[Q] How To Rescue My Phone - No Modding Done - Totally Stock - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This may be an odd one.... Just had the latest ROM from Sammy ( 4.2.1 ) and all has been well until this morning. Left the phone on and charging but woke up to a black screen.
Pulled the battery for 10 mins and when the unit boots just sits on the Sammy i9100 screen. I've tried a few times and once only I got to the point where it was saying it was encrypted and type a password ( never used this feature ).
I can not get in to either the vol +, home, power or vol -, home, power modes but I can get in to download via the jig I have.
I'm thinking some things corrupted but putting a new rom from this state is some thing I've not done before especially as my phone supposedly has the brick bug - another reason I have never ROMed it before now.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.....

[Q] Help I think I bricked my 7500, Options?

So my dad decided to finally get into the android scene after losing a debate over Apple vs Android tablets with me.
Managed to get a P7500DXKI2, White Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G and I've flashed around many android phones/mods and firmwares long enough to know the workarounds of Odin, After reading a major share of the stickied threads I decided to give it a go with what I understood.
Used Odin and the firmware from the provided link below in order to get the job done.
However after flashing the ROM via PDA, It showed signs of "Great Success! " Only to be followed by a never ending bootloop, on other end devices I used to just pop out the battery or hold the power button long enough to get it to a stop. However after doing so the tablet failed to turn on, No light, No icon's and connecting to the computer just resulted in a USB error sound and it can barely get into Recovery Mode let alone :\
I attempted the NVFlash fix [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574] Only to find out that I had a 0x4 error, and my adventure came to a halt.
Started to look around google and most related threads to find out stuff like this happens alot but very few ever share on how they actually managed to kick themselves out from this "stage", Most have recommended that draining the battery helps, some say touching the screen helps too [I assume this is a girl?], other's say that long presses should do the trick, Well I assure you with 5 sore red finger's none have worked. I feel like I should have flashed CWM before the firmware. But I've never come across problems like this with previous android devices.
In a nutshell, Help? I want to get it to boot more than sending it to the retarded service center's that take forever to get your device back.
Ps- It's just 3 days old.
Bump? :< Anyone?
Try this and post back,
1) Hold the Vol Down button (the left Volume button) and then hold the Power button as well.
2) Keep holding until you see two icons. First you'll see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 logo and then the icons will show up. Let go.
Does it work?
Thanks for the reply, But as I mentioned before " it can barely get into Recovery Mode" :\
One of the options was to drain the battery completely, But it's been about 2 days now I've been trying to drain it dry by holding the power button when connected via USB, all I hear is the USB connect sound for a second then in device manager it pops up the USB Driver [One that was included in the nvflash thread.
That 0x4 error suggests that you have a locked boot loader, there may be no other way than sending it back.

It's my phone dead ?

Hi ,
My phone suddenly died on me. I was using Flipboard and after I close it by pressing the power button once short.
After few seconds I wanted to check something else and I push the home button as usual and the lock screen shows up I did my unlock pattern it shows me the green color and then it gets stuck completely froze. I didn’t have any choice than to press and hold the power button. After holding for more then a minute the screen went off but it didn’t vibrate as usual when is all shut down. I took the battery out , put it back and no luck. I tried all the button combination for recovery, download … nothing.
The battery was about 50% when it happened.
I’m on SLIM ICS 4.2 with FLUXI 0.3 kernel and I never had problems up to today.
I tried to charge it and nothing happens , no charging animation..
It’s anything else that I can try or to send it to Samsung service, but that will take more likely few weeks.
I’m lucky somehow as the warranty will expire on August 2.
Thx
You could try a new battery. You could also try a jig. If they don't work, send it in for warranty service & hope they don't notice or care you've been messing with it/been running non stock firmware.
If they do notice/care, you won't get warranty service. If they don't notice/don't care, you will. Getting this fixed under warranty is no certainty as running non stock firmware voids same.

Sounds like a hardware malfunction. Get it serviced mate.
Also even if the charging icon doesnt shows up, leave it plugged like an hour or so and try buttons again
Thanks guys ,
I tried other battery also ,nothing , not even the first Samsung Logo and/or the first vibration when it's on
I kept it plug for few hours or so and still nothing. I don't have a jig unfortunately .
Definetly ,I'll send it to be repaired , luckly is the company phone and I may push it for an SIII if cannot be repaired.
thx.

