Oem charger or generic? - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

I recently lost my charger that came with my l9 and used a friends samsung charger. It charges my phone but my battery will be dead in just a few hours. Same voltage as lg charger. My question is do I need to buy an oem charger or will a generic charger be fine? I also found one on newegg that uses lg parts but the model # is different than original charger, what do you suggest? Anyone have any experiences with this?

I use charger from my kindle. I would buy generic cause it's probably cheaper and imo there is no diffrence.

The amperage needs to be the same as your OEM charger or higher. If the amperage is lower it will take much longer to charge and may not charge completely if the charging circuit on the device does not handle lower amperage chargers.

I want to buy a genuine fast charge cable. Need help to find it

Hi guys,
I bought a genuine lg cable model no. DK-100M but unfortunately the awg size of the wiring is lower than the cable supplied with the home charger so if I try to use it to charge the lg g2 is quite slow.
Could you please tell me the exact model of a genuine lg cable like the one supplied with the charger capable of doing fast charges?
Thank you!
Why bother and pay much more? I'm using original Samsung Galaxy S4 travel charger and cable and it performs SAME as original LG one. You can have it for few bucks on eBay or Amazon.
I got a Sony charger. It has Fastcharge mentioned on it. It is rated at 2A.
So most 2 Ampere charges from reputed brands will work. When I use the Current Widget, this Sony charges my G2 at 1.6 Amps which is exactly the same as the default LG charger.
I do not need the charger. I just need a fast charge cable.

Even cheaper. Just buy original Galaxy S4 cable...
Is it possible to just buy as spare part a genuine lg cable like the one supplied with the phone? I do not believe that lg does not sell it alone.
I would prefer the lg cable.

Yes. Just contact LG customer service and they'll ship it 2 you for, I believe, $8 + shipping.
u got it all wrong. The charge speed is not determend by the size.
If u What to charge with over 500mah u ned to chortsircut data wires or your Phone just Thinks it Connected to a copmputer usb port. Most chargers have this i The charger. some lowqualety chargers dont. thats Whe o are slowcharging.
mod the cable. (cant
be used as data aftrr)
If it's just a cable, I think it doesn't matter as much.
I tested my old HTC cable and Motorola cable and both are able to fast charge me phone.
Members, you can use this thread for this Topic, btw I use an official Sammy Note 3 charge works great IMO, cheap on Amazon.

[Q] Wireless Charging....

Hi there,
My S3 has a problem with the motherboard where something between the charging port and battery is broken and the phone cannot charge via cord. I have been forced to take the battery out every night and charge it on a battery charger. After recent googles I have seen wireless chargers are available for the S3 but I'm not quite sure how they work. I know the receiver is connected to he battery, but I need to know if this method charges through whatever is broken in the motherboard or if it charges directly to the battery?
If someone with good knowledge or experience of this could answer that'd be awesome!
The charger is a QI branded one on eBay.
Thanks in advance!

Not charging while using lots of power?

I recently got this phone and also got the new 4.8A Anker charger with built in cable + USB port.
I noticed that my phone won't charge in the car while it's being used as GPS. It won't discharge (at most very slowly) but it stops charging after a few minutes.
I found my sister's nexus 4 does the same thing!?
So I called anker and told them about it and they thought maybe I had a faulty unit, so I got the replacement and it's doing the same thing.
I wondered if it was a LG issue (since the OG and N4 are siblings) and checked if I could duplicate the effect on my home charger (which, BTW, can allow up to 1.8A to be pulled) and I was able to.
I would prefer my phone to actually gain battery life while using it as GPS. Lol. Is there a way to stop the phone from just living off the charger and not actually charging?
Thanks.

