Hey guys, a few questions...
1. When I flashed the rom using the appropriate method (format system / factory reset / wipe davlik) my previous SD card data "disappears" I can't see it in astro but I do through boot loader.. What is going on? How can I access that data?
2. When I tried to install black mart, an apk file it doesn't let me press the install button. I do have the unknown source option checked. How can I fix that??
3. I restored my backup, stock rom, and everything works fine for now... Is this safe?? Can I just restore PAC-man and continue using it??

1. Its in /data/media, this is covered numerous times, its a 4.2 change. Copy your files from /data/media to /0.
2. I won't help with warez. Aside from that is it the only app this happens with?
3. Restore wipes before restoring, so its mostly fine, but I wouldn't flash PAC over a sense rom since they are all 4.1.

Have you tried any non pay valid apk files? Like even in TiBu or something? It can be anything from the play store that is free, just wondering if its a paid app issue or any app.

I figured it out..
1. The files are hidden.
2. Astro didn't see the files, even when I selected show hidden files.
I used a different app, perfectly....

This is the second time I've seen astro fail to see those files, they really need to update. I use solid and it sees all that stuff first e right off the bat, no settings needed. Its not free, though, so I try not to suggest it as it has a trial period last I checked. Es file manager should also work well.

I would give ghost commander a try. It is feature rich and root mode compatible. Just make sure to customize the toolbar...

If you were loggin before the reboot I would say you might have what caused it. Have you made any tweaks or changed any settings?

Nope, I wasn't doing any logging or anything out of the ordinary, I was just using my device - I had applied a GPS patch for TwistedUmbrella's build of ICS MR3, but this reboot didn't happen until way later.
My guess would be that the patch had an effect. Maybe try a fresh flash with a full wipe and move the contents of your sf card off and reformat it too.

AFAIK you have to be running a logcat otherwise the log is overwritten on reboot.

That is what I thought. Like I said earlier if you're logging before it reboots the error should be in the log. It would work if you were logging it from your PC at the time. Then you wouldn't lose the log from the reboot.

Quick question. The only thing I added besides the aosp gallery, htcworldclock, and a Dsp manager I flashed was htcsetup. Now I'm occasionally lose radio and get a SIM card missing in the status bar. Coincidence or screw up? Airplane mode or reboot makes it come right back. Thanks!

it worked okay, but i had the adb bug where you have to re-check usb debugging for adb to work properly.
2 suggestions:
tool should remove folders on the sd card for app and framework after completed
also, should add a check for adb devices, something along the lines of "Is something listed under devices? If yes, continue, if not, uncheck USB Debugging and re-check it"
Somehow I ended up with 287 apps installed after running this and lost 600MB of storage space after running this (I removed the two folders). So much for debloating.

Hi. I tried to put this on the development thread but I dont have the proper permission. I flashed scroslers vrall4 stock rom. All is good except when I restart or reboot I get a musical theme that I can't shut off. I found the wave file, over the horizon, and first changed the name. That did not work. I then deleted the file and that did not work. Anyone know how to eliminate this. Thanks. GA

Try system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
That should be the boot up audio.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for the reply. I know about that and changed the name of the pwr on and off files. The music starts after the samsung light show during a start or reboot. Its like the file is somewhere else other than where you would expect it. I deleted it from the ringtones folder which was the only folder I could find it. It still plays so its somewhere. Its a mystery!
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
Does that ROM, even though it's stock-ish, support custom boot animations? The boot animation might be calling a different file. Try finding the boot animation and see if it is calling a different audio file?

