Best Rom? - HTC Droid DNA

What is the best rom do you think and why?

1st of all your not supposed to ask for the best Rom on XDA by any ways as it is against the rules
2nd your supposed to experiment and find the one that suits you the best
3rd if your really disperate and can't find a Rom go ask a friend on fb or somewhere else just not here

There's not an answer. It's like asking on XDA "what's the best phone" . It all comes down to personal preferences and what you like and look for in a rom. For sense 5 I recommend spending about four or five days on NOS, then trying some of the other sense 5 roms. For AOSP Roma, there's a ton of them that are great and it's personal preference where to start with them. I run NOS M7, badseed customs tranquility and a rom that's posted on the team bamf forums on a fairly regular basis.

Bacardi makes a decent rum

It's definitely personal preference. This is my first root and I went with badseed all because of my experience with skins on my non rooted rezound. Mcluvin was the only one that has skins that were lag free. And as far as I know he is still with bad seed. But otherwise I was going to try a different one. BUT I couldn't be happier.

New To EVO3D, whats the BEST rom.

Hey how is everyone. My nexus s 4g broke and i bought a evo 3d off of Ebay and i was wondering what was the best rom for this phone. Now im used to the stock ICS feel i was wondering if there were roms that similar to the ones on the NS4G, im not a noob but looking at the language in this forum its different from what used to in the NS4G forum. What are some of the best kernels? (im used to using Mathkids Matr1x) and what about roms?? Thanks if anyone can help. God Bless.
Ughhh, I swear if I see another "best rom" thread I'm gonna slap a baby.
There is no "best rom" that we can give you. Every rom has very different features for different users. Some are made for performance, some for battery life. Nobody can tell you what the best rom for you is. One of the benefits of rooting is you can easily switch roms whenever you want. So try one out for a few days, if you don't like it, try another.

In my humble opinion:
Sense based: ZR3dX (see my signature). Everything works since it is based on what HTC released. Smooth, great battery.
Sense removed: d3rp ICS. Based on sense, but with the sense removed so everything works, but a few minor things (like no shortcuts from lockscreen since no Sense)
AOSP: CM9 Devil Toast. Everything works but 3d, but it is not as smooth as the dev would like yet.
Of course, to each their own. Even my opinion could change tomorrow. That's the beauty of it. Flash one today, try a new one tomorrow. Here is the Evo 3d CDMA development forum for you to choose from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1098
I'd totally agree with coal686 on the AOSP rom. Tried a few "AOSP"s and I'd say its a close call between CM9 and NonSense 3.1. Found a bug using 3rd party camera apps with NonSense, and although there's no 3D with CM9 its a way tighter rom! Definitely recommended.
(these are GSM recommendations, btw)
For cmda I recommend miui v4 or meanrom ics.
Well i am using anryl's own rom and his 30.07 kernel and have my evo 3D overclocked to 1.5GHZ =D i recommend using them if u have any problems feel free to PM me

[Q] What are considered the "best" HTC EVO LTE ROMS?

I'm currently on CM10.1 and love it, but what are the absolute best ROMs for this phone?

You would need to define your criteria for "best" first.
For me, "best" ROMs are ROMs that give me better speed, more features, and similar stability to stock. I also keep my devices for a pretty long time. So as they age I look to the community for support in keeping up to date. Hell, I still have a Tegra 2 tablet (Gtab) and my old Hero C laying around.
In this respect, I have had very good luck with ViperROM on the LTE. YMMV

I believe the apk has to be modded to work with sense. I tried restoring some aosp system apps on a sense rom and just got FCs. Clean ROM used to have a bunch of modded apks but I think it's been abandoned...haven't seen any out there for 4.1.2 yet.

This is always going to be a question that never has the perfect answer. It depends on what you want/need. Go sense if you want the classic evo look and just want the basic experience its for people who don't care as much about making the device faster and better, they just want it to work and the only real reason they rooted it was to get rid of the bloatware. Keep it simple stupid. Honestly sense is fast, but aosp is is much more reliable and stable. Sense kernels have that small chance of corrupting your file system if and when your device crashes. It's a small chance but a chance none the less.
AOSP is by far the best for the ones who do want to unlock the devices full potential. AOSP (Android open source project) roms are more difficult to create and perfect but they give these devices more potential but its also up to the user to do his or her research. Don't flash or tweak even the slightest thing until you do your research and search xda and google. When you find a guide that of course isn't too old and you know you can trust it, read it over and over and bookmark it. Always search xda but never listen to the opinions of others until you test it yourself.
These rom creators work hard and they expect us to know what we are doing.
tl;dr - I will just say this, if your willing to spend more time to give you the best experience go AOSP. And if you go AOSP go CyanogenMod and nothing else. And for the kernel if you do wish to use a custom kernel I hightly recommend Komodo if you want an even better user experience.
Best rom is...
... the one that works best for you
FWIW. I love the ViperRom. Phone feels like it just "works" and, if I want, there are lots of customizations available.
That said, I just switched to HatkaLTE because I wanted to stay with a sense rom and it seems to me that the last update of ViperRom reintroduced the original rom's sensor problems on my phone. [I say seems because it's still not perfect, just better, on the HatkaLTE and maybe the hardware has developed a defect]. I can't say much about this rom yet because I haven't had it on my phone long enough and because I'm also playing around with different launchers at the same time.
Good luck!

