[Devs New Idea] "Walkman Mode" [Need devs!!!] - Xperia Arc Themes and Apps

Hello, i remember in my old phone (SE w200a black) a "Walkman Mode" (airplane mode/ flight mode but in this mode my phone only can use walkman player... Only walkman player)(Yes, yes i know do you say haha! w200 is based in Java not in android but, i explain my idea now)
What would this be?:
...This would a mode for Multimedia for less battery usage
-no signal (wifi/gps/BT/edge/gprs/hspda/3g/4g/10000000g... Nothing) ("airplane mode")
-no launcher, no others apps (except system apps), open directly the Walkman player "that can not be closed or use task switch"
-system dont open facebook/camera/sms/call/games/bloatware/... nothing in memory, except Walkman player and services/system apps.
-OC profile default in Walkman mode :
*governor: lagfree (or similar)
*Scheduler: deadline (or similar)
*min:200/max:500mhz (aprox)
In this mode you dont have interruption in the music with notifications/sms/calls & you would have less battery consumption for a more extensive use (for travels or sports or if you have less battery and you want play music more minutes/hours).
This is possible? (i beleave)
in android 4.2 you can create multiple users with personal apps and profile, wallpaper, etc.
in other android exist SwitchMe, this apk can make multiple users and profiles...
*my idea would be to create a new user and not putting on another app than the Walkman player and opens automatically without allowing close, or if not also a launcher that does not consume almost no battery and put 1 icon on the desktop (walkman player).
DEVS (Now I ask you): This is possible?
i know, i can use airplane mode+killer for apps+set oc settings... but my idea is a manner easy and more prolix (other user, or option: "reboot in walkman mode")
Sorry if i post this in incorrect section and sorry for my bad english...
Users Ideas! What the project include depends on what the developer considers most useful and possible.

But what about including and a Gallery in this Walkman mode? To say on walkman boot the phone will rendee you two icons. One for the Walkman and one for the Gallery(for making you able to preview puctures abd video too)... but otherwise the Gallery idea will be a bit useless, because will suck ram and.performance when the filters, codecs, etc are loaded.

↓↓↓↓↓=> it is possible if 2g can be disabled. but how to disable the other signals is "airplane mode" could not do. also in my opinion this contradicts the idea of "walkman mode", perhaps if the script or the modification to choose between 2g enabled or disabled would be better, but I repeat: [also in my opinion this contradicts the idea 'walkman mode "] without interruptions and less battery usage ... signal calls/sms/2g are constantly consuming memory and battery (for the signal and that those apps are always active)

Post in Q&A not Theme section
By the way it is possible to create a script to do that though it a bit harder
But Reboot to walkman MODE perhap never ever possible unless a Kernel dev help you and one advance ROM dev help you :highfive:
I'm new dev around here , can't help much

Its possible for sure, like a toggle in Power Menu.
But difficult.

Galery dont produce a very change in battery drain (see video yes for screen on and filters... mmm). its true video+fotos in walkman mode would very useful for some users.
Walkman mode or multimedia mode? ... its is other chance.
*but keep adding things would make losing the main essence, wait to hear what a developer says.

Sorry, i see now, my post was moved to the ARC Forum, my idea is for Xperia 2011 in general or for LWW and compatible devices.
"Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Active, Ray, Live with Walkman " -> "Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Active, Live with Walkman Android Development "
I publish it there at the beginning :|
although I think the same would be compatible (i think)

in airplane mode 2g is not enabled, airplane disable wifi/2g/3g/4g etc (you dont have signal in airplane mode)
For the 2g is enabled or the ability to enable already would be affecting the battery consumption. apart if you only will be allowed to use the Walkman and perhaps gallery, not use to give 2g
I did not understand if you were saying to also disable 2g or permit their use in walkman mode.

this will lose the idea of not using any signal to prevent battery consumption, so the wi fi can be turned on or off but the 2g is connected exept that airplane mode is used, but also because the idea "walkman mode" would be losing . .. I put your recommendation in the post but modified.

UP

i can remember than such a music player did existed and it was also at xda news. Well it wasnt that much advanced but it's main purspose was to save power so you could listen more time at your music. i think it was HoloMusic but now it seems to be dead.

