Yes I'm using older version. It fails to flash any system.sin when flashing FTF, and when flashing kernels it says the device must be rooted first. was on cm13 and when I wanted to revert back and flash older Android version it fooked up. I have other 3 or 4 xplays and they reverted back from cm13 custom partition just fine..
second on reup request if possible
Sorry for the late response, i never deleted it from my Mega account and i was not aware the links where broken.
I moved on from this phone long ago so i don't check the forum very often, but the file is now available once more for those with bricks.
Thanks, i think this can be very helpful
Thanks for this. Needed to do a reflash to stock as something had become corrupted with mine and wouldnt load any apps. Havent used flashtool for years and was surprised that I managed to flash with windows 10 64 bits too which I wasnt expecting.

I do not have a copy of the Tmobile FTF, however since your device is a r800i ReFlash should work for you and changes it to a non branded Xperia Play.

I'm sorry that I know nothing else except that thread. It included some infos you want
This version is creating many problem while rooting ......
so what is the solution ???
No problem, thanks very much
for neo or for neo v?
can somebody add the ftf file
you can find it at wotanserver....
What I suggest doing to root this version since ftf isn't floating around and wotan crypts their firmware:
1. Testpoint unlock bootloader (free if you have sim unlocked non-carrier). If you have a branded plunk down some dollars for jinx13 or that alejandrissamo (sp?) to do it. This method you can relock later on for warranty concerns. You need fastboot access and BL unlocked, don't whine, just do it.
2. Flash new firmware with wotan, back your stuff up with titanium or whatever beforehand.
3. HOTBOOT inteks kernel (I don't trust it on new build for neo v and I use stock otherwise). This is done by entering fastboot mode and running fastboot boot kernel.img and phone will reboot with inteks. (DO NOT DO FASTBOOT FLASH, JUST FASTBOOT BOOT)
4. Run zergrush tool as normal, phone will root.
5. Reboot and you are back on stock kernel with root access
EDIT: I should note I required this new build as my neo v was affected by random reboot bug on .42, this fixes it. Problem is well documented on SE forums and is neo v specific, neo is fine.

this is not new. are there any new update.
Hi to all,
i have my new xperia s (its great), anyway i already unlock the bootloader (thanks to DooMLoRD and Sony), now my question is how do i update my fone with 62 fw to 73 fw cause it seems that 73 fixes the battery problem?
is there anyone can also give me the link for the 73fw as well as its instructions?
also, once the ICS is release for xperia s is there no conflict once i updated my version to 73?
thanks in advance.
edit: nevermind about the link i found it
edit: thanks for everyone in this forum. now i have successfully updated my xperia s from .62 to .73 and now its rooted. and now il wait for the ICS
i do not know if i will install cfw but for now there is a huge improvement in battery. , maybe il stick to the pre-rooted fw and wait for the ICS before installing any CFW.
May I know how?
May I know that, how you upgraded your firmware from .62 to .73 since you have unlocked the bootloader?
Do you flash the pre-rooted firmware by yourself?
What is your ori generic fw? For me I really hard to find my own country fw...
Here it is

ive downloaded the orig ftf (for backup), you can choose whatever you like but i choose the sg ftf and the pre rooted firmware of sg.
first you need a flashtool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588586
and then u need the ftf (orig and pre rooted)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
and for the instructions on flashing the original firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
and for flashing the pre-rooted firmware (look for post by 4lex96 i think its the 4th post on third page)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597784&page=3
thats it goodluck.

Thank you for your info 1st. This give me a guide how to "ROOT" my SXS.
However, after flash in the .73 SG generic firmware, will I face problem while the official ICS update launch?
Is it at that time I will need to wait someone to pack the ftf and upload here then I just can update to ICS?
Haih, headache...
Also plan to use DoomKernel (Advanced Stock) to easily root the phone, dunno what problem will happen...

i thinks theres no problem on getting the ics update its just that the update that youre getting will be based on SG firmware.
yeah i think so too that once the ics is release they will upload here a ftf for it.
i'd tried the doomkernel (advanced stock) last week have no problem at all,
but im on a ROM now so i installed the doomkernel 04a, by the way im using
KAspeed ROM.
anyway if u flash the stock advanced kernel, you can always get back to stock by flashing the original kernel from the stock firmware.
Thank you again.
Well thank you again for the info.
I will try it in this few days, hehe.
btw, you used and using DoomKernel right.
If I flash back the original kernel from advanced kernel, will I lost root and the recovery?

im sure that you will loose recovery but about the root i dont know, if u flash the pre rooted firmware before the doomkernel and then go back to stock maybe the root will not disappear but im not sure havent tried.
Thank you.
Okay. Roughly I got the idea about it.
Now I try to root the firmware that I packed out. Still learning.
Still got long way for the ICS update yet. Haha
Thank you.
Ok, now i'm really confused.
I'm currently on 757 firmware and I want to flash the GPe on it. What exactly do I have to do?
LordManhattan's thread simply requires me to flash some files but the GPe thread needs me to flash boot.img or something.
Can anyone coach me step by step? I've never tried to flash a darn phone with so many prerequisites... It was so much easier playing with the LG and hTc

From stock 757 with unlocked bootloader:
Copy ROM zip to sdcard of phone
Flash boot.img from the ROM zip using flashtool and fastboot mode. the boot.img will have recovery already in it
Boot the phone into recovery, vol + or - while booting
Factory reset (or format data and wipe caches
Flash the ROM zip from recovery
Reboot into system
I assume you have followed lordmanhattan's guide and have:
Downgraded
Rooted
Backed up TA
Unlocked bootloader
Updated firmware to the latest

So it is okay to directly downgrade from 757?
And what do you mean by updated firmware to the latest?
And the boot.img in the ROM package, does it already contain the recovery?

