Went naked on my note 2 for the longest time. Well, not naked I had a samsung flip cover but I dont consider this thing any type of real protection. Anyway I decided after owning the phone for 4 months no scratches I was going to put wet screen protector on it for the heck of it. Early this morning while talking on the phone and exiting my car the inevitable happened and I dropped my phone from ear height straight onto the coarse cement of my driveway.
In a slow mo type fasion I gasped for air as my beautiful beast spread its flip cover open as if taking flight and dove screen first onto the jagged cement. I sat there in shock not wanting to pick it up and flip it over I fear of a shattered or severely beaten screen. When I grabbed the phone and looked at the screen protector it was full of welts and heavy dings everywhers but the phone was fully functional and there was no other visible damage to the device.
I hurried and peeled back the screen protector to see if it was just holding together a shattered screen but to my surprise there was not a single ding, scratch, ping, smudge, nothing. It was just as good as when I had bought the phone. Moral of the story a good acreen protector will protect far beyond just the occasional pocket scratch. In this case I believe it saved the phone from certain screen shatter or at the very least heavy scratches and dings. The flip cover on the other hand wont do anything to protect the screen outside of pocket lint scratches.
Yup. Screen protectors... Protect screens...
Lol, but seriously I never run without one, and often buy the screen protector while waiting on my phone to ship, case too. Hate running naked, no need. I use XtremeGuard full body protectors from Ebay. Just as good as zagg or others, for 1/5 the price (usually 5.99 for my N2). Good people too. Always try to run with an Otterbox when applicable, as well.

Lol ya I know the screen protector is there to protect the screen I just think alot of people thought (inclusing myself) that a good protector did nothing but keep pocket lint, keys, sand, etc from scratching the screen. But In my case it literally saved the phone from certain screen damage beyond the realm of just a few small scratches.
My next purchase is to ditch this stupid flip cover and grab a otterbox commuter case to protect the rest of the device. The drop did cause a small nearly microscopic chip right around the outside of the left chrome bezel but I can live with that. Even if I were to sell the phone it's so small I would probably have to point out the flaw for anyone to notice.
Full body protector, for only 3.99 (http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=350670223862). Great quality, he just manufactures them himself, and mails in an envelope (it's secured inside from bends and whatnot) with a screen cloth and applicator card.
Like i said, excellent quality, your just not paying for a box with five parts/doors/compartments and/or a name. The only brand I've put on my n2 (2 separate, every 6 mo I replace) and have used them on my girlfriend's and my last 2 phones as well, in combination with either an O-box or Trident case. Ultimate protection, but I prefer Defender over Commuter, however, I use an extended battery, and need the Defender really.

Screen projectors...something I've always tried to avoid.
Couple of months ago I dropped my bag onto concrete steps and the because of the way it landed, the corner of my iPad took all of the impact. Pieces of glass are still falling out
Moral of the story: don't just get a screen protector, get a case as well.

For those with screen protectors installed, how does it affect the SPen? This is my only fear of putting one on my N2,that the use of the SPen after a while would actually markup the protector and/or the protector would interfere with the SPen's functionality.

I was looking into trying those but almost all the real reviews from people in the forums was fairly negative. One called Ghost glass, something like that, was about the same and as far as I could tell those are the only 2 for the Note 2 at the moment.

Got the XO skin to cover up a scratch. Works great to cover it up and looks great. Only downside is you have to be careful how hard you press the spen or it leaves indents that they claim well eventually go away but yeah.

I've got a Best Buy plan, so mine is covered from any damage, but I might look into one of these. The Note 2 does seem a little weaker than I would prefer.
I use a TPU case on my phone. The case sticks out slightly past the screen, so the screen will never touch the ground when the phone falls. Unless there's something sticking out of the ground like a rock, etc.
The TPU material is such that it absorbs some of the impact. I've dropped my Note II twice onto concrete from about 4 to 5-feet with no damage to the phone thanks to the TPU case. If the screen were ever to break, that's what insurance would be for.
Just a note to maybe alleviate worries on the S-Pen, is that due to the way the S-Pen works, a screen protector cannot interfere with it. The Wacom digitizer emits a weak field (NFC style) which powers the pen, the pen then transmits its status back to the digitizer (again, NFC style). That's how it can detect when the pen hovers. The pen itself, not the digitizer, detects when the pen is touching the screen by feeling when there is pressure on the tip, in the same way that it detects the button.

