****End of Facebook specific instructions****
Uninstall FB (or app which is causing issues)
Use your folder explorer and remove everything that contains Facebook (or app which is causing issues)
****This is Facebook specific****
Go to web Facebook-Account settings-Security
Remove Active Sessions
Remove all Recognized Devices
Remove account
****End of Facebook specific instructions****
Reinstall App
****This is Facebook specific****
Go to Accounts-Add Account-Facebook

Confused on Facebook

The facebook app that comes with the phone isn't really an app, it is just friendstream, no? When I signed it, it downloaded ALL of my contacts instead of just those with a matching entry in my phone which I can do with the Facebook app. How do I change that?

can you not find the official facebook app in the market? I personally use Bloo as my FB Client and just sync my FB contacts through Settings > Accounts & Sync > Add new > Facebook
I can but want to understand what the integrated solution does
Go to the Sync option remove your facebook there and then add it again it will ask for the option if you want to sync matching contacts or all of them.

Add Facebook or Facebook for myTouch? Regular Facebook doesn't do anything when pressed. Facebook for myTouch doesn't give me the option.
Thx
Use facebook for mytouch, after doing that wait for some time and it will notify you that you havd contactd simmilar to your fb account and if you wanna sync them

Go to your contact list, click menu and view. It will let you decide which acccounts you want it to show in your contact list.
Facebook for Mytouch never syncs contacts for me, it gives me the "sync is having problems now" message. Anyone experience this?
Mine worked fine but there is an option under the contacts settings to make only contacts with phone numbers show. That is really nice.
I disabled this cause even when I select use google pic, some how a few contacts would still revert to facebook over time. Too frustrating for me.
Now that we have perma root... does anyone know if removing the facebook for mytouch app will cause any problems? I would like to pull it off and put on the market version. I plan on making a backup and trying it myself but was wondering if anyone had any insight before I try.

Facebook issues

I just got the Rezound, stock. I can't stop facebook from wanting to sync with my calender and phone book. I delete it under accounts/sync and when I check back, it is there again. I also get a "auth htc sense to acces facebook" notification alot. I don't want face book to sync with anything on my phone and I can't get it to stop. It's driving me crazy. On my incredible, just deleted facebook under accounts/sync and no issues. Also under people on the pulldown, face book is unchecked and also I stopped the sync for face book too. But all the face book stuff is present in my phone. I've also been reading there are two types of facebook, regular facebook and facebook for sense, whatever that means. Please help
did you also turn off syncing within the facebook app itself?
also, try leaving the account there in the accounts and sync settings, but click it and uncheck everything, see if that'll work. may still have to change the people and calender settings to not show FB stuff also, but may stop it.
but sounds rather wonky, may be worth clearing data/cache of the app, then uninstalling and reinstalling.
There really isn't a "Facebook and Facebook for HTC Sense." One is just the FB app, while the other is the Sense integration of FB, such as the widgets, uploads, and sycning, that don't actually require the app to be installed.

Whatsapp Autosync

Question. If I turn off autosync for Whatsapp will it stop being able to send and recieve messages?
You will be able to send and receive messages if autosync is off.

I stopped Whatsapp auto-sync but it keeps turning back on again (not immediately though). I believe it was re-enabled by Whatsapp background service.
Other than uninstalling the app, how do I disable Whatsapp auto-sync and make it stay that way?
Why would you disable it in first place?
I see no reason to becasue it only uses very little data I believe, maybe even none.
And it is very useful, because i you disable it, whatsapp won't be able to see wether your contacts have whatsapp or not.
I would just leave it enabled
Whatsapp uses about 20k a day just syncing. That's about 600k a month. This may not be much in the grand scheme of things but it's 600k more than necessary. And I don't like app's phoning home when it's not necessary.
I don't sit around adding new phone contacts every 5 minutes and I'm quite happy to manually sync when I need to (once in a blue moon). If it wasn't for gmail I'd have auto-sync turned off.
The only way I can think of doing this is to hack the apk and remove the write sync permissions... but then you'd have to do that for every update.
I've used apktool to remove the sync write permissions from whatsapp and so far it seems to be working ok; Still need to check it's effects on battery though.
If anybody wants to try this you can find instructions and tools here.
You'll need to make 2 versions of the apk:
The first version is unchanged but is needed so that the signatures match with the second version. You should uninstall the original version completely then install the first version so that the sync entry is created for whatsapp.
For the second version you need to edit the manifest file and remove the line that gives sync write permissions. This version needs to be installed over the top of the first so that the sync entry for whatsapp is already created. You can do this through adb with the command 'adb install -r yourwhatsapp.apk'.

After much monitoring of my good old Galaxy S GT-I9000 on 2.3.6 XXJW4 and its countless freezes and auto reboots I realised the culprit seemed to be WhatsApp auto syncing address book to its servers.
I reached this conclusion after (i) freezing WhatsApp and seeing the problem disappear and (ii) not freezing WhatsApp but deleting full address book and the problem seemingly disappearing as well.
I 'only' have 2,700 contacts and I uploaded them onto the phone via Google Sync, importing the Outlook file into the Gmail account (and using it to deduplicate contacts etc).
I have tried both deleting the WhatsApp autosync account from the Account list on the phone and also manually disabling WA autosync but (i) the account will pop back up every time after some minutes, autosync enabled and all and (ii) autosync will turn itself back on automatically as well.
I have indeed disabled 'show hidden contacts' in WA settings to no avail (if purposefully enabling it, the Account and / or autosync seemed to come back instantly, together with the 'syncing' notification on the status bar).
I am simultaneously using Telegram and BBM as well as Facebook messaging and Twitter and it is only WhatsApp wreaking havoc with my phone.
I would be very interested to know if anyone else has experienced the same issue?
Cheers

I'm also experiencing the same problem. Auto sync always turns itself back on. I hate it when apps don't obey my command.
The main reason why I don't want autosync is because Android is powerless against so-called 'read only contacts' it can only offer to hide them instead of deleting them.
If I decide to delete a contact which happens to also be tied to whatsapp, Android can only hide the contact (and I don't want that).
I recently got to know an app called whatsapp+ but I don't know if it solves this problem.

Can't disable Google+ sync

I'm trying to keep Google+ functionality, and manually sync it with Synker and Tasker and it's not working. Nexus 5 on 4.4.4 here.
Inside Settings->Accounts->Google->[email protected] there are options to disable individual apps. I'm interested in:
Google+
Google+ Photos
Google+ Uploads
As long as I'm logged into the Google+ app, I can't disable those sync options. If I disable them, they just re-enable within a few minutes.
If I log out of the Google+ app and the Photos app, the option to disable those sync features disappear completely. When I open the app again, Google+ logs me in and the options reappear, automatically enabled.
Is there any way to actually keep Google+ around without having it automatically sync all the time?
FYI, I also have Auto Backup disabled in G+ Photos, so it's not that either.

Use the mobile site instead? There's so many people with issues with G+ that I never have any interest in keeping the app.

Google Cloud Messaging

Hi,
is it completely safe to greenify apps with the cloud icon? According to the documentation GCM-supported apps can be waken up even greenified, but I encounter problems with some of these break functionality
Pushbullet - tho greenified it can still accept pushes it loses notification mirroring and moreover uncouples from Google's account spontaneously. Accounts sync entry is lost as well
Viber - Accounts sync entry lost over OS restarts
Telegram - ditto.
Whatsapp - ditto.
Any other issued problems with greenifying GCM-enabled apps?
?