[HOWTO]Give your X10 Arc features- Who needs an Arc anyway? 4AUG

Hi everyone, this is a very simple list/howto of all known Arc-ported features onto the X10 as of 4th August.
Right now the list is not big but the features are, which include
100% working Bravia engine
75% working xLoud (FCs occur when changing brightness/volume and power control widget stops working, but in active developement and should be fixed soon)
100% new 2011 Xperia launcher, it's smoother, faster, and a few nice new features
95% working DLNA widget (A few streaming problems)
Screw SE for leaving these features out, when it works almost perfectly on our devices.
Here's where to get the files and how to install them. Although all of the features are safe and shouldn't explode your X10, always remember to back things up in case something gets screwed.
1. Mobile BRAVIA Engine (Thanks Z)
WHAT IT DOES:Enhances picture and video quality ONLY in stock gallery and video app, it won't change the picture quality of the photo itself, just when it's on the x10 screen.
LINK:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193274
INSTALL:Just flash thru xrecovery. BUT, Some custom ROMs like Wolfbreak's and Erickwill's already have those installed, check your ROM developer to see if they have it, don't install this if they have it already! It'll erase some tweaks and settings!

2.xLOUD (Thanks 28spawn and Marcoplo)
WHAT IT DOES:Changes the output of your phone speaker, makes it louder and crisper, and apparently it makes a huge difference.
LINK:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201729
INSTALL:Flash thru xRecovery. Please NOTE: There are a few FCs that occur due to this, like when you change brightness settings through the display option in the settings, as well as the volume sliders in the settings menu. Volume changing works perfectly through the physical rockers, and brightness works fine using another widget, but power control widget doesn't work as well. This is in active developement and should be sorted out and fixed soon.

3.2011 Xperia Launcher (Thanks candyman)
WHAT IT DOES:It's the same launcher as before but faster, smoother, and has a few new features like direct app uninstall through the drawer and support for themes.

INSTALLownload APk and install over current home launcher.

4.Sony DLNA App (Thanks llama69)
WHAT IT DOES:Allows streaming of music/videos to computer, there seems to be problems doing it vice versa (computer to x10) but x10 to computer works fine.
INSTALLownload APK, Install, done!

I will update this as I am sure we will get more goodies . The devs are just too great! It sickens me that SE purposely left out these features, but it's to be expected since if it did, it could seriously hurt Arc/other xperia sales, since the X10 is still a very capable device.
Have fun!

New to Xperia S/Android, some questions remain.

Dear members,
coming freshly to Android and the Xperia S, I've got some questions for which I didn't find an answer, yet, and hope you can somewhat enlighten me.
The phone is LTi26, running 4.0.4, rooted on a reseller contract of Germany's D2/Vodafone.
regarding the Walkman-App, am I just to blind or noobish, or is there really no option to empty the list of currently playing tracks?
at home, I've got EDGE at best and use WiFi, but on the run, I can get 3G/UMTS. Is there a simple toggle/switcher, I can change networks with a single tap, instead of always digging through the menu?
regarding GPS, if it's off and I turn it on, there's always a window popping up, telling me costs may apply, data may be send, etc. Any way to dismiss this window forever?
is it possible to remap the camera button in certain situations? F.e., when the display is off and locked, I'd love to be able to give it a double-tap and have it turn on the camera's flash. Also, if the currently visible and active app isn't the camera app, it would be nice to use this button as a 'back'-button, so I can easily push it with my pinky.
I've read, that AMOLED displays can save power, when they display mostly dark/black colors, IIRC the Xperia S has no AMOLED, but is there a similar possibility? I'm not interested in fancy wallpapers, so it wouldn't hurt me much.
I'm currently happily using the ssLauncher in replacement of Sony's, but in the widget selection, some things don't show up, f.e. the music widget and the 'extras' (on click toggles). Is this a problem of this particular launcher and is there any way to still use them in this launcher?
I've seen a thread with a video, showing how to prick open the phone and be able to exchange the battery, but are there also compatible batteries available which feature a higher capacity?
I've installed the drobear SSHd (no links for noobs), but I'm not able to connect, it always gets a timeout. Not compatibe/config issue(client in question is my Gentoo desktop)?
Other than that, I must say, I'm currently quite pleased with this phone and Android in general. Coming from Maemo, there are still some things I'd like to be able to, but so far it's a good start and so far I'm glad, I didn't opt for the One S or the Droid.
Thanks for your help, regards,
S.D.R

on Stocklauncher or the most Relpacements you can ad a Aplicationsshortcut to the launcher... an there are many Apps/Widgets in the market to bring you with one click to the Datasettings... but there is, as far as i know no way to switch with one click from 3g fo 4g - only with to clicks... also for WFI an/of you can set a Aplication to Home - the Homelauncher got a Widget for - it works with one klick . also in the Market it will gives many apps/widgets for,

