hi everyone!! i am a noob at this forum. just got an evo 3d and thought it give it a shot at flashing a rom. i had the 1.53 hboot and unlocked the bootloader using htc method. i flashed cwm onto the device and thought to flash some jb roms without success (stuck in splash screen). later, i had found out that with s-on, i could only flash ics and sense base roms so i downloaded the mwakious3Drom. it booted up fine, however, i could not connect to wifi nor the network. i did some research and use fastboot getvar all command to find out my baseband so that i can find a RUU for my phone. to my surprise, my baseband was listed as N/A. any idea as to how to resolve this? i still have my IMEI, just not my baseband!! i used the fastboot getvar version-main and got 3.28.708.2.
S-ON
hboot 1.53
emmc-boot
3.28.708.2
GSM EVO 3D
thanks for any help in advance!!!

hello everyone
I recently installed KingCobra3D ICS 1.2 ROM on my EVO 3D, and it was running well until all of a sudden it started having many issues of turning off while the screen is sleeping (it wont turn back on until I do a battery pull), rebooting, and wont turn on until I do multiple battery pulls. First I thought it was the kernel, so I reflashed the kernel along with the ROM many times, and it still does those issues. My question is, how dp I go back to the original stock Gingerbread firmware without relocking the bootloader? I flashed the ICS ROM, not firmware.
EDIT: I tried restoring my backup from the recovery, but the phone didn't boot after that
any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Hello madmajd,
S-ON as your phone is you can not flash boot.img(kernel) from the recovery.
Extract boot.img from your gingerbread rom.zip and flash-it from fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
reboot in recovery, do a full wipe
and flash your rom
sincerely,

While its true YOU CAN flash the kernel that way its not needed with HTC Unlock...
If u enter your recovery via fastboot command prompt ( fastboot boot your recoveryfilename.img), roms And KERNELS WILL flash like normal from the recovery. Here's some extra info I pm'd to another gsm user...

Some key points:
- The ICS /ICS Leaked roms (3.6/4.0) typically have trouble booting the stock kernel on several HTC Unlocked phones. This doesn't seem to occur on S-off phones. (Boot loops are usually a sign of a kernel issue).
- I am on a Sprint CDMA EVO3D & have no idea how to s-off your gsm version/downgrade the bootloader.
- I do have an HTC Unlocked guide in my signature that covers many of the basics for the CDMA version. It's the same process/steps for gsm, but the files used need to be gsm specific from the gsm threads (recovery, kernel, roms, etc).
- If u decide to run an Ruu (exe or zip), you must be locked/relocked & run the same or higher firmware version as currently installed. The exe will work with the phone booted to android or with the bootloader in "fastboot usb". The zip must be renamed exactly PG86IMG.zip and put directly on the root of the sdcard & boot into the bootloader.
- If the phone boots to the bootloader, you can use fastboot command prompt to " unlock" the phone again with your unlock code. Then fastboot flash the recovery again (4ext or Cwm 4.0.1.4 gsm versions recommended), then fastboot boot the recovery, run a superwipe (or format system, data & cache), & flash a gingerbread Rom or one of your nand backups.
- The correct HTC unlocked flashing process (ICS or GB) is to enter recovery via fastboot command prompt, format/superwipe, & flash the Rom (and/or kernel) as you normally would. (4ext Recovery is a solid workaround to using fastboot commands)

Doing what?
You might want to consider upgrading your firmware and getting S-OFF status. I have a guide here that can help.

Too late!
Ok so I followed someone's note to me that said I needed to relock the phone first. So following the instructions for relocking I did the "fastboot oem lock" and now I am "Relocked" but the phone only boots now to Bootloader/Fastboot.
What do I do now?
All I really want to do at this point is get the phone back working. I don't care about root as this phone is going to someone else.
Thanks

Hi
I think you need to downgrade to HBOOT 1.49.007 Because versions 1.50.00 and above have a restart issue with custom ROMS
The bad new is that you must spend your HTC EVO 3D S-OFF
I followed this thread to downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=17434661
Follow this thread to return to 1.49.007 version of hboot
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1906172
If you really want to s-on your phone after this downgrade, you can enter
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
in fastboot mode, but i don't recommend it
Pay attention to these manipulations and does not hesitate to completely read all the tutorials and all comments.
goodbye,

