OK, I think it is "sort of fixed" but, here goes...
I booted into recovery to do a fresh wipe/install of CleanRom 1.3 (odexed version).
Wife got me side tracked and after wiping dalvik and then system, I accidently rebooted before flashing the ROM.
Phone was stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy S4" screen.
Tried booting into Recovery (twrp 2.5.0.2) but, apparently I wasn't holding the Volume Up button long enough and the phone would just reboot to the normal "Samsung Galaxy S4" screen again and hang.
So I went into Download mode, and tried re-rooting the phone using the instructions here, Odin said "PASS" but, after waiting about 10 minutes, the phone still hung at the same screen.
I was then able to successfully boot into recovery, reflashed the Scotts Cleanrom 1.3 odexed (found here) and everything seems to be fine.
Question is, I never was able to flash, using Odin, the stock kernel again but, in the "about phone" menu, it shoes me as being on the 3.4.0-562219 kernel version.
Is this OK?
How would I do a fresh wipe (I'm talking EVERY MO****IN THING) and start again from stock, everything stock except SD card?

Thank you, the weird thing is, I am not bricked at all, once I was able to boot into recovery and reflash the rom mentioned in OP, phone is acting like normal, tried several normal reboots and all is well.
Should I do an unroot flash and start from scratch or is this one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" sort of situations?

Hello all, introduced myself the other day, I'm new to the Galaxy SII and have had it only a few short days. And already I've managed to screw it up! LoL. No really what I made this thread for is to let people who may have done the same thing I've done that there is a solution. Here's what I did. Download the VillainRom and the Hellraise MOD from the development section. I put them both on internal SD card, rebooted into clockwork mod recovery, and flashed Villlain ROM. After that, I was SUPPOSED to flash Hellraiser so it would be compatible with the I777 since it's an international version ROM. But I was talking to my son at the same time and FORGOT and let it reboot and boot up into VillainROM. I was at this point very worried, as I thought a bunch of errors would occur. But not a bunch did. However I knew this wasn't good and tried immediately to reboot into recovery, wipe, and redo the process PROPERLY. Except when I rebooted, it rebooted me into clockwork mod recovery 4.0 version. Now, at this point, none of the capacitive buttons or the power button would select anything. It just showed the Clockwork Mod logo when I clicked on anything to wipe, reboot, anything. SO, here's what I did to fix this mistake. I download the clockwork mod recovery .tar that is flashable with Odin (the one for I777), rebooted back into VillainRom, put the phone into Download mode, and flashed it. Then I let the phone reboot, and then rebooted a second time into what I HOPED would be the correct version of CWM. And thank God, it was. However, the capacitive buttons were STILL not working correctly. The answer? They DO work, however, they are out of order. Different buttons do different things but if you figure the order out you can wipe and flash back to a ROM for our device. I just wanted to post this, in case anyone else messed up like I did.
edit: It did not, however, change the Boot Logo from thinking I'm running the international version. That still says i9100

You could have just flashed the stock ROM though Odin. That would have fixed everything and given you a fresh start but that's up to others to decide.

You DID read the first post for codeworkx's CWM kernel for the button mappings, right?
IF you had CWM 5.x after flashing his tar, it did correctly flash.
Also, all you have to do now is just flash hellraiser - should be OK even after booting VR normally, although NFC might flake out... I haven't tested what happens if you flash hellraiser after /data is created

Hi Guys
I flashed the leaked ICS but hate it. Can I flash to stock GB via Odin? What about the baseband versions etc.., would it matter?
Sorry, I read another thread but it's unclear and I want to avoid bricking. Thanks
As far as what I've read you can flash stock from Odin or even use CWM to a previous nandroid of gingerbread.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
If you got your Note from AT&T, simply flash this stock ODIN:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1506330
I went from ICS back to Gb cause I missed the tethering and it was easy. Just make sure you clear the caches and all should be well.
Thanks.. I was worried of the different baseband would have any adverse effect, but it doesn't sound like it will. I'll give it a try.
I Odin'd back to stock and I'm in a world of ****. My phone cant do anything, it just gets stuck on every swipe and reboots about every 5 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas?
Mines fine..only baseband is different, phone works.
Before I Odin to stock, I booted into recovery, factory reset and wiped cache. Odin, then booted into recovery and performed another factory reset and wiped cache again.

