HTC One Data usage. - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Was on the verge of switching to AT&T until Verizon new announcement that they will carry the ONE. My question is for all that are here. What is the average data usage with the One? I have unlimited on 2 lines with Verizon and if something happens to my unlimited I'm leaving.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2

The best thing you can do is to look at your prior data use on vzw.com. Some people use a ton of data, some not so much.
I did this when I switched from Verizon to AT&T and found I only average 3gb. Losing unlimited was no big deal after seeing that.
Research your own use and see how it looks. Switching to AT&T actually saved me a bundle.

I just switched from tmobile unlimited found out I rarely go over 2g so I should be good for 3. And I like att plans got 450 anytime minutes with unlimited cell phone to cell phone no matter the carrier and unlimited text. Almost all my calls are to it from a cell phone so I thought that was cool phone bill should be less then 100

For Verizon, to keep your unlimited you will have to purchase your phone at FULL price. Otherwise, to get a contract price you will have to switch to their 4G LTE plans.
As for how much data the phone uses, that really depends on how often you are around WiFi.

That is like not having unlimited data plan if they will force you to pay extra to keep your plan unlimited.

I have a question and didn't really know where to post it.. so now i have a plan with my family and we all get unlimited 3g data like $30 a month i think..what i wanted to know was if i get a 4g phone like the thunderbolt how much extra would it cost for 4g? or how much extra would it add on the bill?

I was told by a Verizon Rep. that it would not cost anything extra. Unlimited data is unlimited data. You just have to get a 4g phone and hook it up. But, I found this hard to believe so who knows.

How are you getting unlimited data for your whole family for 30 a month. One phone alone on our family plan the data is 30 and the other phone is 24 because of discount.
Am I missing a good deal somewhere lol

Agreed data plans are deff not covered buy family share plans,I have to pay $30 for 3 diff lines each month.Only our minutes and text is included. As for 4G I wouldnt think they charge anything extra besides technically its really not even 4G just an upgraded 3G

Darn I was hoping there was a deal out there. Guess not w/verizon lol. I heard 4g data would be same price as 3g but once again this is verizon we talking about.

4G is same as 3G. I switched from a Fascinate to a Thunderbolt with no problems. They gave me a SIM card with my number from the Fascinate on it and I left the store happy.
I have no 4G towers close to me yet, though.

LTE question

So my girlfriend is going to be getting a note.
But we don't get lte in our area. We hardly get 4g.
Do we absolutely have to add a lte data plan on to our account or could we get like a 3g/4g data plan?
Basically don't want to pay for something we are never going to use.

You can call ATT to verify but I'm pretty sure you can use a normal data plan. Your account needs to be provisioned for LTE for it to work (and with the SIM iirc), but you should still be able to pull hspa+ with no issues.
I wasn't charged anything extra for having LTE provisioned on my account, but I'm also grandfathered unlimited.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
Yeah, it will depend greatly on the actual AT&T person who sets you up. Bottom line is that technically, you can use the Note without being provisioned for LTE. My girlfriend and I both had our Notes set up on our old data plan for a couple of months before a store realized the error while fishing in our account for other stuff.
Ok. I actually just called them.
The guy basically said that no matter what I get for data 3g/4g/LTE its all the same price.
It just depends on how much data she wants.
Can anyone confirm this?
She had a 2gb data plan from like 2 1/2 years ago. They don't offer that so they said regardless we are going to be charged more once we upgrade the contract.
Sent from my Epic Touch using XDA Premium App
Yeah the 2gb plan is no longer available, it's now like 500mb for 20 3gb for 30 and i dint remember how much the 5gb plan was cause i went with the 3gb
The plans and prices are all the same regardless of what smartphone u have. Currently they are $20/300mb $30/3gb $50/5gb with tethering. if u already had a smartphone on an older smartphone data plan you are grandfathered in to that for the time being.

Just keep tabs on your usage with *3282# SEND. These phone are capable of allot of data even if you do not stream audio and video. 3GB is nothing with Play updates, a little web, FB, Twitter, FourSquare, email and Maps... Youtube can easily chew up a few hundred MB in a session.

Verizon took away some of my data!!

Ill try to make this short. Me and my girlfriend both are on the same line, I have the Rezound with 4gb data plan, and she has the Droid Incredible unlimited data. I was cutting it close with over 2 1/2 GB used already, and she with less than 100mb. So we decided to switch phone numbers so i can have the unlimited. So we switch, and i wake up this morning, check on Verizon online, and find out that i now have unlimited, but the incredible now has 2gb instead of 4gb. So now i am 1/2 GB of data over our plan. My gf is on the phone with the CSR trying to get this fixed, they are claiming it was because its not a 4g phone. If it was a phone with 4g i could keep the 4gb. He also mentioned if you go from a smartphone to a non-smartphone on an unlimited data plan, they automatically switch it to 2gb. Has anyone heard of this?
As far as I know what they said is correct

Verizon recently offered 4gb to 4g customers, a few weeks after I got rezzy. I called and they gave it to me. So I assume it is for 4g only.

