[Q] X10 mini kinda hard bricked - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi there
I hope someone can give me a solution how to resurrect my phone from the adroid graveyard...
Phone: x10mini (e10i / robyn)
Problem: does not respond to anything (no charge led, no turn on, no flashmode, and so on)
I was fed up with not being able to put apps on my sc card and internal memory full of unwanted apps, so tried to upgrade from android 2.1 to more recent version (CM7), but somehow a long the way I made some mistakes
Rooting worked fine, also phone put in debugging mode, firmware cheked ok (211106)
But when flashing kernel I chose the wrong one: x10blrelock (damn you x10 !)
I am not sure if I disconnected usb too soon or not...
I really must have found the worst walkthrough ever, because I also did not put any zip file on the sd card, nor did I install CWM recovery
Tried many key combos but no reaction from phone
Brought the phone to local unbricker -> he said he could bring it into download mode but at 50% flashed phone quits.
I asked him how het gets the phone in flash mode and said something about DIY system with 2 cables...
Now I want to at least get into flash mode (so I can try to get past 50%, because local unbricker was not familiar with the x10mini, more of a samsung guy)
At home I tried usb jig: stripped usb cable and put 300k ohm resistor to usb pin 4 and 5, but no luck
Phone put over 20hrs in charger, but no difference
Anybody got some ideas without JTAG or sending to SONY ?? I know the phone is quite old and second hand cheap, but I really liked my phone :crying:
-> Before I tried this flashing I read "difficult to hard brick" after I've bricked it I find a lot of posts about x10 bricked...So maybe someone has figured out what to do about it yet?
(I think I saw once a site with guy stripping x10mini to add some cables but can not find it again. I don't think it was for jtag or anything)
Any tips are well appreciated

The same, briked x10 mini when flashing to nAa + minicm10
I have the same problem when flashing to nAa kernel+minicm10.
First bootlooping on nAa logo, then i tried to recover to old kernel and then it just got a light displaying nothing.
Then it seams as the battery got off and it do not charge neither recognize on flashtool.
I know i've done some sheat wrong. But instead of wearing another smartphone, i liked my x10 mini so much.
I needed to upgrade the android to use proxy and access point.
If there is a way to bring it back and update to minicm with android 2.3 or upper.... What nice!
If not,
R.I.P. mine old and good X10mini! I miss you!

to both of you. Have you tried using SEUS to restore the phone to factory?

any luck on this ??
did you resolve this ??? i've done it twice now - some little phone shop fixed first time but pricey....

Find a repair shop that offers JTAGging service (with hardware like the Riff box). India is huge so you will probably have an easier time of finding one than I did.

[Q] Could you please help? Major problem

Help please. I'm basically in a boot loop with no recovery. Idk what I should do or if its possible to make a warranty claim.
Hey guys I'm in a boot loop of some kind. I'm not an advanced user of this stuff but idk what to do at this point. So this is the situation. I have a X10a from at&t and its rooted with busybox and freex10 recovery or whatever. I had a default 2.1 ROM and flashed the offline recharging thing. My phone seemed to work fine but then my battery died out. For a while I've had recharging problems with my phone either my cable is messed up or the usb port. So anyways after it died out I tried to recharge but I was in the 3x red flashing light problem and accidentally broke my charger cord, but continuing I borrowed my friends cord and still had problems so knowing my usb port is kinda broken i just left it there. After about 2 hours my phone majestically starts up lol. So I decided I wanted to put on xrecovery just incase and My computer wont read my phone. I try everything from takeing out my sd card to restarting my computer to reinstalling pc companion like 20 times. So I tried a factory reset through the phone settings and ended up where i currently am in a boot loop. It turns on and does the sony ericsson thing then does the boot animation then my phone vibrates and the screen darkens and my buttons are lit up. It has been like this for about 30 mins so far. I tried restarting my phone by taking out the battery and taking out the sd card/sim card.
Sorry for this being long but this is my situation. Could you please help me out? I Don't know if I can do a warranty claim or anything I'm desperate so please any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also if there is anymore information you need please just ask.
the boot loop problem sounds like a wrong baseband issue, as for the usb problems you're experiencing I'm not sure how to help you there. Hopefully someone has an answer.
Just install stock generic 2.1 with Flashtool!
Install stock firmware through flashtool
Please hit a thanks if u r satisfied...
you can also use Sony`s SEUS to flash to stock 2.1. easiest way to return to stock
Yeah but my computer can't read my phone. I think it's because im using a HTC usb cable instead of the one issued by sony ericsson. That or my usb port on my phone is broken. Lets hope it's the first one. I'm gonna get a new cable soon

