jellybean update for south Africa - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

as a proud new owner of a optimus l9 (purchased through vodacom) I thought that I had made the most economically viable decision in picking the L9 over the plethora of other options available. the scheduled jellybean update and the handset's good specs are what really sealed the deal for me and I'm disappointed in the fact that I still haven't the scheduled jelly bean update whatsoever... the official kdz file for the south African firmware has been posted on: lg-phone-firmware com. I'm truly getting frustrated by not having the latest software whereas I know it's out there and many are already using it... was unable to flash it using the offline method.. been trying that route for the past 3 weeks to no avail so the official OTA is my last chance at getting the update... has anyone in the region received the update as well?

Trust me you dont want it...

what makes you say such? I'm sure the smoothness brought by project butter is beneficial on a day to day basis.. overall jb should be a much better experience than ICS or is there something I don't know?

Trust me, i'm from south america and the update didn't get here yet but i flashed a kvz from Telcel, Mexico which has JB and the phone is a complete different one. I hated it on ICS, love it on JB due to its smoothness and better response to touch.
Have you tried watching some video tutorials? I had tons of problems trying by my own but then followed a spanish one and boom, problem solved.

download it then flash using offline kdz installer. :good:

after numerous attempts at completing the offline kdz flasher I still haven't succeeded. thus is the reason for me trying to find our whether others have received the update on my region because if they have I may as well wait for it to terrible down to my device... if not I'll seek out the assistance of someone with another PC Cuz the offline kdz flasher method won't work on my laptop...

oooooohhhhhhhhhhh..... that's what I've been doing wrong then... been wondering why I've failed at every attempt... I'll attempt this again when I'm at college (free Wi-Fi as opposed to using my own connection which is capped)
thank you very much for the help... I will report back with results in a few days...
in the meanwhile could others with a L9 P768 model confirm whether or not they've received an ota update yet

I received the OTA notification... I've even installed the update and can confirm that I am running jellybean.. it's way another overall... battery life seems to have actually improved despite what others have reported...

I dont know if it will work for you but when i wanted to go back to fully stock using the official online flash tool, i used recovery phone option and it gave me jelly bean v20a instead of v10b which is what my phone shipped with. Its not a great method as it will probably hard reset and you would lose data.

That's great. Thanks for the good news. Pls update here once you have done the upgrade. Can't wait to (officially) bake Gingerbread on the O1.
those who are interested to make roms, plz make awesome roms like void,devoid,cm7.
or simply stay away from it. because almost everyone can simply copy other roms and modify it and publish it here.look wat happend to sh**bread...
if u are just going to make normal deodexed gingy, i think andy will just update the .35 kernel sources and u have that here too...
OMG!!! This is getting exciting

Please report back on the following:
1. Speed including Lags during scrolling
2. Touch screen Fix
3. Benchmarks, so we can compare with custom roms
4. Any Bugs
5. Your thoughts

Why don't you go to lg service centre, if you can't update via phone?
Sent from my LG-P500 using Tapatalk
because i have devoid #froyo final+franco kernel and i think they will not want to do update. i will waiting for new microsd and restore stock 2.2.2 and maybe i will can upgrade it from LG PC suite if not then i will go at lg service center with p500+stock 2.2.2
I read that the LG service is on Timisoara Bd, Bucharest. Is that true? If I had more time I would go there but sadly I can't...

I wish I could help you I have 4 micro sd cards with me.
Anyways, update might be ready all over the Europe, because lg already said update is ready. it's just that online update is a little bit tricky currently due to low cache size. And they said they are streamlining the process for a safe upgrade.
People in europe should contact their respective service centres asap.

well dont count on india getting update support so soon. we generally get the updates last...but once its released elsewhere i guess all we need is a kernel source for our developers.

in answer from LG, you will see both LG service center location in Bucharest whee you can do upgrade to 2.3:
Electronics Support Division
B-dul DECEBAL, Nr.14, Bl.S6, Mezanin, sector 3, Bucuresti - Tel : 021.326.60.63 /64
sau
Diangi Group
Str. Bd. Iuliu Maniu Nr. 71, Bl. 4, Sc. 6, Parter, Apt. 234
Tel: 031-4284184
for the moment it can't be done thru pc suite
cause mine says latest version is v10h
It doesn't say that you can update your phone via pc suite, it says it can be updated in those service centers....
could you at least phone to the LG Service and get a 100% verbal confrmation from someone that knows what he is talking, because I suspect that lg support gave you a standard answer: "go to service".
It looks to me more like a standard answer than a 100% confirmation of the upgrade. I doubt Romania is the first country on the list.

