[Q] bricked Vodafone smart 2 (alcatel v860) - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hy! i dont know if my phone is completely bricked or not, i must say in the start. ill say what it happened today with it.
I decided to root my phone,i did it by flashing an update.zip file in recovery mode. This worked good, no problems.
After, i wanted to install cyanogenmod. i prepared 3 files of which i read i need. : -ClockWorkMod_Recovery_6.0.3.0 ,CM7-A5 ( the cyanogenmod version) and gaaps.
I entered the recovery mode, and i installed cwm, and made a backup of the system. after that, for no reason i could remember, i didnt continue installing CM7-A5,but i turned on the phone. everything worked, and looked ok. but after, i decided to finish the installation. But when i tryied to enter the recovery mode, i couldnt anymore. and it doesnt start in any way. The Pc is not recognizing it when its connected via usb. (only makes the sound that something is connected, but the filesystem isn't mounted and "adb" and "fastboot" from sdk android does not recognize it).
Now, i press the power button and it freezes at the android logo. Is there any thing i could do ?

Go to recovery?

I'm at the same situation, after a mistake in a TCT Bootloader: i've formatted Misc and more partitions.. and now i'm only with a android logo.
The PC recognize a "Broadcom USB wireless modem" when i connect usb and press contemporary volume-.
Recovery not start (android logo) end download mode normally procedure (volume- and power) not working.
I'd like to test to reflash recovery by Recovery Installer By Sls13 v 2.0! but the driver not run with fastboot mode.. i've tried to install ADB Sdk suite and Java Sdk.. i've the usb-driver original, but my system (win7 32bit) make identification of Smart2 as "Broadcom USB wireless modem"..

i accidentally erased boot and bootloader.nor download mode nor recovery work and my pc recognize it like Broadcom USB wireless modem.Any solution?

[Q] My Galaxy S3 got stuck in a boot loop! What to do?

Hello,
my device (i9300) as mentioned above got stuck in a boot loop.
First I did was I installed the latest pac-man ROM from here. After successful testing I decided to flash the latest OmniRom 4.4 from here.
Now here comes the dilemma with: My Failure was that I had a old Recovery (CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4) and I didn't see the point where it says that I have to update it first.
My USB Connection to my PC was already broken before I started to flash any of the ROMs. So I can't connect to the PC to flash via Odin. It fails on the driver installtion. (I copied everything in my cloud and downloaded it to the internal sd)
The Device Manager shows alwas a ! in a yellow triangle near the "Samsung Mobile USB CDC Composite Device" (Download Mode) with a errer code 10: Device cannot start. I did millions of solutions but nothing worked against this issue ...
Currently my device starts where the Samsung galaxy s3 logo pops up, get stuck by that with a red 1 on the upper left corner and boots into the "old" recovery.
This is my Problem. Please help me to fix this (and the USB bug).
Thank you very much
Kind regards,
A.R.Cante

To fix the USB bug, you must uninstall that driver and download the driver ( try to install kies for example )
To fix the bootloop try to do a full wipe in recovery mode

None of your advices worked. I did unistall all drivers and also Kies. Reinstalled and it doesn't worked. So I uninstalled it again and installed only the drivers but this didn't worked too.
Everytime I uninstall the drivers and connect the device to the PC it is trying to Install the Drivers over Windows Update and Kies isn't reacting at all.
Now since I wiped data/factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cache and formated /system and /preload my device won't start automatically in the recovery anymore. It get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy SIII Logo with the red 1 in the upper left corner. To Access to the Recovery I have to take the battery out and and insert it again and press volume up + home + power.
What can I do now?
Thanks in advance

I tried this now on my Desktop Computer and it worked fine. I didn't need to install drivers manually. It installed it by itself and therefore i was able to use odin!
I flashed the new recovery and put the omnirom and pa-gapps on my sd card (I also tried this on my notebook but my card reader is maybe broken)
so i installed teamwin recvovery over pc, put rom and gapps on my sd card and flashed them over recovery.
Now all works fine.
Thank you for your help.
But what I don't understand is my Win 7 OS (32 bit) is recently set up on my VM everything was fresh but it didnt recognized my device... Google says a lot of people are having this issues. I've tried everything whenever I found allegedly a solution for this problem. None of them worked. I simply switched the computer and everything is fine. This is ridiculous. One year ago, when I had running windows as main OS, there were no problems at all. If the problem was caused by a virtual machine I think that not many people would complain about this issue.
Kind regards
Why would old Win 7 recognize your device unless you install drivers .