I think you need to install the SEUS program by Sony Ericsson and has a download link on their website to get the phone drivers. Try it if you haven't tried it.

Had that same problem when I first flashed my phone. Either SEUS should do it or flashtool.
Is your computer picking up anything at all? Is it trying to recognise the phone at all?

Not responding to power on

Hi Guys,
I'm guessing that there's nothing that can be done but last hope!
Last night i was trying to update my Gf's Optimus One with little success using KDZ, got to the point where it wouldnt boot, so flashed the original ROM back to it, during the process after a few minutes it gave an error code and the Flash was unsuccessful. Thought' id' reboot the phone into Emergency and try the flash again - it errored pretty much straight away - Pulled battery from phone - reinserted it and now nothing!
The phone will not respond to power on, USB insert, etc Just completely dead..
Im guessing i know the answer already - but is there anything that can bring this back from the dead.... Seriously in the Doghouse!
Cheers

I bricked my phone the same way.
I was trying to flash the original russian Gingerbread with LGMDP and there was a cable connection problem... I chose to erase all data before flashing (EFS Erase ALL). If only mobile devices had BIOS...
No hope, unfortunately. You have to connect your chipset to a computer and manually write all data... Or send to LG Service Center. Just hope they'll fix it for free... (They can't detect how you wiped device's boot loader if all the flash memory is empty)

Thanks for the links - i was working my way through the second one at 3am this morning.. Yes - i've even tried Shaking it
The P500 community has produced some wonderful guides and looking at it seems like the device is almost impossible to Brick completely, just how this happened i havn't a clue, seems ive managed the almost impossible..
I'd more than likely be able to ressurect it if it responded to anything at all - but no power, and nothing when the USB is inserted, no vibration, no lights, no signs of life...
the phone may be under warranty, but ive got to dig out the reciept - and i cant even begin to think where that is..
Well anyway i've had to buy her a replacement today - ended up with a Samsung Galaxy Mini as they dont stock the Optimus one anymore. Closest thing i could find.
Cheers for the help guys - i guess next effort will be warranty repair.
dude pls try uninstallin all the lg drivers usb etc etc and then try it again...it happend to me but ive still managed to ressurect it so try this and after send it to warranty

[Q] Bricked my phone?

So I had previously rooted my SGSII, and decided to try installing CM7 on it. I used CWM Recovery and ran it off the SD card, and everything appeared to work fine. I think I had a bad/not fully functioning CWM or something, as it didn't list an option to backup anything (I'm guessing because I flashed the stock kernel after rooting?) Anyway, it will no longer boot. I can access download mode, but Odin fails everytime I try to flash anything back on there. When I try to boot my phone, I just get a "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue" error.
EDIT: I just tried again as I was writing this, after rebooting, reinstalling my drivers and rebooting my computer. I was able to get the Firmware to flash properly in Odin. Now I have my phone booting and getting stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 splash screen... Doesn't seem to go any further than that though, unfortunately.
Any ideas what I can do? Is it possible that I need re-flash a bootloader or something ??
Any help would be supremely appreciated!
So I was just trying to re-install the Kernel, using the CF unsecured kernel, and it failed, but when I try to go into recovery mode, it looks as though it managed to install CWM Recovery. I have no idea what to do from here, and am sort of afraid to do anything for fear or bricking the phone completely...
I'm hoping someone out there knows how to fix this, I feel like such a tool
As long as you can get into download-mode, your phone isn't bricked.
If you switch from or to a TouchWiz-based ROM, you have to do a full-wipe in the recovery.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Go back to stock first via download mode via odin
Nah you're good. Similar thing happened to me at my first flashing attempt. Get your stock firmware from Intratech's thread, put the phone into download mode & flash the firmware via Odin.
Then maybe have another go at rooting the phone with the matching CFRoot kernel.

