Hi.
I read on a tread that I can change the colors of my Leds on Sony Xperia U manually. That way I could have diferente colors, like blue-red-blue, instead of a color only (e.g blue-blue-blue).
So, when I go to sys/class/leds, and adjust the brightness, as I was told, it works (I can see that the Led changes), but after the Leds go off, when I turn them on again, they're back to default. If I go to the brightness again, all changes I made are gone.
How can I do what I want and why is this happening?
PS: I'm using Root Explorer and I do have r/w mounted. I also tried with ES File Explorer
Thanks!

The apps U-Disco and Leds-U-Ctrl seem to solve the purpose. Original xda threads of the apps:

Couldn't get you, sorry! Do you mean you want one LED to light up in blue, the second one in red and then the third one in blue in one go?
Or did you mean one illumination in blue, the successive one in red and the next one in blue?

Sorry for confusion.
I want the LED bar on the bottom to have a certain color in the left side, another color in the middle, and another color on the right side.
Thanks for response!

U-Disco looks neat... I'm definitely going to keep it. But not quite what I'm looking for. Led's-u-ctrl is cool, I already knew about it. And it does almost what I want. You see, when you touch the BACK/HOME/OPTIONS in the bottom, or press the volume buttons, the Leds Bar illuminate. Leds-u-ctrl allows you the customize the color of the illumination (because there's really few colors by default).
What I want, I don't care if I have to do it manually, is to customize that illumination so it has 2 or 3 colors. Because Xperia U has (of course) 3 diferente LEDs

In that case, I guess best would be that you talk to the developers of these apps. I'm sure they know best. So you may PM them if you want to.

I know that it is possible to use app to use different colors of led to display different system messages. But I wold appreciate if I cold just change led color from green to blue (or other then green, yellow os red) when batt charge is on 100%.
Do anybody know if there is a config file to do this?

Oh, I'm sorry. My English is very bay, and I think that you (and maybe all others) did not understand me.
I'm not trying to change battery icon, but the led color. By default, it lights on red when batt are lower than 10%, green when is over 90% and yellow (orange?!?) between these values.
I would like to change the color from green to blue (or any other) when the batt is on 100%.
Tks for your help, anyway...
Sorry I misread you. BTW, I saw one such app (launched today itself) in Android Games & Apps section but a it is for DroidX only. Anyway link is posted for you to see yourself.

can you explain this a bit please? i mean how to do that. i really like tasker, but i'm no master at this
so we need to replace "charged state" led color somehow, and change it by the level of charging, right?
so howto? :}
i've tryed alert in tasker, and looks like it doesnt work on our lil minis
ok. now it works, only if screen is off.
but the charging led is anyway over eeemmm... overconlrolling this. i mean no tasker led blinks, if you put the charger in

Hi all,
I've noticed there are several different LED colors that appear for notifications.
Was just wondering if anyone had figured out which color corresponds to which notification?
Because sometimes the light is blue, green or white? Can't decide which color is for what
Thanks guys

There is not much informations on that page.
When you plug the charger, led will red if battery level is btw 0 and 90%, above 90% its green (even at 100, it still show green-i dont like that).
When you download any app on market, led will blink...
The notification LED can be controlled based on what the app wants. FB can make a blue LED, Whatsapp and general notifications are green, charging is yellow, fatal errors are red, white I've seen on different apps, so it really depends on your app usage. You can't control it directly though settings or anything.
Thanks all for your answers.
Does anyone know of an app in the market which enables you to take control of the LED color? So I can set the LED to flash a set color for certain apps?
Thanks again everyone.
Light Flow works, but you gotta go into
General settings for the app and enable "Direct Mode"
It also asks for root and accessibility settings enabled, but it does work

Hello,
I've searched for a solution to turn off the LED bar for quite some time, but all the solutions via apps like LEDs-U-CTRL or uninstalling the sony.illumination.service package or removing the /system/apps/SemcIllumination.apk or the terminal commands from this thread don't work for me. Maybe because I've flashed the FXP152... The two packages don't exist.
Is there any other way to disable the LEDs? What versions of FXP support disabling the LEDs?
Thanks in advance!
yes u can disable ..

