Hello,
Can anyone help me figure out how to recover in CWM instead of TWRP. I like TWRP the problem I'm having is I'm not getting a download file in recovery right now. If it's something easy that I'm missing then I'll stay with it. The picture shows all that I get when I'm in recovery. If anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

The same way you flashed TWRP via fastboot, just download COM and put it in your fastboot folder and do the same process.

Do you know why it's bot showing a download folder though? I'm sure it's something I'm over looking.

I tried to use the toolkit file but when I click on "flash Clockworkmod" it gives me two pop ups. I close the first one like it says and wait on the second pop up to do something but all it says it "waiting on device"

Not a pro a this by any means; so if wrong, please correct me. I won't get butthurt.
I recently got a htc one of Craigslist that was pre-rooted and having twrp installed. Being used to cwm and wanting it back on, I simply installed rom manager from play store and was able to flash cwm straight from there with no problems. Hope you got it done either way

Seriously takes less than two minutes.
Download whatever recovery you want.
Boot into boot loader and select fastboot.
Connect to pc
Put recovery IMG inside the folder where fastboot.exe is
Type
Fastboot flash recovery recovereyfilename.IMG
DONE
HTC One - Unlocked, ARHD 12, Bulletproof Kernel, Several mods.

Tab 2 7 - Cyanogenmod
Think the issue you were initially having was finding the emulated sdcard storage. Need to look in the data/media/ directory to find your "sdcard" storage.

I had an issue kinda similar like this and ended up having to flash the RUU through the bootloader. It is the stock firmware 605.19, and I had to reroot. It's a pain I know but it works

My friend's phone tried to pull an OTA while he had CWM recovery installed, and it started boot looping. Had to download the stock recovery, name is PG05IMG.zip in the root of the SDCard, and force the phone to boot to the bootloader and install it. Once it did, the phone started up, rebooted itself, and installed the OTA fine. Sounds like yours may be trying to do something similar?
If so rooted phones need caches cleared for the ota to work.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
From my understanding, Rooted can still take OTA, but you have to have stock recovery to do it (as I witnessed earlier). You will lose root, and will have to re-flash recovery to TWRP, CWMR, or whatever your normal choice is, and then re-apply the su.zip, but otherwise easy as pie.

Hello, first of all I would like to thank everyone who has posted in this thread to try and help out. I just started having a very similar problem- I'm rooted and running stock, but apparently my phone accepted an OTA and I'm stuck in a bootloop as well.
I got into CWM recovery and downloaded the stock recovery PG05IMG.zip, but it won't install. It just aborts every time I try to install it. I'm a noob at this stuff and not very good at dealing with these sorts of things and I've been having a panic attack for the past hour, so if anyone could help me as soon as possible I would really appreciate it.
I'm really scared of making things worse than they already are. I just want a working phone.

The zip won't work in CWM because it's not designed for use with CWM. It's designed for use in Fastboot. Should be on the root of your sd card. From off, if I'm correct (like this with other HTC devices), hold volume down and power to boot into fastboot. This will allow it to flash the stock recovery.

I had some issues with various roms for unknown reasons, so I kept trying out new roms. Well the problem persisted, and as I was attempting to flash a new Rom, recovery just kind of failed. Whenever I attempt to enter recovery, a titled triangle with and exclamation mark and a droid figure pop up and I have to do a battery wipe. My phone still starts and runs, but I'm currently stuck on a problematic rom with no way of getting to recovery. I'm fairly new to all of this so I have no idea what's happening and I'm ultimately scared of attempting anything and messing up more. So any and all suggestions are beyond welcome.

So just install cwm multiple times..? Like install it, turn phone on, then install again if problem persists or isn't fixed immediately?
You're looking for some magical recipe that will 100% surely fix your phone. There isn't one. You will just have to play and be creative. You can report back here for more advice if needed.

Like what ravilov mentioned, its more of a trial and error process and not a 100% quick fix. Not having a computer will make things much more difficult.
I'm not looking for a magic easy route, (though it'd be nice if there was one), I'm just asking for literally any advice on the situation.
Use the android sdk 'fastboot' command to push recovery to the device via USB. This should solve your issue with a borked recovery partition.

No need for touch. If you ever damage your screen, touch recovery will make it impossible to use. Once you've flashed it with rom manager, you can download th3bill's recovery for Atrix and install over the top of it.