yes, if you can still go in download mode it's no so difficult..this "small brick" it's on of "Android things to do" once in your SGS2 life
Hi guys. I'm in a worst situation. As my phone after a failed ODIN downgrade from Android 2.3.6 to one stock kernel is completelly dead - it doesn't boot anymore - not even managed to put it back into download mode or revert to fact defaults (no keys, no lights not even battery charging displayed when pluged in) - tryed the USB jig also. Nothing worked.
The question is: Will Samsung manage to repair and how much will it cost - an average ammount offcourse. Because I guess it's out of the question to be considered a warranty issue. I guess it will be visible somebody have done smth to the ROM by a software approach....
This is the short story because I would bore you to discuss all the things I have been through - it was only my faoult out of stupidity
HELP!
I don't see why Samsung wouldn't fix it ? As to how much they'll charge you, I think you'll find that will vary from country to country (labour costs being variable, etc). No, I don't think you'll be able to have it repaired under warranty.
You might want to look at having it JTAG repaired by someone other than Samsung. This will possibly be cheaper than having Samsung repair it. Do a search on here/Google.

Thank you very much. I have searched alot to actually understand - unfortunatelly for me it will cost... I saw on youtube a JTAG in action right now (cannot post the link yet). I understand now it is the only way. I'll keep you posted guys. Tomorrow I'll go to service.
I'm sorry it's going to cost Alex. A difficult thing to happen, I know
Here's a link for a JTAG repairer in the US who is also a member here, tho I see you've already found one. I'm sure doing it this way will be cheaper/probably faster than having Samsung do the repair as well.

Thax. Funny thing is that this is exactly the thing I found - the same mobiletechvideos in US Now I allready have an ideea of how much should cost that. Hopefully I'll find a local GSM repair shop with the posibilitty to unbrick it cheep - or at least not much than 50USD - in local currency ofcource.
I'm still thinking if it is possible to use an ATMEL copy process - like in the old times for EEPROMS - I have done that in the past. In theory it might work but I will never do it - alredy scared about what happened to my beloved droid.
Thx again Mistah and have a gr8 day and a wonderfull new 2012!
Yeah I've seen a report or two on here from people who have used his service & have been happy. Must admit I found his page when thought I'd bricked my phone after my first flash attempt messed up. Yeah you might be able to get it done cheaper somewhere local, and that will mean less time without the phone for you without the phone in mail from you to the US & back again.
Let us know how you get on, your experience will be a good guide for people in future who have the same problems as you.
No probs man, happy to give you the little help I did. You too Alex Hope you have a great year & you get your phone back & working soon

