created by wmwifirouter, no matter what I do.
wmwifirouter can only set up ad-hoc connections, and not infrastructure connections.
so make sure to test it out before you go and buy a licensem just to find out that you can't use it with your primary laptop
opening the keyboard and setting up so it is kind of sitting up helps it stay cool. It also has a temp reading in the program if it gets to hot it shuts down the connection anyway. I also cheat and hook up to my playstation 3 using their standard cable for the remotes and it charges my phone while it getting me online.
To combat the heat I made a "cold box" out of a small (5"x5")square shipping box and an old computer fan. I just set the phone inside it with the back removed and faced down so the bottom faces the fan. It never over heats.
I use a similar method to the cld box..a small desk fan with the back cover off and the TP stays cool

[Q] Portable Wi-Fi hotspot tethering, slow and constant disconnects

Upgraded from SGS to SGS 2 over the weekend and love the new phone. The only thing I am having troubles with is the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot tethering. If I use USB tethering it works perfectly but if I use Portable Wi-Fi hotspot with my computer it is slow/clunky and often reverts to "limited connection" on the computer and then under the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot heading on the phone it comes up with Error (in blue).
Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions or idea's?
For all of those who wish to post "Just use usb tethering" I will thank you in advance so you don't have to post!
My preference is to use Portable Wifi hotspot.
There must be some data network problem with ur network carrier,,,mine is working just fine,,
but it happens when 3g strength is bad,,
Thanks for the reply but if this was the case then the internet on the phone and with the USB tethering would be the same and they are not, so I am pretty sure it is just related to the wireless tethering. Hope this helps explain why I think you are on the wrong track. Cheers.
I've been meaning to post about myself too. Tethering sometime is very slow. But when I tried download using the phone, the speed its great. Must be software related problem.

Yes I am not the only one there is a thread over at the Vodafone Community (AU) site that a couple of other people seem to be having the same problem and it appears Voda have acknowledged there is a problem.
This happens to me too. Using Villainrom 2.1. Same problem when I was using Litening 3.0.
USB tethering is ok, but WiFi keeps disconnecting. Didn't have this problem with my old Galaxy S.
Also, do anyone else notice that when USB tethering, charging doesn't work very well.
Samsung and Voda have acknowledged that this is now a known issue and they are working on a fix however there is no ETA at the moment.
This problem seem to have gone away after I flashed to KG3. Will continue to monitor if it still happens.

Hey that sounds great. Could you let me know in a couple of days how it all goes.
Just one other thing, through testing found that the first time it connected it worked perfectly but reboot the phone (and in this case several laptops) and the problem started.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Been using WiFi hotspot on KG3 past couple of days for many hours at a stretch (need to keep charger plugged in, of course). Running beautifully. No disconnects or hangs. Sometimes with 2 or 3 devices connected to it.
Same to me!
I have 2.3.4 KG2 with CF-Root and have no stability issues on Wifi hotspot tethering.

Problems using Mac with Hotspot

Is Android Tether compatible for use with Macs? It works just fine with my Windows laptop, but I prefer using my Mac and while my tether connection says it's connected, the pipeline shuts down after only 5 minutes or less.
It seems that I remember a very long time ago reading that Macs are not really tetherable, but I can't be sure. It wasn't something I was interested in at the time.
I am paying the $30 for the unlimited Hotspot.
It has nothing to do whether its a Mac or a PC. I use my tethered wifi on my Mac all the time (I don't pay for it). I've used it a little bit with my Dell laptop too and it also has worked fine, so that's not it

I've had Verizon re-provision my hotspot and I still get only a couple of minutes online with my Mac before it loses connection. Airport SAYS it's connected to my TB, but nothing moves online. Must be a setting on my Mac somewhere because I don't have that problem with my Windows laptop.
Any suggestions?
Install Win7 to the Macbook. It'll run cooler and faster anyway, plus you'll have better software options.
Alternative reply:
Install Ubuntu to the Macbook. It'll run cooler and faster anyway, but you'll have worse software options.
Edit: Why are you paying for tethering if you're using CM7? Why are we even having this discussion?
If you're using Imo's latest 5.1 kernel that's what broke your tethering.
It most likely is something screwy with that mac in particular but considering the entire OS has less options than my droid, it shouldn't be terribly hard to narrow down. If you're running lion try downgrading to snow leopard, it's not uncommon for the latest fruit releases to be overly fruity when it comes to communicating with industry standards.
Works perfect on mine

[Q] Wifi Issues HP Touchpad

Hey guys, I seem to have a problem with the WIFI Connectivity. It connects to my network, i can browse for a while and use it, and then it drops, disconnect and I have to manually reconnect it myself. I'm using webOS 3.0.4, but this also happens in android Alpha 3 CM7.
is there anything i can do to fix this? it also happens while watching videos, it stops loading the video every couple minutes.

