mini SIM card for Vibrant? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, while I've rooted & ROM'd around with 2 Nook Colors, this will be my first actual smartphone (T-959V unlocked on it's way from ebay.)
I'm planning on rooting it & also signing up for a TMo plan thru Walmart. According to gsmarena, spec for this phone the sim card is a "mini sim".
I cannot for the life of me find mini sim cards (or adapters) via numerous searches. The TMo store I went to was no help, trying to talk me out of signing thru Walmart with horror stories of poor reception no support etc
How do I find a mini sim for TMo?

wow 49 views & zero replies...this is a tough room .
Anyways, the one I got turned out to be the right size after all.

Just to help you avoid any problems, the t959v is not the same phone as a vibrant t959. Your phone is a 4g phone and will not work with vibrant roms. You should look in galaxy s 4g forums.

Service issues. Annoying

I've been getting annoying service issues the past few days. I did in another state about 10 min away. And another county about 25min away. I keep leasing data. Or it will go in to emerancy calls only which makes me think its switching over to tmobile. Anyone know whats going on? Its not the area cause another att phone with me both times didn't have an issue at all! Im running surorom 7. With stock modem. Any one have an idea?
As I am typing this my phone done it. And it also likes to switch to edge a few times while in town.

[Q] Worried about tethering

Hey guys, I am looking to upgrade my phone before verizon changes there contracts on the 28th. I'm wanting the s3 but my only thing is I tether a lot. Like 20+ gigs a month. With my x2 that i'm using theres a radio mod so its not noticeable. I'm wondering if such a mod is out for the s3 because lets face it free tethering is where its at. I already pay for unlimited data. But if you guys could please let me know that would be amazing
Thanks
The phone doesn't even exist for Verizon yet..

no but it will be out in a couple weeks. And there shouldn't be any real changes. So i figured if theres a hack in place for sprint or t-mobile then it should work for verizon as well
Does anyone have any information about this? I have to order what ever phone im getting by tomorrow =/ I would love to have this phone but tethering is a must
Just order it. There will be what you need.

I figured there will be, is there any real differences development wise between v
providers? And will the storage size matter?
Not really. The only differences lie between international and US. Storage size doesn't matter to me because I have a 32GB SD card and don't even have 48GB of media to lug around.

I have pre ordered the phone. Does anyone know about an extended battery that wont change the size of the phone? I know quite a few phones have them and I want to be able to use a standard case for the phone so any info on this would be great

Are you happy with your page plus service? Do they really use the verizon towers? Thats what I have been told. I am looking into switching to them. There is a company near my home in NH that will unlock phones and you can get any service on them. I am seriously considereing it......But am a little leerey about it...I need my phone for work and home so I must have good service. They told me it would be $100-150 to unlock my 4G phone. They are not 100%sure they can do it yet, so if they can;t theres no charge.
I was thinking of just getting a regular used 3g smartphone on craigslist and setting it up with pageplus...just to see how the service is, before cancelling verizon.....sound like a good idea or a bad one?
Thanks

Getting the i777 to work on t-mo

I am a bit confussed. Trying to get a straight talk s2 to work on t-mo for my brother. Rooted and running the collective rom on the phone. popping his t-mo card in the phone does not bring up a sim locked message, and I get no carrier signal. What do I need to do to get voice signal. does data work on this with a t-mo card? Do I tell him to move on?
Thanks
Have u checked out the straight talk s2 thread here....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33902328&postcount=1

I'm now a happy owner of T-Mobile S5..Coming from AT&T

Just thought I would waste some space and let everyone know that I'm now a proud owner of a T-Mobile S5 coming from a locked down AT&T S5. I had the AT&T S5 and could NOT stand being locked down. I ended up returning it for an M8 simply because it wasn't locked down. I had the M8 for 5 days and I just didn't like it. I traded the M8 for my TMO S5 and it was the best phone trade I have ever done. I have owned every Samsung phone and will continue to own nothing but Samsung from this day forward......only TMO's of course or at least until they lock theirs down too.
Only issue I ran into was provisioning my SIMS for LTE to work on AT&T network. These AT&T phone Reps are either stupid or act stupid. They probably just act stupid so they want have to tell you the truth when provisioning SIMS because they don't want other carrier phones on their network. Anyway, I talked with 3 different reps and got nowhere with provisioning my SIMS. Long story short, I finally got them to provision my SIMS correctly by telling them my phone went bad and that my wife was nice enough to let me use her AT&T S5. So they ended up provisioning it by using her IMEI#. Now I'm all good to go and VERY HAPPY to be the proud owner of a TMO S5.
Sorry for wasting space, but man this is a happy day for me and I just had to share it.
Welcome to the fun side! i also had the att s5 and wheeled and dealed that locked up SOB and now happily Flashing away to my little hearts desire.
I had LTE right off the bat though with a new SIM card and the unlock code i purchased. Happy to hear you are up and running. I highly recommend giving project infinity a go, sweeeeeet ROM.
This is honestly the best combo. Tmobile phone that runs on att. I just want tmobile to fix their data speeds (non LTE) and I'll be extremely happy.
You and me both. This is the best phone i have ever had and if you knew how many i owned then youd knew it mean something. Using it on AT&T with xtrolite rom with the G3 keyboard, gonna buy a gear 2 neo next week, im in phone heaven!

I would have been good to go on my SIM, but I was coming from the M8 which had nano sim or whatever the very small one is called. I had to go in the store and get a new one and that's when I got screwed. The store rep scanned my T-Mobile S5 and that's when the fun started.....them SOB's.

Enjoy T-Mobile's awesome signal strength. The AWS LTE can't penetrate a paper bag. Even the HSPA signal is weak.

My signal is awesome. Actually my signal seems to be better than my wife's AT&T S5. Not sure if it's from some possible tweak I did or what, but I'm loving it.

That's because the TMO S5 will shows 5 bars for a -109dbm signal. A good LTE signal is anywhere from -70dbm to -90dbm.
I am using a t-mobile s5 on ATT..I have used t-mobile phones since I bought the note3.
There are several variations on apn settings that I have used..some work better than others..but if you Google Best or fastest ATT apn settings you will find several similar options. I found that trying the various settings was the best way to find what worked best for me.
After flashing any rom it is one of the things you will have to do to set up your phone.
Just thought I would share..hope it helps. You don't need ATT to provision your phone. Just set up your apn.
Good luck

You do have to get if provisioned. I took my TMO into the store to get a SIMS and they scanned my phone IMEI and blocked LTE......no matter what APN I used. Had to call in and give them a different IMEI and my SIMS number. After that all is good. If I wasn't coming from the M8 which has a nano SIM, I could have just swapped SIMS and been good to go.
Hope that makes since.
That is news to me..I aways just switched Sim cards and I was good to go. I did have to unlock the s5 so I could use it on ATT. .But other than that and adding my APNS, that's all I had to do...not sure I understand why yours was different but it really doesn't matter. Fact is its working for you, that is all that really matters. ..anyway..good luck..

That nano SIM would have worked. Just been little smaller in phone. Reason I say this was I fixed up fellow with sg3 coming from a iPhone5s . After few weeks he finally went in to get Nano SIM swapped out.

Yeah my nano from my M8 worked in my S5, but just a little tricky getting it to fit just right. Ran it for a while and every time I bumped my phone I would have to re-seat the SIM. Just decided to swap it out for that warm and fuzzy lol.
