ok so my phone first of all is the virgin mobile version. i have rooted it. i installed a custom rom. i have hboot ver. 1.58 htc sense 3.6.
Problem: i installed two apps recently which was pimp my rom beta, and pimp my rom alpha. i was tweeking the things on the app and it said to reboot, i did. Everything booted up normally but when it goes to my lock screen i have a black screen and the only thing i can see is my notification bar. in my notification bar, the battery icon is grey with a exclamation mark and the reception bars have an x. that is all i see and cannot do anything after. i took out the battery several times and reboot it, same results. however i know it's not bricked because i can still get into recovery with 4ext. any help? i added a picture i took, sorry low quality

Yup!! After trying so many things i did that and it worked thanks pimp my rom sucks on this device, or maybe its my rom idk the point is i fixed it :laugh:
hey guys, i have the same problem ive tried factory resetting and nothing works.. i can only connect the phone to my computer thru fastboot usb.. what can i do to fix my phone.. any help would be much appreciated thanks.. i have hboot 1.53.0007 if that helps..

You revived a very old thread. Please explain when and what happened to your phone. Also, are you rooted and if yes, what ROM are you running?

ok so i unlocked my bootloader using htcdev.com, then rooted the phone.. i installed titanium back up and a cleaning app.. i uninstalled some blot apps and reset my phone.. after it booted up i got the same thing as the OP had.. i tried factory reset and nothing worked.. so i left the phone for a while (like a week)..
so right now i managed to install clockworldmod recovery v5.0.2.0.. and thats the point im up to right now.. when i reboot phone im still getting same problem...

It could very well be titanium backup caused your issue. Do you have a nandroid backup?

It should. First thing you need to do is flash a different recovery. CWM is not too good. 4ext is recomended for your phone. Since you're s-on after you flash recovery you need to enable smartflash so you can fash a ROM with custom kernel

If you're going to flash a custom ROM then no because all custom ROMs have super user preinstalled.

Download a ROM and put it on your sd card. I recomed Cool ICS. It's stock looking, fully functional and great performance

i cant get the 4ext recovery to work. i flashed the 4ext recovery img to the phone and it says it worked in the command prompt, but when i got to recovery on the phone it sits on the white htc screen for about 10 secs then just boots up... without going to recovery..

Did you wipe all the way? Also what is your software 2.17 or 2.08 ? Did you fastboot boot recovery.img when you flashed?

You need to flash boot.img/kernel using fastboot or Flash image GUI or else you will face issues if the ROM uses kernel other than your current one.
This is the limitation of HTC unlock method (S-ON)

Thank you!
I flashed the boot.img using fastboot as you suggested. Now the phone is stuck in an endless loop between powering off and the HTC startup logo.
It appears that I am getting closer to fixing the problem but I am still stuck. Can you help further please?

I did wipe all the way. How do I tell whether I have 2.08 or 2.17. if the phone not able to start up?
I flashed boot.img using fastboot. I just realized that the bootloader when doing and Hboot tries to load the image indicates no image or wrong image.
I am either missing a step or did something wrong.

did you make a backup of Infected before you flashed?
When you say you installed Warm did you install and actually get it fully booted and set up your home screens and all that and it only stuck on the first reboot after? or was it right after you flashed warm?
Really if you made a backup of infected or what you were running before you should be able to restore that via recovery then boot up normal. Then use FlashImageGUI to flash the kernel needed for Warm, then reboot into recovery mode and flash the other portion of the Rom from the custom recovery.
Unfortunately, I did not back up Infected or other previous roms. I didn't know that I should, I only backed up my apps using Titanium. I now know better.
Still stuck in loop mode. I have been searching the forums for some possible solutions but so far nothing has worked.
I am up the creek without a paddle...

na TiBackup isn't the same as backing up the Rom itself.
Full backups are done from within the custom recovery...
the boot.img you pushed via fastboot earlier. where did you get it from?
Silly me... I realized that Titanium backup was not the correct backup after I posted.
I took the image from the Warm zip file. I initially thought the problem was fixed until I realized that the phone is in an endless loop...