Does the Note needs a screen protector (SP)? Personally I would say hell yeah but to each their own. At least with a screen protector, you get a scratch, you can always replace with a new protector. W/O a SP, you risk your device in getting scrathed up. Plus, with today's SP, you will likely not notice the difference. Always err on the safe side & better to be protected than not to be. Plus, resale value is higher if your phone isn't all scratched up. That extra $15-$20 for a SP goes a long ways.
I do it because I rather spend the $15 for piece of mine and extra perfection. Looks just as good, super thin, and I'm superficial about my phone

I'd say yes. I managed to scratch this "scratch resistant " Gorilla Glass very easily. Since then, I tried a few different things to remove the scratch. Guess what? It did not remove. The ONLY way I was able to remove it was to get a new phone. Since then, a SP has been on as getting new phones isn't as easy now that I'm past my 30 days.

I haven't had one on any of my gorilla glass screen phones for the last 3 years and never will.
I purchased the Spigen SGP Glas t. Premium Tempered Glass Series Screen Protector for my Note earlier this week. After applying it and playing with it for two days, I am convinced it is one of the best accessories ever for a phone. Insulation for a screen without degradation in quality. I love it. I hate to admit it, but I actually purchased one of the horribly overpriced Moshi screen protectors at the ATT store, and, even though I have applied hundreds of screen protectors on my phones over the years, this one is the absolute best one I have ever used; its super easy to apply perfectly, with a sort of "template" sheet that the protector gets shipped on, and there are almost no smudges, no screen darkening, and it fits perfectly!
Do you "need" a screen protector? No, the phone works fine without it..
should you put one on? to me, its the first thing I put on the phone before I even take the factory plastic off the phone..
And, down the road, when you go to sell your phone, or trade it in, you will get maximum return if you keep the thing looking like brand new..
I haven't had a protector on my note yet. I was thinking of maybe getting the steinheil protector because of all the issues people are having with the glass one.
So far the gorilla glass has held up just fine for me. No marks at all, I still don't even have a case on this thing
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
if I wasn't such a klutz, I would keep it case free too..
another solution is Wrapsol; which I have had on a few phones, with leaves it pretty naked, but puts a clear shield on any area that you want protected..
Would you rather have a SP and not need it or need a SP when you don't have it (like when you accidentally drop that bad boy)?

