Alright well I was on gingersnap LG 2.0 rom and now I'm back on gingerdx. I'm having problems downloading certain apps like the pro version of this app even though I used the pro version on gingersnap...I actually had to use a blackmarket app to download minimalistic text and now I am having problems trying to download recast weather on gingerdx..If I had solutions I wouldn't be asking. Is there a patch I flash with cwm that will allow me to download apps and take away that annoying your device isn't compatiable with this version error message on Google play store...

Hey guys,
I made a small app for me which notified me when Quarx released an awesome new CM10 build. It works for me so Im sharing it with the rest of you guys!!
How the app works: (You need to be connected to the internet )
- Run the app and it automatically saves the current state of Quarx's page :http://quarx2k.ru/cm10-2ndboot-nightly-defy(+)/
- Enter the intervals in hours you need the app to check for updates. (I gave option to enter only in hours for now. So if you want to update every 2 days, enter 48 hours and so on)
- press set!
- whenever Quarx makes a teeny-tiny change in that page, and the app has scanned it, it notifies you in the notification bar. Click the notification to open the link
- To stop monitoring, enter "0" in hours.
* fixed force close that occurs when it tries to scan for updates and the data connection is down.
That's All!
Bug Reports are most welcome!
Updated! Please Un-install old version before installing this one! (Uninstall not required if coming from 17th october version)
Sure I will try it during weekend

Ok!! Ill try to do that
Meanwhile I've made a small update to this one. I've removed the service that runs at boot.
Edit:
I can open activities that are in my own app but not from other apps
If anyone can guide me, please help!
Currently the intent I'm using in the notification manager is :
Code:
Intent notifyIntent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_VIEW,
Uri.parse(source));
where source is the link to Quarx's website.
App isnt notifying updates now since quarx deletes the old zip and then adds new zip. The app checks if the number of zips have increased. I'll figure out an alternate way to check for update
Sent from my MB526 using xda app-developers app
EDIT:
Ok!
Now the smallest change made by Quarx in that page should be enough to register as an update
Ok I fixed another thing!
Before the app waited till screen gets turned on to show you the update. But now, it behaves as a normal notification and rings when screen is off even (Thank you wakelock )
Nice work!

I used AlarmManager for the timer. It gets cleared on reboot so I used a BroadcastReciever which runs on boot and sets the alarm again.

There is a bug however, when the app scans for update and if there is no data connection it force closes
But it still works after that. It keeps scanning at the specified intervals. Only thing is you will a force close message when your data connection goes down during scan
I've already fixed it but I'll upload tomorrow. I'LL try making the app look nicer.

Could you make a version, where you can choose which page to monitor? Im not sure if you know Defy+++'s "Jelly Bean Cannon", but that is a great version based on Quarx's nightlies.

As we all know, Facebook for Android sucks. 1.9.12 was the last that worked for me allowing sharing, statuses, etc before the latest version broke all that.
The following link contains downloads of old versions.
Delete current Facebook for Android (if latest)
DL apk and install like normal
DO NOT UPDATE through play store when it says you have an update. You'll be back at the new crap version.

It would be worth mentioning, that many other older apps work in devices not supported by googlePlay service.
For those wanting the last version before the current UI layout, the v7.0.0.22.28 are the one and its the best. Its when FB added capability to post pix in comments and other features, luckily, before the UI change. http://techloverhd.com/2014/03/facebook-7-0-0-22-28-app-download-for-android-apk/

Thanks bro, this fixed a lot of issues on my Galaxy nexus
well it seems that version 7 works for those who are missing messenger inside the facebook app it works well, good for old device
I've just been resetting/clearing faceaches data and cache to bypass the messenger download necessity, yes you still get the soon moving to messenger warning prompt but still not using messenger and on latest release again lol.
Regards as always
I wonder why are they pushing the messenger app now.
They been doing it for months ;(
Regards as always
Just use google translate this site. It does have facebook 3.7 version which didn't request the messenger and the file size 30% smaller than current version.

Hope this help.
well i guess facebook closed the loophole fb 7 stopped working without messenger.... i would try 3.7 to see if it works

I know, but I wanted to update the thread for others who might read it so they know the current status of those items.
HTC Released their newest blinkfeed version, the one that can be found in sense 6, to the playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.htc.launcher
But it's quite sad that the HOX+ is incompatible? Any idea how to overcome that issue and download it and use it?
Yep, this is kinda weird. Notice that HTC's app is on the play store for some time now, but only has 3 ratings? It looks like it is disabled for everyone.
You can try to get the apk from play store. Here is one tutorial how to do it.
http://www.labnol.org/internet/download-apk-from-google-play/28303/
Nah, won't work. It is the true blinkfeed but the issue is that aits designed for the 4.4 API, hence us running 4.2.2 won't allow us to use it. That's why i was able to see it on 4.4 but i cant see it now.
Is there a way to modify the APP that we can use it in 4.2 too

I think HTC will be smart enouigh to downgrade it themselves. You see, from my point of view, I don't really want 4.4 that much as much as i want sense 6. I can get 4.4 from AOSP easily thanks to our devs, but I want Blinkfeed launcher most importantly.
HTC released that app about 1 week ago, which is still not available to all phones yet. I think they want to make every one feel how awesome their software is, so I think they will make blinkfeed available to all androids 4.0+.
BBM did something similar, they started with 4.2.2 and above, then one by one decreased. Now its available to 2.6 androids.
I think i will just wait.
I asked them in twitter this was there response
Sent from my HTC One X+ using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I guess Ghand0ur is kind of right. If HTC were to update the apps in our One X+, such as the launcher, the Gallery etc., 4.2.2 wouldn't suck that much.
They even have HTC zoey and HTC TV and other apps in the playstore but you can not find them with your phone.you must search it With the pc

I succeeded to get the latest launcher working on my HOX+ with CarbonRom on (4.4). It said on the market that my phone isn't supported so I had to download the apk alone from a third party app. I succeeded to have the basic functions of the launcher. App Drawer, widgets, home screens, home wallpaper, however
1- Blinkfeed was broken, it said "No content, swipe down to refresh" and swiping from the left side of the screen gave me a sidebar with "Highlights" in it and clicking the 3 dotted button wouldn't bring anything up.
2-Also when I clicked on the "Search" button in the app drawer the launcher would just stop working.
How did you get it to work whenever i will to Start the launcher there is a message that my phone is not supported

You have to have 4.4 , so download a kitkat rom(like carbon rom or cyanogenmod) . Then search for the apk online. I think we aren't allowed to mention third party apps that get you full apps for free. So you have to search for one.
I am on carbonrom 4.4 but it still did not work

It won't work, as I said I downloaded the apk from somewhere else and only the basic functions worked. BlinkFeed did not.
Anyway once BlinkFeed will be available for us I will move straight away to 4.4 . Can't wait !!

Why not just change your device model in the build.prop to one of the ones that does support it. That should theoretically trick google into letting you download it.