[Q] LG Charging Issues with other adapters

So far, loving the LG G3, but I noticed the chargers that used to charge my S3 seem to not be compatible with my LG G3. In my car I have a 3.1A charger and I tried both ports and received a red X on the battery icon saying that charging has stopped because it is not supported and may damage the phone. I know that the adapter that it comes with is 1.8A, so 2amps from a car charger should be fine, could it be the wire?
Also tried using a wall ac adapter (previously used to power Chromecast but using USB power instead) and that also gave me the same error, even though that one is also 2.1A

The one thing I've noticed with my G3 is that it's extremely hard to plug any other charger into the phone other than the stock g3 one... I almost thought the port on the phone was junk since my fairly new S4 USB charger should easily fit into this phone.... So I don't know.
Just something quarky with this phone I think..

G2 was same way. These phones are extremely picky on which cable is used to charge it.

Eeenteresting...Stock charger, Dell tablet charger, Griffin mini dual port car charger and miscellaneous Monoprice cords all charge my phone full speed without any warning pop-ups.

[Q] Charging issues

I just picked up a Verizon LG G3 used...didn't come with the original charger all of my 2amp chargers are INCREDIBLY SLOW, like an hour for %1. I am stock but rooted. If I were using a crappy charger I would understand, but this is so strange. Any suggestions? Perhaps apps that force fast charging? I am new to the rooted scene... Thanks!

Rooting has nothing to do with it.
Either the phone is bad or your cable/charger.

i just got my G3 today and i am seeing a similar issue.
while setting up for about 2 hours, i gained maybe 4%.
turned off, it looks to charge pretty quick, went from 58% to 78% in less than a 1/2 hour.
while the screen is off, it seems to do, ok, not sure i would call it fast. gained 7% in 20 minutes.
i appreciate any thoughts, even if its a "mine isnt slow like that".
i bought it new from swappa (new), and need to figure out if i have an issue.
Thanks
Try to find an original lg charger man the g3 is the pickiest phone I've ever had with chargers(and cable) , everything except the oem charger that I've tried does the slow charge or the not charging thing. I have tried other quality chargers with it as well and they are slow so just try and get an oem one and see if that fixes the issue

those results were with the oem charger included in the box, also similar results while trying my g2 oem charger.
If it's charging slow with the oem cable charger combo it's a possibility it maybe a defect in the charger but again it maybe a hardware issue, get it swapped thru warranty if you can.

Very odd results here...
My Verizon LG G3 charge was quite low last night, so I plugged it into an LG OEM 1.2amp charger with a Samsung cable. It told me that setup was not supported, and it refused to charge At All, so I changed the cable to a gold-plated Monoprice one (excellent cables...I bought 10). No difference, still would not charge at all and it was down under 10%, so I was getting worried.
Then, on a whim, I plugged in an old HTC 1.0amp charger with the Monoprice cable. Fast charge ! Switched in the Samsung cable, still fast charge !
Less amps, not OEM, but fast charge. No charge at all from the LG 1.2amp charger, which was either from my N5 or N7.
All combos worked at A/C charge speeds on my Nexus5.
After the G3 charged for a while and got up well out of the Danger Zone, I plugged it back in to the combo it had previously told me was incompatible and refused to charge from. Now that it was at 50% or so, that same combo charged the G3 without any complaint !
It is beginning to look like there is some flaw in the G3 charging detection circuitry, where it will refuse to charge when very low from a charging combo that it will charge from just fine if it has more battery available.

From what other users have told me the G3 is just very picky when it comes to what charger you use. Mine is the same way. My Sammy charger from my S4 will only charge the G3 slowly.
Something on the Kernel side of things is my guess. It's not something that's terribly wrong with the phone... Just a pain in the ass.

My Samsung charger cable does the slow charge thing on my g3 as well.....yet this dinky cable I had to buy at a rental c as r counter after forgetting my cord on a trip works perfectly. Some cables I bought at 5 below won't work at all....but worked fine on other phones.

I'm using the stock cable but off my Macbook Pro usb 3.0 port. When using the phone it does not charge but actually drains the battery (very slowly). How do I determine if the phone is good to keep?

Mine charges when connected to my MacBook Air.
Also depends on what you are doing on the phone. Get a high quality cable.
