Hello All,
I hope someone may be able to help.
After encountering a problem on my jb razr, I tried to do a restore from a 2 day old backup. I have SS v3.11 installed and TWRP v2.2.2.1. After doing the restore on the Stock rom in SS, the razr boots up, but the screen does not work. I can hear the startup sound and the hard buttons provide appropriate actions, but no display at all. I have tried to wipe everything and then do a factory reset, but the results are the same. I have also tried to reinstall the fastboot from the zip on my sd card, but it fails pretty much instantaneously.
What can I do to get this running normally again?

I have tried several different Rom Managers without a problem on my G Tablet. Have been using TNT lite. Recently I switched to Vegan Gingerbread edition, but when I went to backup my old Rom (TNT Lite) the backup hangs on backing up the cache. I tried wiping the cache and formatting the cache, but it always hangs indefinitely.
I installed Vegan Gingerbread anyway and it appears to work perfectly, yet I still cannot backup the rom with Clockworkmod (always hangs on the cache). If I try to look at the cache partition in filemanager, it shows empty, though I am not sure it is actually recognized. I can't seem to do anything with the cache at all.
I am, by no means an expert, but have had no problems with this before. Backup did work before the recent problem.
Since everything is working with my G Tablet now, I am not sure there is an actual problem with the cache, except that I can't backup the Rom without it hanging on the cache. This may limit my ability to load other Roms in the future.
Please help.
I have the exact same problem. I've had no issues backing up and restoring ROMs myself, but now I'm having issues with my tablet not being able to format or restore cache. I can install a ROM, but it takes a long time to actually load up - it can sit on the first splash screen for easily 5 minutes before it boots into the ROM, wher as before it took around 1 minute or less. Are you having this slow boot problem as well, or are your problems strictly with the cache? I'm going to continue to look into it (currently looking into using nvflash to do a restore and see if that irons things out), so I'll let you know if I come across any solutions. And please, let me know if you do as well.
hey guys i had the exact same problem before but nvflash fix what ever the problem was and the newly installed cwm work as it should. are you getting "ANDROID" screen right before it goes into cwm?
I am not getting the Android screen before ClockworkMod, but I generally boot with the power/vol + combo. I also have not changed Rom's recently, so I am not sure if this would be a problem or not. I do not have any boot problems that I am aware of, nor can I see and performance problems resulting from my inability to format the cache. The only problem is I can't wipe the cache, backup the rom, or format the cache as it stops on formatting cache partition and therefore can't continue the backup process. Other than incomplete backups I am not sure what problems this actually causes. Do you know.
I haven't used NVFlash yet, but I guess I will have to give it a try. Am I simply restoring the ROM to factory state and starting over or is there some other process I am looking for? Unfortunately, I did not get a proper backup of my original factory rom, so I will have to rely on downloads. Any tips on NVFlash would be greatly appreciated.
It's Fixed! Thanks for the tips.
Here is how I did it:
Ran NVFLASH - it was much easier that expected. It fully restored the original stock Rom, but I still had trouble with clockworkmod. Mostly it would not boot into recover mode. I then re-rooted the tablet using the Update.zip method, Then everything worked fine including backup and cache format.
I continued to restore my tablet and tried the backup each step of they way.
I installed Vegan Gingerbread - Worked flawlessly
I reinstalled MyBackupsPro and all my apps and Data - Also, worked flawlessly
I reinstalled Rom Manager - also worked flawlessly.
I used Rom Manager to upgrade ClockworkMod to 2.5.1.8 - then the backup/ format cache problem reappeared.
I then ran Rom Manager again and selected flash alternate ClockworkMod. It restored version 2.5.1.1. Then the backup and format cache worked again.
It appears that my Gtab does not work properly with Clockworkmod ver 2.5.1.8 and that was the entire problem.
Since Version 2.5.1.1 works great, I see no reason to upgrade this again and consider my problem fixed. I hope this info helps others
Hi! I'm new to the forums and I have recently rooted my MB860 Motorola Atrix 4g with olympus.
Today I tried to install CM10 Avatar Rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140902
I restarted my phone in Clockworkmod > install zip from internal storage > install
But after it restarts, it gets stuck on the Avatar logo with the sparkle circulating.
I tried wiping Delavik/cache/ and I even formatted the phone to factory settings.
Can anyone please help me?

have u tried going back to stock
make sure if u flash the file again that u re-download it, the ROM might have not been downloaded correctly and therefore you are stuck on the splash screen
The problem is, i hadn't back up my previous rom before installing this one, therefore I cannot go back. Ugh i'm so newb >.<
However, is there a way to completely set it back to factory settings? I wipe /data/cache/Delavik/ back to factory setting but still after i restart it goes to the splash screen of Avatar ROM.

