My lockscreen music player shows these items
"CURRENTLY PLAYING
Song Name
Album"
How come it shows Album instead of Artist name? Does anyone know how to get it to show Artist instead? I am using HTC's music player. Thanks.

It actually displays
"CURRENTLY PLAYING
Song Name
Album - Artist"
if the Album name is short, you can see the beginning of the artist name. This bugs me too, but I don't know that there's a way to change it..

I have a folder on my SD card named Media that has all of my custom ringtones/alarms/notification mp3 files in it.
The built in media player wants to catalog them all and play them along with my music folder files.
I tried putting a .nomedia file in there, but that also hides them from the rest of the system so they don't show up when you try to select a ringtone or alarm tone.
Is there a way to just hide them from the media player, or make the media player only read from a specific folder?
Get MortPlayer and you can select the folder to play music from.
Sent from my Vibrant using the XDA app.
Looks good so far! Thanks for the tip.
MixZing also lets you select which folder to look in when searching for media. The default player from Samsung is really lacking in some important features. M3U playlist file support, lack of widget, and ability to discern between ringtones and songs.
It's a little frustrating to be listening to music and suddenly hear your ringtone going off and wondering why your phone says no one is calling.
I'm going to try MixZing as well.
I did buy a program called iSyncr which allows you to sync your iTunes playlists to the phone and it uses the playlist files from them and they show up in your playlists on the default player. If you use itunes at all it might be worth looking at. It moves the files down with the folder structure intact under it's own parent folder.
I use this app from the market StudioKUMA .nomedia Manager
This is the same as using the .nomedia file trick only by using a simpler and quicker way through a GUI interface.

Why would you need a widget when the music controls are right in the status bar? And if you need to sync your playlists try this: http://www.yellowfocus.com/blog/35-...-the-galaxy-s-for-the-stock-music-player.html

I like the stock Samsung music player because it can change songs on screen-lock mode..but I hate it when it plays my ringtones and alarms.
It'll be great if it can ignore those files but not hiding from the system.

if you have root, just push the mp3 you want as ringtone to /system/media/audio/ringtone and it will show up as selectable ringtones but won't be in the media player.

The winamp player lets you switch songs on the lock screen even the security screen lock ... as long as winamp is playing music when you want to change the song the player pops up over writing the lock ...
Also if you need to unlock the screen while winamp is still playing winamp puts a small lock icon on the upper left corner of the player that takes you to the lockscreen

I'm looking for the same thing. Putting the .nomedia file in media folder hides ringtones from system's Ringtone Picker too. But also want to stick to Sony's stock Walkman player.
Some of my album art does not show in Google music. I looked in the folders and the jpg are there but they don't show. They do show up when I use other players such as winamp etc. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix?
In the past I've had art not show up for a little bit immediately after uploading them to Google Music, but it generally did start displaying eventually. In the cases where it didn't, I manually edited the album info on the Google Music desktop site (Select album > click the little icon at the bottom right where the art should be > Edit album info > "Change" to the right under where the art should be)
Thanks for the reply was hoping to be able to do it on the phone, but no such luck I guess...
Sorry to revive this old topic, but I'm still having this issue I can see my album artwork in the browser player, but only some of them are correctly shown in the phone app. I'm using this ROM. Has anyone found a solution for this?
Thanks!
I use Walkman Player port by ThilinaC
After downloading music data some song's Artist photo appears on My Music section when his/her song playing like attach Screenshot.
But many song can not show Artist photo.
Is there are any way to add this Artist photo manually?
Sorry for my bad English.

There's an app called mp3tag. You can edit album covers with that on your pc
I already have mp3tag but it use to add album art.
I don't need to add album art. I need to show artist photo on My Music section when his/her song is playing.
See screenshot-
First one is song section with songs album art. I can add it by mp3tag.
But second one is My Music section. It show artist photo. I got it when I download my song data. I want to add this photo manually because all song don't show it's artist photo.
Sorry for my bad English.
Anyway thanks.

