[Q] Update to JB lost USB mass-storage - HTC Desire X

Hi, I'm on the standard HTC software, so no rooting, no custom ROMs, etc.
In the most recent update (a few weeks ago), the device was taken from (I think) Android 4.0.4 to 4.1.2, so from ICS to JB. However, in doing that, the ability to access the SD card via USB mass-storage seems to have vanished and has been replaced with MTP. This means that I can no longer access the filesystem on the SD card via USB, which I do with Picasa, DoubleTwist, as well as the audio system in my car.
HTC tell me to install the (rather useless and bloated) HTC Sync Manager, but this doesn't give me what I need. They say there is no way to go BACK to the previous version of the OS.
So, my wise friends, I'm asking if anyone has any idea as to how to solve this problem and again get back to being able to see the SD card as a USB mass-storage device.
Many thanks for your help.

Possibly that can work, but it's not going to help me in the car! I need the SD card filesystem to be visible, as it was before.

The thing is, that HTC removed UMS completely on JB in favor of MTP. MTP allows you to connect your device to a PC without the need to unmount before removing as it uses push / pull commands directly. So if your device in the car supports MTP, you are good to go. Otherwise, you can try to connect it via 3,5 mm audio clinch cable if your car radio has an auxialiary port for that.

well, theoretically you CAN go back to ICS, but you have to unlock your bootloader (might be a problem when it comes to warranty), flash a custom-recovery (for jellybean hboot 1.25) and flash a custom- or stock-rom based on ics.
i recommend ckpv5's myONEdx RC4.0 FX+, imho its the best and most bug-free ics custom-rom.

Airdroid. Search it on google play.
I never used usb mount storage anymore to access and manage my sd card until i found airdroid

Ok People I really need your help badly,I am tired of this.My mediascape does not work anymore, no media apps works. No apps displays the media I have in SD card.I can individually open music, video and picture using ES file explorer or play music using MixZing and Muiu Music player but the library is empty. The gallery apps also does not work.I re-flashed it using generic firmware, still nothing. And now I noticed that even ring tone does work,it lets me choose any audio as ring tone but when call comes its just default beep.I don't know what else to say or to do.I tried a lot. Please help if you can, if not don't give me crap about read before posting or where to post or give any comment.I have once contacted SE support and they have said that I done something to the license. Please help me, I don't care if I cant play media, I just want to change my ring tone at least.
What firmware are you on?
After re-flashing the generic firmware did you make any changes of any sort?

I'm going low-tech here and asking you to make sure your USB cable isn't still connected to your phone and computer.
If your USB cable is still connected to your phone and computer your phone will not have access to your sd card.
If it isn't connected we can at least scrub that off the list of possibles.
i hav somethin like tis sort happened to me once
it was the memory card problem
try to reformat ur memory card

[Q] no access on internal storage

Hi guys,
I have a very delicated problem with my HTC ONE. Last night I began to unlock my bootloader to install a root. That worked quite well.
So I did everything after the manuals and it worked fine. BUT then I tried to move the trickdroidrom onto the device and it wasnt possible.
Since then I am not able to access my mobiledevice neither from windows nor from mac. Anyhow i managed to install a filemanager and my htc one told me then that "no sd card is mounted"
I really have no clue how to manage with this. I am a beginner yes, but i already used google and the forum search but i only find things that tells to to at least put something on my device to go on...
soo pleeeeease! i need your knowledge to get my phone work again :/
thank you in advance
PS: What I already tried is: mounting all the folders via recovery. but sdcard did not mount and of course external sdcard (probably because there is none
PPS: I tried to download trickdroid via htc one and it says Phone Storage is requiered to download trickdroid:7.5.0.zip

Can't Access SD Card after Cyanogenmod 10.1

Hi guys, i searched the forum before making this thread so hopefully im not spamming like an idiot, heres the deal:
I recently switched to Cyanogenmod 10.1 from Stock ICS Rom on Amaze 4g, before switching i was able to see both my internal and external sd cards when i plugged the phone to windows, they would show as "Htc Storage" and "External Disk", however after i installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 whenever i plug in my phone i only get "Disk F" and its only the internal storage, i can still access my SD card from within the phone itself and i actually store there pictures and music and stuff, but if i try to connect to the pc to download the pictures from the camera im unable to, it just wont show up.
I tried turning usb debugging off, back on, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and i still cant seem to get it to work on windows, i tried this in two different pcs with both windows 7 and 8.
Its not a life or death situation but its certainly annoying, so any help would be greatly apreciated.
Thanks in advance.