[Q] Vodafone Smart 2 (alcatel v860) stuck at boot logo

My apologies if this post is already started elsewhere (please guide me there if you can), but it seem the search is not possible today...
I rooted my brand new Vodafone Smart 2 and in order to free some memory I was moving some files from internal to SD card. Noticing a folder in the root called custpack (and thinking it was the specific folder Vodafone used for its teaking) I wanted to play around with it on my computer, but instead of copying it to SD card, I MOVED it... :0 At the first command the screen turned gray and the phone froze. I can turn it off now only by removing the battery. When it starts it can't go pass the android logo (boot image) and the screen turns gray. I know that Power button and Volume Down yield to Recovery menu, but my ROM is branded Vodafone Albania and they have removed that option. All I get is the option for factory reset (or I think that is what "All you data will be lost, Yes/No" means). Accepting that does restart the phone but still the same logo and gray screen afterwards.
Unfortunately, I can't install from SD due to this branded Vodafone AL ROM I have, and adb device command at the command prompt (DOS) does not recognize the phone (it did recognize before as I have the drivers loaded and Android SDK Tools).
Can someone help me either bringing the Recovery option to install from SD so I can try a complete flash of the original, or if there is any way I can have the adb recognise the device, or if there is any other way. I found a user here (Voda_Smart_2) that seemed to have the same problem and someone had said could help but only through PM. I tried to reply the thread so I could present my case, but as a newly registered I was not allowed to post on developers forums.
PLEASE HELP ME - For someone who uses a low-end phone like Vodafone Smart II option to buy a new one after ruining a new one is not possible....

Thank you for interest and concern for my situation! I know very well roeddie custom rom for VS2. I have actually installed version 0.9.1 as well as version 0.9.9 to some friends. I have the undestanding that the AIO he uses requires that the phone be recognized by the PC (adb devices does not list anything in my case). However, I'll give it a try and let this forum know if roeddie AIO flasher (OTA update 3) does install without the need for PC to recognize the android phone.
Thanks,
Don

Yes, I still have a problem with my VS2/V860 - stuck at boot logo without fastboot. I can't seem to find a way how to get it recognized. Can you help me? It would be really helpful since now my brother has the same problem after trying to flash latest roeddie mod (June 1, 2013).

dead battery is the answer
well guys if anyone of you still use this device; a possible fault that causes infinite boot logo screen is dead battery. Actually the controller board of the battery gets shorted causing a stable 1.7v output instead of 3.8~4.2v and refuses to charge even pushing power to it from an external power supply. Thats why the phone stucks on logo; it is the same reaction to connecting the phone to the charger without a battery... what you have to do is to find a used or a new battery (if it's still worth to do so...)

Thanks for the suggestion! It is not a problem of battery, as I have tried with two other batteries from friends' V860. Plus, if it is a board circuit then it does not matter if the we change the battery, unless with 'board' you mean the way batteries are connected inside the battery pack.
Thanks once again! Your answer is much appreciated! Keep them coming if you think about something else. I still have this phone, just for because I like to know what was the problem or how to overcomes such situations in the future.

[Q] X10mini Pro completely dead!

First of all, I wanted to say hello since this is my first post here :victory: and also please if I am posting wrong or if this question has been answered before forgive me, but I have already searched on google and on this forum and found no related posts Ok now about my problem:
I have a "Sony Ericsson Xperia X10mini Pro" with MiniCM10-4.1.0-20130416(mimmi) and 2.6.32.60-nAa-jb-05 kernel installed. Yesterday I decided to go back to U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14 kernel and MiniCM7-2.2.1-mimmi-UNOFFICIAL because of wifi problems. I have done the flashing process with flashtool a lot of times in the past and I can't be wrong with it this time.
The problem started after flashing my kernel. Flashtool flashed the U20_nAa-14_2.6.29.6-nAa-14 kernel fine and phone was OK ready to reboot, so I unplugged the USB cable to start it on recovery so I could install Minicm from SD, but since I unplugged the cable the phone is DEAD! No led and no charging! :crying: When I try to reflash it, flashtool doesn't recognize it, I am pressing the back button and plugging it in but the phone is not recognized. It is not charging when I am plugging it on the charger and its not even trying to boot. I tried different cables, different battery (from a friend with the same phone) and nothing. Is there a way to force flash it back? Please any help will be appreciated since I have tried everything I know...
This has happend to other users too reasently.
I'm not sure if it only happens when going from JB to GB or it also happens when going from GB to JB.
We need to investigate why/how it happens and how to prevent it.
I always recomend to do a battery stat whipe just before a planed kernel-flash. I had simular problem once (no charge, no boot, no nothing) after a kernel-flash. I solved it by putting in a battery from another Mimmi (my wife has the same model). For some reason everything worked fine doing so. After battery stat whipe, the phone worked with my own battery again.
Best advise for others is for now: When you want to flash new kernel, first do a SEUS/PC Companion repair
This should be written into all install-instructions and mentioned again and again to avoid same problem for others.
I'm not sure how the other users solved this. Was it only by JTAG?
Thank you for your answer! :good:
First of all, there was no battery wipe option on this release of the kernel As I said before I have done it a couple of times in the past and every time with battery wipe, except this one and besides, I already tried your solution with my friends battery with no luck... So probably I am looking for another solution.
And one last thing about your post, what is "JTAG"?? I have seen it on other posts before but without explanation as to what it is, the only JTAG I know of is on the xbox360 And if its a possible solution how can I possibly do it? Is there a post with instructions?? (I will search on my own too now, but a recommended guide from someone who knows better is much appreciated!)