You want to downgrade to root? if so then yes - see my downgrade sticky thread in the general section for a guide
After rooting/backing up TA/unlocking bootloader you will want to flash the latest firmware again to get the new baseband, and a few other things else any custom 4.3 or 4.4 ROM's won't boot and/or will have IMEI issues

Ok to be honest, im trying to flash that ROM because the recent 757 firmware was supposed to fix the sound bug issue. It worked for others' ZU except for mine. Pretty pissed that all SONY said to me was to bring my phone down for a repair, hence i was hoping i could fix it by flashing another ROM.
I downgraded to .532 then updated it back to 757. Seems like it is a hardware problem...
WOW. I'M AN IDIOT. I DECIDED TO WASH MY PHONE UNDER THE TAP BECAUSE IT WAS A LITTLE DIRTY. AND SOMEHOW, THAT FIXED THE SOUND BUG. SOMEONE PLEASE SLAP ME IN THE FACE.
Close this thread please, I'm an idiot. Thanks blueether for your help!
You don't read very well do you?
All the steps needed were there with an explanation of why (where needed).
Next time you you need/want to flash your ZU take the time to read the steps, and ask questions if you aren't sure about a step or why some said to do something a certain way or to see a certain thread...
ps good to see you have the sound working again

For reference, my C6802 was on stock .757 firmware, then I flashed the unofficial SlimKat rom and kernel from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712065. Everything works in the rom except it doesnt connect to my mobile network.

Thanks for the response blueether! In the phone settings it says Unknown for both baseband and imei. I found this thread where you helped another person with almost the same problem I guess, (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2738141) and you have told him to follow these steps:
"Just do as has been said a thousand times...
Downgrade to .532 - see my downgrade thread
Root using either [NUT]'s dual recovery or bin4ries tool - see thread in step above or LordManhattans guide
Backup the TA - see LordManhattons guide
Upgrade to latest FTF
Unlock bootloader
Root using jackies099's kernel
..."
So I'm downloading a .532 FTF and will try out these steps once the download finishes in a while. As I understand, when I upgrade to the latest FTF (.757 now?) the imei/baseband should return.

IMEI/baseband should be fine if you were on 757 and flashed slim.
You could just try reflashing any 4.4 FTF you have laying around while you wait for the other one to download

Not sure why they vanished. Unfortunately I'm sort of a noob and don't have any FTFs lying around. I read some more threads and now I'm wondering what I should try first?
A - Flash 290 FTF then downgrade to 532
or
B - Straightaway flash 532 FTF
or
C - Flash 757 FTF

Hey guys!
Ive been trying to figure out how to go about rooting my tablet but since I am new at this stuff I just want to make sure I dont **** up
My questions are:
1. My tablet is 5.0.2 atm, as far as I know I have to downgrade to be able to root?
2. If I need to downgrade I believe I need a FTF file, I have a LTE version which is bought in sweden. Do I need a specifik FTF file for my country or can I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2741233to downgrade my tablet?
3. Can i still use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792056 to root my device after I downgraded the firmware or is it outdated? If its outdated is there any updated guide I can use?
Any help is appreciated!

1. There is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461. But it ain´t give proper root and there is also some security concerns with it but your decision.
2. Yes. You need FTF file which is 4.4.2 firmware for you device. Latest rootable is 17.1.2.A.0.314. Here is download link for SGP 521 if you want. https://mega.co.nz/#!cN5ykLrL!0w38j4lWIHFm1rZdwexScG9Cpz2BghrSZPpLRkyTcL8 . However your link should work also. If you only use it for rooting it don´t have to be for your region.
3. Your link would work for rooting properly. However there is other methods too.
4. After you achieved root just install custom recovery for you device and flash latest prerooted firmware for your device with it and you are good.

There is no need to unlock bootloader if you just want to root your device. Bootloader unlocking is needed if you want to try custom kernels or roms that use custom kernels. And yes this work for your device also.

Yes you can downgrade to 4.4.2 firmware with locked bootloader. After that you don´t need kingroot to root your device because @[NUT]´s dualrecovery pc installer can root your device before it install custom recovery. After that you can flash prerooted firmware (= .zip file) with custom recovery. Usually prerooted stock roms has whole firmware including kernel. Their also include SuperSu and custom recovery. And there is no need to unlock your bootloader in any step for this unless you want to do that.
OK so I flashed a ftf file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3061431 I don't think its right as its for HK etc. A 4.4.2 ftf. 17.1.a.2.402 HK/sa/as/kw.
I was on 23.1.A.1.28 in the UK as O2 UK being the 4g network. But according to that thread the 23.1.a.1.28 I was on is generic HK so I'm confused. How can I get back to my original then? Thanks

After that you can flash prerooted firmware (= .zip file) with custom recovery. Usually prerooted stock roms has whole firmware including kernel. Their also include SuperSu and custom recovery. And there is no need to unlock your bootloader in any step for this unless you want to do that.