While I'm at it, I'm missing FM transmit functionality, as in I had it with my old phone(N900). As far as I've read, it seems, the chip really only allows receiving in hardware, so not a fully functional module with the transmitting functionality disabled, correct? If that's the case, does someone have experience with fm transmission, as in what pieces of hardware are needed? If it's rather small, I'd love to get on of the bottom pieces, the one with the xperia writing on it, add a 3.5mm jack and the hardware and add it to the top of the phone, but I guess that's wishful thinking?!

cm9 bugs and working things!

So i like the default android sistem more than the stock rom of sxs.
So i ve installed fxp 130 and yesterday fxp 131, and some bugs are also on the new update
Some bugs:
- when i download a file with the hdmi the file appears to be broken but when i restart my phone the file work and i don t recive no error
-all sms that have more than 160 chars will give u and error so you are limited to only 160 chars per sms and after u have to make another sms
- if u like to write a sms like you do it in a chat( like more sms in 10 seconds) u ll be surpised because u ll recive an error something like "the message was not sent", so the only thing that u have to make to evoid this error is to wait that the last sms was sent and after you could send another sms
- if u write a sms that has more than 160 chars the person that u ve send the message will recive only a part from the message
- if u close and open the screen i think because the animation the screen in will freeze but only when u are in the menu with apps or in an app..i recoomend u to disable the animation( when u wake the screen) or juzt wait and maybe the screen will be ok in some minutes
- for example if u are in a app and u close the screen and open..u ll have above the app a pic with the lockscreen...just close the screen and open it again to be ok..maybe the phone in this stage will freeze again like i ve said above
- dont know if this an error that all custom roms have but for example when i try to send a message using whatsapp the messsage will be send in 10- 30 mins
- also the screen is not that bright like before( i think it s because.we don t have bravia engine)
- i think that my phone is kinda slower now.when i copy new files on it using usb, the average speed is kinda 900kbs- 1 mbps and for 1 gb i have to wait kinda 1 hour and it s kinda to much of course!
- the batter is not that good but i recoomand u to close the data at night( u also have a profile for.that)
- sometimes the game freezes or ar working like they have low fps
- when u open the camera u have to refocus with it because if u let the camera to autofocus for the first time the pic will be blurry( u just have to tap the screen to refocus)
Good things:
- it s fast
- fast camera( the autofocus it s alot faster.than the stock app)
- it s simple to use
- very good music player and rich with features
- u can customize it very easy
- 300 mb-400 b free of ram( this.is amount that i have in generaly)
- doesn t have useless apps
-good looking
- battery procentage
- torch
- notification led now works
- all basic stuff works .
I ve made this topic because is easy to look here than to read 30 pages tto search the bugs and the working things. Also sorry if if has mistakes but i ve writen it on my phone and.that s why, hope u understand it and if i discover another bug i' ll update the topic..
Hope it wil be usefull. Good luck and enjoy your roms and.always feedback the developers.
When you download a file with HDMI, What ?
Don't know about the text message bug yet as I haven't sent any messages over 160 chars
I don't get any screen freeze
I don't have any problems with Whatsapp
I haven't noticed any difference in screen brightness, Bravia engine only applies to pics and videos
USB transfer seems about the same as before to me, Phone itself definitely not slower
My battery is now way better than it was on stock
I don't play games on my phone so don't know about that one
My camera focus is fine,
Only things I've noticed so far is the HDMI not working, No Bravia engine, no Xloud, No camera Quicklaunch thing and no way to turn camer shutter sound off, Otherwise this ROM is awesome

Just try to open and close the display more.times than usual and the screen will freeze..not the launcher..it wil freeze in menu( with apps) or when ur in app.
It think that the problem.is that the screen doezn t redraw.
I dont know what to say about hdmi becauss i don t use one..but i ve seen alot of people.that have this problem
Also the whatsapp problem others does have it
If ur a "hard-user" u'll notice this kind of errors