You get it figured out? I did the same thing. . My old apps still there. I can tell it is gingerbread, but nothing works now. I hope you got your figured out!!
When I boot into recovery I get the screen that tells me to use the up and down keys and when I choose factory wipe, and press power button, nothing happebs. If I hold it down eventually the phone shuts off. When i restart it, nothing changed.

I had to revert from ICS to GB yesterday and, even tho I am on Telus, I had success by flashing the pda-odin-att-stock.rar image
I can't post links .. I'm too new. But literally.. google what's bolded above and you will find the hotfile link.
It replaced everything (including the recovery) ... FULL system image. Solved everything and brought me back to 100% stock.
So yes, I lost my root and my CWM recovery software.. but it got my phone working again.. I can reflash CWM and re-root as I need.
After the install, wipe cache, factory reset etc.
I too flashed the stock ATT rom but like the previous poster, it gave me a phone which started up but wouldn't work. When I tried to get into recovery mode, it went to a screen with the recovery mode stuff at the top, but with a yellow warning sign in the middle and some words about manual mode, and it would not let me do a wipe or reset.
Here is what I just did that did work.
I flashed the recovery-i717-cwm-b4.tar file with odin. This worked and allowed me to get into the "proper" recovery mode to do a wipe and factory reset, as well as a cache wipe. I then reflashed tieh the stock ATT rom, and my phone now is back to stock.

Just rooted, attempted to install cyan 9, tablet is stuck on loading screen. Tried to flash a few stock roms via Odin, they all seem to fail. As did my attempts to throw Ubuntu on there.
I didn't backup anything outside of individual files via Titanium. Why? Because I'm an idiot. And because I found out I was supposed to do that after screwing it up.
So, am I completely done? Any possibilities of salvaging my tablet?
Thanks.

Have you tried to wipe Data, Cache, and Dalvik then reflash stock with ODIN.
*EDIT* Also, try flashing stock recovery and then factory reset.
..
Ok, thanks. I'll look into how to do all of that. Maybe I just needed to clear Dalvik, etc. prior to flashing stock rom? We'll see.
..
Update: My tablet won't actually shut off, just reboots, either into cyanmod load screen or Odin, if I choose to. I can't go into recovery to reset or clear cache, etc.
Given that I don't seem to be able to do that, and stock roms are failing to flash via Odin, I'm assuming this is the end for this tablet, no?

Are you flashing ROMs for the Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Tab 2? The P5113 is a Tab 2 (which means this thread belongs here). Is it possible you are flashing the wrong ROMs?
Any Luck?

Ok well its looks like I a without a phone of course tech support on the phone sends me to the store. Store tech support cant do anything. Since the phone is over 30 day old they will give me a refurbished phone. But that's a problem there are none so they tell me to call Samsung??
So now I a on the phone with sprint but looks like in the end I a pounding sand. Without a mj4.tar to push with odin I have a brick!!!
QUOTE=claude9039u;47170179]I was on JB rom and updated to the last beta test rom and the following happened.
I installed 2.0.0 Beta on phone not storage card. I then made a back up before I flashed the rom then wiped cache, dalvic cache and system three times. I then installed rom, it booted up to my unlock pattern screen.
Now here is the problem every time I put in my unlock pattern the phone goes black comes back on to the unlock pattern screen again? I must have put in my unlock pattern 10 times and 10 times it goes black and starts up in the unlock screen. This does not appear to be a reboot more like a small shut down? I pulled battery same thing, I reinstalled 2.0.0 Beta, same thing.
So I restored my backup and the phone now goes to the boot up Samsung screen and tone, then goes to unlock pattern for a few seconds and back to Samsung boot up screen? Pulled the battery twice and same thing happened will not go pass the boot up Samsung screen and tone.
So I then go to recovery wipe everything Cache, dalvic, data and system. Restore the back up again and the phone does the same thing goes to the boot up Samsung screen and tone, then goes to unlock pattern for a few seconds and back to Samsung boot up screen? Keep just doing this pattern?
I then tried to restore to stock using ODIN and installed N900PVPUBMI5_N900PSPTBMI5_N900PVPUBMI5_HOME.tar.m d5 from JB's file and I get a fail each time?
I then downloaded KERNEL-SPR-N900PVPUBMI3-1378528567.tar and it installed passed but now I am stuck in the Samsung screen?
JB responded for me to do:
Originally Posted by JoshBeach View Post