well to be honest I would just go back and start form scratch at this point since pushing the kernel via fastboot somehow didn't take for you nor did clearing cache's after the fact.
after pushing the kernel via fastboot, have you tried doing that again, and then going into recovery and flashing the rom again? If that doesn't work you might as well just go back to stock and push stock kernel flash stock rooted OTA, boot up, and use FlashImageGUI to push the Warm kernel then go back to flashing the Warm rom in recovery...
really before pushing the stock kernel if you wanna test to see if your initial push of Warm kernel even took fully just fully wipe data and try flashing infected again in recovery. If it boots fine then you know your fastboot push didn't take before to begin with...

before i even really get more into this. does Warm even use another kernel beside the stock one? If they dont then all of this could of resulted from a bad download of the rom itself being flashed...

Note: if you took/installed the latest update (2.17.651.5) you won't be able to use roms based off earlier firmware/kernels (ie 2.08.651.2 or 651.3) b/c of kernel differences (I think I've read that somewhere).
I believe Warmtwopointthree and Infected are not using the latest base/kernel.
Edit: saw you posted right before me. So what kernel/boot.img did you use?

Nice good to hear. Fact you had your phone even semi-booting makes solving anything wrong with it usually trial and error and ends up not being so bad to fix...
I used boot.img from OTXE Titan HD ODEXed New Beats!
I need to educate myself a bit more about the differences between kernel and .imgs etc...

I'm having a very similar issue, I rooted my Evo using Revolutionary and installed CW Recovery and everything was fine so I tried installing ZR3D and part way through the install, my phone turned off and now it wont get past the HTC boot screen. I went into CW Recovery but nothing is working, no matter what option I choose [even Turn off phone or reboot] it gives me the CW logo but nothing happens.
I have HBOOT 1.49.1107 with S-Off
Try reflashing your recovery threw hboot.

Can you boot into Fast boot? If so, try connecting your phone to a computer and flashing a recovery through there. Then try to install the ROM.

So i have an HTC Amaze 4G, T mobile. I rooted it using Hasoon2000's all in one kit to do the rooting and all. Once i did that i didn't flash any roms. An old problem arose with the phone with the contacts app always force closing, didn't mind it. So what i did then was want beats audio so i installed the drivers. Everything was fine and dandy until one day it started to restart on its own, and then the weather app would force close. Until when it restarted one time, all i got was a blank black screen, with just the status bar at the top. I couldn't bring down the quick settings or even the side buttons would not work, all i could do was just turn off the screen. So if somebody can tell me what i did, what happened, and maybe a link or explanation of how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Did you flash the sense 4 version or sense 3.6 version of bt audio

your talking bout the beats audio app in playstore? which required rooted device?? happen to me also :/ go to the bootloader (do a battery pull then press power button + volume down button) and do a factory reset it should be okay then if you have a recovery take a backup of your sd card from pc it'll wipe of everything!

Im not sure, but Im positive it was because when it installed and i restarted my phone there was a huge difference in sound quality. So it must have been the 3.6 Sense version.

I have tried a factory reset already,When i do that i still get the same problem, just the top status bar shows and everything is just black. I have TeamWinRecovery tried the factory reset already and it says failed, so im going to try clock work mod. Also im trying to flash a new ROm to see if that will fix it, but Teamwin nor Clockwork recognize the zip file in my sd card. Ive renamed it multiple times to see if it will recognize it then.

i'd recommend 4ext try a factory rest from that if the problem still exist go to wipe format section and select format everything except sd card and flash a stock gb rom everything will be okay by then if your S ON enable smart flash on 4ext which is under tools category in the very bottom

Ok how do i get to ext4 and im using clockwork mod recovery now, i tried a factory reset again, didnt work, i tried to format everything except the sd card, and i still cant even get the recovery to recognize a zip on the sd card. Im just at the point of just getting another phone and forgetting the phone. Want to buy for parts?

