Is there a way to theme the stock rom?

All I want to do is modify the framework to give me the percent battery and also change the notifications. Can I use the framework on the stock Rom to change that since I'm rooted or do I have to have a different Rom that's modified?

Try the question and answer section please!
Yes you can, just do a backup before you attempt the changes and backup the original Framework-res.apk somewhere.
By back up some may wanna say nandroid or nand but we are NOT running Amon Ra anymore so lets drop the Nand..... Its kind of a slap in the face to the folks at Clockwork. And who let us root???????
THANKS CWM TEAM!
Sorry normally would have put it in there but figured it would be better in the development forum...mods feel free to move since it would be better in there

I honestly think a sticky at the top of each forum for questions would make things easier for everyone to find and help the lazy. But the one in the development section was closed and they refereed everyone to Q and A. I wasnt trying to be rude. And I dont mind helping, its just hard to find apps and themes amongst all the questions.
Ya I usually don't post easy questions like this but I tried to find somewhere that talked about the stock Rom and framework but didn't find much. Love the Rom since it was the same Rom I used on my G2 but it was Evils custom rom. Hard to go back to stock when your used to modifying your own images lol

I hear that, its no fun if its not custom.
Did you see my thread on changing the android on the usb connect screen? Its also done through the framework. I would post link but I'm mobile. :/

Nope haven't looked into it right now, since I just switched from the G2 I was going to read up on everything before but it seems like most of the G2 stuff is almost the same as the myTouch 4G so I'll be able to just go to town lol. If I do anything new I'll definitely add it to the pot once I get something good

You can't actually change the notifications pane with that, but there are notification icons and the percentage battery changes there. I just use the silver circle one and left the rest stock, nice b&w feel to it.
More complex changes require a deodexed ROM like IG, CM6/7, eViL's MIUI, etc.
Is there a stock rom that's been deodexed? That's all I'm looking for right now but I'm not finding anything

Im told that Iced Glacier is pretty much a faster version of the stock rom. (I havent tried it myself)
However if you are just trying to change the Icons in the status bar you dont need to be deodexed to use the mods in the link previously mentioned. Im running stock rom with one of those mods myself currently
Ya I was able to change the notification icons, signal, battery...only thing I couldn't do without having FC issues was change the battery into a percent. Even with those mods on the link I was getting FC issues

status bar icons

first screen shot is mine i have GS2 ginger bread 2.3.3 i just want to know how can i change my status bar icon (battery.clock, wifi, signal) in any ways other then which come when i bought i am new so please help like screen shot which i capture on this forum help
I'm not going to hold your hand nor is anyone else on this forum, but you need to learn to read and search. The image icons you're seeking to change/modify are stored in SystemUI.apk.
Good luck.
Or can I atleast reduce the space between them.(clock battery signal wifi) help..help..

Listen man, I understand you're new here but it'd help if you gave out more information about the firmware you're using in order to better enable people help you out. You spewing out help, help, help, doesn't help out anyone. Please be more informative and others here will be able to better assist you in your endeavors.
Since I'm bored, pull your systemui.apk and I'll take a look at it.

ICS Text Squashed, PLEASE SEE

Guys, I've noticed this on all ICS ROM's that the text in notifications and on lockscreen is squashed and not looking good, seems like the text size has been compressed which makes it unreadable/look bad. I tried changing the font size in settings but it has no effect on notification drawr and lockscreen. Please help me fix this, this thing spoils the beauty of ICS
U first stop creating a new thread for all the problems u are facing.. instead u can pm anyone of our devs and ask .. don't overload xda server .. we are having more than 2 discussion threads for ics, u can ask there ..
What am I supposed to SEE? There's not even a frickin' screenshot attached of your "squashed" text.

Like lolphirae said, you didn't attach any screenshot so we cannot know how your text looks.
Did you try Roboto font on a GB rom? Roboto is more square-y than Droid, maybe it's that combined with our MDPI screen...

