first time i install cm10.1 nightly on s2 i9100, there was no prob...then flashed pacman rom ..was a little glitchy and slow.
So moved on to paranoid android..this is where the prob started... it keeps on bootlooping :?
Right now flashed stock 4.1.2 via odin and rooted with siyah kernel s2 v6 0.5b ..works fine
but if i flash any custom ROM it bootloops ,even with the prior cm10.1 that i had..
checked xda , did a lot of work but still stuck at square one..{wiping this , wiping that}
only thing i can find fault with is in recovery when wiping data says
Format/sdcard/.android_secure ..fail
skip Format
Format completed
when trying to intsall from sdcard it says
E:/ cannot mount..
tried different cwm recovery .. all with the same findings..
so please help me.. its boring to be stuck with stock ROM..
i am a doctor ..i tried but couldnt follow running SDK and commands ..so please keep it simple
or if possible publish a video.. bcause iam not the only one with this predicament...during my research i found a lot android users with the same problems..
Thanks

Thank you..ammar but as i have already said my phone works but with the stock rom...i end up bootlooping only when iinstall custom ROM
n the solution given in that thread 1. is to flash a stock rom.. 2. flashing villain rom but the download links are not working..
i think it has do with fail to format .androidsecure thing but what do i know?
again thanx..

also backup all ur internal memory data to a pc and then format your Internal memory from within the rom
You could try using a couple of wipe scripts by a guy called hawkerpaul....I think they're called 'romwipe' and 'kernelwipe'.......
Use the XDA search function....should be easy enough to find.
It may be that there are some 'leftovers' following the usual wipes (cache, dalvik and data) that are causing conflicts with your fresh installs.....
The above mentioned scripts perform a more in depth wipe....might help.....

i have tried that GS2ROM wipe and nuke scripts already, with no luck ... yes that runs bigger wipe but it still fail to format sdcard .andoidsecure
i think it has do with renaming of the sdcard{silly doubt when recovery states sdcard , it doesnt refer to extsd right?} from sdcard to sdcard0 while installing CM10.1,,
if i could safely erase that {.andoidsecure}, probably things will back to normal .. anyone know how to
oh iam not able to use install from sdcard option in recovery(formerly before flashing any ROM i was able to..i hav to install from "internal memory"
Again iam grabbin at random bcause i want to go bac to custom ROMs. .if any of sounds untechi ..let me remind u i am just , what do they call it.. a noob and i do apologise...

iam not able to find .androidsecure in sdcard {internal}..with neither ES explorer nor Root explorer..
i dont know if this helps but i tried to intall that int2ext mod once but it didnt take ..installation aborted in recovery..i cant really remember if this was before or after i started havin the bootloop problem...Most likely after ...when i was running stock rom
There those are all the cards ...someone please solve the puzzle...
hey i can install custom roms again
1.formatted extsd and usb storage{after making back up of course} in storage setting in ROM
2.in recovery : Mount emmc
Mount sdcard
wipe user data
Flash the custom ROM
and it didnt go into bootloop ...hurrah
Running CM10.1 on i9100...
thanks guys..
looking into dual boot with siyah...are cm10.1 and PA rom compatible? jumping the gun too soon..lol..

You renamed the backup , that's why it has a md5 mismatch .
Change the name back to the original one and you can restore .
CWM 5.0.2.6 is for CM7 , use CWM 4 instead .

why the hell you people do partitioning stuffs and backups if you dont know how to fix it and what are they meant.......
your pc as i can tell have windows install will not recognize ext3/4 partitions on sd card thats reason why its still 3.1gigs... to get that there is some tool
secondly you have no choice than flashing your firmware or doing some advance stuffs to make md5 match with the backup
my suggestion would be flash the firmware with odin and for your information you will loose all apps and all contacts/sms .... this would be good lesson to you before doing something wrong and knowing nothing of

Look, small advice, dont do things you dont know much about, right?
Right here, you just lost all your data because you tried to do things without doing a proper research.BTW,after you do a wipe, flash the rom, when you do a factory reset, your stock rom is gone,so your phone doesnt have anything to boot into...
Be carefule next time
Hi guys, I tried the stock leaked ICS XXLPH but since then everytime I flash a rom it goes through "installing applications" which installs the photo editing, Polaris, Swype and IM apps as well as some others that I can't remember.
Is there any way of removing this? a way of wiping everything for a clean install. I searched the internal memory as well as the external SD card and could not find anything.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance
You want a custom rom with those features removed Or
Remove Samsung Apps script .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108479
If the apps are on the SD card wipe the card .
jje
Why don't you try a custom ROM like resurrection? Most stock apps have been removed and only the useful ones left
Hi guys, that's the problem. I am trying ROMs that don't have these apps but for some reason they keep auto installing after the first boot of every rom I flash. I looked on the internal memory as well as my SD card and couldn't find anything that wasn't there before. I made sure that I wiped the data, cache and dalvik cace before and after flashing the rom but as soon as Android boots it goes through that process before presenting the set up wizard.