Okay since your tmobile download a GB ruu and run it from bootloader if it fail relock the bootloader and flash it once your done unlock tje bootloader and flash 4ext

Ok it laoded the zip fine, but when i go into 4ext still, it wasy unable to mount sdcard and when i go to mount it it says unable to mount internal, why does it say internal?

Hi i tried to flash a rom on it and prior to the flashing i was just trying to root it i used the htc amaze all in one tool and unlocked the bootloader but then somehow i deleted everything off the phone from the recovery and since then it went into bootloop and was stuck on the logo i downloaded RUU FOR WIND MOBILE and it did not work it says image is unable to write...
then i downloaded a few ROMS and went into recovery to mount it and put the rom on the phone and went into recovery after and instaled and flashed the rom the ROM flashed fully but the phone has been in ANIMATION BOOTLOOP SINCE..
I have tried more then one rom all do same right now i am using the ROM-Dark-Glass-0.3-PACman and it is stuck on animation screen
I am using teamwin recovery..i tried with 4ext recovery too still no luck also i have unlocked the boot loader i am on S-ON i dont know how to do it to S OFF
I READ AROUND POSTS AND TRIED MANY THINGS AS THIS HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A WEEK SO PLEASE HELP I SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

you're S off so i guess you was on stock GB rom and you cant flash ics roms like that the firmware doesnt match so all you have to do now is flash 4ext (i dunno bout twrp recovery it worked for me in 4ext) and download GB Rom and place it on your ext sd card go to 4ext wipe format section and select '"Format all partitions except SDcard'' then flash it from 4ext also enable smart flash on before flashing, you can find that option in tools section in the very bottom it should be okay then

you already had the ics firmware before you flashed dark glass rom? or you flashed dark glass rom when you was on GB??
i had ics firmware it did an ota update to ics a few months back..IT was with WIND MOBILE which is GLOBAL LIVE STOCK ROM
But i somehow deleted like all files while doing like factory reset and clear cache and stuff..so then i rebooted and it was stuck on htc logo then i installed a rom and now its stuck on animation

well then flash the wind ics ruu then go to recovery do a full wipe then flash any ics rom you like

well since your from wind i guess it doesnt matter even tho your unlock just rename it PH85IMG.zip and place it on ext sd card and run it from bootloader if it doesn recognize it relock it and try

ok so i had to relock it to flash the stock RUU which i did using the all in one tol then i tried to boot into bootloader but it did not read the file usualy when i tried to do this before it would try and load in where it says HBOOT..but this time it did not..
so i tried using the Hanson tool and flashed the RUU it loads to the screen where the htc sign is grey then on the command promt it says this (bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 75.297s
C:\Amaze_All-In-One_Kit_V5.1\data>

Well I assume you still have 4ext if not flash it then format everything except sd card after that t mobile latest ota by sportsstar89 download it place it in your sd card then flash it through 4ext enable smart flash any problem hit me up from gmail

Hi guys,
I have a similar problem regarding rebooting.
I did: Unlock Bootloader, Recovery, Root and S-OFF... so far so good.
After installing a ROM (I tried Cyanogen and MIUI), my device restarts after I touch a screen. It's good I've made a backup, but how do I solve the issue?

i have done the wipe all partitions except sd card as wel...no luck...remains on the boot image for hours!

Try a ruu and go from there it mite help take a back up of your Internet sd before doing it you'll lost all the data

Since your s off you can use any ruu but I recommend t mobile ruu and name it PH85IMG.zip and run it from bootloader

i downloaded an app called font installer on my HTC EVO 3D and it totally bricked my phone , it keeps restarting after the loading "HTC" screen
anyways its been 3 weeks and i still dont know what should i do with my phone , i went through alot of forums and they said i should download RUU and i was like " yes ! finally my phone will get fixed " then i went to shipped roms dot com
then i found a list full of RUUs for HTC Shooter (evo 3d), i really dont know which one should i use to fix my phone , could you guys help me pick the right one ??