I'm pretty sure he flashed the x10blrelock.ftf instead of the u20 kernel and that is why his phone went dead.
A JTAG for our phone will do basically the same thing as a JTAG for the xbox, it restores original phone-state, but you need special equipment to do it, which is quite expensive. Most repair-shops will have one.

Thank you for the answer about jtag, I also checked for myself and found about the expensive equipment and propably its not the way for me
But about the kernel I am pretty sure it was the right file...
I know that a dead phone means bad kernel but its a process that I have done before a lot of times with success on mine and other phones My best guess is that something interrupted the process (bad usb cable?) or corrupted downloaded kernel file If that's the case is there an alternative solution? :crying:

Usually, whatever you flash, even if it goes bad, flashmode is still available because that doesn't get tampered with, the only true hardbrick i've ever seen is when flashing that x10blrelock.ftf, which happens quite a lot lately.
Just for fun i even formatted my entire phone once, no kernel, no rom, completely empty, and flashmode was still there so it could be recovered.
I noticed that in some older versions of flashtool you sometimes had to click the kernel you wanted twice in order to get it to pick up the right one. Normally there's not much difference you can spot (most .ftf's just contain a loader and a kernel), but i had full SE firmware in .ftf format, which contained other sections too, and that's where i noticed it didn't always pick it up right at the first time of clicking.

I just had a look online for prices in my country, it seems to be around €25.

SmG67 thank you again and I will delete x10blrelock.ftf just in case....
hi guys, i have the same problem too, when my rom is minicm10 and my kernel is jb-naa-05, i want to go back to MiniCM7 because of green screen camera in MiniCM10 so i go back to MiniCM7, I flashed the right kernel e10-2.6.29.6-naa-14 for my x10 mini via flashtool and after i flash the kernel, my phone does not booting up(5 mins no booting up) so i decided to use seus but seus does not recognize my x10 mini, i try flashtool, but flashtool is not recognize my x10 mini so i tried to flash my created stock 2.1.ftf(thanks to leajian) and selected x10 mini from device selection(my x10 mini is not recognize in flashtool), then i wait until it finish, when i tried to open my phone, it boots up and show sony ericsson logo and it boots up(sucess!!!)...
sorry for my english...
so for all MiniCM10 Users, Dont try to go back to MiniCM7 If your Rom is MiniCM10 because it will cause your phone to not booting up like my problem.

If you follow nAa's instructions properly, there is no problem.
What you have to do:
Wipe data/factory reset in CWM on the JB-kernel
Flash the GB-kernel
Format /system, /data en /cache, so they get back to the original sizes
Flash the GB-ROM, or restore a previous GB-backup you may have had
No problems at all...
And your phone still had flashmode available, unlike the OP of this thread, so you don't have the 'same' problem
