[Q] S3 I9305 change baseband to AWS 1700? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there is a way to flash change the modem for my S3 I9305 (international unlocked) so that it works with Wind mobile which uses the 1700 band?
Is there a custom ROM for this, or a modem rom I can flash to make this happen?

Hey Max,
what model do you have?
i9300-international
or the i9305 ?
Anyways both models doesn't and will not support the 1700 band as it's a hardware and not software.
sorry mate..

I thought the modems were just software controlled for the bands?

The modem can affect your signal, but only as long as your device has the required hardware.
I mean, you can't control the TV from your S3 as you don't have the IR like the S4 does

[Q] Change HSDPA Band

Hi, I have got an Auszralian Version (Telstra) of the Galaxy Ace S5830t. This Version supports 850/2100mhz Hsdpa Bands.
However I've been wondering if it is possible to change the Bands using different Modem Firmwares to support 900mhz.
I have already tried the debugging Menu and reading through the existing Post points towards Problems when using undesignated firmwares.
I'm currently running a official android 2.3.5. My current believe points towards the Bands being hardcoded in the Modem and that I might have to buy a different phone
Any help would be awesome.

[Q] S2 SHV-E110S 4G - Baseband & Qualcomm Firmware

Hi there,
My first post on this forum, and as there is no place here dedicated to SHV-E110S (4G) model, I post my questions here.
My question is about baseband on this smartphone, drived by qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 SoC.
Detailed specifications show that it is 4G compliant on the LTE 800, LTE 1800, LTE 2600 bandwitdh. But it seems it only works on 800 Mhz bandwidth, and I would like to know if someone could help me about the way to update or flash this APQ8060 SoC.
My theory is that the current qualcomm firmware doesn't allow to use 2.6 Ghz bandwidth as this smartphone is designed for korean market, and Korea use 800 Mzh LTE bandwidth.
So I am for some advices to upgrade the firmware or finding a way to use this smartphone on 2.6 Ghz LTE bandwidth.
I guess the baseband firmware is corresponding to the PHONE part in Odin software, am I right ?
I am also looking for the stock ROM for this SHV-E110S, which seems hard to find
Thanks for providing me informations about that if you can !
I think better to see in other thread. Because here is discussed international variant of Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100, that is completelly different with yours model.
Better to see in AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket threads, because its specifications close to yours.

SHV-E110S
Can we use the firmware of different galaxy s2 models if the specifications are same? In different countries they have different names of model... but when we check the spec it looks same.
You can use another rom if the specs are EXACTLY the same. But I wouldn't risk it on any high end phone.
SHV-E110S
Can anybody point out which rom will suite for Samsung galaxy s2 lte (SHV-E110S) korean version ?... the spec looks same with Samsung Galaxy S II LTE (Rogers) SGH-I727R and Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727. Thanks

Here is the link for latest firmware for SHV-E110S which is rooted.

Thank you guys for your replies.
Unfortunately this smartphone is now hard-bricked since several days, after having tried to update phone firmware with another one originally designed for SC-03D, which though have the same hardware.
Maybe I will try to call a JTAC service to know if they can do something for it.
But I am still very disappointed with the specifications for LTE bands on the E110S... really seems like the 4G/LTE B7 band (2.6Ghz) does not work on the device.
I now use a GT-i9210, and it works without problem on 2.6Ghz network. The hardware modem part is (in constructor specifications) the same as E110S & SC-03D...
I had to translate a lot a chinese & korean forums to get informations about this model, and finally find some firmware but none of them lead me to get it working on 2.6Gz LTE network.
I had no problem with rooting the phone, however thank you for the rooted firmware link !

just all the blablabla.zip.001 --- blablabla.zip.077 files in one folder in your PC.
Click with right button of your mous on blablabla.zip.001 and click extract it with archivator (win-rar, win-zip, 7-zip)
I do not se this file, but i assume that inside file for Odin.
If file name ends with *.tar or *.tar.md5 - it's for odin

[Q] How to flash the modem of a T589?

I want to turn a Fido/Rogers T589R Galaxy Q (Canadian version of the Samsung T589 Gravity Smart) into a AWS device so I could switch to either Wind Mobility or Mobilicity. To be exact, I just want to flash the radio file (I think the PHONE field in Odin).
I found a link to T589W's firmware. The T589W is the true Canadian version of the T589, i.e. HSDPA 1700/2100, whereas the T589R is HSDPA 850/1900. I know the file amss controls the radio frequencies, but I have also read that this can't be done since the T589 is built with hardware that uses different radio frequency and as such, flashing the T589R with a T589/T589W firmware will do nothing. Is this true? Thanks in advance!

[Q] ROM swap

hi guys, thanks for all the info, by far the best android site on the web.
I am looking to do a rom swap on a gti8552 currently running android 4.1.2 baseband i8552ddamgi kernel 3.4.0-1293443 build j2054k.18552xxamgi.
the problem is the current rom is pcs1900 only, so no 3g, just edge speeds. i am looking to install a rom that will make the phone a true quad-band capable of 4g. does anyone know if the hardware is the same across all 8552 phones, and if the trinidad region rom is quad band?

that is impossible, the QUALCOMM 3G CDMA doesn't support 4G connection. :crying:

My S5 is the SM-G900T Variant, but it's not T-Mobile.

Can anyuone tell me why my FACTORY UNLOCKED Galaxy S5 has the same model # as the T-Mobile Variant?
What do you mean it's not T-Mobile?
What does it say under Settings -> About device ? What is the Model number

If it's factory unlocked, you can use it on most gsm carriers. The T-Mobile variant supports the 1700 and 2100 bands, which at&t does not. If you have the T-Mobile version, you're in a good situation.

It's not the T-Mobile Variant. I'm trying to determine which ROMs I should download, and use on my phone. I'm ot trying to download anything that's gonna brick it. My phone has absolutely nothing from T-Mobile installed, no T-Mobile Carrier branding or nothing.
