So this has been happening lately...
I've been on Android Revolution and NRG's Energy ROM back and forth. Been using the Ruby Superwipe script and wiping the dalvik and cache too..
So the issue is, after a random amount of time, if I turn the phone on, its just unresponsive...the touch that is. It's completely random when it happens sometimes its fine for days, and then bam. Have to pull the battery and reboot.
Any reasons why this may be happening? Perhaps some app interfering? Any way to find out? Is there an error log or something I can access?
Thanks!

I'm currently running a rooted Sprint stock 2.3.4 and from time to time i have notice that the screen would not timeout or go to sleep. I can push the power button and put it to sleep but it wont do it on its own. I did check and screen timeout change to "never". Has anyone else ran across this issue and/or maybe have a solution?

um, to clarify, you have it set to never and you're asking why the screen wont timeout?
The evo changed to never on its own.

um, cant you just simply change it from never to like 15min or another interval?
Sorry that I was not totally cleared. My phone would randomly change from 1 minute timeout to never. So the issue is that if im not careful and check after im done using my phone, the screen would remain on and drain my battery.

Did you do a clean install of the ota? Because if you didn't then it could have caused that problem. I suggest you do a full wipe (after you backup) and then install the ota afterwards. See if the problem persists and if it doesnt then restore your apps.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I had applied superwipe and installed rooted stock ota before posting. Of course still the same random issue. However I will use RUU and go back to stock then start all over from the beginning.

Im using stock from 2.3.5.
Lately, without installing anything special im having the weirdest thing ־ suddendly without doing anything the volume of speaker goes from 100% power to 20% power.
In settings - sounds its exactly as it was before, on the highest volume possible. But every sound the device will make is very low.
Once that happen it can either go away after a short while by itself or I can reboot the device and then its gone. Till the next time...
Its happening a lot lately.
Im using speedmod kernel k2-13.
Im using it for a long while too.
I tried doing complete wipe and only used titanium backup for user apps batch.
Still, not working.
I thought at start its kernel related but no one else using speedmod reported such behavior.

Have you wiped cache partition and Dalvik cache in recovery mode after flashing the kernel?
If not, then just do it now.
Alternatively you should flash the latest SpeedMod K2-18-test7 kernel.
After flashing always start recovery mode and wipe cache partition and Dalvik cache to prevent most FCs.
Good luck !
P.S.: Have you installed an app for controlling some system settings?
Or maybe a kind of extended power saving mode or app?
If the cause of this issue is not the kernel, it could also be something different on your phone.
So, have a closer look at your apps and system settings, too.
I have wiped cache and dalvik before kernel change.
Also, the only thing new in my device is car home app but I don't think its related. I don't understand what else there is with the settings.. it seems like I covered that section.

Just sitting here working on pc stuff with the tablet by my side...
The tablet just rebooted.
No apps running, I had earlier switched from Webos back to Xron, and had not clicked anything except wifi manager to get her connected.
Got her back in... a few minutes later... same thing.
Anyone else have something similar?
xron 2.9.1

If the xron install is new a few reboots is normal.

Random rebooting in android is normal on the touchpad.
yea the random reboots suck. i experience them quite often on my TP since i installed 2.9.1. I am currently testing to see what causes it, so far if i turn off the screen by putting it to sleep mode. it reboots itself.
are you guys experiencing the same?
I been having this for a few Weeks now. I was using the sweet miui rom and thought that was the cause.
Installed xron rom but found it still reboots.
Never seemed to do this on cm7 i was using originally.
When screen sleeps seems to happen more often this way.
Sent from my GT-i9100 using Tapatalk
I have had this happen with all of the Xron and Miui builds and even some of the CM ROMs. I was able to clear it up by booting into recovery and clearing the cache and Dalvik cache 3x each. You don't have to wipe data just the caches. Once I did this and rebooted android it seemed to take forever to load but since then no random reboots. I have to repeat the process anytime I install a different ROM. Install ROM, wait for random reboot, flash caches and good to go. Hope this works for you.
Ok, it seems that SetCPU isn't booting up correctly.. i can't really say for sure, but when i manually run SetCPU (ondemandctl), I don't get any reboots.
For anyone that updated to webos 3.0.5 and get the constant reboot every minute after re installing moboot, just flash the xron or cm3.5 zip again over your nandroid backup.
You don't lose settings, apps, data, and no more rebooting on a constant cycle after restoring my nandroid after webos update.

Concerning the reboot each time the screen goes off just disable screen off animation under Settings / CyanogenMod / Screen (I have XRONified in german so menu item names may vary). That fixed it for me.
I don't know about MIUI but X-ron reboots about 3-4 times when it goes into sleep mode when you first install the ROM. But then it should go away. It happens to a lot of people. Just let it reboot a few times then it should fix itself.
Anyone using CM10, does your phone ever experience any lockups/reboots during or after a phone call? There's been a few cases where my phone would reboot during a call, and fail to make any calls for a brief period of time after. I can make or pickup the calls, but I can't hear anything and the other end can't hear anything. Rebooting or powering off does not resolve the issue, and it somehow starts working again sometime after I give up with it. It's been getting more and more consistent with the latest updates, and happens on the stock kernel, h0tcakez, and KKO.
Just wondering if it's my phone or CM10
All the jelly bean roms do that to my phone. I think it may be lack of an official jb kernal. Might be wrong about that, but I think I read that somewhere.

phone lock up
I have epinter's 2012-10-11 ROM for the Atrix 4G and occasionally I will not be able from the contact list. But the direct phone dialer still works. Sometimes reboot fixes it; sometimes not.
I get the exact same problem, and it drives me nuts, every time its happened the only fix has been to completely wipe the phone (unroot, rerooot etc. etc.) Driving me completely nuts. Also, the issue is present in both CM9 and CM10 and seems to happen at random.

I had one reboot during a call but thats about it. I been running this rom since 12/27...u might want to use FJ's kernel. This is how I flash all roms and it seems to have less or non reboots on JB. After you have flash the rom and ur device boots up, I go back to recovery before setting up my phone and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. It seems that by doing that before setting my device, . ...helps a lot. GL

No clue what the problem is, but over the last month my randomly phone gets into these periods where it absolutely crawls and almost stops responding entirely. Can only be fixed by rebooting. Latest JB OTA (98.72.16), rooted.
I have tried going into the task manager and killing apps but nothing seems to work. I've also frozen a few of the suspected offenders (such as Facebook) but no help there either. Cleaned Dalvik cache, booted to recovery and deleted cache too. I finally did a hard reset but the problem returned within a week.
How can I troubleshoot what app(s) are doing this? Is there stuff in the development menu that could be helpful?

try flashing an ota based rom through BMM. eg rage rom , jellywiz or even dwiz 1.0
Same here on 982.124.14 Vodafone retail EU. It's driving me nuts. Thinking of switching to CM10.1 to see if that's any better.

U may only find more instability on cm. But that depends from phone to phone. Best choice right now is stick based roms. Cm will take another 2 weeks min to get more stable