You basically just download a ruu and run it in bootloader. You also have to out it on the root of the sd card (not in folders). And also name it to PH85IMG.
That's what I remember I'm not an expert on ruus.

Yup.
I think he should use other Rom for this Bcoz according to my knowledge cynogenmod doesn't support two SD card mountind
Bcoz they made is as a standard.
But RUU is the best way I think.

Emulate Android v3.2 on a v4.1.2 device

Hi guys,
I have a car stereo device made by Pioneer and it supports Android devices up to version 3.2 via USB connection.
I can not stress it enough how much I would like it to communicate with my galaxy which runs a v4.1.2.
The best I got was to download a USB Mass Storage enabler and access the SD card via the USB cable but that's not what I need.
I need the Pioneer device to recognize my phone and to be able to hear whatever the phone is playing.
Any help, advice or redirection would be really appreciated.

That's an option but I really prefer more of a moderate solution that doing that - if there is one.
Besides, I don't know any GB roms and starting testing one after another is really a painful thing to do right now, as I just recently finished configuring everything to match my like, using a sammy based wanamlite rom.
If there is a solution, my question is, well, what is it?
If not, my question is... what GB rom are known as popular, stable, well working and "support USB Mass Storage Class specifications" (that is what Pioneer stated in the car radio device specs)?
So...
Does anyone know how do I go about doing that?
Can anyone please take another look at my question?
About your 'popular GB rom' question: have a look at Checkrom (and make sure you check the GB version, because the ICS version has the brick bug).

[Q] USB connection to PC

It just stopped working. When I plug into PC, it just says it's charging? No idea what I could have done. I even tried restoring my backed up stock rom, but that made no difference. Tried two different PC's. What settings should I look for? Can I get to it via reboot, and pressing something. I seem to remember one time when my phone wouldn't boot, that I still had USB access.

If you have CWM installed then yes, you *should* be just fine. In mounts and storage menu, the last option i think is "mount USB storage" and it will show up in windows as removable storage then. If this doesn't work I can guess two things, one, your cable only has the power pins still connected, and not data. So try another cable. Or, on the USB connector inside your phone its not connecting both data pins, only power.
Should be able to visually check for damage to the micro usb port. Best of luck.

not if there is an option to enable storage, I haven't used twrp in forever, so I can't tell you definitively. You could download CWM on your device and flash it in TWRP though.
USB port appears fine. Tried different cable that works on my son's phone and it still didn't work. Is there an app that is good for troubleshooting usb connections someone could recommend. Thanks.

According to google TWRP does have an option to mount usb storage, have you tried seeing if windows can recognize your phone storage in recovery?
An alternative solution could be to use a shared folder in windows and ES file explorer to connect to that share, and send and receive files that way, so at least you have some ability to manage the device. *through WiFi on the phone to the LAN that your PC is on*
I would suggest deleting all the drivers for your device in windows but you already said you tried on a second computer. I'm stumped on this one at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far, none have worked. I wonder if there is an android app, that can check if the usb ports are working or not?
I had the same problem on SlimBean, Beanstalk and maybe another I can't remember. Switching to dvhexer's CM 10.2 fixed it. I THINK my problem was that those other ROMs require the phone to have been on stock 4.1.2 before flashing and dvhexer's CM 10.2 doesn't. I'm not sure, but that seems likely to me. In any case, make a backup of your current ROM and flash CM 10.2 to see if that fixes the issue. I really like Beanstalk but the ability to connect to my PC is vital to me so I'm on 10.2 for now. Hope this helps.

Have the same problem :/ it randomly happened to me, haven't found any sort of fix.
I think I'm going to go back to stock, take it to a service center and say, "it aint workin". Still under warranty. Doubt they'll do much snooping if it appears to be running stock Rom.
Can you even flash back to stock? I tried flashing it once and it wouldn't boot, completely wiped everything and reinstalled and it still wouldn't boot, so I'm stuck on custom roms apparently with no connection to pc so no lgnpst possible