I use one of the Steinheil for two reasons, and scratches isn't one of them.
1. Anti-glare. The proper Steinheil protector is great for this.
2. Smudges/fingerprints. I find that the Steinheil doesn't attract the oils from your hands nearly as much as native Gorilla Glass.
The texture is the only thing I'd really worry about - it feels weird to some. I usually stop noticing it after 2-3 days.
On my past 3 Android phones, I haven't ever used Screen Protectors. I hate the feel and look of most of them (I know there are certain that are glass, or feel pretty much fine, but many never feel like awesome smooth glass, almost a texture sometimes), and I sometimes feel cases end up pushing up the edges, making it look like **** and needing to be replaced. Or it gets tweaked sliding it in and out of my pocket.
For good measure, WM HTC Touch Pro ended up with zero scratches on screen, lived in a case at first, then without because it was such a brick. It had a SP at first, but eventually it peeled and I said **** it. Phone felt better without (Resistive Screen with stylus). It died when I gave it to my GF for a loaner, and she dropped it and left it in a river for awhile...on the first day she had it. (my phones are in constant peril!)
The HTC Aria ended up with zero scratches and still in mint cond when I moved on to an HTC Inspire 4G. Had been dropped onto Concrete, wood, etc from at least 4 feet on occasion. Protected by HTC TPU smoked case from ATT store for entire life.
HTC Inspire 4G ended up with one very slight vertical scratch toward the far right side of the screen. I only noticed it when the screen was off, never noticed it with my finger sliding onto it, or in general use. It had a rough life, and I was happy/surprised that was the only damage it ever received. Standard drops from about 4 feet onto assorted surfaces like concrete, hardwood floors, etc. Protected by Case-Mate Tough Case from ATT store for entire life.
My GNote is still without a scratch. Has only really been dropped on carpet, and a few small drops onto hardwood floors from about 3 feet. Protected by Speck Candyshell from ATT store, then Trident Aegis (kinda **** imo), and now Cruzerlite Androidified TPU (sucked at first, broken in and a few mods with the punch from a hole puncher, now perfect).
I keep all of my phones in my front right jeans pocket with the screen against my leg, and I never leave the ATT store without a case (even if I know I'll be getting a diff case very soon). I never put anything else in my phone pocket. Also be aware if your pants have very sharp/exposed rivets above your pocket. Clean out your pockets before you wear them. Turn them inside out if you can/use packing tape or something to make sure all the possible grit/**** is gone. It's entirely possible to get sand/dirt/whatever in there, and have it remain even after washing.
When I travel by motorcycle (85% of the time), my phone goes in a ziplock bag as well, and then I put it in my backpack, or occasionally front left breast pocket of my jacket. I think if you are aware of the fact that you are carrying a $600+ device in your pocket, you can easily avoid scratches. All of the cases I use have a sufficient lip to set the phone face down, but I RARELY ever set them face down (grit/sand/etc can be so small and so easily scratch)
TL;DR-I've had great luck without a Screen Protector and prefer to run without them. Many have had the opposite and much prefer a SP for extra peace of mind. Do what you are comfortable with.
Streak & Note
Had a dell streak for about 14 months. First 3-4 months had a screen protector on it, for nothing else because I had 3 win-mobile phones that the bottom area where the stylus is used, had scratches.
When the protector starting peeling off, I just chucked it. I used a soft belt case for well over a year w/o issues. Not one scratch.
When I got the Note in mid December, I didn't even bother with one. I use a Seidio ultimate case, and have had no issues, and, I use the s-pen daily.
Unless you are rough on your device, toss it around or carry it in your pocket with change & car keys, I wouldn't put one on it.
It's scratch RESISTANT, not scratch PROOF.
I hate cases as a rule, will the naked screen with GG2 on S3 be safe to just put in an empty pocket and not get scratched? I take the back battery covers will be able to buy off eBay etc o XE released, so no problem in scratching that?
You are seriously going to just be okay with scratching a $700 investment and then just buying a new back off eBay? O if I ever damage my baby when I get it I will cry until mold grows on it. The problem with the GS2 is the part that scratched was that bit at the bottom that sticks out. However the GS3 has all one cover at the back so the only part you're gonna scratch is a piece of cheap plastic that you can replace on ebay for as much as a cheap case.
Gorilla Glass doesn't need screen protectors, everyone goes on about the screen quality and then puts a protector on it and ruins the quality right there lol. I have never gotten a scratch to my screen on modern day smart phones, just don't put your phone in with your keys....
This is what pisses me off with iPhone users...
"Samsung phones are made from cheap plastic"
Just feel like yeah but at least we can see our phones and it's cheap to replace parts on it. When you buy an iPhone if you drop it the metal dents or the glass shatters at the back because it's made from cheaper glass than the front. So you have to buy a cheap looking ugly case to cover the phone, making it bulkier and you never even get to see your phone until you sell it.
Now you get these people saying...
"GS3 has a Pentile screen it sucks"
Oh look they have a screen protector on it which makes their screen look like ****.....
Just don't put anything on the phone.
I'm thinking of going the naked route, been using my SGS1 without a case for the last year, and other than some scuffs on the back from putting it on hard surfaces and drunkenly sliding the phone when I pick it up, I have not noticed any significant scratch problems.

Yeah, my daughter still has my old N1 which has never had a screen protector on it and the screen is still just fine after some 3 years or whatever it has been. SGS2 same thing, got it when they came out, no screen protector, no scratches.
I do run cases though just to get the grippier surfaces. My own wish list for a phone would include it coming with a hard rubberized exterior that I didn't need to get a case for. Something soft enough to be grippy but hard enough that it didn't catch while going into or being pulled out of a pocket. A material like what is used on the seidio innocases.
I can see there's a for and against!
I hate cases in. general as others have said the phones are made 8.6mm etc then a case goes on and boom its a monster again!
I have tried Zagg and others but it does make the screen worse, better protected I agree though.
My iPhone 4 had a full zagg body shield on, with my XE I have a spare battery back cover so no need and a slip pouch for when its in my pocket, best of both worlds I think?
My S1 is coming up for 2 years old now and the only protection I have ever had on it is a screen cover and a pouch that I slip it in to and its still mint. I have already received my new leather pouch for the S3 and it will also come with a new screen protector from CPW
Screen protectors are overrated...depending on phone. I've had my gnex for 5 months with no protection, in pocket, dropped on floor and not a single scratch. The S3 comes with even better glass via gorilla glass 2.

It's a gamble, naturally. You do not want to be naked if you're somewhere with a lot of sand. If you plan on reselling the device, it might also be prudent to take precautions. But if it's just going to be for you, you can do whatever the hell you want.