I don't really understand your comment. The Problem of this USB error has no root. When your Windows System says error code 10: device cannot start then you have a big problem because you don't know why and how to fix this. Try and Google this. You will find thousands of people complaining the same error. Everyone has other solutions for that. Some edit their registry, others simply do a soft-reset and try another USB-Port.
Samsung support can't help you at all because they don't know why this is happening. And the solving of this problem is really random. i tried for hours to solve this with no success (except switching to another computer).
Windows says on my laptop the device cannot start but it is perfectly connecting to my other computer. How can this happen? I don't know. Maybe the error code 10 is not that specific and there is something other wrong than my device.

[Q] Can't Fastboot

Hi,
I have on my tf201 latest official firmware, 4.1.1 build-number: JRO03C.WW_epad-10.4.2.18-20121122.
As Asus doesn't provide any more updates for our device and mine is out of warranty I'm finally ready to move on to some custom roms.
My tablet is Rooted.
Now after a lot of reading I thought it would be wise to do a backup of everything and make my device unbrickable.
I started to follow the instructions on this site : matthill.eu/android/transformer-prime-tf201-jellybean-nvflash
At first I backed everything up with Titanium Backup and then I did a factory reinstall, so I would have a clean tablet to start.
Then I installed the unlocking tool and succesfully unlocked my device.
I restarted my tf201 with holding the volume button down to get the options to enter fastboot.
When I got to the selection menu, I press the volume button a few times to select the USB-icon.
Then I press the volume up button to enter fastboot, but nothing happens. It just freeze.
The only thing I can do is hold the power button until my tablet restarts.
Also, since i'm on JB I never could connect it on my pc anymore. It even doesn't show up as an unknown device.
So when I want to use ADB I have to use ADB Konnect (wireless ADB).

When you press up on the USB icon and it freezes that it normal.. This is fastboot mode.
You now must access it over a PC after installing the naked drivers.. If it is not showing on your PC then either try a different PC or your cable is faulty.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I tried once more to enter fastboot. Same result.
But when I disconnected my usb cable to connect it to an other computer, suddenly I got this message on my tablet:
"Starting Fastboot USB download protocol"
This message didn't show up before.
I plugged the tablet back to my pc, but still no device detection in device manager, even when refreshing (So I can't install naked drivers, as it is not recognized).
My computer is a Windows 8.1 system.
I restarted my tablet again, (after disconnecting it from my pc) and followed the procedure to enter Fastboot again.
I waited for the message "Starting Fastboot ..." and then I connected the cable to my other pc (Windows 7 system)
Same result as on the Windows 8.1 machine, not recognized
You say it could be that my cable is broken. Maybe, but it's a strange coincidence that this happened when switching from ICS to JB.
I know JB for the tf201 is been out a long time, and I updated since I could. So over time, maybe my cable could be broken now. But I'm sure I had this problem (not recognizing) since then, because right after updating I wanted to do some things with ADB and so I found out I had this problem.