Yep, Verizon is correct. Chances are you will be stuck on the 2GB plan from now on too. I highly doubt they will give you the 4GB data back.
The 4GB Promo plan was only for 4G phones, when you switched numbers a 4G phone was no longer associated with the 4GB "Promo" data package, so it was reduced to a 2GB standard data plan automatically and it will likely be stuck there since it has been at least a couple months since that was offered by Verizon plus if a VZW rep tries to add it to a 3G phone I am pretty sure it will stop them from doing it, so even calling and complaining or switching numbers back will likely not get your 4GB plan back. I am pretty sure there is some fine print somewhere that mentions this, Verizon is really good about covering their rears with stuff like this.
Verizon was.. Right lol. It's a 4g only promo.

Verizon is not right.... According to their own crap policy they are correct.... Y did they ever offer unlimited data? Oh that's because the 3g Verizon offers could never actually use loads of data... Family share plans are worse than crap... Just because they fallow the crap policies they make doesn't mean they are right.... That would be like saying our legal system is right in patents...

When you add the line and you take one of their phones at the discounted price it will force you to lose the unlimited. If you pay full retail on the new phone you then can ask to keep your unlimited.

Be wary of following advice from the stores that's all I have to say about that. If you currently just have a single line plan and turn it into a family plan they will give you one of the new share everything plans. Unless you're currently on one of the older family plans and you're under 5 lines I believe you could add one and retain the unlimited data on your line. It would just add another montly access charge 9.99 + cost of data plan and other features.
The last time I talked to a CSR they told me that if I change anything that my plan changes. I asked to add tether and they told me I'd lose my unlimited. Don't know how true it is since everyone hears something different.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
When it comes to the VZW CSRs you'll get a different answer everytime you call in. Since there are so many centers and a majority of them are outsourced no one is held accountable for what they say.
Manager at verizon store in my town told me I can get upgrade still keep my unlimited data, they would just put upgrade on one of lines that has 2 basic phones and I be in another 2 year's with unlimited data nothing changes. I'm planning to get DNA this Friday. Just have to find employee that willing to help u out.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
You can change to a shared plan and keep your unlimited data but it will be expensive. If you choose the legacy Nationwide Share Talk and Text plans, you can keep unlimited data on your line ONLY, and still add as many lines as you want. Again, it will be expensive.
I used to be on the 450 minute plan with unlimited text and data...was about 95 a month after tax. I changed to the Nationwide 1400 plan (100.00), plus unlimited text (29.99), kept my unlimited data (29.99), added 2gb for my wife's line (30.00), and there is a 9.99 access charge per line. Add in insurance, my Slacker subscription, and tax, and i am paying about $185 for 2 lines.
You would definitely save money by going to a Share Everything plan.

Officially Onboard! Both AT&T and The ONE

I know folks here are mostly enthusiastic about the One so please encourage me for strong reasons to stay...
I am from Verizon ... giving up their unlimited data plan
And from Galaxy Note 2 ... giving up the 3100 mAH battery...
What do you think, if you were me....
I am so torn but HTC One is just too beautiful to pass
I don't necessarily think the One is worth it, but AT&T gets almost every phone or can use the international version. I switched to AT&T from Verizon 2 years ago for that reason, and there has never been a phone on the market that I wanted but couldn't have Well worth it.

Any folks near New York area using ATT service? Do you have coverage when you have some road trip to Bear Mountain or some other hiking place?
My biggest fear was losing data connection when you need the driving direction the most.
Verizon saved me once in Ithaca back then near those wineries, but I am not sure if AT&T can pull off the same there....
Thanks for any comments here.
I am not so concerned about the unlimited thing because my wife will still be using Verizon's unlimited line in our family plan. Not like I lose such option forever.
I'm from Albany, drive down to Long Island a lot, take the Amtrak train occasionally. LTE is hard to come by, but Hspa is pretty consistent. No complaints at all. I jumped from big red in 2011 and haven't looked back. AT&T has been great to me.

AT&T 4G (at least download speeds) are so much slower than VZW's (from speedtests). The upload on AT&T 4G is slightly faster. Overall happy with the service here.
I'm onboard too I switched from Verizon and I'm pleased with the service! Yeah the lte isn't as fast but I barely use data... I was dropping calls left and right on Verizon and I haven't yet on att

Yeah but basically you are paying twice for the phone. Verizon does not lower the price of their plans which includes a new phone subsidy, then on top of that they take the full price of the phone and charge you monthly for that until you pay it off. And lastly a $24 financing charge. Verizon is the ultimate scam corporation.