The rear of the GS3 is all one removable cover unlike the GS2 where the part prone to scratches was part of the main structure of the phone on that part sticking out at the bottom.
So if the GS3 gets scratched it'll be on that cheap bit of plastic you can replace for a tenner.
I hate covers & cases, too!

I never use cases or screen protectors and I've never had an issue. I usually do buy some kind of pouch for the phone though, especially for when I'm at the beach, which is pretty often.
Have to agree with a couple of the above posts. I don't mind a nice sleek case with minimal protection though. I tend to take very good care of my electronics so its a rare occasion for me to drop my phone. I like the size and shape of phones nowadays and some of these cases are overkill. Especially the otter box ones.. lol, they make your phone just as big as a gameboy .
As for screen protector.. no way. Will never get one. I've tried a bunch and they ALL take away from the smooth glide of the naked screen IMO.

I'll probably get a screen protector for it at some point. I was thinking I'd go naked in the beginning... when the phone is still new I tend to really baby it and obsess over it, but later on at some point I always, without fail, either drop it on the ground or accidentally put it in a pocket together with some keys or something.
The best screen protector I've tried is Copter Screenprotector+++, I don't know if those are very widely available in a lot of different countries. I think it's a Swedish brand and I don't think they're very well known.
I've tried InvisibleShields, and I find them to be way too grippy and rubbery. The Copters are OK, sure they do add some grippiness to the screen so it does mess with the feeling of the touchscreen but it's the least grippy one I've tried.
I don't much like cases... and if the battery cover gets scratched, I bet that later on you can get those off eBay for 5 bucks a pop... On that note, I would really like a see-through battery cover! Mmmmmm.... *daydreams*

I let the Verizon salesman get me to buy their overpriced protectors (3 for $15...) I really don't like it. It's as wide as the screen, but long enough to cover the Verizon logo on top, and the softkeys on the bottom. It has cut outs for the camera and the light sensor.
What I don't like, is that despite the best efforts of the Verizon salesman (and he did try his hardest, there isn't a spec of dust under the cover) the edges don't stick. This is because the phone's glass curves to the edge. This leaves a tiny bit of the protector that isn't stuck down. Not only does this look bad, but it's also going to attract dust and pocket lint to get in there.
Furthermore, the screen protector also detracts from the aesthetics of the phone, it shows finger prints much more than the gorilla glass 2 does, and it adds a very slight color tint.
I think I'm going to remove it and just go without.
If you like Zagg then xtremeguard already has the DNA protectors available. Current sale means they are only 5 bucks a pop. I have used them before and was very pleased.
That is strange I got the Verizon screen protectors and don't have the issue ..however mine isn't edge to edge .. did he give you some type of aftermarket or does it have the droid stamp on it ..?

The Verizon protectors not covering the entire screen (not edge to edge, only the part that's illuminated) is a deal breaker for me. I'll just keep shopping around.
Also, I have nothing against Zagg. I've used Zagg on two devices and they held up great without any of the (noticeable) orange-peeling effect I've read about. My only big complaint with them is the outrageous price.

The ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Screen Protector is the best!
Are screen protectors even necessary? I owned my DROID X for 2 yrs without a screen protector and it looked as good as the day I bought it. That only had Gorilla Glass 1, it looks like Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be thinner is all, and I assume the same strength.
I am not for one going to put one on. Besides I love how silky smooth the screen is, and despise others with their sticky rough screen protectors.

Because of the curved edges the display has, I doubt there will be ones that will cover the whole thing, unless they come curved... I don't use screen protectors, but for those that do, that's most likely all you will get.
The more I use the phone, the more I'm thinking about just skipping the screen protector this time around. It seems pretty substantial on its own and the great, smooth feel is something I wouldn't want to lose (along with the clarity of the awesome screen, too).

Like I said above, I'm currently not using a protector and I have been shoving it in/pulling it out of my pockets and even dropped it on a wood floor (screen down) and no nicks or scratches...so far.

I just can't use screen protectors no matter what. Some of them have a haze foggy look to them, others feel a tad sticky, and sometimes I'll have the tiniest dust particle under the glass or just a small bubble around one of the edges. <<<---- Each, and everyone of these drive me nuts! Also the touch never feels the same, or as smooth. I don't know about most of you, but I'm very anal about my phones, and never had any glass damage, or scratches for that matter.
My final word.... GO NAKED!!!!!!

I work in construction sites a lot. And I use my flash light app a lot. I will sometimes lay my phone screen down above the ceiling. There is always metal shavings and chunks of cement up there and I do not have the smallest hint of a scratch on my screen. I have also dropped it on concrete and asphalt, still nothing.
I honestly think it is a sales gimmick.