Try wiping data, system, cache and dalvic cache. then flash either official jellybomb ver. 1 or stock mj4 rom by freeza.
You cant go backwards from mj4 to older firmware... I dont believe...
So I did:
Since I installed KERNEL-SPR-N900PVPUBMI5-1379320673.tar I have a stock recovery so I ODIN'ed CF-Auto_root and then openrecovery-twrp. This gave me TWRP 2.6.3.7 and from there I wiped data, system cashe and dalvic cache. I then rerooted. TWRP told me I had no OS installed are you sure I said yes. TWRP then says your device does not appear to be rooted?? I then go back into TWRP and flash JB ver 1.0.0. It says install busybpx install kernel done updateing partition details... E: unable to mount '/usbstorage"
Successful so I then reboot system.
I get samsung screen and song that goes black and I get samsung note 3 screen and music. Screen goes black and it keeps on repeating itself?
JB came back and said
Ok. Lots of errors to your process there.. no need to do some of the steps.
So do this... if u have working twrp.
Factory reset in twrp.
Then install mj4 stock rom. And let it boot
I then did as he said
It appears that I have a working twrp so I down loaded SM-N900p_HLTESPR-MJ4-Odes-v2 from freeza. I went to twrp did a factory reset and flashed SM-N900p_HLTESPR-MJ4-Odes-v2
While flashing I did notice that it did not find MD5 file. In the end it says that it was a successful install. It rebooted did its thing, got to andriod upgrading and rebooted. Samsung screen song and got a process system isn't responding and it rebooted again doing the same thing?
And now I am in Samsung boot up screen get process system isn't responding and the phone keeps rebooting doing the same.[/QUOTE]
It looks that without a mj4.tar file to use odin my phone is dead
In twrp wipe everything then format data. You will have to type in "yes" to do this. Then flash freeza mj4. If this doesn't work then wipe and format data restore a nandroid factory reset then flash freeza rom. After flashing rom wipe all and format data again. Then reboot. Let us know if it works.

I also soft bricked my Note 3 over the weekend. Not because of Jellybomb Rom. I flashed an old MI5 file on accident after already being on MJ4. I kept getting stuck at sprint logo. Wipe everything. I mean everything. Then ODIN .tar file posted here on XDA. Phone has been working perfect since then.
It wouldn't work thru TWRP. Once I did it thru ODIN worked perfect. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2472664

In either of the above cases the phone boots up goes to the android update screen reboots then does a cycle of reboots showing Samsung screen and music then reboot?

Samsung Kies HAS to work. If it doesn't than your phone is broken.
You might try to mount your sd card in twrp and copy as many files as you can before the wipe (assuming you have anything left) (after everything else you've tried it's not likely you have any data worth saving)
Its been a nightmare but I called Samsung direct and they got the phone working???? How I have no idea they had me doing things that that I could not write down fast!!! But the bottom line is that I am on Mj4 and the phone is working??

Hello, I am having issues with TWRP recovery. I have been running mean rom since I got the phone when it was new. I have been thinking of trying a new rom and wanted to update TWRP. I mad a nandroid back up with TWRP, also backed up my apps with Titanium, no issues with either. Now the fun begins, I used goomanager to updated TWRP to 2.6.1 and now when i boot into recovery nothing happens, the phone gets the splash screen with the white bar on the upper right then instead of opening recovery it reboots to the phone.
I cannot get into recovery, I have tried battery disconnect, rebooting multiple times using bootloader to reset to fasctory and nothing happened. It didnt even reset factory defaults. The phone works, everything works jut cant get into recovery. any ideas?
thanks
You're saying you can boot into Android but not to recovery, right? Have you tried pushing the recovery to the phone via fastboot? If that doesn't work, sounds like you need to RUU and re-root.
