[Q] PC Radio - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a internet radiostation I like but at work on WIFI it's blocked (against the policy)
It doesn't work via the app of the radiostation, I tried all 3 streams.
Same for the website, Tunein, grab radio, xiiaLive and a few other apps.
To my surprise it works via the Russian app "PC Radio"
But now I have to pay to get a good quality stream.
How come this app works and all others don't
Do they route the data over their own servers or something ?
I'm kind of hoping there is another way to do this for free

Hearing streamed music by napster online

hey guys,
im a napster (the LEGAL www.napster.com) customer. so if i go to napster.com i can login and hear via browser streamed music (and have access to my playlist etc)
this works very fine for me - on my computer! if i login with the standard browser on the htc, or opera mini, then the website says "you are using safire bla bla". so my question is, is it possible with any market app (my phone is rooted) to hook the send browser signature, so that the htc browser sends for example the signature of firefox?? i know a plugin for the real firefox which enables the possibility to change the sig to any you want (eg iexplore..), thats actually what i need, or is there any other possibility?

I've been looking for the same thing... no luck. I know they have a regular napster for some phones. I don't understand why they wouldn't make a windows mobile version. It seems pretty dumb not to.
any other having a solution for our problem?

[Q] Streaming PCTV???

I was wondering, and yes, I have searched, but is it possible to stream pctv from your pc to Android, the easy way? There are guides telling how to use VLC to stream tv, guides that involves using windows media encoder, suggestions about using Orb live, wich just doesn't do it for me and even suggestions using the expensive slingbox.
I used to have mytinytv ( http://www.mytinytv.com/ ) on my PC wich did a really amazing job. The client, however, is only available for windows mobile, how ironic. I've changed the streaming profiles with windows media encoder 9 and achieved really high SD quality on my HD2 over 3g, yes, just 3g. The only downside with the client was that you could not easily zap trough the channels, as the tv server scanned all the channels but not letting you reorder it. Anyhow, it worked great, great quality and 30fps.
What is possible?
Mytinytv install file is still available on their site, however, the latest forum activity was about a year ago or so, so, hardly no progress anymore.
Is it possible to develop such a program for android? Or, is it just possible to create an android client for it? the client should be able to connect to the server using login credentials, give commands back to the tv server, i.e. changing channels and stream it using the built in streaming player of android.
Have a look at orb dot com (can't post link as I'm new, Hello all)
Basically, program runs on PC, connects you to a website, this then streams all your movies/songs to other devices.
I used to use it on my PS3 and iphone, fairly sure it will work on Android also.
Can also connect through the internet so can access it from work etc.

Anyone using ORB?

I've got ORB installed on my home computer and the ORB Live app on my handset. So far I'm able to use my handset to connect to my home PC, view the contents, and stream audio. The problem is that I cannot stream video whatsoever. When trying to stream videos, live tv, or my webcam the handset sits there connecting, but nothing ever streams. Eventually I'll usually get the "failed to stream" message on my handset.
Anyone else using ORB? I'm wondering if I'm suffering from a bandwidth issue, or if my carrier, Mobilicity, is blocking something on their end.
Which browser are you using, stock android or third party from the market?
Samsung Fascinate
Frankenclean 2.8
EB16-ish Voodoo Kernel
Mob87's Honeycomb theme
Sent from XDA Premium App
Stock browser, but the client on the handset is an app called OrbLive.
Screw ORB, go with Plex. It works flawless but it lacks the the ability to stream live tv at the moment

I've been using orb for years on my mobile devices. The ports can not be blocked, not sure which ones orb uses but make sure your router has permissions for the right ones. I did buy the orb app for android and it works good too.
The port blocking may be at your home end or it may be your provider. If it's your provider, check for alternate apn's that may have more access.

I used to use orb, haven't for a while but when I did I just logged in through Skyfire. Not as convenient as an app I suppose but I just saved as a favorite. Never had any issues using it that way

Tried Skyfire, didn't work for me. Android mode just constantly kicks me back to login page, can't access anything. Desktop and default mode puts me in a login loop between http and https and eventually throws an error. Tried Androrb too, no good, nothing streams at all.
Got no port blocking going on at all over here atm, just a direct line from the PC to the intarweb, with nothing but windows firewall in between.
Downloading Plex at the moment, will give it a try, but streaming from my tv tuner would be really nice. I'll take what I can get though I guess. I'll let ya know how plex works out for me.
Well, got plex and my handset refuses to connect to the plex media server. *sigh*

yeah, setting up orb was a pain, kind of hit or miss, to get video to work, but once it does work, its pretty good
check the badly organized orb website and their just as badly put together forum
there are some pointers there that, like me, just might get you to get it working
to be honest, it seemed like i did everything i could, it wasnt working, i uninstalled/reinstalled everything, and then it was working
weird stuff
I have been using ORB for a long time (from Windows Mobile) and it's a very easy way to have access to music, photos, tv, videos and documents... The problem is that the OrbLive app does not work with 2.3 and no update has been made to the app...

Directv multiroom dvr on TP???

Hi everyone. We recently upgraded our Directv to the multiroom dvr with home cinema connectivity. I have been using 2player network music player for some time on my tp. I noticed that the "directv2pc media server" shows up in the source section, but cannot connect.... Is anyone aware of a way I could connect and watch my recordings on my TP?
It's showing up on your network, but I guarantee you it's probably some kind of proprietary encrypted connection method, meaning only directv devices can access it. Unless someone creates an app to access it, I doubt it will be possible.

Internet radio on android box

Hello!
The goal is to have internet radio in a place where i can't have a monitor. I mean to be able to browse through internet radio stations, without having a tv or a monitor. Like in my kitchen!
E-bay Apliances like internet radios cost like 150$. Too expensive for me...
Also, using my mobile phone with some bluetooth speaker is out of question.
So i want to use my android box (a.b.).
Can i somehow set my a.b. (using my tv ofcourse, in my living room) maybe using some app, so when i put in in my kitchen, only thing i 'll have to do is turn it on and go to the first web station i've preset it, play automatically, and by using the remote controler just change the radio web sites, which i also have them preset?
Or maybe there's some app for this?