Okay....I'm on the hunt. Let you know
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Well. I have tried to find access to folders or files having anything to do with boot animation and struck out. I also checked titanium backup to see if there was an app that was obvious to freeze. No joy there either. Probably going to flash a different rom and see if that helps.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app
Update.... my problem has gone away however I'm not sure what I did to fix it. Downloaded the 23 toggle app from the theme and app section. Tried to flash it in twrp, which failed because it did not recognize the zip. When I rebooted the music was gone and everything is as it should be. I guess there was a loop in the bootloader that trying to flash another app somehow repaired. Noob dumb luck strikes again!

after you clean flashed did you restore power amp from titanium backup or fresh install?
Restored it from titanium backup but then I deleted it because it wasn't working. But it still didn't work. I tried clearing my cache didn't do anything. How do I fix the permissions on the app?

you can fix permissions in whatever recovery you are using...twrp or cwr.
best bet may be to un-install it, reboot to recovery, wipe caches, fix permissions, reboot, re-install fresh from the playstore. That should definitely get you running. If not, you may have a bigger issue other than just power amp.
So I tried that and it did not work. I am running beans 12 with blue cheez theme and the addon for it

Not sure what else to suggest. I've never run the blue cheez theme so maybe something with the theme is conflicting. You could try a clean flash of B12 and install power amp first and see if it opens before adding any themes or mods, maybe narrow it down that way. Aside from that I'm out of suggestions but hope you get it. I'm a longtime power amp user and would have a hard time switching
Good luck
I've dirty flashed Beans 12 and I use PowerAmp with no problems. I don't use any theme, though.

I'm on Saber and was on beans stock but I've never had an issue with any kernel and power amp(on any rom or device)
Just to be clear, when you are "clean flashing" you are wiping all including cache, data, and system correct?
Yes doing all of the steps. Everytime I click it to use it. It just shows the poweramp screen and then goes to whatever I was doing before
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I gave up on PowerAmp myself.
I have the paid version & have never had the slightest problem before with it in many different phone/rom/kernel setups.
Now, running the Beans ROM (v2)/Perseus kernel setup listed in my sig, I can't get PA to display the song list panel anymore.
It will show my music folder on my 64gig card, but on the screen where it should say "songs" that listing is not even there.
I tried everything from fixing permissions, deleting & reinstalling the newest version from the playstore etc. etc.etc. and absolutely NOTHING worked.
It's really weird because both JetAudio & the stock music player work perfectly, so I finally said F it and deleted PA and use one of those apps.
My son is also a long time PA user (he has a Galaxy 3) and he told me has gotten away from using it lately also as some of the latest versions where giving him annoying FC and freezup problems and JetAudio works perfectly for him also.
Solved....Just flashed MJ4 in Odin and fixed the problem, rerooted and did recovery...all Good, Thanks Mic and KJS....

I just saw this; sorry bro.
Let me have a look at this issue. Initial thoughts would be to ask if restored any apps from Titanium Backup, have unknown sources checked, and to confirm that you indeed can download and install apps from the market.
OK, it looks like you may have restored the app from TiBu.
Here are a few threads for reference...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379703
http://support.swiftkey.net/forums/...estions/2608744-language-pack-download-failed
I'll look into Zedge in a moment. But my initial thought would be to clear app cache and re-download any restored apps from TiBu, delete the app, and reinstall.
Be back anon. Please stand by...
OK, for Zedge, I'm not seeing similar issues, but the commonality is close enough. Try deleting the subfolder for Zedge on your SD card, reboot, and the app will recreate the folder needed on boot.

May be time to start from scratch with the Skunk Ape1 file, followed by reroot and re-installation of recovery. Then pick another rom.
Pretty drastic, and I'll try to see if there are easier routes, but I'd prepare for that now. Couldn't hurt.
I have an annual dinner I have to go to, but will check back later tonight.

I see you ran the Skunk Ape1 rollback. I did think that you had other options, but it's the cleanest. For me it's a nightmare to restore everything, but it just has to be done sometimes if you want a solid experience. I had errors a while back when restoring a bad backup, and my option was to flash a new rom. Things just kept degrading. Had the Skunk Ape1 full restore had been here then, it's what I'd have done. Inasmuch as you were on a CM rom, it seemed the safest play.
Sorry about that, but I hope things get cleared up for ya.