Locked unlocked about 20 times in quick succession, same with an app, opened and closed about 20 times and still no freezing, Although I have seen the redraw bug mentioned quite a few times, I just cant recreate it.
I don't use the HDMI either so no biggy for me aswell really.
Still no problems with whatsapp aswell, the only times messages I have sent have taken a while to go through is when the receiving person hasn't had a data connection, But as soon as they get one the message comes through for them. I remember a couple of years ago whatsapp would quite often take ages to send messages but I haven't noticed it for ages.
hmm..maybe ur a lucky one..but this redraw problem has affected alot of people(mayne not all).
---
and regarded to whatsapp...don't know why..mine doesn't work very good , it works but not always.
hope they will fix the REDRAWIng bug in the next release..because I hate to restart my phone sometimes once in a 10 mins.
For the so called redraw bug, try modifying the build.prop file inserting at the end the following line:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
This will give the launcher the highest priority and the system will not close it when some ram is needed. This worked great on my miui!

Root Explorer is maybe the best app. ES File Explorer is also good and can edit files in the system directory. Of course you need root permissions.

My camera focus is fine,
Only things I've noticed so far is the HDMI not working, No Bravia engine, no Xloud, No camera Quicklaunch thing and no way to turn camer shutter sound off, Otherwise this ROM is awesome

what? what are you talking about? the battery is the main problem that I faced! I could only use 12hours with 3G on with stock it goes to 18hours to be honest!

I think that BAttery Calibration should do that to.. I 'll try it when I ll go home . (the app) because it erase it all the data related to the battery and makes a new one.

thx, I've unchecked that box, hope that the screen will not freeze again.

The cause was the " tv close like animation ", it's strange, a " simple " animation like that to freeze all apps in ur phone. Hope that fxp u'll fix in next release.

- Stock based CM9
- CRT animation
- access torch on lockscreen pushing home button
It will be for sure compatible with locked bootloader n,n and about lockscreen we are thinking to put addons on the new thread then you guys can download a mod and install it to have another lockscreen theme or another addon's "in future"
Would also live to see option to switch songs by pressing volume buttons...

Making it usable with a locked bootloader would be great.
I love your most recent version of Iced Bean, but I have two issues: First, even though the two correct .apk files for themes are in the app folder (i.e. 'ThemeManager' and 'DefaultThemes') when you set a theme it doesn't appear to work.
The second (slightly more serious) issue is that it doesn't seem to be possible to enable data access via mobile network. In other words, the only way I can access the internet via my phone is via WiFi.
Has anyone else had these issues I wonder?

That issue is only from you try re installing your DefaulTthemes.apk and clear cache of it or just wait on next update there would be more DefaultThemes on addons n,n and about your second problem yes maybe thats of cause of removed bloatware i really don't know why but you can do it... just search for your setting like for me was: Googe: datos perfiles de internet. in your case just search your profiles like: Google: internet profiles "your company" and that's all n,n
P.d: It would be for locked bootloader too

You can add i yourself. & it's not so necessary i think & vibrations eats battery.
Add xperia t (5x4) launcher...and an aroma installer will be great...easier than placing it in backup folder...

HOW THE HOLY M*** F*** DID YOU DONE TO SONY'S STOCK ROM??!!! IT'S SO COOL!!
You just created another Hybrid Rom bro, in continuation of JJ hybrid with AOSP
Keep it Up
If you can Add CM's Performance Settings too, it'll be cool, so that I don't have to use 3rd Party app lol xD
Xperia T apps
+1.
And Xperia Sola launcher.
I'm sorry, I really don't understand your English. How do you suggest resolving the data connection problem?
Can anyone please help with this?

He means that you should search for APN configuration in Google. Try to add your carrier's settings manually.

Aha! I get it now, I got the APN configuration & entered the settings manually. Worked fine!

Radio-usage are all the stuff when the handset transmits something or recieve something
- Cell-tower-communication 2G/3G/Data (sometimes with bad connection, or too few cell-towers, 3G uses more battery because it keeps trying to find a new and better cell-tower)
- WIFI
- Bluetooth
- And also FM-radio (Radio-apk) (try to play mp3-music for as long as it can, and then try the same with FM-radio - my guess is, that it uses more battery to listen to FM-radio)
just to notice
i have been in the Philippines now since 2nd May, and only charging 1 time.
I know they have got 3G because it's possible to have unlimited internet on the handset for a monthly fixed price, but I have not updated connection settings. I think I am only using 2G.
also every day I use some wifi arond the mansion.
some should try to find a way so 3G does not use that much power. I know it has something to do with 3G constantly trying to find a better cell-tower.
EDIT: using local provider Globe SIM-card
thanks for the useful information
