Hey GUIs...I recently used the HTC official unlck to unlock ny EVO 3s and then I installed a ROM...I thought that the ROM might be the problem but it wasn't....first off when I installed it my Wimax, camera,WiFi, or video playback didn't work...she. I flashed the damn Sprint ROM back and still had the sane problems? Any thoughts?
What rom did you install? Did you install the kernal to go with that rom? Did you re-install the stock kernal when you went back to the stock rom?

You need the appropriate kernel for the rom to run properly. Kernels for each rom should be listed in the rom thread. If you are on hboot 1.5 you will have to flash the kernel separately in the bootloader or with the Flash GUI app.

so even with me messing up the kernel once if i find the correct kernel everything will revert and work? because when i flashed miui it stuck on the startup screen and never loaded past that so if i find the kernel that solves everything?
I would at least wipe cache and dalvik after flashing the kernel. If you run into problems, you may need to fully wipe, then install the rom from stratch, then install the kernel right after.

Well yeah thats the problem i did it using the flash gui app...the first kernel i tried which was a tiamut kernel didnt load....so i used rcmix_3d_evo_kernel...it accepted, when it went into reboot. it never loaded after that. But now when i go into my recovery...i can actually unpack that zip now. when beforehand, it would alwasy fail...does that mean something? im trying the way you just said by flashing it, then wipping the dalvik and cache and then flashing my rom, basically right now im bricked unless this works, and the way to help me not be bricked doesnt work because megaupload has been seized so i cant get the cwm to make my sd card. RUU doesnt work to flash it back to stock. Im pretty much stuck with a bricked phone...hopefully i find a way around this. theres a thread on here that refers to other people being bricked from this exact kernel.

Hey you really helped me, i ended up being bricked but what i had to do was flash the kernel twice or idk exactly which worked but i had to fastboot flash the boot.img from the ROM i were gonna use and flash the kernel...now all of my things are back working, 4g, wifi, video playback and everyting...the thing is the kernel was a defective kernel IF NOT FLASHED CORRECTLY.
I have S-Off, the leaked May Hboot, an ICS ROM (Nils' Business ICS 3.4 S-off version), but the ICS radios simply do not work.
Today I tried them and had barely functioning cell reception, crap battery life, and only 1x data.
Then I flashed the OTA GB radios, and everything was perfect. Lightening fast 4g, killer cell reception, and great battery.
Why?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Try this one. There are a couple floating around that may have problems but this one works for me
ICS Latest Radio
Just remove everything in the name before the PH and flash in bootloader (I know, you know this but others may not)
May also want to match the kernel
Thanx, Nils. I'll try it after work today.
BTW, I'm on your new kernel release, and it's running great.

What you say makes perfect sense, and I even agree with you.
There's just this tiny voice in the back of my head that keeps shouting "Yeah, but WHY?!?"
After updating radios, may need to have stock recovery installed and do a factory reset in hboot, then reflash recovery, rom, & kernel.

Just mentioning is all. I had issues myself with data+voice until doing the above. Now I have spot on 4g and calls are crystal.
EDIT:
That was with the older leak, same radios.

+1 you probably NEED to do this.. I know I always do..
In superchilpil's firmware thread he does say to wipe and reinstall or you'll have 4g problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614366
"YOU MUST FACTORY RESET IN THE BOOTLOADER TO FIX DATA ISSUES"
Actually it was Snuzzo who informed me that I need to do that after not reading all the words on the flashing instructions. You know figured I would just skip that part well thats fine if you want your data dropping in and out, no 4G and just general ****tyness..
I did a wipe/factory reset in bootloader, and then restored a CWM Backup of Nils' ROM.
When that didn't work, I did it again and wiped everything and started over with a fresh install... No joy.

You have to have the stock recovery in order to factory reset in the bootloader. If you have a custom recovery such as cwm or ra it won't do the reset needed for the radio to work correctly.
Flash stock recovery
Factory reset
Boot to make sure radios work right
Fastboot install custom recovery
Restore backup

Just got a GSIII today and have been trying some JB ROMS out, but so far I have not been able to get WiFi working at all with any of them.
I have tried Vanilla RootBox, LiquidJB and SuperNexus but whilst I can see my WiFi AP on all of them and can enter my password all I get is the "Connecting..." message for ages before it gives up?
WiFi works fine on the stock ROM, and there are no obvious settings on the WiFi router itself which would be causing this.
Any advice appreciated!

