[REQUEST] Task650 Kernel Zip - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

I would ask this in the original thread but it's closed. I'm just looking for the kernel download for Tasks ROM so I'm able to try other kernels as I see fit. Battery life is great as-is but every now & then my phone feels like it was set on fire. Not a deal breaker because I've had 0 freezes since flashing but I'd like to know if another kernel would fix this.

Pull the zImage from the rom zip and use Mobile Odin.

[Q] kernels

I am so so sorry if this has been asked before but my gf sg2 is giving me a head ache.
How the hell do you put a kernel on the sg2 I have rooted it and flashed cm10 and all is working lovely but I would like to put here a good kernel on what saves her battery etc Think my problem is I am so use to doing it on my htconex by fastboot its thrown me. Does anyone recommend a good battery savin kernel and thanks again
You can flash a kernel by Odin, or CWM. We don't have fastboot here

You can try dorimanx or siyah, just find a zip file and flash through cwm recovery

Yeah, I usually wipe the cache and dalvik. I would suggest dorimanx since it gets updated regularly, just watch which one you flash. There are different numbers for different versions of android (ie gb, ics and jb).
And for battery settings, download extweaks from the play store after you flash it and find a thread that has battery tweaks

Didn't go to plan DL dorimanx kernel wiped dalvik cache and cache flashed the zip it rebooted and the I get a black screen with the bottom keys started flashing then I got it back into cwm which was dorimanx cwm by this time and flashed cwm10 and gaps and got it back what am doing wrong I feel like crying
You probably downloaded a version which isn't compatible with your Rom. Flash siyah 4.1.5 with that Rom and it should work
I'm sure there's a version of dorimanx too that's compatible with the Rom you want..but I'm not too familiar with dorimanx versions..so..
link to siyah www.gokhanmoral.com
Use the .zip version of siyah 4.1.5 and flash it via cwm.
Good luck.

I get the ying and yang boot screen then it goes black I then hit the power button it goes to the boot screen again and that's it what am I doing wrong :'( I erased the cache and dalvick cache what

Ah..that's odd..
Which ROM are you currently on?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Thought I'd take a screen shot to make it easier
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Oh. Okay..I'd assumed you'd tried the latest dorimanx kernel, 7.4? I'm not too sure and were trying an older ROM which it didn't support, and hence suggested siyah 4.1.5
Try either dorimanx 7.4 ( if you haven't yet) or siyah 5.0 ( has a few variants..try the rc1 zip file) and it should work unless you're doing something wrong which it doesn't seem like you are, or the latest cyanogen build isn't supported by either of those two kernels, which is incredibly unlikely.

If you are trying to find a good setup take a look at rootbox jb 3.0 and dorimanx 7.4. Very stable with good battery life.

Haha..I'm glad. Would've probably saved you a while if you'd mentioned which version of CM or dori you'd tried at the outset itself..but heyy. As long as we got there eh. Hope she enjoys it. Cheers mate.
EDIT. I hope you / she knows that you'd probably get pretty bad battery life for the first cycle or so on a new kernel. Let it run by a couple of battery cycles or so, and battery life should get better. And 'reset fuel guage chip' in this app called ExTweaks helps if you're on siyah or dorimanx
Yup, give it at least 3 battery cycles before you judge the battery life

Rom Manager

Why dont developers add their roms onto it? There is only 1 rom on there which is cm. Would be great if there were some more for quick access to roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I guess they like to release them in a thread with a description, change log of updates, a list of things not working / bugs, and a way to connect with the users.
Putting it on Rom Manager is just throwing it out there with no support.
People still use rom manager?

Because ROM manager is responsible for about 90% of bootloops..
RM is the debil!
Say it, Don't spray it.

Oh really? I never knew that. I have always installed roms manually and just recently tried rom manager. Guess its time to stop using it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Rom manager is obsolete compared to TWRP. ..
And just some sound advice. ..
Never let an application do the flashing for you. ..
You'll likely end up soft bricked. ..
Get to know and understand your recovery and how it works, then you have a backup plan when something goes wrong. ...g

[Q] what is this semaphore

OK so I know how to flash a new ROM on normal recoveries on my gs3, my sister who has a gs1vibrant, wants me to update her from parano1dandro1d to cm10.1 I have all the required downloads done. Then I go into recovery and it looks very similar except it has a few more options and other differences and it says semaphore cwm recovery v6.0.1.5. My question is: can I still flash as normal with this recovery? Many thanks
Sure you can. But! You're in wrong section!
Here they come.

How much do you have on your internal SD? And also you may just have to do a clean wipe. Format/factory reset. Clear cache and dalvik. Wipe /system and /boot

You can find a copy of the Devil4.2 kernel, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982728. Head down to the Kernel section and you can't miss it.
Also, I'd hate to pester you, but how's that EU fix guide coming along? :silly:

Im working on the guide but i broke 1 knuckle and fractired another 2 so might take a little longer and thsnks for the kernel.

Ask 5 people that question and get 5 different answers. People will base their preferences off many different things. I would answer your question with PeanutButta Jelly Kernel.
I would suggest you look at all of them. Then decide which fits what you want to do with the phone best. Then try it. Give it a few days then if you want to try something else, try another.
If you're going to use a kernel make sure you don't put your phone in the microwave!
The kernel will pop and while PB&J might be tasty this will ruin your phone!
You've been warned!

Faux is great, I also suggest you get his app if you use his kernel which gives you great control over the settings and also provides an easy way to update. But my Dad seems to favor Sabre for his own personal reasons. To each his own I always say. Try them out but to me Faux has been my friend

Download and flash in TWRP. Wipe cache/dalvic and then reboot.