[REMARK] Are LG RE-Making GingerBread?

This might seem crazy, but has anyone noticed that all the Optimus one official GB links dont work anymore?
most people probably already have the KDZ, but LG have taken it off their servers and you can no longer update with the lg mobile updater tool. And to top it off, the Update Notification app in the stock rom says V10E is the latest update.
Maybe LG are RE-Making V20?
What do you guys thinks happening?
Personnally i hope the new GB (if thats it) is like the firmware of the Optimus NET

i ran the Update Notification app a minute ago and it says 'Firmware has been updated and is now set in version V20D_00'
im currently using V10B here in the philippines.
I don't think they will be making more updates. They want people to buy newer models, it's not their interest to keep people happy with their old phones...

All the other KDZ links are down; i think, because i have tried V20A; V20E; V20F; not V20C yet. But all these seem to not work.
The main cause could be that LG simply dont think that their GB is decent enough and took it down. but after half a year of saying GB would come, LG wouldnt just say stuff you guys and remove European V20 unless they were gonna change it somehow
Thoughts?

ASEABK stands for South East Asia, correct?
does this mean i can use this to flash/update my v10b to v20d?
my p500 had v20d before (official update), but i encountered fastboot problem and went back to v10b... now when i use the lg update tool, it says v10b is the latest. what does this mean?
the v10b im using now has the country code ASUNBK which stands for SUN Cellular/PHILIPPINES

It Says V10B was removed, meaning LG dont WANT us to have it. They wouldnt take it offline after more than half a year of promising. The official update was online for a month. LG are definately doing something, or it wouldnt be offline.

Youd think Canada would get ICS before europe. guess were not getting it at all

Canada is getting screwed....not even a notification mssg has been sent out to us
fido and rogers both got leaks last Wednesday. Download the update put it on an sd and then use recovery to boot into the file. The update is smooth and stable. I got tired of waiting and put it on two devices. If you want the update check the android dev boards
system number is:
672.180.310.XT910.FIDO.en.CA
Will this void the warranty on my phone?

Yes and no. If you root you ruin your warranty however un-rooting is a very simple process. And since you don't need to root to install this update, I think your warranty would still be intact. However I would wait for any warranty disputes until ICS is officially released otherwise Rogers themselves would be confused on how you got to ICS before they did

VS99029A software update today 8/31/2017

Received update today, guessing just a security patch
VS99029A
Meh, this phone didn't get as much development as I would have liked. for me root is getting less and less important. Back in the day we could almost double our battery life etc with custom roms. It feels like the glory days of custom roms is in the past.

Bummer, just a security patch. I hope we get nougat since T-mobile has it.
Looks like nougat may be right around the corner. Update on the opensource website, nougat listed as 30a.

US Cellular = Fail?

Here is what someone at US Cellular told me over chat today... Who knows if they know anything or not.
"At this time Android has not released the Oreo software for the LG G6. Once it becomes available it will be on our website"
Still waiting for it. ?
I tweeted at them a few weeks ago and got an answer that they didn't have any information about an update.
https://twitter.com/johnWayne007/status/994088970312192000
On a separate side note, are you on 16b or 16c?
You could wait for the us997 version for Oreo when they release it and flash it I have flashed the nougat versions and it works great!
I have been on 16c for some while now. Battery life sucks with this phone. Some days while at work and connections are weak/switching all the time I get maybe 1.5 hours SOT. Other wise I manage 3 hours average.

?? Just got done chatting with their support. They told me the same thing ?.
US Cellular is terrible when it comes to updating or upgrading Android software. I once waited a whole year, year and a half to get an update to the next Android version on a device ?. They really need to pick up the ball when handling software updates ?.
I just got Oreo OTA pushed to my US997U today. Running smoothly so far.
Still haven't gotten the update on my US Cellular G6. Also there still isn't a kdz either.
?? Here is what LG sent me when I got in contact with them through email after previously chatting with multiple US Cellular support staff about the Android Oreo update for the LG G6.