Thanks, I just spotted a couple of threads mentioning this.
Couple of questions, when you say flash back to stock does that mean through CWM Recovery, or some other way? Does it have to be a straight flash to a downloaded stock ROM or am I able to just "restore" the backup I made?
Thanks again!

Cool, so I've got Odin (I believe that's what I used to root the phone?) Is there a specific .zip I need to flash back to? Also do I need to boot back in to the stock ROM or just stick JB straight back on again?
Please note, when you have flashed back to ics you need to then set up phone and connect to Wi-Fi once, then proceed to flash jb

Excellent. Do I need to download a specific "Stock ICS" ROM to do this? Any pointers as to where I can find this?
Thanks for the help people
I seem to remember I just flashed an old wannamlite Rom in cwm
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
These ones. (4.0.4)
Or try http://fus.nanzen.se/
This is if you want to find the original firmware your phone came with.
I'm still not having much luck with this.
Should I be wiping before I flash back to ICS, and then again before back to JB?
I think a wipe before flashing ICS is enough.
But watch the youtube video on the first post on :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
It pretty much explains every part of returning to stock ICS. From there it is just reflashing JB with odin and wifi should work.
Hmm, still not having much luck. I've installed my JB ROM, wiped, gone back to stock ICS using the ROM from the link provided above in ODNI.
But now when I try to reboot in to recovery to re-flash my JB ROM I seem to get a different version of recovery from what I had before and it fails during verification when I try to flash the .zip.
Any advice welcome!
I'm having the same problem here.
BUT, even flasing stock ICS and flasing a custom JB ROM after that does not solve the issue.
Here is what I did in what order. Maybe I'm missing some essential point or whatever:
- full wipe in cwm recovery
- flash stock ICS via Odin (I9300XXBLH3_I9300DBTBLH4_I9300XXLH1_HOME.tar)
- reboot and test WiFi. WiFi works fine! Firmware is 4.0.4
- flash CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 to gain root again
- boot into CWM Recovery, format /preload (to get rid of apps installing themselves on boot)
- another full wipe
- install zip from sdcard (tried AOKP JB build 4 for i9300 and ParanoidAndroid v2.22)
same old ****! WiFi not conecting!
I would apeciatie any help to solve this problem for me. Aparently reverting to stock ICS has solved this for others but I dont get what I'm donig wrong her...

Okay so I Re-rooted with CF-Root through ODIN and have got CWM recover back, but now when I re-flash JB I still get the same problems, try to connect to WiFi and it just sits there saying "Connecting..." and then gives up!
Is there a specific set of steps for doing this? I connected to WiFi whilst back on the Stock ICS ROM (LG8) and that worked fine, I have tried various combinations of wiping/not wiping at each stage in between JB->ICS->JB with no luck. Do I need a particular Stock ROM to go back to, do I have to use a specific version of ODIN/CF-Root/CWM?
Very annoying as everything else about the Jelly Bean ROMS seems perfect!
Has anyone worked out why JB ROMS are doing this?
I have the same problem
It seems to work for some people to go back to ICS and then flash JB ROMs, but somehow it does not work for us..
I'm trying an old stock ICS now and the will flash cm10. lets see if that helps
I've downloaded a selection of stock and custom ICS roms to try with the process, hopefully something will do the trick!
Also I don't think changing router settings can have anything to do with this as it works fine for every other device I own, including a different handset running JB. However out of curiosity I spent last night playing with all the settings to see if anything would help. It didn't
U said u flashed back to stock.... In that case u lost cwm then ur gonna hafto re flash cwm

so right now i am rooted with a stock rom (de-bloated by me) I would like to update to this here is what i plan to do help me out if I am missing something
make backup(done)
I would prefer not to wipe data but I probably should..
wipe davlik cache/cache
install ROM via CWM
then flash kernel in fastboot
I would like to update to the new radio if possible but saw where someone said that you have to be "locked or re-locked" to flash radio.img in fastboot.. is this correct.
if all else fails RUU back to stock or restore backup

