[Q] SIMPLE Mobile Increased speeds? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

Is there anyway to increase the Simple Mobile speeds on the One? The phone is T-Mobile and Simple Mobile uses TMO's towers so is there anyway of increasing 4G speeds? I don't even get 2 mbps its terrible...

From my knowledge is that they use Tmobile speeds at a Max of 21mbps. Not lte could be wrong tho

I know that they don't have as much speed as T-Mobile and they don't have LTE but isn't there someway I could make my connection a bit faster?

The only thing i can tell u is leave simple mobile.they throotle.go with solavei they give u real tmobile speed. And heard they have lte enable.

I left simplemobile, and switch to tmobile... about 2 months ago... if u pay the 50plan, i got a text after using netflicks for 10 minutes, that i was abusing the internet or something like that, then the next day i used pandora for 10 minutes or so on the drive home, i got another text say my data will be discontinued, i called them, they said its only for web browsing u cant even use youtube... i had to wait for the next pay period to get my data, so i went back to the 40 plan... i used pandora all day long for 4 weeks, and never received a text,
stay on the 40plan,
do what i did, i went to tmobile.. i have 4 lines for 100, i put my uncle and his wife and me and my wife.... he was paying 100 at metro.. i was paying 100 at simple,
i charge him 50, and half of the tax....
he pays less than 70, saving him 30 a month.. i have insurance on my phone and my wife, thats 12 each for both my ONE'S, and 10 for more data on mine,,, i pay 96, i think..
i rather pay 100 with insurance for extra data and insurance and better speeds. i gonna bring in my cousin, and get 5 for 110... charge him 40. saving him 13 a month, so i can save more, so i can get unlimited data for 70 for my line...

I used to have Simple Mobile 4G plan with a Nexus 4 and speed is great. Usually around 18mbps until I switch to Tmo unlimited, no cap plan.

[Q] how much data use will get me in trouble.

I've used aalot this month so far. About 5 gigs in the week. Just curious when sprint draws the line. I would assume I can use a decent amour since its unlimited but I know about "fair use acts" but just curious what others have used in the past.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
I use 5-7 every month without issue. I know that is not a lot. A friend uses 20-25 a month and has never been flagged.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
i use 30-40gb per month, as long as you dont use more than 200mb of roaming you will be okay
Cool I got an update I think today. Was tethering to my pc and syncing a repo. Got an error code 67 failed to make a data connection. Then I got a popup about not being on a data tethering plan. To contact sprint to change my plan. I ignores it LOL. But needed to do a battery pull to get data back. Been fine since then though.

You might wanna be careful with that. I work at sprint and the policy is on roaming you're allowed 300 mb a month.. After that you're supposed to be charged I think 20 cents a meg
the older contracts allowed for unlimited roaming, if you updated your contract a few months after the evo 4g launch you are limited on roaming, if you have a contract from before then you have unlimited roaming
I used to do 10-15GB per month, on average, and never got any warnings or issues. This, of course, was before I had the advantage of WiFi.
I've got no internet but my 3g so I usb tether my 3d to the pc. Just noticed I rack up data. I figured close to 20 gigs this month. I ordered a 25 foot usb cable and a wireless reciever for up on the roof. And on my ubuntu I can crack 99 percent of the WiFi around here. So just gotta wait till I get the cable and stuff. Just didn't wanna go overboard. Thanks.

Good lord... 40 gigs a month? Haha, I've been worried about 10.

New att throttle policy really not affecting my usage

after being throttle to .6 mb this cicle i have to say im not seing a difference in my usage
i currently am at 9gbs of usage this month and am able to still stream my nba games live at throttled speeds still.
i currently am doing my parctice were i use my phone a lot for video chat and photo taking for price checking and inventory.
I aint tryying to denfend att in no way in fact i did start a complaint here in puerto rico fcc equivalent when this whole five percent thing started to the point of having to talk to there customer service manager.
But is it really affecting you guys as much?

That sucks. That almost happened to me this time when I changed my phone to GNote from Atrix. ATT tried to pull a fast one by charging me the same price for 3gb of data. It wasn't a difficult process but they did have to make a claim. Nowadays even supervisors can't change the plan... Thankfully, i keep a good eye on my usage.
I wonder if you guys can get the unlimited data plan back with the iPhone 2G (aka Original iPhone) trick. Get an old iPhone, activate it on iTunes and it will get you the unlimited data plan since that was the only plan available for the iPhone 2G. Don't know if that loophole was closed but some people have claimed they tried it in December and it was still working as of then.
EDIT: Looks like that loophole has been closed and no longer works
Beats getting overcharged i guess buat am able to use my phone normally so maybe now att is using there heads
or you can go the verizon way and have an 10gb plan (20gb if ya bought it at christmas time)
now theres a plan i dont think anyone will cross

They've been doing it for months and its everywhere not just in select areas but most people wouldn't ever use enough data to get throttled.
The only real change is that now they've set the throttle cap at 3gb for HSPA+ phones & 5gb for LTE phones. Up until last month they were basing the throttling on being in the 'top 5%' of other users in your area, which resulted in people on 'unlimited plans' getting throttled under 2gb.
Whoops I hitbthebthanks button. People are not getting throttled like they are supposed to. Its pretty easy to see. They are being selective

Well thanks for the thanks anyway lol.. I was always suspicious of how they were throttling but now that they've set some actual numbers in stone I feel a little better about it. I'm a little irritated though that I pay for two identical unlimited data plans (for the past 5 years) and now one gives me 3GB while the other gives me 5GB.. even though I pay the same for both.. Oh well, its better than randomly being throttled at 2GB I guess.
At about 6.5gbs (which is pretty low for my average monthly usage) and have not been throttled even after reviving notification.