IDK, but I'm really excited to install the new VIPERROM
Very, very excited. Hopefully it (re)fixes the proximity sensor problem, but if not, I have the init file all ready to solve the problem myself!
I have to agree with many of the posts, it's more of a personal taste question. I've run almost every ROM at some point, and I love the speed of AOSP, but like the features of Sense. There are a few key features that you lose on AOSP. After a whole lot of flashing, I've settled on SuperJelly Bareback, it strips out all the bloat of Sense while retaining those key features, and is almost spot on with the speed of AOSP. It's my happy medium. Good luck and happy flashing.
If you dont need Bluetooth, Sense 5. Otherwise Viper or Super LTE.

New Evo 4G LTE user, ROM suggestion

Hello all
After buying the Original Evo, I haven't owned an HTC phone in 2+ years, but after trading my S3 for the LTE, I'm back!
I'd like if you guys could recommend a ROM for me... I looked around the development forum, but many don't have screenshots, etc, and I don't want to waste a lot of time flashing something and then it has some bright red theme, etc.
What I'm looking for is something that is as close to the stock HTC rom as possible, but with battery life enhancements, etc.
Thank you!
Sense 5 man its the best
Viper 3.1.4 or the Sense 5 port, would be mg suggestions

I second this post. Those two have probably the best overall options at the moment, as well as SuperJelly. CM 10.1 has came a long way too, if you're a fan of AOSP.
Viper4G 3.14 comes with almost an overabundance of options to play with and well, the Sense 5 port? You're getting something that won't even be on our phones for a few months yet, and with all of the work tossed together in the past three weeks, it's pretty much a daily driver of a ROM. Sense that runs just as fast as AOSP, IMHO.

I'd hardly say the Sense 5 port fits this requirement. While very good and a daily driver, it still has little bugs. And if you use Bluetooth, a major one. That said, Viper and Meanbean would be my two suggestions. I've used both extensively and they are both very good in regard to battery life and speed. If you want to flash a new version once a week you will be out of luck with those two, however. Neither has been updated in over a month and I don't think there are plans to. I don't think they need it though. Very good as they are.
Edit : Just be aware that Google Nav may not work for you. This is a bug that affects many users, while some don't have an issue. It's not ROM related. I suggest Waze as an alternative navigation.
I hate when people make these threads.
Read the op's and flash the ones that sound good to you.
Theyre all good.
Theres also a q and a section where i believe this should be.

No offense to the OP but I'm closing this as these threads tend to turn into flame fest between ppl saying X is better than X.
Best advice is read the threads and see what fits your needs/interests the best.
Or just take some time and try them all and go with what you like the most. Everyone is different here, the OP of the Rom threads are pretty descriptive of what's offered.

It's so easy to flash roms once you learn your way around, you would truly be limiting your experience and cutting yourself short if you don't try different roms. But I'm more than willing to talk someone through the process of narrowing things down, and based on your usage, likes and dislikes I can make some recommendations but I do it based on each users needs. Feel free to PM me if I can answer any questions or point you in the right direction.
The best advice is to make a backup of stock and then flash every ROM. I love revokt and soon pio will make a thread for carbon which I will try. These are both based on the cm build for the drivers (simplified explanation). I personally don't like sense but you might so try them all especially the aosp based!

I used to be an CM/AOKP fan, but after trying the Sense roms i was convinced they could do everything a CM/AOKP rom could do.
Boy I was wrong. As soon as I flashed Revolt rom the DNA beast was released. It was fast, snappy, and responsive. I've tried all of Pio's work and i settled on Carbon.
As people have said, try them all and see for yourself. You may come to a different conclusion than me and that is fine because the rom has to fit you, not what someone on the internets suggests.

Thanks for the responses and opinions. I'm fairly familiar with flashing on my Sammy Captivate, but not much experience with HTC and a locked bootloader. I think once I can get S-off it'll be to the point I can figure it out. I had used CM10.1 on the cappy and loved it, but I've heard sence 5 is amazing, so I'll probably just try a bunch of them.

[Q] What can I do with my new HTC One?

I've been on the galaxy product line for my last two phones and have rooted them then installed CM on them straight away. Now that I have an HTC One, and it's still a fairly new device, I'm wondering what things I should/could do to it...
So far all I've done is unlock the bootloader, and I'm kinda waiting for ASOP Android to be released but are there any ROMs that are must haves or is there any reason to root it at this point?
Thanks for your help.

Yeah, I was expecting this type of reply. I've done a decent amount of searching in the HTC boards and this one. I'm asking the question for other people's opinions. But I guess you're right, I could go around the forums on my phone, so, that would be something to do on it although not what I'm looking for.

As a Samsung user for the past 3 years or so I've always used aosp Roma myself. I haven't even looked at a single aosp Rom for the one (won't until official comes out) my suggestion is use sense for a while. There's a thread over in international about some stuff the one can do. Check it out. I'd install a international Rom and play with it. (Arhd is great) If you flash an aosp Rom you'll lose beats and the great camera. Keep it (close to) stock for now and enjoy the new sense.

I wondered the same thing with mine. The next steps you could take if you wanted to: get s-off, get supercid, and pick a good Rom that you like. (for all intensive purporses the first two are negligible). I am currently on Android Revolution HD (arhd) and loving it. Fast and smooth with the 4.2.2 and good battery life. That's a good place to start.

It still includes an amount of HTC/Google Junk, but it's easy to fix with a root explorer or Titanium Backup