Yeah same as me, it happens here as well.
Anyone got any other ideas, its annoying.
I experienced this kind of trouble while using GB based ROMs.
After moving to the ICSs it never happened again.
Duh, ever heard of Google backup and restore......
Next time you wipe or flash new ROM, start reading what's on screen instead of clicking next next.....

You can disable system apps in ICS. I hope that's good enough.

Any way to permanently delete auto-install on first-boot, only takes a few mins to uninstall them all but its still annoying, Or would i have to check each rom i downloaded for the CSC.apk each time and remove it?
i never get those installation lol yesterday flashd lp9 ics an flashd back to gb my stock...
Those files are located on /preload folder on the root directory, you can delete those apps from that location.
Those files come along with stock Samsung roms, custom Roma and cm9 don't use the /preload block.
#*posted on the move *#
Root directory of what? Searched with ES FE and nothing found...
After trying different roms and testing different things i realized that a full wipe does not clear everything of your current setup.
If you use root explorer for example and just take a look at your folders and files you will see that there are many files left from older roms.
What is the fastest way to make a totally clean installation with a custom rom (cm9 nightly or rr for example)?
I found an older tutorial here but i think it might be outdated.
Is there some kind of script that i can flash before installing the new rom (that cleans everything but efs files and recovery files for example?).
Or do i have to get a sammy stock rom with 3 parts and pit file and re-partition with odin and flash pack to a custom rom right after ?
in CWM
under mounts/storage
format system,cache,data
then flash rom
Really clean install? Flash rom through Odin. Everything will be wiped.

No as you said it just clears data and cache, that is wiped with full wipe /factory reset anyways. And system is also just the system folder.
The other folders in your root will not be touched by this and will still remain on the phone. But i cant really tell if they are used or not anymore. I can only tell by the content and the creation date that of the folders and files, that a lot of these have to be from older setups.

What kind of firmware do i need then? I think if i flash without the re-partion tick in odin options the old files would also stay there. and i need a firmware with 3 parts to flash because you need a pit file to do that.
Ofc i would like to have exactly the same partition sizes as before on my phone if i have to repartition.
So i guess i need somebody who has some knowledge with odin and 3 part firmwares.
download the stock rom from samfirmware.com(after signup)!
flash the "md5" file using odin
after fresh install of stock rom, goto settings>storage>format usb storage and format sd card if u have one!
then u can do a factory reset again and you have a clean wiped phone!

Are you sure that a 1 part firmware from sammobile will wipe all the internal data and not just update and overwrite the new ones? (im not talking about the sd card, im talking about the system data that you can just see with a root explorer for example).
If you're performing a wipe data/factory reset alongside wiping the cache and Dalvik cache, you are performing a clean install. The residual files you're seeing are stored on the internal storage (the /sdcard partition), if you wish to clear them, go into recovery, mounts and storage, and format the /sdcard partition. Viola!
Also, wrong section. All questions should be posted in Q&A. Flagged.
screamworks
I attached some screenshots now about the files that i mean.
Im not talking about the content of the internal or external sd card.
Look at the misc, lib ,res or proc and preload folders.
Also the script files.
Some files might be related to the kernel settings of course.
Im trying to go on a stock rom now and call "*2767*3855# " for a hardreset and see if that works
EDIT:
Nope the hard reset didnt work, all the files are still there.
Where do i get a ics rom with 3 parts and a pit file that i can temporary install to clean my root folder? or is there a tutorial here somewhere could follow?
External SD not visible after new ROM installation
I rooted my galaxy s2 just a day before and faced an issue. After rooting I installed jelly bean 2.6 ROM(Resurrection and remix) and found my GPRS not working and then I did a factory reset, but unfortunately phone got dead and then I removed the battery and re booted after some time. This only restored 98 applications out of 113 in this new ROM. However, I re flashed the ROM again and all the applications got back to normal, but my SD card was not to be seen after this second flash, before factory reset my external SD card was readable(with the new ROM)

the external SD it's mounted on /emmc so, there are your files. You can access to this folder with any file explorer (even the stock one). Just open the file manager, select the "mnt" option on the top, the one between the Home icon and SD icon, inside you can find the emmc folder.
Well i guess i could compare my files with the files of somebody else with rr and delete some of them manually