It is always recommended to take a backup and full wipe (not just the dalvik cache) before installing a custom ROM. It is quite difficult to retrieve the data if there is no backup and the ROM is not booting. As of now the first thing I would suggest is to take a full backup using clockworkmod (at any stage you can recover this and come back to current state). Once the backup successful, try doing a wipe data/factory reset, then install the rom and see if it boots.
If the ROM boots at this stage, again take another backup in clockworkmod. Also someone on the thread has suggested flashing an older version of the rom first, boot and then flashing latest zip helps.
Then use the advanced restore option and try restoring data alone. If this is successful, you should most probably have all the data of all standard applications.
Also check this links http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 or stock-firmware and see if you can install the stock rom back with this.
I am running Razr ICS 4.0.4 safestrap 3.11.
Problem is when i try to restore a backup that I made, could have just made it 5 minutes ago( does samething to any backups) all that happens is the M logo comes up then the safestrap screen and I hit the button to boot phone normally it just goes to a black screen. I have do the 3 button reset to get back to safestrap. I then have to switch over to the stock rom slot, and that boots fine. I then have to go back into safestrap and delete rom slot 1 and re-create it to be-able to restore any backups. What is going on, what do I have to do to just be able to restore a backup without have to delete the rom slot and recreate it everytime? I made a post on Hashcode site as well. Would love to get this resolved!

Actually, after I went from Safestrap 2.__ to 3.11, every time I create a new Rom slot and try to Install a ROM into it, I get a black screen on reboot. The only thing that works for me is the stock at this point. I'm worried to revert to the previous Safestrap and some ROM's don't work with anything but the latest Safestrap, so unsure what to do.

I got the same problem as your when using the safestrap 3.11. But then I noticed that every developer ask us to wipe before install roms.
I followed, and I succeeded most of my installation. But I still get the black screen randomly, even when I reinstall the rom that boots normal before.
Anyway, you could try wipe all between the time of recreate the rom-slot and install roms.
Hope this will help you!

On my first install of Safestrap 3.11 on Motorola Droid Razr HD, I made a 1gb partition in slot 1, installed Batakang rom and rebooted. Worked fine (except I could only receive, not send sms/mms). Since then nothing has worked. I have even gone as far as factory reset my phone, re-rooted (Motochopper) and Unlocked Bootloader (Motopocalypse), re-installed safestrap, created new rom slot (tried slot 1 and 3) tried installing CM10 and AOKP unofficial builds downloaded from this site, no ammount of wiping before installing works. I can boot to stock rom fine but get black screen when booting into other roms. Holding down power key forces reboot into safestrap again.
I will first delete any ROM slot i created first then Easiest way to fix black screen is to boot to stock rom and select safestrap app open and chose uninstall recovery, reboot and do same thing but this time choose install recovery then reboot, can go back into safestrap now and all will be Good
Some ROMs are messed up like that as far as messaging goes
Hello all,
By using Safestrap, I wanted to flash a CM 11 Kitkat ROM to my XT912, but I ran into some complications that I will detail below. If anyone can follow what I did and tell me how to get out of this situation, I would be very appreciative.
The very first thing I did was gain root access for my phone. Using this script, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192467, and after a few tries, I was able to root the phone and install Safestrap. But this was an earlier version of Safestrap than what the directions for installing the ROM said, so I then installed the updated version.
After installing Safestrap v 3.65 and installing the recovery, I then using Titanium backup (the free version) and made a backup of all my app data. When I booted into Safestrap, I immediately created a backup of the stock ROM. Then, using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535920, I created a ROM slot, did the advanced wipe, flashed both the ROM and gapps .zip files, and wiped the Dalvik and the cache for the final time. This is where a problem occurred. After I tried wiping the Dalvik and the cache at the end, Satestrap said that the process had failed. Dumb me decided that it would be a good idea to then boot the phone anyway with the KK ROM selected.
In my phone's current state, it will not boot past the M logo. It can boot into fastboot, but when an option is selected, either the M logo appears again or the screen goes blank. I've tried reflashing the stock ROM using the 2nd option in the script, but every time I do that, the phone says it has a low battery. To try and solve this problem, I tried using this trick to get the phone to charge: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549625, but it hasn't helped. Even after sitting overnight after doing this trick the phone still said low battery when I tried running the script.
Any ideas as to what I did and how I can go about solving it? Thanks for reading my post.
Hello folks,
This phone was lying in the drawer for years until I found it yesterday and tried updating Lineage OS. It was on OS 12.
I took a backup in the recovery and tried wiping the phone to install Lineage OS 14.1 (just update wouldn't work for some reason). I could wipe everything but not the internal storage. It kept giving an error, unable to wipe /sdcard. So I wiped every 'partition' individually and it claimed, wiping successful.
When I went back to backup screen to make sure that rest everything is indeed wiping, I saw the sizes of the partitions same as at the time of backup. So I wasn't too sure if it just wasn't getting refreshed or it indeed didn't wipe.
And thats when I got a dumb idea of rebooting the phone.
I thought I have Safestrap installed so it will reboot in recovery anyways, but no, now all I get Motorola flash screen and then black screen.
Any ideas how should I proceed?
Many thanks in advance.
Try
Power off, Hold volume buttons, Power on, release buttons at
Boot Mode Selection Menu> Scroll down with volume down button, to BP Tools, Select with Volume UP button, should boot directly to SafeStrap (if it's still there).

Thanks for a quick reply.
I managed to recover the phone using RSD Lite and the firmware but now struggling to find the rooting files to root and get Lineage on the device. All threads that I am checking have missing files.
It will be great if anyone can share their backup.
Thanks again.
Update:
I managed to install.
I used https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48392009#post48392009 to root
Installed Safestrap and installed lates Lineage build.
4th thread in the sticky had everything.
Thanks again for help.