This is indeed possible as the artist images are stored in a particular folder in the sd card. However, those image files have encoded names & how they're associated with the music files needs to be known. I'm trying too look for the info.
you must have some artist photos in your SD Card.
and then
1. go to walkman player, play your song which has no artist photos.
2. press menu button on your phone, select "edit music info".
3. click on "edit album art" button. there are 2 options. "download from network" and "select from gallery"
4. click on "select from gallery".
5. ok then, you can choose your artist photo from your SD Card to be your album art.
^^ Hmm...
Nobody seems to be understanding the concept of "artist photo" in the Sony walkman player. It is NOT the same as the Album art (which can be added to songs using any mp3 tag editor). See the above thumbnails for a better understanding.

And for anyone who is interested, the artist images are stored in "/sdcard/Android/data/com.sonyericsson.mediaextra.provider/artistimage" folder.

Actually that's not what OP wants to change, but mp3tag can also change artist's photo indeed. For anyone who hasn't used mp3tag before, you can follow these steps:
Open mp3tag,
Browse folder using "change directory" button,
Select the file you want to modify,
Drag and drop artist photo to the image box,
Right click the image box, set cover type: Artist,
Save it.
I don't know if it's gonna work, but you can try it.
^^ I confirm that this method doesn't work.

I did not say anything about creating that folder. That folder is created by the walkman app to store artist images. I did not find any way to manually add artist info.
Most American songs artist image will automatically work if you select the download music info option in the walkman player.

So, anybody figured out how to add artist image manually?
I dont have this folder on my sdcard. Is someone with working artist images willing to upload his folder. I'd like to take a look in it...

That folder is on your internal memory NOT EXTERNAL SD CARD.

Here's what I did:
1. go to Internal SD Card/Android/data/com.sonyericsson.mediaextra.provider/artistimage
2. copy all the files (all having numerc names and no extension) to your external sd card (or somewhere which can be accessed from your computer while connected via USB). 3. Now copy all those files to your computer and add .jpg extension to each of them. You can now view all the corresponding artist pictures you are accustomed to see in Walkman app.
4. change them as necessary BUT KEEP THE NAME OF THESE FILES EXACTLY THE SAME.
5. Now remove the .jpg extension (from folder option of your Windows PC check show known file extension and erase the extensions).
6. Then copy them back and replace the files in the location Internal SD Card/Android/data/com.sonyericsson.mediaextra.provider/artistimage
This will work.
Caution: Don't use oversized image files keep resolution to 700x700 max and filesize upto 200 kb or so (I don't exactly know the limit).
For artists that do not have a gracenote provided image there seem to be no way that you can add an image.
1) I recently added several folders with pictures onto my sd card. When I go into the Album I see that the preview and initial folder displayed is the same one every time. Is there a way to change the folder that shows up when you first open the album? Unfortunately, this one folder has some inappropriate photos
2) Coming from a Galaxy phone, the default music player had tabs to view tracks by artist, album, playlist etc, but most importantly it also had a tab to view by "Folder" so I could pick out one of the many music folders I had and play what was in there. The Walkman on the Z2 seems to have everything except for "Folder" view. Is there a way to do this?

Well i dont fuly understand your problem but i have on my sd /pictures/screenshots and /pictures/oldcam
It showw within my albums each individual folder
If your trying to hide some folders put what you want in a folder and rename it to have a . In front of it like this .hiddenpics
And the walkman you cant change to tab view, folders are displayed in albums like on the albums app

The album problem is like this, I open up the album and there is a preview of several pictures at the top, just the the Movies app plays a little preview of some of the movies/videos you have. on my phone, the Album has chosen to show previews of this one particular folder and also the first pictures shown are from that folder, I have to scroll, all the way down before I see another folder. So I simply want a different folder to be at the top of the list and in the preview.

Hi!
Sorry this is for Themer-related posts only. If you are referring to Themer, we do not think there is a way to do this just yet.
