Flash a proper/working kernel. When we first got these ROMs it was a very widespread problem. A kernel that wasn't meant to go with a certain ROM usually caused a wifi problem. Check the thread for that ROM and find the right kernel.
Hi, I have stock rom on my Evo but I want to change the kernel. Stock kernel is too slow. Can you say me what's the best kernel to flash on stock rom? Link too pls.
Thanks.

There's a post with all available kernels for GSM in the subforum called "EVO 3d GSM android development"
Here is it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465952
Stock kernel is the best kernel for any ROM.
Anthrax
Sent from my E3D
I tried to flash anthra and leedroid kernel but revocery gives me error saying:
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/newboot.img","boot")
E:Error in /sdcard/LeeDroid Kernel.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
Help??
Are you on HBOOT 1.5 and/or S-ON? Use Flash Image GUI ($0.99 in the Android Market) to flash the kernel or flash the kernel through fastboot. Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvik-cache.

wrong.
don't ever flash an anthrax kernel on a stock rom. you will have a **** storm of problems.
the reason why is stock roms have CIQ, and carrier IQ writes to the ramdisk. stock roms need space allocated specifically for carrier IQ.
what happens is (for example stock rom and anthrax) CIQ looks for allocated free mem (which is actually encoded in the ramdisk), does not find it (because chad's kernels have it removed 100%), and writes anyways... possibly over existing data cached to ram.... which could be an app you have running, or other important data... like the running android software.....
freezes, force closes, crashes, lockups, all imminent.

Only stock ROMs prior to the 2.17 OTA have ciq. Even the new stock builds come without it.
he didn't say what RUU.... and I didn't feel like asking so I gave him a safe answer. but you are absolutely correct sir

Hi,
I use the application "Flash Image Gui". I'm using the version 5.3.3 of "Leedroid kernel" on my stock ROM for several weeks, with only two crashes ... I previously tried the "Anthrax kernel", but had frequently reboots.
Greetings.

I am running the charmaleon rom and I have a wifi error, thus, no wifi, it was working earlier, I did flash a new htc resources that is themed, but my other one was themed as well.
I restored a nand where I knew the wifi was working, and it has an error also, it doesn't have a number with it, just error
any thoughts?

Update your radios/firmware and flash a different ROM
Sent from my Mean-ass LTEVO using Iced-Out XDA
I had flashed mean rom earlier and the kernel got removed when I flashed a different rom, I have to keep Mean ROm's kernel on there, going to try to flash just wiping dalvik and cache
and that got the wifi working, are there kernels available yet if someone knows?

Yes kernels are available. A simple search will produce what you seek.

I've been using RemICS 1.3.1 ROM for a while. And now I'd like to upgrade to current 4.2.1 version but I'm getting Status 7 error: assert failed. I've found that I should try using Icy Glitch v14 kernel to flash a new rom but all links to this kernel are dead and I can't find it. Can someone help me to upgrade?
BTW: Should I expect some new bug on JB ? GPS is still not working there I guess...

I had the same thing at some point last night as well, along with all the unknown upload mode errors and a series of other issues. The best advice I can give is to just keep trying different combinations.
I did end up going all the way back to stock a number of times. This might sound silly, but if I remember correctly, I successfully flashed ICZen and then I installed RemICS-JB from there. Had to swap the vold.fstab of course, but it's running very smoothly with RemICS-JB and Semaphore 2.9.
Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance, but with the amount of combinations and paths I tried, it's all a jumble.
Hi,
It gave me Status 7 error. Then I pulled the battery and rebooted into CWM. But after that it gave me freezed kernel screen
and I again did a battery pull and booted into CWM which was then converted to semaphore. Then I flashed the ROM again and gapps successfully
Hope this helps

I recently tried to install a new kernel, but it didn't work. The problem was that I had already installed the kernel modules for the new kernel but had flash the stock one. So now the Wifi did work but I had no connection to the cellular network nor could I send text messages or phone anybody.
My solution was just to get the stock modules and paste them into /system/lib/modules and delete the old ones. And well it did work but now my wifi doesn't work. All it says, after about an hour trying to switch on wifi, is: Error
I'm running the stock rom (jb, sense 4+) and the kernel (1.17.401.1)
These are my current modules:

Download Nik3r's stock kernel with embedded modules, elite kernel, or hx0re. All great with multiple purposes.
Hope to have helped.
