[Q] latest jb play store freezing/not downloading apps - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently been flashing many jelly bean roms and experienced issues when updating or downloading apps. Downloads a bit then stops. I have to keep cancelling downloads and re downloading. I think Google need to fix this with another gapps update. Currently it takes me 8 hours to download 5 apps.

Hello,
Try to wipe data from Google Play Store with titanium backup. And then reboot.
If that doesn't work, try also wiping data (with titanium backup) from google frame work (unsure bout the english name) and reboot ofcourse.
Cheers

Every "uninstall app" on the Market starts Avast when i try to uninstall an app!
Hi everyone, I have a problem, recently i rooted and s-off my Evo 3D GSM, leaving it on stock original ICS rom (4.0.3; Sense 3.6) because i don't like custom made roms.
The thing is, when i use any of the uninstall apps out there on the Market (Uninstaller, Easy Uninstaller), and i mark an app to uninstall and hit Uninstall button, Avast pops out and asks for PIN... (I use Avast and its AntiTheft features, big fan). Then i get a message " Package installer has stopped unexpectedly. Whould you like to tell HTC?" Then the "system" asks for root permissions, which i granted (system; root(0); app UID 1000; command /system/bin/sh - info from Superuser app ), but still i have to hit once again the uninstaller, and then i am on the Confirm/Cancel screen... and everything is ok then.
What can that be? Why is a simple uninstaller calling Avast and asking for root permissions? What should I do to fix this?

Why would you use an app installer app? That's the answer.
---------- Post added at 01:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:28 PM ----------
My logic is this: You want to remove a system app. And it's logical it requires "system root permissions" to do that. That's why it asks for permissions.
---------- Post added at 01:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 PM ----------
If that's not the case go to system settings - apps and remove it from there
---------- Post added at 01:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:32 PM ----------
Or disable Avast.
---------- Post added at 01:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 PM ----------
If it didn't help it's most likely a bad uninstaller app.
---------- Post added at 01:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:36 PM ----------
Oh, and it would help if you tell us what app you are trying to remove.
---------- Post added at 01:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 PM ----------
And the answer to why it calls avast is that it's most likely configured to monitor your phones activity and block access to unauthorized people from installing or removing any of your apps. So i'd start with checking out avast settings.

I am using the uninstaller app because it is a lot faster to uninstall something, otherwise i have to go to Settings/Apps/ and open app properties and than uninstall
No, I am not trying to remove a system app, only if Agent Dash game has became a system app somehow
The problem was that my avast has been configured to prevent any app uninstall in its settings, and i was dumb not to read detailed description of its "Uninstall protection" option - i logically assumed that it protects uninstillation of Avast itself, not every app out there
This one was my bad guys MrJyrks, thank You a lot for this reply, your last advice helped me out greatly

My problem:
I press on google maps. than it opens and I can use it normally and fluently. but when I open my keyboard to enter a route or something, the app crashes and I have to restart the app around 6 times till I can enter a route into google maps without crashing.
another problem is that I can not go back to google maps from homescreen while google maps is running in the background. than the application is crashing , too.
any tips? is the keyboard my problem or is it google maps itself?

I second this problem with my Xperia P, every time without fail (for want of a better phrase). Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated! For now, I've down-graded back to the old Google Maps with its separate Nav app, but will keep trying to see if there is a bug fix.

It is because you flashed the incompatible gapps. Re-flash CM9 and then flash correct gapps. This time before flashing CM9 format /system from recovery.
The right gapps for CM9 is situated here http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip.

Its a bug with the modified Settings.apk and newer versions of Xposed. Flash Xposed v82.
Thanks!
In the meantime v84 appeaeed so i tried and it worked.
Many thankyou!!
Unfortunately, in version 1.9, applications such as e-bay and exposed still not work together. :crying:
I'm having this problems with xposed v85, settings always force close. Any ideas/fixes?
EDIT: Using Eragon 2.0 just flashed after factory reset.
---------- Post added at 01:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:17 AM ----------
I tried setting SELinux enforce mode and disabling Xposed to see if I could get settings back, but neither work. But at least I can confirm that uninstalling Xposed fixes the issue.

Using Xposed framework v82, settings won't force close anymore!

Installed incorrect verson of Google Play Services on my Pixel 2

I tried to manually install 12.2.09 on my Pixel 2, but installed the x64 version instead of the arm64 version. Now I can't figure out how to fix it. Google Play Services keeps crashing. I can't uninstall/disable it (unless there's some trick to it). I can't install the correct version (just says "App not installed" when I try). Is there any way to fix this while preserving the data on my phone? No rooting, either.
I installed the 980 version from here: apkmirror. com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/google-play-services-12-2-09-release/
But it seems I actually need the 940 version.
EDIT: I'll try installing the correct apk through adb. Maybe that will have better results.
RESULT: Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_VERSION_DOWNGRADE]
uninstalled using adb then installed correct version using adb. All is good now.
Having same problem
I'm having the exact same problem, can't use a lot of functions on my phone because of this. What command did you use to uninstall google play services with adb? Every command I try needs root. Thanks!
I believe it was "adb shell pm uninstall -k com.google.android.gps"
Did you need root?
No, my phone is not rooted.
Also, did you reboot into recovery mode and then ran the adb command or you also went to "apply update with adb"?

I can't seem to uninstall google play services. Could you please give me step by step directions on how you uninstalled google play services? I'm having trouble with it and without this fix, I can barely use my phone!