Samething happened to me while running Alpha 2. The solution I saw on a different forum was to change the channel of my wifi router. Apparently, channel 4 or 6 produces the best results. I was on channel 11 and I got frequent dropouts. I switched to channel 6 and haven't had a disconnect since.
Edit: if anyone can tell me why this works, I'd be much obliged.

I was on Channel 11 and Wi-Fi didn't work quite well.
At first I thought it was because of CM7...when I switched to Xron's version, still had the same thing since its based on CM7.
What I mean by "didn't work well" was if I were to switch the Wi-Fi off, and turn it back on...it wouldn't re-connect...it would show "connecting", then "disconnected", and repeat. So I could not turn off my Wi-Fi at all, which didn't really matter to me anyways...
However, when I switched to Channel 4 on Wi-Fi, it allowed me the Wi-Fi on and off. I have tested this more than enough times and it works fine.

I'm using a Linksys WRT54GL with Tomato firmware.
Right now, I just tried rebooting to see if the Wi-Fi would still connect, and indeed it still does. Before, it would just sorta freeze whenever it tries to go into the wireless section.
I never said my connection drops, but I'm saying that IF I disconnect it manually (as in uncheck the Wi-Fi), and I connect it again, it wouldn't let me.

[Q] Tether DNA's WiFi connection to USB

So, I'm moving. And my PC doesn't have a WiFi card in it for the time being. Ethernet is out of the question.
I have an unlimited Verizon 4g plan... but I heard they don't let you tether for free anymore over their network with unlimited. (I can use WiFi root tether, but that's beside the point.)
I've tried using the Settings => Usb Tethering option, but stock sense doesn't let you tether without a 4g connection enabled.
Any ideas? (Preferably something without dumb limitations, like no https etc, but beggars can't be choosers.)
Thanks!

I use fox fi and with the pdanet application on the pc you can fake your image hiding your tethering, doing it the way the guy above states does not work on stock anymore normally and would certainty show your usage. on pdanet just use stage two usage hiding uh is hard to explain and I'm on my phone I'll update my post in like 10 minutes showing what I mean with pictures on my pc K.

Thanks mate. I didn't know PDA used my phones WiFi. Thought it only worked with 3g.
Doesn't the program not let you use https and stuff?

Definitely works and will do the trick for now. Thanks man.
The free version kind of blows... I go through the allotted data in like a minute.
Do you notice pretty low speeds, or connection drops when the phone goes to sleep? Do you know if I need to keep it always screen on or something? Or is this the level 2 screening?
Wish there was a way to do this natively without having to do all this, but will work in a pinch. Thanks!
it works by using a advanced proxy type thing( its complicated) but i notice no difference with it on level 2 and none and witht he phone off i do have a fox fi key though since i use it for work a lot. with the free version i did notice it was slower but i had that version so long ago they had it where it was unlimited but only 180KB/s so it was slow regardless, this was a OG droid so long time ago. its still cheaper than getting hard line lol and an one time only payment, i used to have issues on windows 8 but their newest pdanet client for desktop fixed those. i get around 20mbps in the field generally when working.
hope this helps explain some things.

Thanks bud, yeah it helps. I'll probably end up buying it eventually... WiFi Tether [Root] works fine for WiFi, but for some reason FoxFi scares me. I feel verizon will strip my unlimited away from me while using FoxFi. Not sure why I feel safer using the WiFi root tether app though.
they should be able to tell your tethering with a normal non proxied app. In reality though they can allways tell if they cared but unless your use more than like 6 GB idk they would care if your plan is expensive enough lol.
Yeah, I wish there was another way than pdanet to do it. Wish there was a way to tell if the speeds are just my phone or the free pdanet version.
how low are the speeds on speedtest.net on pc vs on the app on the phone, mine are almost same.
I was.... "Testing" the download speeds through pdanet. Its about 1000Kbs slower through pdanet.