[NEED HELP!!!]-Won't Boot,Charge,Pulsing like Sudden death(Need DATA from eMMC) I717

I have almost 21 months old AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717.
ROM: Padawan JB V2 || 4.1.2| 5|31
It was working FINE past 21 months without any single problem. I had kept like NEW condition - no major drop accidents, case from day 1.
Without NO Reason, it just died 2 days ago.
- My phone was running just a bit slow last week and few strange losing Bluetooth connection during calls.
- My original OEM battery was swollen a bit.(Again, tried with other battery to fix the current situation and new battery is on its way for another try.)
Here is the current terrible condition::crying::crying::crying:
1. Won't Boot to OS, it just splash Samsung logo and blank screen
I had tried to go into recovery mode by using hold Power & Vol button => Failed
(I went into the recovery mode menu only ONCE from almost 10-20 times tries but lost power again as soon as menu showed up.)
2. Won't Charge, it just keeps pulsing with blank screen
I had tried remove battery and put it back.=> Still Same
I had borrowed exactly same working battery(from other phone) and tried to boot or boot into the recovery mode=> Still Same
=> This process diagnosis to me that it is NOT the battery problem.(BRAND NEW Battery is on its way.)
I had tried remove battery first, connect power charger(OEM charger) and put battery back based on one of post that I found.
=> Again, just splash the screen of battery charge for 1 seconds then goes blank screen with pulsing again.
NOW, this is the situation and options I could think of...
A. I REALLY DO wants turning on at least once to back up the latest data from phone's memory(eMMC).
(My last backup was 2 months ago, but has 2 months of new data(specially photos of my 2 yr. old daughter):crying:
B. Wish to keep the phone. But worst case, might be time to upgrade since it will cost something I am guessing.
C. Any repair/data backup service estimates along with suggestion of vendors/repair center?
Here are questions that I have now...
Q1. Does it sound/look repairable from this Sudden Death like symptom?
Q2. Is there any way to back up data at current situation without OS turned on?
Q3. How does all possible future attempts by using Recovery mode, Kies of flashing to data?
Doesn't any of these erase my data? (I DO need Pros confirmation on this before I perform anything from now.)
Q4. I read some "sticky power button" which I NEVER see symptom of button problem.
(Few repair tips like CRC one conductive type spray cleaning or replacement parts and video)
Does it seem like my problem?
I am not positive on this button issue on mine based on my last uses that all buttons were working fine until it died.
- my personal opinion seems like main logic board related problem.
:crying: Please help me specially to BACK UP the DATA at least.
PLEASE PLEASE! :crying:
Sounds like a stuck power button to me. Try flicking it with your finger a couple of times.

You were CORRECT!
Since I decided to purchase new phone(worst case), I had flicking power buttons hard many times.
Finally, the phone boot up without any trouble and NOW back to normal!!!
(Yes, I just backed up those important things...)
Thank you and hope my information also helps other from sticky power button Samsung galaxy devices.
THANK YOU EVERYBODY specially 440bro!

Bootloop after water damage

I have a KIW-L24 that has been stuck in a bootloop ever since it was dropped into water. The phone was put into rice for 24 hours but no luck. This particular phone is basically stock - no root, no custom roms, etc.
Current state:
When it was first charging, it appeared to be in a bootloop - showed the low battery icon, then black screen, slow battery icon, etc..
Once it had enough power to attempt a boot it shows the first "honor" boot screen, then goes into the bootloop
I've attempting flashing to default firmware - hold power + vol up + vol down - no luck, still continues to the bootloop
I've also attempted getting into fastboot - hold power + vol down - I can get the initial fastboot screen for a second or two before it reboots
Anyone have other ideas before I call this one dead and get a new phone?
Thanks
Seems more of a hardware issue now than software. Visit Service centre if possible. As you tried other stuff already

Please don't try to turn it on for now. Bring it to service center so that they can clean the insides and remove possibly rusts.
Thanks everyone. It doesn't look like there is a service center anywhere near me.

Keep phone off for couple of days and then restart. Who knows it makes a difference

take apart the phone, remove the back cover, then let both pieces sit in a bag of rice for about 3-4 days, same thing happened with my old phone and that did the trick.

Samsung Tab S2 'Power Off' then DEAD - weird!