It's not bricked, it' s in a bootloop. There is a huge difference between bricked and bootloop.
Now - are you S-on or S-off? What H-boot are you on? Did you backup your ROM before you messed around with your phone? Do you even have a custom ROM?
You could try reflashing ROM, it helped me when Font installer bootlooped my phone

Try sense ROM but wipe everything except sd card in recovery before flashing.

Mwakious , Cool ICS and Yoda ICS are among the top sense roms for evo 3d. you should try them out

you need to unlock bootloader and flash a recovery. check in the cdma section for 4EXT recovery. you need to have drivers installed for htc. try these
Okay, I got my Evo 3D with 4.0.4 ICS and HBOOT 1.58.....I Downgraded the HBOOT to 1.40 and have S-OFF....Now i'm in a bootloop....I can't get to the OS and when I try to install a Recovery (it has 4EXT on it but I want TWRP so I can install a different ROM....I CURRENTLY have Negalite BluRom but it bootloops at the 3D splash screen)....I can't do the Fastboot Flash UnlockToken b/c it errors out, I can't flash Recovery b/c it says FAIL....

Can you flash boot.img from fastboot? If you can flash the boot.img from Negalite zip. Can you enter 4ext recovery? Try reinstalling the drivers.

I have no clue how I got it to work....I just kept playing around with stuff in Recovery....wiped cache a few times, wiped Dalvik Cache and rebooted....even then it kept bootlooping, i did it again...even re-installed the ROM, wiped Cache, etc....it FINALLY worked.....pretty much EVERY ROM i have tried so far works.....trying to find one "just right"....thats the joys of Android though

I believe it was Negalite BluRom that was causing the issue....but its not happened since then.......its the one with the HTC Evo 3D boot screen in 3D

installed successfully but after rebooting my device, it sucked at htc logo, i tried different kernel (mirage
& howpathetic) via aroma modifications but no use, perhaps device is having bootloop.
my device details are
htc evo 3d x515m, GSM, fingerprint asia/india
shooter_u, hboot 1.53.0007, radio 11.25.3504.06_M, OpenDSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202, unlocked & rooted but s-on
(as this rom is s-on compatible, so i didn't try of s-off it)
if anybody knows, how to install this rom, kindly help.

What recovery are you using? Download this and flash it from fastboot. Enable 4ext smartflash and reflash the rom. If it doesn't boot again extract the rom and flash the boot.img from fastboot. If you have any question quote me to get notified.

Install a stock 4.0.3 (sense/aosp themed etc) with smartflash on at 4ext recovery and your phone will boot normal.

Thanks...but is it too much to ask how I can go about doing all of this? I'm kinda klutz with this that's why I ended up bricking my phone btw don't I need 4ext to be already on the phone? All I have now is the clockwise or whatever it was thing on it. P.S: the original O.S isn't on the phone anymore cuz I went into something and it was removed

Did you unlock the bootloader on HTC dev? Did you install any custom recovery? How did you install PACMAN rom?

I did unlock the bootloader and I had installed 4ext recovery. During the process, PACMAN just kept rebooting the phone and I got so frustrated. I followed some other trend to rectify it, but I ended up taking off 4ext and the original O.S from the phone

So you have to reflash the 4ext and download a rom. You can find Here the 4ext recovery. Flash it through fastboot and after that you can enter 4ext and flash any ics sense-based rom and your phone will boot.

Well I got the ruu for my phone but now my computer has my phone as unspecified android 1.0. I think I'll just give up on trying to fix this phone:crying:

I can't install either of them cause my computer doesn't read the phone. I have CWM still on the and that's the only time I can actually mount the phone via USB to gain access to the SD card

I have Windows 7 and I can boot the phone on bootloader
