[Q] Problem flashing Rom to system2 via BootMenu Manger - Motorola Droid RAZR

Hello, I've been trying to flash the Australia JB rom,
SPYDERIRD_U.01.6.7.3-94_SPI-328_04.11.01P_0A.74_AUSTRALIA_NZ_CFC_HWp2b_SIGNED.xml.zip,
onto my Asia razr running on ICS.
I want to leave my current ICS as system 1 and flash the Au rom onto system 2, but I keep getting this error.
Finding update package..
Opening update package..
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
Here is what I did:
1.download 4.1.2 kernel and ROM zip file
2.Boot to BMM recovery
3.backup CID and Kernel
4.Flash 4.1.2 kernel , wipe cache
5."install a zip package"
then installation aborted.
Is is not possible to flash stock ROMs onto system2, but only custom ROMs?
If the only way to flash AU rom is onto system1, how would I be able to backup and restore my current ICS? ( Can I even go back to ICS after flashing JB?)
What am I doing wrong here?
Thank you all :good::good:

1. YOU CANNOT FLASH A OFFICIAL STOCK ROM ONTO SLOTS USING BMM OR ANY RECOVERY - You need to flash in AP fastboot using Flash-it or RSD lite.
2. When you have ICS in stock , you are telling its Asian - try to flash only EU JB roms - here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192532 ( Remeber you need to flash EU ICS ROM before updating the OTA as you are in en.Asia- follow the instructions )
3. Since JB is a update over ICS , you cannot go back to ICS as there is no firmware file for this JB ( remember this is an update)

Hi SAJdroid
I ended up flashing a modified JB rom onto system 2 with BMM because I might need to go back to ICS if JB is buggy.
Thank you for answering my questions.:good:

Golden Rule for first time flashers :
1. Backup your system - Nandroid backup
2. Download the fastboot files and keep it ready in your PC with RSD lite - When you brick your phone you dont have much time to flash your system as the battery charging may not work. link : http://sbf.droid-developers.org/ * you will never know how much battery you will be left with if you accidentally brick your phone*
3. If you are afraid you might screw up while flashing a ROM , use Safe Strap instead of BMM ( uninstal BMM before you proceed) - here no matter what you do your stock ICS will be safe ans you wont be able to flash anything over your stock slot . - Most of the ROM's are supported by Safe Strap.
I have bricked my phone so many times but still enjoy flashing - so dont be afraid to try those awesome ROM's and tweaks to feel the real power of your Razr.

Well It worked from me flashing to and from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4 thru cwm..
@Tapa try another rom.. better try flashing jj's official 4.0.4 first.. usually the zip bad errors come when the rom zip is corrupted or incomplete or there is some problem ?update script may be.. so try official 4.0.4first and see before panicking
Guys it was a mediafire error. I downloaded again and it worked. Anyway. When u flash cm10 you flash kernel and rom. so if you flash ics based rom and kernel everything is fine. No need to flash ftf.

[Q] Question about Stock

I was wondering if you can flash the stock recovery while running the Pure Stock Rom? I have read the return to stock thread and can not make heads or tails out of it. One says if you do it this way you still can't Update back to ICS. Another Says You can but you have to add Something to the process. The Radio I think. Is there a clear cut way to return the Note back to stock and be able to update it back to ICS? Or can you just flash the Pure Stock Rom and flash the Stock Recovery that came with the Phone when it had GB on it?
Pure stock from bigfau is rooted ..
Odin .tar is not...
Flash .tar rom via odin ..
Then flash your stock radio via CWM (flash CWM)
Flash counter reset via CWM
Then flash the stock 3e recovery in CWM
Then reboot ...
You will then be able to get update ...as you will be pure stock...g

[Q] CM 11 EXPERIMENTAL NiGHTLY - Error status 7

------------- SOLVED! --------------
Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

please read the thirst post in a rom/kernel/whatever thread. and maybe if you havent done it already you should also read the stickies in general section.
FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works

[Q] how to upgrade Cwm and custom rom doubts.

So I'm running Cwm version 5.8.1.5 and on stock rom. Now I want to put a custom kitkat rom . so for that, do I need to upgrade my cwm to 6.0.4.5?If so then how do I do it( wanna confirm)?
And just so that the process is streamlined, can anyone tell me the exact procedure before and after flashing the rom via CWM?

If you want back-up apps and data with titanium back-up.
Put all the files you need on your phone (CWM kitkat compatible, rom, gapps) reboot into recovery, nandroid back-up, flash the kitkat compatible CWM, reboot into recovery and follow the steps in the op of the rom you want to install.

How to fully unrooted and get into official one plus x device for get ota update offi

Guys iam unrooted my one plus x for getting official ota updates , but after unrooting iam getting ota notification and click on install , but in process of update in recovry mode it says failed and reboot , pls pls help me how to solve this problem and get back to official opx device
1. Download OnePlusOxygen_14_OTA_008_all_201601221550.zip .
2. Just flash it.
3. You'll be on OxygenOS 2.2.0 without any other files to flash. Don't wipe data and cache to retain your apps and data.
The right answer is : you won't have Over The Air. You have to flash it manually as @StraightEdgeKid just said.
You should flash the next updates the same too.
After installing full 2.2.0 ROM, he'll be unrooted completely, and if he has stock recovery, he can install OTA's afterwards, unless he remains on stock.
Yeah but it always depends on the way he rooted the phone. The OneCmlickRoot solution have to be bannished on OPX!
Ofcourse not, if he flashes full 2.2.0 ROM, everything from system will be overwritten, leaving no place for previous stuff in system. /system will be cleaned completely.
Thanks for this. Downloaded the file, flashed through stock "recovery", and voila.
Flash the full ota and after that check you are on stock recovery or custom recovery(twrp) if its custom then flash stock recovery and you will be able to get otas