I have tried both ways. Including ta partition and excluding it. Both works just fine for me.

OK thanks I did it without the ta partition like suggested but wasn't sure if it was 100% correct. Should all be fine though. I'm currently now rooted and all fine but what I want to do is have a Pre rooted flashable zip of my ftf I've made so it is my actual stock ROM I'm running. I've looked into the prfcreator but don't wanna do it and run the risk of bricking my z2 tab. Have you used prfcreator? I guess all I need is my ftf file to use. The most update supersu zip I want. And then I need to somehow have the xzdualrecovery.zip but not sure if that's all I need or if I need the current Sony signed kernel or what. Thanks

Must admit reading up more looks pretty straight forward as I just use NUTz xzdualrecovery flashable zip as the recovery zip. I'm just unsure on whether I would need to check kernel otakernel modem and ltalabel for our device. Thanks

Depending what you want but if you include everything else but signing you end up to fully functional prerooted firmware.

No need to be sorry. You don't need to sign your zip because TWRP can handle unsigned zip files just fine. There is nothing wrong to sign your zip file but some times it can cause problems. Your choice.
hello all.
all the info out there is really confuse me.
some one please give me a valid links to here.
please correct me if im wrong somewhere in my understanding:
i own xperia Z2. my version is 5.1.1 stock.
the sound is crazy low ( after i put the max db at setting-sound...), so i searched what can i do about it, i've found there is a mod that fix this. as i understand, for that mod i should have recovery and rooted device, so i thought to myself "hey, if im gonna do root and install a recovery ill also will flash a nice rom"...
so i tried to follow some guides here but they are realy confused me.
at the links it says the root won't work for any device...
also it says it is gonna work for lockboot or something...
more over there is many methods and i dont know what is the simplest one.
there is more info that realy confused me and i want to be 100% sure im doing the correct steps...
I know i need to root and install a recovery, then i i need to pick some rom and flash it ( right?)
so please give me a links to here for what i need to flash a rom for my sony xperia z2 device ( v 5.1.1 stock).
ty for helping.
1.
The way i'd root my device on a locked bootloader is
- download flashtool and a older Firmware FTF
- FLASH the older firmware to my device and on the older firmware use a root tool to root my device
- I can now use root access to install recovery (XZdualrecovery)
- Download PRFcreator and a newer FTF with a superSU flashable zip
- Use prfcreator to make a flashable zip out of the new FW( include kernel and and all )
- copy it to device and flash it and be sure to wipe caches and data per big flash (e.g heavy FW changes)
- also google around for some things and make sure it all matches your device
(FTFs and xz recovery)
Also search for TA backup it may be useful for before you unlock your bootloader if you do
2/1. Use xda search tools to search Z2 section for root tool scripts
2. FTFs can be found in general section
3. You may want to add xz recovery to your upgrade flashable zip
4. Feel free to ask any aditional questions if you need more direction or detail
5. Unlocking your bootloader voids your warrenty (and wipes TA) if you restore your TA sony cant tell if you have unlocked your bootloader or not
(it also relocks your BL upon restoreing so be on a stock kernel)
what is FTF? is it the android version i have?
why i need an older one? i cant flash with 5.1.1?
about the steps:
[/COLOR]
is that root guide good for me?
http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/06/15/root-your-xperia-z2-with-locked-bootloader-guide/

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...m-existenz-ultimate-1-0-5-light-dark-t2835196
am i good to go?
what if i want diferent rom after i will flash this one?

FTF
I dont know its definition but its a full Firmware with included partitions so its essentially a factory firmware package
Kindof
Ita FW version and android verson
- Android rootkits use security exploits which google or sony may patch respectively
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs
That guide looks good
After flashing if be sure to download a Newer FTF that matches your ROM version and be sure you flash only kernel
(exclude all) (some roms may not include a kernel)
To flash a rom after that one you can reboot into recovery and flash any stock based rom (and stock kernel to match Fw Version if it changes heavily)
Rootkits dont work with newer FWs you will have to try 4.4.2 or the 55FWs

55fws i ment the last numbers of a build number
The bugs that rootkits exploit are mostly fixed on newer Firmware versions (fw for short)
You need to downgrade to 55 or 402 fw to use some of the rootkits
i following those steps:
Flash official Sony's 4.4.2 17.1.2.A.0.314 with flashtool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2162907)
Root using any method
Install NUT dual recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2261606) or the recovery of your choice.
Reboot in recovery, Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache.
Flash the rom.
Follow AROMA Installer.
so i went to do step 1:
but there- it is written:
With this release, before unlocking first time, root your device
so? i need to do step2 first, then step1?
That comment is about unlocking you bootloader. So no step 1 then step 2.