I have a Gnex right now... went naked with that and it was a mistake. I have 2 or 3 small hairline scratches and I take pretty decent care of my phone. I dislike screen protectors but I dislike scratches even more.
i've had an old LG Xenon (text phone) i had a cheap case on it which i ended up destroying after repeated drops on concrete, I've even cracked the screen a little on the side with the case and screen protector on, but after all of that i went naked anticipating an upgrade, but i've dropped it off a 2nd story porch straight down onto concrete with screen face down and not even a scratch. I think that the screen itself will survive alot of impacts, it's the rest of the body (as well as the corner of the screen) that can't take the damage.
I'm going no screen protector, but will put a case on it once the one i want comes out. I dont believe it makes enough of a difference to counter the cons of it.
Hey people, just wanted to do my part and contribute.
Xtremeguards https://www.xtremeguard.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=droid+dna has the Droid DNA wet apply screen protector on sale for $1.50 (originally $15) with free shipping. Just enter in code "70OFF1" at checkout. I bought 3 of them. Hope this helps someone. I haven't personally had experience with xtremeguards but I've used xoskins, another wet apply option and it worked pretty well.

Was just curious to know, is anyone out there rocking their Note 2 in its birthday suit? If so, any scratches yet? I myself have had a screen protector on since day 1 of owning mine whereas my friends that also have it are all naked. Just curious to know if anyone has any serious scratches of their own.
Powered by my Note 2!
Naked.
I keep mine from things that have a high mohs rating and I stay scratch free.
Naked white with no problems. I think it's the best way to experience the phone.

I agree 100%
Another area of concern was the use of the S Pen on the screen. If that would over the course of its life span leave any surface scratches as well.

I have had a screen protector from day one but I went weeks without a case. Just put the Samsung protective cover on and it is surprisingly thin and light.

I had mine naked for a few months and did see a few tiny scratches appear so covered up. First with a Copter screen protector which sucked!! It made the screen look like ****e. Small text was impossible to read and the S-Pen marked it. I later opted for a very cheap harder plastic no-name protector which is excellent. I have plans to buy a 10 pack and change every other month or so.
The way I see it you preserve the second-hand value if the screen is scratch free. If in two years time you want to sell it for a good price you just need to invest in a new flip-cover remove the screen protector and it's almost like new.
100% all natural. No screen protector. No case. I like the feel and look without bulky protection. I allow the Gorilla Glass 2 to do its thing.
Afterall, its a phone; its going to get used, scratched and dinged. I want to enjoy the complete phone experience in the meanwhile.
Have you seen those cars that had the bra on the front? People removed them only to find out that their paint was now two-toned, and dirt and debris had etched the paint along the edge of the bra, not to mention having a red sports car with a black mask on.
I was naked on every smart phone I've had up until the Note 2. I've always gotten scratches on every other phone no matter how careful I was.
I also have a small hard case on it. I would love to run naked on that too but the smooth back is just begging to slip out of my hand. Plus the case makes it feel more solid and reduces the creeks and growns coming from the crappy plastic Samsung insists on using.

I would be concerned if a plastic pen scratched glass.
In other words, it won't.
The glass with the oleophobic coating is at least 9 mohs.
Without the coating, its still 6.5-ish.
Plastic is around 3 or 4.
No screen protector here, I adsolutely hate screen protectors. I think they ruin the clarity of the screen. But I do have one of those folio style cases so the screen still gets covered when its not in use.

I've been using the Seidio active case and like it, no screen protector. Just ordered a flygrip and will probably rock it naked with that.
Like others have said I won't use a screen protector as I trust the screen plus hate the feel and affect on clarity.
I'm using a cheap tpu case partly for peace of mind of a little protection and partly because it has a built in kickstand that isn't very intrusive and has been pretty handy to have.
I have mine naked, but the first few days of owning it the phone fell upside down on the wooden floor so now I have 2-3 large scratches on the screen from grains of sand
Same set up I run on every phone I've owned:
Verizon slim hard kickstand case, no belt clip
Cheap eBay matte screen protector
I keep my phone in my pocket so I need a slim case. Every since the T-Bolt, a kickstand is a must for me. I absolutely hate clear screen protectors since it always feels like I'm dragging my finger across the screen rather than sliding it. I ended up buying the $12 pack at Big Red since my phone arrived before my China protectors. The cheap matte ones look great, don't smudge, and make the screen silky smooth.

