Archos G9 80 Turbo won't boot - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I need help!!
I wanted to reset my device (it has became too much irresponsive lately) and probably I did something wrong.
as far as I can remember from the SDE menu I did a Format Storage - Reset Android & Storage, then never booted since then... it keeps on being stuck on boot animation.
I downloaded a couple of Rom but when I try, with Update Firmware, to copy the archos.ext4.update into the disk my pc sees from archos it gives me "not enough space" (indeed, that archos disk is 300mb and all the roms are bigger than that)
What can I do? :crying:
Thank you!

Ok, solved by myself.
Just downloaded last official firmware from Archos (4.0.7) and did a firmware update.
Then just placed the rom .update in the /mnt/storage and rebooted

[Q] Can't access device directory, no clockworkmod, & no viewsonic birds

First off, thanks to all of the developers and everybody for putting together all of the great info in these forums. I'll try and keep my questions concise (but give enough details).
I got my Gtab in the mail on April 15. I was able to successfully install ClockworkMod & CyanogenMod with no issues. I did not have a micro-sd at the time and when I plugged my gtab into the computer it seemed to install a driver and I was able to access my gtab's device directory--fast forward to yesterday.
Since round 1 of installing the Rom went better than I expected, I thought I would try to upgrade to the latest version of CyanogenMod or try out Vegantab. When I attempt to load ClockworkMod, I receive the "recovery key detected", the Android on a black screen no viewsonic birds before that, and then just standard cyanogenmod boot-up.
So I thought I would install Clockwork again. When I plug in my Gtab, I can only access my micro-sd card that I purchased last week (no device directory). I moved the files manually (via Astro) to /mnt/emmc as I thought this was the device directory....still no clockworkmod. Astro wouldn't let me via not giving me the option to copy to the / directory, not sure why. Under storage settings, I have an SD card, Internal Storage, Additional storage /mnt/emmc, & additional storage /mnt/usbdisk (not sure if that is relevant or not)
Just wondering how I can get clockworkmod installed again or how to move the recovery and update.zip to a location it will recognize? Seems odd the Viewsonic Birds don't greet me anymore as well. Am I stuck in some sort of boot process?
Just kind of wondering where to go from here as I would like to try out different roms. Thanks in advance!
i have the same problem on my gtab with VEGAn-TAB GE RC1
All Right! I got this whipped. I had to use NVFlash to boot into ClockworkMod. Moral of the story. Do not touch anything that says RomManager!!!

[Q] early boot messages

Hello,
I had UrukDroid 0.7 working on an Archos43. It was booting but now it can not boot from the microSD card. Is there any way to access the serial console or display the boot message to get an idea of what may be wrong?
If you remove the microSD card it will eventually boot the original Android installation.
You have Urukdroid 1.0 ?
I don't know whether there is a function that show you what goes wrong...
Im not sude, but maybe theres an app for this, but if you install it on normal Archos Android Os
it dont "record" the boot of Urukdroid
Moved to proper forum

[Q] Installed Uruk, tried to go back to stock...Now I have BIG problems

All I wanted to do is go back to a stock rooted device with ext4 support.
I had Uruk 1.64 installed. All seemed to be working, but it was slugish on my 101 G8. So I reformated device, tried to drop in the latest AOS firmware from Archos and all I get is "Update Failed (1)". I removed the SDE, Formated Device and tried to install the firmware with the same message comming up. It automatically boots to the recovery menu now.
Is it normal to have to format the 101 with fat32 before I copy the new AOS? Whenever I "Update Firmware", it formats itself under the recovery menu then forces me to format it under Windows 7 x64 so I can copy the AOS firmware to the 101.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. (I have also removed the SD card and tried it that way as well)
Try to download the firmware again. This error is often caused by corrupted download.
Or by people that don't look for the right filename.
It really has to be "firmware_archos_android_gen8.aos" not "firmware_archos_android_gen8(1).aos" or anything else.
I already downloaded the image 3 times and renamed it proper (without the numbers)
Can't figure this one out
make sure you've downloaded firmware that matches your device, not 70b etc
I downloaded the firmware on the Archos site for "Archos 28/32/35/43/70/101 internet tablet". I have the G8 101 16gb
can you borrow an USB cable from a friend? maybe you've hit it somehow and it causes data loses. there 0.01% for it to happen. try to fit it well. out of ideas...
I will try a different computer and cable. I was able to copy files to the 101 however. I will give it a shot.
I think it has something to do with the Urukdroid installation on the MicroSD. I was not able to update the firmware; however, when I inserted the micro SD with Uruk on it, it booted back into Uruk. I have since formatted the MicroSD and now I can get nothing to work.
Tried a different computer, download and cable to no avail. Any suggestions?
Is it normal for Windows to format your 101's drive before it can mount it? It makes me do this everytime before I attempt to update the firmware.
SOLVED!!!!
Had to change the file type to "vfat" in the Format menu. I was able to then update the Firmware.

flashing issue stucked at 26% with error Download_vmlx1_failed

hello fellas!
i am having a serious issue with my novo 8 quadcore dicover tablet.
recently I flash my tablet to custom firmware with TWRP with the help of action PAD tool ... everything was perfect before and after flashing although I am using it with the custom firmware/rom. I connected it to pc and transfer some data to it.
at the same time my personal usb was also connected to my pc...i accidently formatted the removable storage of my tablet to fat32 filesystem instead of formating my usb drive using windows xp....
i am still having some issues with this custom rom so taht's why i decided to reflash my tablet back to its stock rom but unfornately an unknow issue come up in action pad tool that is DOWNLOAD_VMLX1_FAILED and now it stucked at 26% with the mentioned error...
few questions I really need to ask:
1.why this Download_vmlx1_failed occur on action pad tool whenever I try to flash my tablet?
2.what is the by default filesystem of internal sd card?
3.How could I flash my tablet back to its stock rom?
4.How to format internal storage using TWRP
and one more thing i.e. once I formatted my internal storage to fat32 then I lost access to my internal storage it says blank sd card unknown file system
and also unable to format
please help me..........

ICOO iCou D70G2 Softbrick -- Please Help

Hello, I rooted my ICOO iCou D70G2 and managed to softbrick it into a loop at the Android messages. I bought another, identical tablet, and would now like to clone the new one into the old. I would very much appreciate complete, newbie level instructions on how this can be done.
Here is what I have tried so far.
I looked for a stock ROM for this device, but can't find one. The closest out there I could locate is for a D70Pro II. I don't know if it will work, and in any case, I still can't figure out how to flash the old tablet.
The old tablet does go into recovery mode using vol up and power. I tried putting the Pro II flash on the micro sd card (tried both img and zip, separate times), but the tablet isn't seeing the micro sd card in recovery mode with the update from sd card option. It shows a folder /sdcard with some seemingly empty subfolders, but even if I take out the micro sd card it shows the same set of folders and says choose a package.
I tried using the Intel USB drivers with adb, but the device isn't recognized in recovery mode by adb. Rockchip Batch Tools 1.8 also doesn't see the device, although it seems to load the ProII img file correctly.
It would be really great to get this old tablet to work. I don't have any CWM, TWRP or any other backup software on either device at this point. The new device is new from the box and not rooted.