I can't believe it! It really works!
Thanks!
In FXP 210a the LED bar is finally completely off. Thanks to that my phone used only 2% of battery in the last 11 hours. Well... without using the phone much (sleeping for about 7 hours) and Wifi off. The Governor at "on demand" set to 200-400 MHz. :cyclops:
(of cause the LED bar will still blink at a custom frequency with a custom color when I get a message.)
btw: When the LED was always on the percentage went down every few minutes... It almost halves the duration of the battery when using the phone all day.
*Don't mind me reporting how things were progressing*

bro you know how turn off illumination bar of xperia u permanent, without apps? please tell me
Use illumination bar notification app (search urself) and on choosing the color of the theme of that app, don't slide non of the red, green and blue and then, save it. That's how.
P.S: That app didn't even use root access so you better give it a try

I don't know... I have something in mind, but it also could cause, that no led works at all or even that the phone won't boot anymore... So I don't even want to try it. (deleting the file /system/lib/hw/lights.montblanc.so)
As Little Zed said, you should try it with an app like screenfilter or the illumination bar notification app.
If you try out newer Roms like KitKat, then you also have an option to disable the LED but, I don't know if it will both disable the small LED on the top right and the LED bar... But this is something you might want to test.
ps: in the current KitKat Rom the LED bar won't work, you'd have to replace the above mentioned file with the one from CM10.1.

I always wondered how to change the colors of the led for different notifications but after seeing in the menu that it would only let me turn them on or off i thought i was going to have to use an app to control it. Well I just stumbled across this and thought I would share just in case someone else didnt know this. Yes, i saw that, and is is useful. I want to find a way to customize the led color on an app by app basis.
Is there a way to get the light to work for third party apps like go SMS?

Great it works, i found out for hangout the first blink of led is the stock colour and then goes to the desired colour from lightflow. Is that unavoidable behavior? Is there a chance of turning of LED from lg setting and letting light flow do all the work? It seems to me that will turn off led entirely. Thanks Again

Just bought (and about to return) the HTC One M8 because the LED notifier/blinker is a shocker. It is very small, only has Red, Green and Blue (!!) and no apps like LED notifier can manipulate it.
My old S3 was great and had a lovely big LED blinker but am considering the Z2 as I fancy a change. Can someone please reassure me that the LED is big, has all the colours and will work with an LED app?
Thanks.
Or maybe an S5...
I'm not sure but I think the Z2's LED can only display green and red, I hope I'm wrong

You should be able to change it with an app. Try out Light Manager? Some of the changes require root, but not all.
I've tested out mine via the test menu. It's able to output R,G,B there. It would make sense that it is possible for the phone to mix those colours to display other colours (like the orange and purple that some system events use) but I've been unable to get it to show using LightFlow.
I see a lot more colors than R,G,B on my z1 and zl (purple from yahoo mail, white from gmail for example). So there is no reason z2 notifier will output only those three colors
Could someone be so kind as to test it with LED Manager or Light Flow? It's really simple. Select the app, the colour and then test it. Appreciate any that could this. About to buy but need all the colours!

There's blue for sure. Seen in many videos. There's no yellow?
But yes, its quite large. Another thing I love about the Z2. Its the second largest in current flagships after Oppo Find 7.

Really appreciate you doing this. I'm afraid that rules the Z2 out for me then which is a shame as I fancied a change. S5 it is then.
Using WhatsApp, the LED was able to display the notifications in different colours. So far I have used yellow, green, cyan and purple.

CYAN <3 Sorry, but I just had to do this.
The Z2 indeed can display other colours etc like Pink/Yellow/Orange/Lime etc etc..
Tested using Lightflow.
Only down is, you can't use it together with the "Extended Standby" feature with STAMINA mode as that will disable any fiddling with the LED notification.
Yup.. I'm using LightFlow. Works well.. I got blue for SMSes, red for miss calls, green for whatsapp and purple for viber.
The LED is nice and big enough for viewing... however it sits below the level of the front glass, right where the top speaker slit is. If your phone faces you parallelly, you'll be seeing the LED well enough. If you have your phone lying on your desk in front of you and when you are looking at the face of the phone at an angle, you might just miss it.
Cheers.
i thought the sony default light will overwrites the lightflow?
Hmm.. perhaps since LightFlow is turned ON under accessibility settings, it works?
i just tick every box in the settings... it seems to work.
I will be using the SCR10 style case when I get the phone - looking at the front flap of the case and the phone, I am guessing the LED notification should be visible with the case closed?