So, after having two amazing Tab S (first one) and not being able to find a third, I ended up "upgrading" to a Tab S2. (Less screen resolution didn't seem like an upgrade..but hey)
After using it for about a year or so, I finally decided to get off my ass and root it. Had no problems after rooting it. Life was great. Maybe 6-7 months after rooting it, one day it booted up with an FRP lock; I didn't reset it at all so..odd..
Put the tablet aside as I didn't really have time to fix it. Few months later, I decide to pull it out wanting to use it for a project (I'm developing WebUSB FTDI drivers which also worth with Android OTG to allow a web page to access a USB device), I never replaced the original recovery, so my options were limited. I was hoping that perhaps flashing a new ROM that I might be able to keep my files versus just doing a reset in the recovery, which I'm not sure would have worked anyway (FRP) (I'm sure I've seen a device where this worked, IE, any user files were stored actually on a separate partition, thus you'd lose your apps and everything but downloads and such on the internal would be kept). I mean, I figured the chances were low but at least hire than the wipe option - not a huge deal anyway, important stuff is on the uSD.
So, I head over to Samsung's site and download the closest looking S2 rom, it's a SM-T713 (Canada, Gold/32GB/WiFi Only).. The ROM I ended up getting happened to have 4G support, so I didn't get a WiFi only ROM like I should have. Flashed it up with ODIN (AP), didn't change/flash the BL at all.
After flash, tablet booted up fine. It mentioned I would have to log in to google to authorize it (FRP lock) - no big deal, although I'm sure I didn't remote lock it. Do my login, finish the setup. Home screen. Tablet is running fine, nice and snappy.
Installed a few apps, it ran for a few days fine, then I decided I should probably flash it again with a WiFi only ROM, so I hold the power button and get the pop up to shutdown / restart, I press 'Power Off', tablet does it's shut down and powers off.
That's it. Now she's dead. Absolutely no sign of life since then. I tried to power it back on immediately as I had planned on going into DFU and plugging it in to upload another ROM. Nothing. No response. Battery was at 50% when I powered off. No battery symbol or anything when plugged in.
I should not that this was not the tablet's first boot since the flash either; it boot looped due to low battery after flashing a few times (damn samsung low battery boot loops) until I got the power supply plugged in, it was the first time that the "Power Off" option was selected, perhaps it hadn't been reset that way too; something on shutdown change something? I mean WTH?
I have tried:
- literally all key combinations for over a minute (PWR + VOL UP, PWR + VOL DWN, PWR + VOL UP + HOME, PWR + VOL DWN + HOME, PWR + HOME, PWR + VOL UP + VOL DWN, PWR + VOL UP + VOL DOWN + HOME) including while plugging it in, unplugging it
- different chargers, cables (bought brand new one), etc.
- left tablet for 2-3 days hoping it would die
- disassembled tablet, remove battery for few hours, replug battery
I have a USB power meter, when I plug in the tablet, it shows that it's pulling 0.57a constantly. I left it on overnight and it was no longer pulling current, just occasionally going from 0.00a to 0.07-0.10a. When plugged in without the battery, it also occasionally goes from 0.00a to 0.07-0.09a or so. Current usage profile is the same without the OLED plugged in. Something inside is at least slightly functioning.
No components that I notice are getting hot or anything obvious.
It was a gift, thus supposedly refurbished. The device looked great when I got it, no scratches or dings or anything, basically brand new looking so I assumed it had been a return, but upon disassembly, I found evidence that the tablet had been disassembled before, there was two-sided tape holding the screen on instead of any proper adhesive; was such a pain in the ass to take apart and not realizing that this was the case until I opened it only made it harder; regardless I doubt that any prior work could've caused this issue.
Does anyone have any schematics for this device or experienced something like this? I have meters, scope, logic analyzer, etc as I already do a bit of hardware reverse engineering and development.
The only thing I can think is somehow the boot loader got fried? Somehow the modem fw got flashed to boot loader? Is that even possible? I'm really reaching here as I'm really not sure, it's odd how it was working fine, had booted several times yet pressing 'Power Off' killed it when it was working fine. I would like to save this device from the graveyard as it's in great condition otherwise. It did sit for quite a while, so I was worried about the battery but plugging it in after sitting I immediately got the charge screen and it charged right up (even though it was still FRP locked at that point of course).