Make a nandroid first then:
I flashed the boot.img (in fastboot in bootloader) that I linked at the bottom of my post (the one my Zone23, because it's from the OTA)
Booted into recovery and did a Factory Data Reset (if you dont there is a possibility that you will get a bootloop or wont boot at all)
Wiped Cache and Dalvik
Flashed the ROM then flashed the modules that come with the boot.img
Then either boot up or flash any other .zips
First you need to backup all of your sdcard to your desktop because you will lose it all when you proceed with the following: In order to get the latest radio you need to run fastboot oem lock to re-lock the bootloader then run the RUU to get back to stock then take the OTA and then unlock the bootloader again with the Unlock_code.bin file which I plan on doing later today

Rom has been Updated Shouldnt have anymore flashing issues
so i loaded your ROM today and here are my notes.
i downloaded the new version and moved the updater script to my zip.. ( I always unzip roms and de-bloat more and add my sounds, etc...)
I made a nandroid first.
then all i did was wipe davlik/ and cache.
Install update all went well booted up just fine
I was on elkay's 0.9.5 kernel on first boot so wifi didn't work so i flashed the stock kernel and modules.. wifi came back just fine
So i did not wipe data.. and on a side note now Angry Birds Star Wars HD (which I already had installed) works...
So far I have had no hiccups at all..
I did try to flash the new radio in fastboot just for kicks but it failed..

It will help anyone who whats just the stock 2.04 kernel to use with my rom but inside my .zip is that same boot.img but what Im thinking is that there isnt any code in my updater-script that tells it to write the boot.img to the boot partiton so that is most likely why it doesnt write it which i will fix in another update

I don't have a suggestion, but I'm a little surprised. I have been on SnowJB v1.1 for a couple months, and have never had an issue with GPS. It worked well, and locked position very quickly. I assume it worked for you when you were stock?

If you are using twrp recovery try cwm, it worked for user dbgeek in SlickJB thread.
I was using CWM, tried 3 different roms, flashed mako radio, JB radio, and now LGNPST....and still the gps is not working. is my phone ****ed?
It was working fine up until today when I felt like trying a new ROM, I was on snowjb, with the new modem working fine. As soon as I flashed GPS no longer works. Not even the icon comes up, like the hardware is on but not doing anything
I'm on cwm. I'm thinking I LGNPST back to stock, update via the OTA and see if that fixes things.

Go back to stock!!
Ok got it working, here is what I did.
1. Downloaded ICS modem, flashed it cleared cache/factory reset/system
2. installed slick rom v2 (slick rom is the only one that has worked, tried a couple others with this method)
3. at this point, the gps icon was flashing but not locking, either way a good start. So I went into cwm, cleared cache, factory reset again and flashed the at&t jb modem
4. Reboot, viola it works.
I don't know why it'sd not working on nocturnal or snow's rom. Hope this helps.

I LGNPST my phone to 11c then OTA'd to 20j, completely stock and its still not working. I've got all the GPS settings on but everytime I use google maps and press the locate icon, I get the "Waiting for location" then "Your current location is temporarily unavailable"

I cannot thank you enough for this! I tried almost everything but this actually got my gps to work again!!! Thank you so freaking much!!!! You need to make like another thread so that others can see this and not lose hope like I almost did!
*All this done on CWMR Touch*
ICS Modem:

Slickv2:

After you get it working on Slickv2, you can restore your back up, hopefully you made one, then you re-flash the JB modem and you should be all set!!
Note: When I restored my back up, I advanced restored everything but cache. Don't know if this makes a difference or not.

I did all that and still no joy with the GPS. Are you sure you only have GPS enabled? I can get location lock when I have the get location from wifi and mobile networks, not with GPS alone.

Yeah same for me. GPS worked on Slick, then flashed back to Rootbox and it didn't work. Waste of time but at least maybe this info is helpful to find a solution for all.