Actually devs hate it when you PM devs for technical support
People were pm ing Franco on how to flash kernels and that was bad

How do you make coffee? Oh crap, wrong forums..I meant to post in Starbucks...ha...yeah if you honestly don't know how to flash a kernel, than give yourself a big hug because you'll be that moron who screws his/her phone up....To OP,I'm not positive about why you seem to have that problem..I never recognized it while using any ICS rom...did you ever try using spare parts to increase/decrease the size? Either way,ill agree with what was initially posted. Its better to find an expert or intermediate user who can guide you to your solutions, irregular posts are the reasons why some devs are leaving..I can't say I understand why only because when I was developing on my T-Mobile g1. What seems to have been years ago. Blind just ignore the dumb questions and comments....I enjoyed doing work arounds and code work, who cares about all these rules on XDA...Anyways,if you find a solution b4 the thread is locked, please share with the rest of us

touch navigation bar

hey guys,
i was wondering if there is any way to get those customisable bottom touch navigation bar controls(like in some of the 4.0.4 custom roms), activated in stock LPG ( or any stock firmware)???
thank you.
I take it you didn't watch the welcome video, noob? Wrong section, and it's been asked and answered dozens of times. Look by the Android version number, not the ROM codename. It's handled by the build.prop file, so if it's supported in your version and you're rooted its a simple fix.
If you're not rooted you can't do it. Period.

thanks. sorry abt posting in the wrong section.
i tried a search before posting this thread, but couldnt find the exact info i wanted. it was showing suggestions for galaxy nexus mods and images for navigation bar icons. so wasnt sure whether it could be tried out for Galaxy S2 also. being a noob, wasnt too confident.
can u plz post a link to the thread for the SGS2.
thank you.

I think that this site is what you need

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but what exactly is the LGhome3 and what will change if I use one of the one's that where linked above me? I see there is LGhome.JB4.apk and some others. I think i have an idea what LGhome3 is, but i guess im not exactly sure. Lol. Thanks in advance.

LGHome3 is the version of the LGHome Launcher that as far as I know, LG make it for ICS and partially upgraded with the 4.1.2 upgrade (It just add some wallpapers and some basic changes to the widgets). The LGHome.JB4.apk that you saw was a port from somebody in the community to make it available for 4.2 since the other versions FC and wouldn't work properly. Currently that port works partially and for 4.2 and FC when you try some things.
You can also see another version of the LGHome in the market called Simple Home by LGElectronics ( http://goo.gl/7eAVz ) and I think it was the version 2 since it doesn't have an app drawer, don't came with the widgets and it's compatible with Froyo 2.2.
About the themes you were looking for, LGHome has themes since version 2. Some carriers like AT&T block all the themes (I don't know why!) or only left 1 or 2 in their deploy, but they could be found at the Korean and Japanese ROMs.
Looking for a LGHome port to 4.2 I found some themes that work at http://goo.gl/bjjjr
Also found this other page where there's a link to download 10 themes for the LGHome at http://goo.gl/mKeIm
Please take note that to those themes to work properly they have to be installed in the /System/App folder (Need root access) and not in the /Data/App folder where the apps normally install when you use the installation wizard opening the apk directly. The links I provided previously have a very good tutorial of how to install them in a way that they work.
Anyway, LGHome is a very good launcher but if you are looking for another experience about themes and changing the appearance try another launchers like Nova and Apex that will give you a very Nexus 4 feeling and are very good saving battery life. Also you can use Go Launcher that have a lot of free themes. Or if you want to make huge changes or get very different experience check buzz launcher or MiHome that have some really good themes and some crazy stuff.
Go out there and try them all and every time you want to try something different, have more than 1 working launcher installed just in case and make backup of everything you overwrite in case you damage something.
Good luck.
^^ wow. That was one of the best replies I've gotten on here! Excellent! Thank you very much for the great information. That was above and beyond helpful. Thanks again. Cheers