[Q] Flashed Pi****u on Android device, now its in bootloop

Hello,
Edit: First off sorry about the title it Pic Untu without the space I didn't realize it until I posted the question.
I have an android tv box. Model name is cs968 and it has RockChip rk3188, its rooted and i had cwm as recovery.
The device is also mentioned in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457778
I wanted to use a linux distro on it and came across a distro named Pic Untu ; (its not written separately but its getting censored otherwise same with the link below you have to delete the space between 'pic' and 'untu' sorry about that )
http://ubuntu.g8.net/index.php/14-sample-data-articles/86-pic untu-4-5-nand-released
Now I have successfully flashed it without having any problems. But it had no support for built-in wifi or bluetooth so i turned it off as you would a desktop computer ("shut down" from the start menu) and moved it close to a place where i can connect it to ethernet to see if ethernet works. But when I started the device again it stuck in boot loop.
The device is not recognized from windows or linux from adb (but it used to, I've flashed a custom ROM with rkbatchtool from windows, and could connect the device from ubuntu with adb). Also i cant flash it again from a flash drive or sdcard ( although it says it recognizes a usb device or an sd card when booting up).
The only other response i get from the device is that when i press and hold the reset button, it resets and stops booting with an empty screen( this would go to CWM when android was installed)
Last thing is, I have 2 of these devices one of them is untouched so if that helps i can maybe do a nandroid backup and flash it once the adb is working or something similar maybe.
I'm not sure what I can do at this point so any help/pointers is appreciated.
Thank You.

[Q] Bricked (Cant boot, turn on the screen)

Hey guys,
So I wanted to try out the newest CM12 ROM with A5.0 but seems like it didnt exactly happen how I wanted it. Rooting the device and then installing the XZDualRecovery without a problem. Then downloaded the ROM and gapps.
I have SGP311 (pollux_windy) so I downloaded that version of the CM12 at first. It said that my device is pollux, which I ofc was dumb enough to just skip and download the pollux ver and then install that one. So I installed the pollux ver instead of pollux_windy and when I hit restart device I didnt see it boot again.
So I wanted to connect it to my PC, PC didnt recognize it ofc. Only way my PC regonizes my tab is by fastboot mode. I had to install a driver for that. And even then only the Sony Mobile Flasher by Androxyde recognised it. I run into bootloop various times before with my tab and Emma always fixed it but thats unfortunately not the case here as Emma doesnt recognise it either :/
So now here's the problem, I can only do fastboot mode (not flashmode) and the only program able to do sth with my device is this Sony Mobile Flasher. I downloaded a official FW there and wanted to install it but it required me to go into the flashmode which I can't.
Is there sth I can do? The only thing working is the LED and fastboot mode.
Is there a way to put the device into flashmode via PC, that would solve all issues or maybe a trick to go into flashmode? As there was some thread about it but the thing they did didnt work for me :/
Please help
Thanks in advance
Nevermind, I just forgot how to use Emma....
For anyone to whom this happens:
Computer: Open Emma from the Start menu of your computer.
Connect a USB cable to your computer.
Phone: Turn off your tab.
Connect your tab to the USB cable while holding the VOLUME DOWN.
Computer: Select the software you want to flash in the Service list. The tool automatically detects the tab and lists available software versions, which are called Services in this flash tool.
Click on Apply Service. The tab will now be flashed.
Phone: When you have flashed your device, you can disconnect your phone from the computer. The first time you start your device after you have flashed it, the boot-up might take a little longer than normal.

If you gotta Recovery access AND the latest and BUMPED recovery (for example TWRP), you can still try to flash THIS:
-download the ROM from the PC;
-then, install ADB on linux or windows;
- 'adb push path_to_TOM_on_your_PC (for example, on linux, '/home/user_name/Download') /sdcard/Download (folder where ROM will be pushed in your device);
-Then try to flash the ROM.
It seems weird that your device isn't recognize with Linux, but try this still..
@almars are you on stock? What caused your problem?
There is indeed a chance to save your phone. 99%chance
so before I had stock but now I do not think any system.
One day shut down with the message "the system will now be turned off" and began to restart. From that moment, the computer does not detect my phone. I started the recovery and performed Dalvik cache, date etc. I can start download mode but it is the lack of communication with the computer.
Now, after the power is turned LG logo already is and end, nothing happens
Hi casual_kikoo , unfortunately I can not use the ABD because the computer does not recognize the phone.
Drivers from LG and ADB, of course, installed

For me it does not work "Since the phone turned off, press power + vol down, release as soon as the logo appears and then hold vol down + vol up"
If nothing works you may have to open the phone to unbrick it and flash the right stock files to it. Also see general for several unbricking guides to see or you could still fix your phone without doing that.
