You never know with them. Think of the Thunderbolt and how long it took for HTC and Verizon to put out the ICS update for it. smdh
If Sense 5 with 4.1.2 was ported to our phones, I'd imagine that it wouldn't require much more (which I know it was A LOT) work than this port, as at least with portions of the UI, are very similar.
True its crazy how sick our devs are it really helps out our phone life

I really love my EVO lte, but the fact it was left out of the upgrade list, when it's the best of the One series, is disconcerting. I've been watching how they handle the 3D upgrade, and it seems to be following the same path.
Even Samsung has figured out the importance of taking care of their flagship device.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Who said its out of the upgrade list? Relax fellas. You're getting worked up over nothing.
We'll get it in august kinda like the og evo and froyo
Unlike the one series, which are HTC's flagship, the evo lte is sprints flagship. The update may take slightly longer due to the carriers interference, but the development for the phones will most likely be in parallel. Its not HTC's gig to really announce updates for it months in advance, their Job is to support and develop for it, while sprint takes care of all PR's and announcements.
Sprint would never in a million years not update the evo lte, they're just being quiet because that's how carriers do business. Once they are close, we should hear an announcement
Been playing with Google Now for a few days now on my LTE. It works... but seems a little slow as compared to the search capabilities that came stock. It also keeps on updating me with how long it is going to get home. I guess it wants me to leave work REALLY bad. LOL!

.... What about a development version of Android 4.1?
For our developer community, we plan to make generic development ROMs of Jelly Bean available for both the HTC One X and HTC One S. As soon as the ROMs are ready, they will be posted to our HTCdev site (www.htcdev.com). We strongly recommend customers take the time to understand the limitations of the development software along with the terms and conditions on the site before downloading to their device.

Typically Sprint HTC phones have historically had larger batteries and removable media. This held true of the One X series with the EVO 4G LTE and I hope it is true of the One series.
My worry is that this will have the same problem as the 3D in regards to the camera. This looks like it could be tough to port to new ROMS which could hinder development. Love the look though.
I also don't like not being able to remove the battery. Not usually an issue but has been very handy sometimes. How does one reboot a device if it is boot looping without pulling the battery? Also want removable SD card but that isn't as big a real I don't think though again has been very useful in desperate times.

right now id take the one, but that will prolly change when the sgs4 drops.
So I don't know if anyone else is thinking about getting this phone, it has caught my interest. I went to the Sprint site to see what's going on there, and they are advertising it as coming soon. I went to check my upgrade eligibility and then looked at current phones they have. To my surprise the OG Evo is selling higher than the LTE with 2-year contract. To top it off the OG is preowned. That's crazy right?
Anyways, what's everyone think of the new HTC phone?

I have neither, and I guess they priced them differently for upgrade pricing. I checked again and it is cheaper if you sign up as a new customer. Thanks for the replies, but in my opinion, its crazy to still sell a phone that old in any condition.

Yea. Samsung phones have always felt cheaper to me. The interface is definitely nothing compared to sense. The only things that turn me away from the One, is that it doesn't have an expandable sd slot. Then again, neither does my iPod and I never run out of space on that. Then again, it is an Apple product. I'd like to know which developers are going to the One, that could also be a sway. Imagining Viper on it, I think HTC should hire some of our developers to perfect the interface.

Real question is does The One replace the Evo branding. I don't believe HTC would make Sprint or any carrier specific variant of The One. This is exactly what they are trying to get away from. They want 1 device on every carrier that they can market the crap out of(ala galaxy). What do you guys think about that? I love my EVO LTE, I think its superior to the GS3 and I love having a phone that people ask "what the heck is that" because it looks different. Is this the end of the EVO or just going to delay the EVO launch until the luster of The One is over??

Exactly Ray, I said the same thing months ago! I said unless we speak out HTC will let the phone go. Also I said HTC would be smart to release an update between now and April of next year as April (for Sprint many will get update on 1/1/14) before their contact ends so they have faith in HTC. Seems they are finally starting to listen. Now if they would put a removable battery and microSD card slot I would give them a second chance. But the battery on my EVO LTE is already starting to go (take it off the charger with no use and an hour later I'm at 90%). and it will only get worse. And the only way to fix it is to spend a lot of money to open and change. Where if I get the SGS4 or Note 3 I simply have to pickup a battery online and pop it in and it's like I have a new phone! I could deal with a 32GB phone with no microSD but I need the removable battery! You listening HTC?!

You can order a new battery for about 17 dollars shipped and it's actually pretty easy to replace yourself. But I really doubt this phone will ever get 4.3. Why would they skip 4.2 for 4.3. There is not a lot of compelling features in 4.3 vs 4.2. 4.2 now is much better than 4.3 later. HTC is just trying to save face because everyone just realized they orphaned the phone so early. Mark my words 4.3 will never come. They are just trying to make it to a time when less people will be vocal about the phone being orphaned. **** HTC for life.

Well I'll keep thinking positive for now as it was the President of htcusa himself who announced it. If the year ends without it then I'll start singing a different tune. I honestly won't ever get another HTC if we don't at least get 4.2 with Sense 5! Also skipping 4.2 for 4.3 is the normal and what everyone's doing since it's only minor changes..