Screen protector I got from Verizon and an all white Androidified case from Cruzerlite. My hands are a little dry so carrying the phone naked (the phone) is slippery in my hands. The case gives me a nice grip to hold on to the phone.

Oops, sorry for the sideways photo.
My typical progression is: get a new phone. Think "I need to protect this thing" and get a case. Rock case for a week or 2 and then hate the extra bulk. Take off case and love the natural feel of the phone.
I followed suit with this phone. Had the flip case ordered before the phone was out. Got the phone and immediately popped the case on. Rocked it for 2 weeks and took it off.
However, I have actually put the case back on because I found usefulness besides the protection. With the phone's size, the case flap provides more area to maneuver it. It also prevents accidental home button presses when the phone is in my pocket.

I've been using mine Naked for about 2Weeks. No scratches yet. I also hate Screen Protectors. A TPU case would do

Have you seen any wearing, clipping, or dull of the silver/metallic side of your phone?
Yep. Kinda sucks

Just from normal use or your dropped your phone?
Had my Note 3 for two months with heaps of usage, even dropped on concrete once (no damage done), and there's no signs of damage to the silver, and it's just as shiny as the day it came out of the box.
I'm hesitant to believe that ^
I have some blemishes on the brim of the silver bezel just from applying a screen protector with a credit card (which I'm assuming scratched it)
i dropped my phone a few time, some at 5', the silver trim is pretty soft so it had a dent and 1 small chip in it. But other that that, it is surprisingly durable. Other people look at it and are surprised that I don't have a case on it
No case at all and got my Note 3 on January 10th and I have absolutely no signs of wear on the back or on the silver sides/rim area with 5-8 hours of screen time most days
dropped mine from 3 inches out of my jacket pocket on accident. HUGE gouges on corner silver area. Luckily since its soft its able to be sanded / polished. I used 1500 grit sandpaper and went to town on it. then polished with aluminium polish to refinish it . Still some deep scratches, but much better.
what about the camera area?

Mine's spotless there too, and I always lay my phone face up.

I'm definitely with you!!
So they dropped their phone on to concrete and there's 0 signs of damage or use!?!? I am NOT buying that....

I've dropped mine a total of 5 times (3 on tiles and 2 on lino) and only have a few small nicks out of the paint. Luckily each time I dropped it, it landed screen up?. Camera lens is still scratch free aswell and I won't be case-less for much longer, slim armor on it's way.
Here's a couple of shots of the chip. I was using a macro lens to get close and one thing I noticed, there was quite a few micro scratches all around the rim. Even holding the device right up close to your face you couldn't see them but under magnification they're visible.
The OP in the linked thread has also done quite a number on his note, poor guy.

I just put a skinomi skin on it.
the difference between having a thin tpu case and nothing is staggering.
you wouldn't think it'd be much, but the phone feels and handles so much better without a case.
I dropped it one and the 'skin' picked up blemishes and there's a small crack in the tempered glass protector.
The actual screen was fine.
I threw mines out the 2nd floor Window and it survived......no really yea I don't believe what he said neither

When my phone hit the concrete it hit face-up, so the back cover took all the impact. No damage aside from a small mark on the back cover, which is easily replaceable anyway. Guess I'm just lucky, haha.

Weird question to ask, but is it worth risking your new expensive phone by not giving it some basic protection like a screen protector or thin case?
I mean, I get it, the Note 3 is great naked, but there's a reason why you should wear a helmet when you ride on a motorbike.

I had my Note 2 that didn't quite make it into my pocket, and landed on the side on concrete from about 3 feet up. Cracked the screen completely. When I got my Note 3, I armored it up. First with Otterbox, then with ZeroLemon battery (worth it, IMHO, due to the increased power availability and the case for about the same price as an otterbox). I like the feel of the otterbox, but the ZeroLemon power is definitely the driving factor in what I want.
All told, I will never have an uncased smartphone again, until they can make the glass and electronics shock proof to at least 40gs. Just my opinion.
Cheers,
B.D.
No case here and still in prestine condition. I do baby my phones and make sure my pockets are clean with no key or sand. The faux leather back really helps. I understand why people use cases. I just hate using cases.

I do plan on getting a case, and I've already got a tempered glass screen protector on the way, so I don't plan to run with a naked phone forever. I just like the way it feels without a case though.

Absolutely no drops ever, always in a car holder and always in a pocket with no keys and I have 8 pieces of Chrome missing. I'm am beyond pissed about it and for those that don't see it yet, I'm sure it will start happening to you unless I just got a defective phone
