So anything good inside
Sent from from my future Evo 3D. Thank you HTC
What does the bootloader look like on it? I'm guessing it's locked but I haven't seen anyone say for sure one way or the other.

It looks like the same hboot as the leaked ruu so I take it the rom is the same too? If not then that means htc probably could have shipped it with an unlocked one but didn't.

8 days and counting, can't wait.
I spent a good 6 hours last night prepping my Evo 4G for trade in, unrooted it and installed the stock 3.70 RUU, which finally gave me the 4.22 OTA update as well. Had the "main too old, update failed" problem for the better part of 5 hours, solved it by re-doing the mtg-eng.img through adb, the 3.70 RUU went on just fine after that.

Nah it ships with 2.3.3. Kind of lame, but the big question is the bootloader in the 3vo encrypted.

True, but it will nice if HTC did not encrypt the bootloader. If the bootloader is encrypted, it all comes down to HTC keeping their word.

It's really hard to get a device S-Off, look at the HTC One X and One X+, they still don't have S-Off too.
Although you can get HTCDev unlocked, look at the tutorial by nloooooo to see how to do that.
:[
O well i really wanted this but I'll try my luck asking htc support
HTC support will definitely not get your device S-Off, they don't want that.

Remember to hit the thanks button!
damn, this security thing sucks. but hey, if you want to remove system-apks /****ty bloatware you can do so by using aroma file manager in cwm. check "auto mount...." in settings and there you go
just be aware that removing the wrong apks may f*ck up your rom (oh, really?), so a nandroid-backup is recommended :silly:
HTC is taking down websites with custom Roms for their device. Why, if they don't stop this it looks like I will be getting a nexus device next. Here's the article. http://www.androidauthority.com/htc-takes-down-rom-files-across-the-web-150757/ what are your guys opinions?

Unlocking your device yourself will be illegal but the carrier can still unlock it for you ( sim unlock not boot loader )

People are getting upset about something they don't fully understand... This law is for unlocking the phone to bring to other carriers to use... not unlocking or rooting. and our phone comes factory unlocked so there's no reason to QQ here on the DNA forums...
I love the DNA and I hate to say it ... but if this is how it's going to be then my next phone will not be an HTC device. Their build quality and overall hardware is fantastic, but I find it ridiculous that they're going after dev's like this. I'd rather pick up a Galaxy S4 when it's released and unload my DNA if this is how they're going to treat their market/buyers.
Seems HTC didn't want prerelease leaked ruu's out which were obtained by illegal means as the main reason for the shutdown.
If we host a Sense 5 Rom, same thing might happen here I suppose.

I realize IT said that about that one site but the motivation is the RUUs obtained that are hosted on that site. That's the driver. Don't host RUUs and there won't be an issue.

Lets see...
Like the difference in s-off and unlocking the bootloader.
What s-off does.
What is hboot?
What is an RUU?
(Not a term but...) In case of an emergency how would I flash back to stock if I needed to? (Gonna miss Odin for that)
Those are the things I can think if off the top of my head.

Most of that is solved with a simple search. As for the back to stock thing we just got an ruu which is like a one click odin on the Samsung phones.

Unlocking the bootloader = able to flash custom recovery, roms, kernels.
S-Off = lets you flash all of the above, plus radios and downgrade hboot
hboot = underlying firmware of the device, without S-Off its not possible to downgrade this and you generally you want to mess with hboot as little as possible(or not at all) as there's a high potential for hard bricking your device if you do a command wrong.
RUU = basically an ODIN executable oh****button.
Most of the stuff is going to be the same across Android devices, however.
Thanks for the help. HTC seems confusing... Lol

Then it'll reboot back into bootloader and then you can run ruu

He's an asshole cause you're too incompetent to search or read some pretty basic threads ? Then "insult" a fairly prominent dev in the xda community saying his Rom sucks which is a very early release... Man, have yourself a coke and a smile, lighten up a little (maybe seek therapy?) And take a bit of initiative and your experience will be much much better for you (and US) here at xda. Toodles and goodluck there baby girl...

Hmmm sounds like scrosler's Clean Rom may have gotten a little dirty over time! My advice... drop your phone in a bucket of soapy water and give it a good scrub down. Should run great after that
Seriously though... Search for a guide on how to run an RUU. Pretty simple, there are plenty.