I just installed CWM Touch via Rom Manager, worked fine.
if you download a recovery.img file you can boot into fastboot "FASTBOOT USB" then do a "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and it will flash the recovery that you downloaded or use CWM or GOOmanager to have it auto install them
download goomanager go to settings and click install openrecovery script. This install TWRP which is much better and easier to use than CWM
Having a hard time...
Hey guys. I did the moonshine bit successfully, installed ROM Manager, and TWRP recovery. I have a couple of ROMs saved to my phone, and am ready to test drive one.
I follow the steps to get to fastboot, and select recovery, then power button to enter.
After a few seconds, I get the "triage" screen - black background, red triangle with BANG in it, over a phone graphic.
Now what?

You can use ROM manager for cwm and goo for twrp as long as you're rooted and unlocked, may or may not need s-off for recovery flashing, I don't think so.

Well, the image files I had saved in my download folder remained. I have experimented with a few ROMs since then, so the other folders I noticed empty (DCIM, ringtones, etc) may be due to the new ROMs.

Also if you shift between 4.1 (sense) and 4.2 they are made in differing areas, so it may look blank in 4.2 because its in a different location and it has nothing in it yet, previous contents are in the old location /data/media.

i did it yesterday and it did not clear anything on my phone! still have everything. when i flashed a rom then i had to add my apps but only that! :good:
Well I may have truly found out how to brick this phone. First what you want to do is unlock the bootloader, then flash a recovery. Next you want to gain SU on the phone and root. If your their and you want to brick your phone you will need to do the following steps.
1. Forget to create a restore
2. Flash the google nexus 4.3 to the phone
3. realize it in a boot loop
4. format data on the phone (yeah that's right...I wiped everything)
5. sit back and admire your work.
Any ideas?

I have tried to side losd a rom but either I'm doing it wrong or it just won't work. I keep getting errors. I can reboot the phone from ADB on the computer but I can't seem to move any information across...Heck I can even lock and unlock the bootloader but not side load.

Oh, i feel your pain, Just "soft" bricked my phone. Lucky it has plenty of juice and i was still able to get to booloader. Somewhat of an easy fix. But boy did my heart start pumping.
When you reboot, what does it do? Just sit there on the HTC screen, not light up at all, or something else?
I only ask because I thought I borked mine today going from the OTA, to .12, to S-OFF, the accidentally making it ENG S-OFF, and then the screen not lighting up when I'd try to do anything.
But I was able to get the silver HTC screen to pop up and flash the 4.1.2 RUU to go to WWE 4.2.2.

So I've tried researching this slight issue and I have seen a lot of different solutions but none of them apply to my particular problem. My phone works just fine when booted regularly and charges just fine. The only time I'm having an issue is if I boot into recovery. I just installed twrp 2.7.0.3 and tried to reboot in order to flash supersu. No dice. I've tried rebooting into fastboot and reflashing and I've tried the M8 toolkit. Reflashing works, but still won't boot to recovery and the toolkit just hangs trying to flash the file. I think that's where my issue lies. I waited 19 minutes and eventually closed the program and just rebooted. I'm thinking this caused an issue and corrupted my recovery but i figured reflashing would solve this.
I was wondering if someone could clarify this for me, in which i'll just sit tight and wait until an ruu releases and stick with stock sense. The phone works perfectly so I can deal for a little while. I was just hoping to move to the GPe rom and get xposed running on it.
Thanks yall. I'll keep searching until I have to go to work and if I find a solution before anyone responds I'll update this post so it can be locked.

Seems like every problem in here is when someone uses a toolkit. IMO it is easier just to use the commands. There is nothing wrong with twrp as most people including myself are using it flawlessly. Download fresh copy of twrp. Make sure you get .img file, not .zip. Boot your phone, plug in and type "adb reboot bootloader" it will reboot to fastboot, if not, you do not have newest adb drivers, get this fixed before moving on. once in bootloader type "fastboot reboot-bootloader" this will just reboot your boot loader and let you know fastboot is working. If not fix this. next move to your directory with twrp and type "fastboot flash recovery twrp***.img" should only take 5 seconds. next type fastboot reboot to make sure system is still booting. Then type "adb reboot recovery" and it should go to twrp. Make sure you are getting the UL_CA twrp and not the whl. whl is for sprint and will not work. let me know. UL_CA is not available on official site. search the xda forums for it.
I actually tried the commands first and couldn't get it that's why I tried the toolkit. That's actually what ended up working for me though, but at least I'm good to go! I should have updated this a few days ago but forgot lol this thread can be locked if a mod wants to. Thanks all
