[Q] screen on time in JB 4.1.2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am coming from Google Nexus S to Galaxy SII I9100 International version.
Now in Nexus S with the original samsung battery 1500 mAH i used to have around 3.5Hour screen on time on CM 10 with its default kernel.
I just bought Galaxy S2 and have been using it. I have noticed that the battery is much better as compared to Nexus S. I have flashed Snapdragon S2 rom JB 4.1.2 and i was impressed cause i got near 5Hour screen on time today. So i wanted to ask that how much do you guys get?
I got 1650 mAH battery provided by samsung

If you are on stock-based ROM,with stock kernel, you normally get high battery. If you flash custom ROM,like CM 10.1 or JellyBam,things will change.I don't know if others too,but I got aroung 2-3 hours of battery, with phone overclocked to 1400 MHz.Stock ROM battery will be always better, but I don't ;like the Stock ROM's UI.

Ive got a custom battery 1680mah yeah...30extra mah lol. 3hrs of screentime. With s4rom. And dorimanx 8.30

Really? another battery thread..... Just as an FYI though, I've managed to get 2.5 hours with 60% remaining over 36 hours. Check the screenshot. That is the Samsung 2000mah batt though.

[Q] Galaxy S or Galaxy S2

Hey guys.... I was wondering
Did you have Galaxy S before you got Galaxy S2?..... I have a heavily pimped out Galaxy S
Insanity ROM with Damian´s GTO Kernel with 1280GHz and the phone is insanely fast with 3-4 days battery life....
I was wondering if I have any reason to buy the Galaxy S2?.... I mean in terms of speed and battery life?
I know it has better Camera and flash and stuff like that :þ
Thanx
I can almost garantee the SGS2 will be quicker out the box. It will cope alot better than the SGS under load too. Having a gig of RAM is very helpful.
I thought my cm7 nexus one was super fast untill i got the sgs2.
I would buy the sgs2 simply because, if they can make an sgs as fast as an sgs2, then what the hell can they make the sgs2 as fast as?

haha yes, that is what I was thinking ..... think I will enjoy my Galaxy S this summer and buy Galaxy SII when developers have come up with fast as hell ROMs + Kernels
everything about the SGS2 [stock] is better!
but i found that my 'pimped' [lol] SGS1 with custom ROM Etc had a much longer battery life.
once devs get some good custom ROMs on here in sure the SGS II will out-do the SGS1 by miles!
switching from SGS1 to SGS II was the best thing i've done for a while!

Have never seen a SGS I custom rom with 3-4 days battery life, even I leave it in my drawer.

AOSP vs TouchWiz (battery life)

Which one tends to be better? Usually for HTC phones I find the aosp roms to trump the sense roms, but on my old Samsung Vibrant the aosp roms ALL had horrendous battery life!
Please lemme know your personal findings!
Thanks
BTW All posts will be thanked

I tried kj3 and cm7 #116 with siyah kernel on both and battery was the identical, cm7 felt smoother though. But some guys are able to squeeze 2 days of battery use while i can only do 1 day, so it also depends what apps you have running and how much you use the phone.

The same battery life? Interesting. In that case I'll probably choose Samsung roms for all the extra features and codec compatibilities.
Please! More opinions and thoughts!

Yup identical, i remember seeing people posting these great 2day battery life shots and they were all on samsung roms so i decided to give it a try. After i loaded the samsung rom and all of my apps/widgets from my cm7 rom the battery life was identical at the end of the day. I do miss that codec compatibility but mx video player takes care of that with ease.

As long as my display has consumed 70-75% at the end of my day (when my battery went from 100% to 20%) I don't bother looking at ways to eliminate the "drain" that some users have. Most, if not all, of the drain is installed on the outside of the screen.
Sure, when I put it in airplane modus inside a vault it lasts more than 5 days. Yay I must be a super tweaker.
i get about 17 hours with about 5.30 hours of display on samsung based ROM but then again it all depends on what you use your cell for
Thanks for all the input keep em coming!

Any screen on times for aosp? Thx!

[Q] Battery life on CM9 roms?

Is it just me or does battery life on CM9 for Note suck?
I know it's an unofficial port and all, but I seem to get significantly poorer battery life on the AOSP/CM9 roms vs the rooted/debloated stock ones.
On the OnlyOne rom, I got ****ing insane battery life. Like 36+ hours with normal/heavy use. On all of the AOSP/CM9 variants (Flapjaxx/h0twir3) I'm at 50% after 5-6 hours of light use.
Am I the only one? Am I doing something wrong? On every other device I've owned (Nexus One, Nexus S, Captivate, Streak, Sensation, Fascinate...) AOSP has gotten significantly BETTER battery life. There are no obvious rogue apps that I can find, and I'm running exactly the same apps on both roms, still, CM9 variants inexplicably get poor battery life on this phone.
The only thing I've noticed is that Android System is using way more battery on CM9 vs stock roms.
Am I nuts?

Maybe I'll try that one. I'm basically just trying to see if anyone else has the issue before I go looking elsewhere to solve it.

Hi xda forum users...
I recently got cyanogenmod9 for my phone and the battery life is terrible.
Samsung galaxy gio
Moderate texting
Wifi on but turns off during sleep
No calls
No games
I really like cm9 but I also like battery life being longer

Ok I dont use ur phone so i am not sure if what i say might be accurate. From what i can see, ur phone was only supported my Samsung till android 2.3. Which probably means that your phone doesnt have a proper kernel for android 4.0.4 on which cm9 is based on. So probably the kernel being used isnt fully stable, hence ur battery life is terrible, I would suggest u stick to a gingerbread (android 2.3) ROM with a stable kernel to enjoy good battery life. It could also be that ur battery might actually be spoilt. Is there any slight bloating on ur battery?

The kernel which was compiled for the your phone might not be fully stable yet causing the battery drain. If there is a new version of that rom try updating to that and see if that fixes the problem.

[Q] GT-I9100 Battery Issues?

Hello there,
I'm just looking for some help regarding my abismal battery that I'm using in my Samsung Galaxy S2.
I have recently updated my handset to the latest release of Android Jellybean 4.1.2 and the battery life sucks!
I do the usual "Turn off your WiFi and Bluetooth, GPS" e.c.t but I barely get a day from a full charge.
I am thinking about downgrading to Ice Cream Sandwich or Gingerbread as I got a lot more from my device with these Operating Systems.
What should I do?
Many Thanks
Kieran.
You cant expect more than a day with jellybean 4.1.2, your phone run fast, with lots of features. All you can do is flashing unofficial rom, which got tweaks to save battery. Or upgrade your smartphone with official battery pack 2000mah which extend your battery life lots.
Im running Omega v24 based on official jelly bean 4.1.2 and upgraded battery samsung 2000mah and battery life is amazing to compare what this software offers.

Seconding the genuine 2000 mAh battery pack. The back cover that comes with it just makes your phone flush instead of having the weird inward bulge that the stock battery gives you. Even cooler!
I'm currently happy running NeatROM 4.8.