Well...it is true that they are supposedly trying to only throttle in areas that are congested

I just got the same message on mine today. I changed the message to 8 gigs instead of 2. Let's see how long it takes me to reach THAT plateau!
i'm confused, mine shows 0.00MB for the last month and I know that's wrong since I use the internet all the time during lunch (non-wifi). Not that it matters on Sprint, but I'm trying to gauge usage if Sprint's NV rollout doesn't improve my service so I won't get screwed if I move to VZ.
gonna see if it's a known bug on MeanICS.

If you average more than 2GB on the go, you're screwed. $30 = 2GB, $50 for 5GB. (VZW)
$30 for 2GB is a joke IMHO. For limited data, $30 for 4-5GB sounds reasonable.
I laughed at AT&T when they told a guy he could use his WiFi when he was near his 2GB limit. He told them "That's great & all but are you going to be paying my home internet bill when I go over, what's the point?"

3G?.. Lol, after 2 gb you are down to dial up speeds... You can't avoid that no matter which plan you choose on prepaid. Atleast on the tmo plan you have 5gb which is pretty epic.
If you want truly unlimited, you are stuck with Sprint contract plans. And they are only unlimited because they are slow as ****.

I dont care about phone calls btw. I will be using Groove IP to make all my calls like I do now I just need a decent usable data connection.
How about H2O? I use it and get at least 1mb up and down. Sometimes I would get 2mb up and down. Its not as fast as everything out there but I do live in long island. Might be different in other places and you don't need to unlock your note. Just put in the similar card and download an app to configure data and SMS. And your good to go. $60 a month is better than $170 a month

Straight Talk is the way to go, I have been using them for about 2 months (still have Verizon but wanted the Note). Straight Talk is unlimited everything (45 a month) and I have had no issues in WA State. I am running my note off the AT&T sim on their BYOD program and most custom Roms have me at HSPA+ or 3G depending on my location. My download speed has averaged out at 2.83 Mbps but certain locations like Seattle I pull 6.35 Mbps consistently, I have had bursts as high as 10 Mbps in various locations. I leave my Wifi on and when I am not flashing Roms like I am on Crack I store free Wifi everywhere I go so I am connected to AT&T hot spots and other Wifi that is free. I was very concerned coming from my Razr Maxx where I was getting 36 Mbps consistently but after 2 months I probably will not renew any of my other contracts with providers, this just works well and I buy to many phones. Some more answers to this question below.
My speed has never been capped but I have read online in various forums that Straight Talk drops you to 3G after 2Gb of HSPA+ use, but my speeds are consistent and I check everyday waiting to see if they will cap me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525371

No have to order online straight talk.com.
But I've been getting really slow speeds from them the last two months...they throttled me the first month on my atrix 2 and after that super slow(speed test.net app won't even work).

Straight Talk works very well for most people. I did receive a call from them my first month saying that I was using too much data right after I hit the 2 gig limit.
As others have said, the sim card is only available online, however they are getting ready to start a pilot program to allow them to be purchased in Walmart stores.
Another option might be T- Mobile. Walmart has a plan for $30 that gives you 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited 3g data(up to 5 gigs). You just have to flash a tmobile modem to have access to the 3g/4g

On straight talk you'll get at&t's marketing version of 4G which is really HSPA+ or slightly faster 3G. The only way to get the LTE is to be on an actual at&t plan and live in an LTE area.

One piece of advice if you're contemplating going with Straight Talk. CS sucks, most users have come to a conclusion that under 100MB/day and 2GB/mo is the going rate. Go over any of the above, depending on the population on your general location, even under those numbers, if you're in the top 5% of users, they will throttle you, once throttled, you'd have to FB them or call their CS and be prepared to wait, one good thing is that I've read on howardforum that you'll get either a voice or text warning you of excessive use. If you continue to use excessively, you will not get any more warning, ST will shuts you off and lose your phone number. I've been using their service for about 2 months now and as long as we play by their rules, $45.00 + tax a month is pretty good. My download in Honolulu is a steady 3MPS and 900kbps uploads + or -, give a few. One other thing is prepaid, you have to refill before you run out, there's no grace period, best thing is AUTO REFILL.

Perhaps it's best to wait for T-Mobile note release and see if we get a more stable modem firmware out of it. Blaze modem is not the most stable one. I mean it is the most stable T-Mobile modem (for me) as far as tmobile modems for the note go, but it works best in weak signal areas, has poor connectivity in high signal area (weird, I know) and drains battery a lot faster even on wifi.
I wish I didn't have to order the SIM card online that's the only part that sucks.

Two AT&T notes side by side (west Chicago land)... one with a new Straight Talk SIM the other with contract AT&T LTE sim....
The ST note got just over 5 meg (4G) and the AT&T LTE note's Speedtest.net wouldn't complete :crying: unless the ST note was idle then it got just over 6 meg (LTE)
I'll have to see if the ST Note gets throttled.