Since you are currently running CyanogenMod, then follow these instructions:
1. On your phone
-Boot your phone to CWM recovery
-Wipe data/factory reset
-boot your phone to download mode
2. On your Pc
- unzip the downloaded firmware,
- flash the tar.MD5 via Odin

Hi all,
Was running CM9 rc1 with no problems then upgraded to RC2 then to CM9 nightly 20120804. Installed Siyah Kernel by flashing in CWM recovery and added a second ROM (winamlite). Now superuser says it is denied superuser permissions in CM9. It works fine in Winamlite though.
I have tried reflashing CM9 nightly which reinstalled the CM kernel which didn't help and then reflashed siyah kernel. Still no luck. Read quite a few posts and tried a lot but nothing does the trick (flashed latest superuser from CWM, wiped superuser data, tried to install root from within extweaks).
Can someone point me in the right direction to sort this please?
Thanks,
Max

Do you mean factory wipe data/reset? Thought this might be the case and was trying to avoid it as had just got the phone set up how I want it. Saying that I am going to upgrade to the stable CM9 so now's as good a time as any.
If I am going to go through with this, is there a way to completely wipe ALL data from my phone? Everything from photos, emails, old app data etc. I have done a factory wipe before but it seemed to leave some files and folders on the phone. (or maybe my memory is failing me).
Looks like I have my weekend planned out for me then. If only the sun would bu99er off and let me geek out without the guilt...
Thanks for the help.

So you wanna wipe your sdcard too? It's not necessary though it's of course possible. You gotta reboot in to recovery, wipe data/factory reset, go to mounts and storage, format /system, if you wanna wipe your sdcard, you click on Mount /sdcard and then click on format /sdcard.
After all that is done, now go to advanced and wipe dalvik cache and wipe battery stats.
Now your phone is completely wiped. Actually, wanamlite ROM would still stay. Like you said before, you've lost the ability to dual boot. That means that your kernel changed from siyah to cm9. To remove wanamlite too, you need to get siyah kernel (this can be done before doing the above or after doing the above) and then you need to boot in to recovery, dual boot options, remove 2nd ROM
Sent from my S II Monster
If you format /sdcard, 2nd ROM will not work since there are no data and cache images.
If you install WanamLite zip through dual-boot options, it will prevent from installing other kernel.
About wiping /data. After wiping, those folders will be created always when Android is running, cause they're necessary.

Yeah I totally forgot to tell him that 2nd ROM won't be there if he wipes sdcard.
However, wiping /data will wipe the folders and again create the folders. It's true but the new folders won't have stuff from the previous ROM. So it's recommended when flashing a new ROM. Correct me if I'm wrong.

depending on what kind of custom recovery you are using, you can install it from internal phone storage and sd card. Use philz touch recovery to have both storages available for you to choose roms from
2. If i flash from SD, will new ROM be installed on phone storage or SD card?
if performing a clean flash all data from phone would be lost as the primary step itself is to wipe data. Data on external sd card remains intact as long as you dont format it from recovery
3. When i do that, will all my data be deleted from previous ROM?
all data would be lost when you do a data wipe and devs take no responsibility for any loss wrt to your phone or data and so their piece of advice before you flash ANY rom or mod is to : Back up Back up and Back up. Use titanium backup to retain apps and a nandroid backup from recovery to be on safe side and stay away from after effects of a bad rom flash.
4. When i flash ROM do i need to again root my phone and install titanium backup?
rooting phone again is not required after installing custom roms since they already have the SU binaries included when the rom is cooked. Installation of Titanium back up after every rom Installation is must cuz itz an app on your phone memory
5. what Custom ROM's are really good?
again depends on what you like to see on your phone. If you like having the stock look on your phone and still enjoy benefits of using a rooted custom rom go for roms based on sammy firmwares. If you want to go a step ahead and have a nexusish look on your phone and be more open source go for CM and AOSP roms
thats not all. XDA has a lot of threads about flashing roms and recoveries. Do a lot of reading and proceed carefully at your own risk before playing with your phone.
Cheers
Well its so easy..
1- yup you can..
2- no it will be installed on te phone..
3- most of the roms are rooted.. but you can instal supersu.zip to root it or update the root panery, and you mostly will not lose the costem recovery..but some romes offer to download custom recoverys..
4- i think temask's unofficial cm11 is good.. and you can install omega touchwiz rom..:good:
