Swipe down on your lock screen and tap the icon that appears

There is not much you can do with security enabled...either that message screen (you can customize the message by the way) or the clock, No third party widgets unless you revert to slide to unlock. The demo of hover mode is pretty cool, though, but i will take security.

I currently run a Epic 4g on sprint.
I am switching to a Sidekick 4g on tmobile.
On both of these devices iv always wanted an app to run a service in the background that would turn the screen off on the closing of the slider. So that to unlock the phone I press the slider open, then when I close the slider the phone turns the screen off and locks.
Seems simple.
Does anyone know of an app for this?
Could I pay someone to write the app?
It needs no UI, no anything.
When slider goes from open to close, screen off.
Any input?
***EDIT***
By slider i mean the slide out keyboard, just so there is no confusion

Try Widget Locker, you might be able to set a slider to perform that function...

Figured it out with tasker. As well as like 10 other things i wanted to fix.
Sweet app. Well worth the 7 bucks...
thank you guys!
How?
Don't leave us so happy withput telling us too...
When riding in a car and trying to access the contact list, the list will reset to the top contacts if you quit scrolling the contacts. For example if you scroll down to "Smith", stop the scrolling, the contacts will reset to "Adams". I cannot dial the contact it resets so quickly.
I cannot replicate the problem motionless.
Is there a setting that would stop the problem?
I am running Clean Rom 4.5.
Double tap to top is enabled in Settings --> Motion. Disable that and you should be fine.

Is it possible to have the multi-floating window app instead of the split screen app if running in phone mode? I like the big layout of phone mode but dont want the softkeys for home, back, ect.... Only want to use floating multi when I long press back instead of split screen? Is that possible.
You can try in the xposed app settings module, or you can run phablet, with soft keys. Rhis will give you floating window at the expense of having soft keys. I would love rablet mode with icons in phone mode. Good question.....

Yeah. The phablet mode is not really my issue. Its not a problem for me to change the DPI of the apps I use.. Its things like the notification bar is too small and I'm not a fan of the split screen in the settings. I also don't like the softkeys. I don't need screen real estate wasted for duplicate buttons

In right there with you on soft keys and I'm hoping a new version of Moon ROM will have some way to allow you to get rid of the Nav Bar/soft keys similar to how you can get rid of it on ParanoidAndroid by setting the Nav bar to 0 in Hybrid settings.

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere else. I've tried searching the forum but it's so vast I've not been able to find an answer.
I have an un-rooted Galaxy S3 which I've just upgraded to Android 4.3. I was hoping to be able to use Dashclock to have lockscreen widgets enabled along with the pattern protection I use. However, it seems that Samsung have disabled the ability to have multiple lockscreens and add other widgets to it.
Is there any way around this without rooting my device, which I really don't want to do?
Thanks in advance.

Here is how, but maybe not the solution that you need
Hi! I found that in order to get lock screen widgets to work on a Galaxy S3 you need to unprotect your lock screen by selecting SWIPE as the security screen lock (pattern, password, or PIN protection will disable third party lock screens.) Once you have set the security screen lock to SWIPE you will see the options for third party lock screen widgets.
It is a real shame that Samsung is restricting us from using third party lock screen widgets while using a true security screen lock option.
I hope that this helps.

Well, can you then tell me how to do it? Because as soon as I use any security screen lock other than swipe, all lock screen widgets options disappear and swiping from the left on the lock screen stops working too, so no widgets can be added. Just in case, I am using the TMO flavor of the Galaxy S3.
Hi, guys. I hope my post doesn't break any rules around here.
I have an Asus Zenfone 7 Pro, and I'm using gesture navigation. Sometimes, in landscape mode, it's harder to go to home screen by swiping from the side.
The phone has the "smart key", which is basically the power button with fingerprint sensor on the side. It has the option to customize it for various functions or shortcuts, but not to act as a home button. It has the option to open a certain app.
So, is there a way to make the simplest app that when opened it will send you straight to home screen and close itself? I'm trying to avoid rooting the phone for this.
Please
This may help.
On Samsung's I run One Handed Operation plus to allow multiple swipe gesture based switches from the sides of the display.
The link above describes how to implement a similar XDA app on non rooted phones.
