Any Way To Replace A Dock App w/o Uninstalling It? - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

When I try to remove the stock text app icon from the bottom dock on a stock T-Mobile HTC One, it only gives me the option to "Uninstall" it. I don't want to uninstall it, I just want to replace the icon with my Google Voice app.
is there a way too do that? I didn't see anything in the stickies.

i purchased an app called call custom launcher icons. it has lots of icons though repeated in diffrent colors. It has some custom drawers too. all i did was long press on the icon i wanted to change (on the app drawer) then when next pop up asking what i wanted to change i pressed icon pic. then it asked where I wanted to look for it I chose the custom launcher icons and scrolled through the icons till i found the one i wanted to use, pressed it and after a few seconds i had a custom icon on the app drawer.
I'm pretty sure I have that app as well and it doesn't work like that!!!

Did you ever figure out the answer to this? I can change icons on homescreen but not in the drawer. What am I missing? Thanks. -GEF

How to remove the stock messaging icon...

Is there anyway to remove the stock messaging icon? I use SMS Pro for texting and would like to replace it with the SMS Pro icon. Is this possible?
Hint! Press settings inside the app.

You can change the dock icons by going into the app drawer, press menu, view type, and select customizable grid. Then you can drag which ever app you want to replace the stock app. I then switch it back to alphabetical grid, but that isn't necessary

All stock apps cannot be uninstalled unless you root the phone.

Huh? I've done that and see no option to remove the stock icon, unless I am overlooking it. Could I get another hint?

Be careful ... uninstalling stock apps can have unintended consequences and issues. Its best to hide them in a folder, or ignore them.

Like your clock widget.
What's it called?

Either Apex or Nova. I use them before, but don't remember which one.
That's a feature of most launchers. I'm using go launcher and can hide them. I don't think you can do it in the TW launcher though.

I searched for this too. Using Titanium Backup you can "Freeze" the app labeled "Power" under Backup/Restore. This will get rid of the notification button, but will also remove the "Battery" list in your android settings. I just downloaded a different battery app or widget to replace it.

Unfortunately not, we will soon add more functionality to the new app drawer to make it more user friendly, but it was decided that the new layout will be the most beneficial...
i think new app draweris more beautiful

While I agree that the new app drawer is far nicer...
I think sometime in the future adding the option to scroll apps vertically or horizontally would be nice.

yep it would be a good idea to be able to choose which way to scroll
Horizontal scrolling will be implemented in the future, but when we switched to the new setup, adding in this feature will be incredibly hard.
Once we are more stable and have more resources we will definitely start working on it
Any chance to get an option for a dark app drawer? This bright white one hurts my eyes.