I know he didn't say that, but I think the hboot 1.5 indicates that he has a CDMA model.

ok
Thank you everyone for your help.
Was able to re-lock it and find and install through the correct RUU.exe.
Now my wife has a phone again.
Somehow well i know how flashed my hboot to the new 1.57.0000 and i want to go back to 1.40.0000. my device is still S-off, and says locked above that. Bootloader is dated 4-20-12.
Here is the bigger problem i cant flash any roms except the one that was on the there when i flashed the wrong radio file turns out it was the newest OTA. I had downloaded both to look at them and renamed the wrong one. It crashed before it got all the way finished. but i did get the new bootloader and couple other firmware bits.
It still is rooted but i get loads of boot loops when after i flash any rom.
this one works Newts_one_S_RC3_signed. which is a ICS Rom.

Im starting to think the boot loop may be a kernel that is not working with these other roms
Hi,
i unlocked my Evo 3d the HTCdev.com way, al working fine and in tried to flash a new rom through CWM recovery (LeeDrOiD_3D_V5.3.0)
Now my unit is staying in a bootloop, the white HTC screens pops up for a few seconds and boots throught to the LeeDrOid bootscreen, you hear the sound for a second and it reboots again.
I Already tried to flash the boot.img extracted from the LeeDrOid manually, but it stays the same.
Did i overlooked something? Did i brick my unit? I dont know...
The following numbers pop up when i boot in the bootloader:
***Unlocked****
SHOOTER-U PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.53.0007
eMMC-boot
Radio: 11.25.3504.06
What to do? Or do i have a fancy paperweight now?
I think its because you are trying to flash a gingerbread rom. AFAIK its not possible to boot GB on 1.53 hboot. I would suggest trying an ICS rom
So i installed Yoda's ICS v5.1 and now the unit only boots till the white HTC screen and reboots on and on...
maybe if you list the things you tried i could help you more.
factory reset and wipe cache+delvik cache before installing rom?
manually flashed boot.img?
i would suggest getting s-off to save yourself all the hassle
How do i install S-OFF when i cannot fully boot the unit?
Yes, i tried to install Boot.img manually through ABD, but issue still persists.
S-off isnt something to install. I'd recommend you run an RUU and get beck to stock. After that look in the gsm development section you will find a thread for s-offing your phone. It involves the wire trick.

Which RUU should i download, which one do you recommend? And i can do this while connected with Fastboot, isnt it?

I had the very same issue, see my post here for some help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897719
I think your hboot is the key; if your unlocked through HTC while on a GB rom then you are limited to GB roms, if you want ICS, you need to re lock, ruu the stock ICS rom, then unlock, then install the custom ICS rom.
I'm no expert but that seemed to fix my issue, i did take the extra step and get S-off, so i truly get full control of my phone.
His hboot is 1.53 which means he did update to ics. Relocking his bootloader and running an RUU should get him to boot into stock rom. Then maybe he can s-off.
There are so many people with 1.53 hboot having problems with every single rom. I didnt take the ota for this exact reason. Revolutionary hboot hasnt given me trouble with any rom.

I just checked the unlimited.io (JBear) website and their modified bootloader for the Evo 3D GSM on ICS is 1.53.5353 so it seems like they support the wire trick with the ICS update, but I agree that it would be better to start by flashing the ICS RUU.exe then HTC unlock and root before doing JuopunutBear.

Phone boot loops
guys please i need your help.
my phone always restarts after booting. its HTC EVO 3D GSM WITH HBOOT 1.53.0007
i have already rooted the phone but its on S-ON.
USB DEBUGGING is not turned on and i don't have recovery installed.
am completely lost cos am new on this. My phone has been out of service for almost 5 months now please someone should
help me cos am going crazy here.
I got a Evo 3D GSM with bootloop(restart)..
I tried flashing few custom roms via CWM,, but no luck..
CID is HTC__102 (GER) , Main version is 3.28.401.1
Help me to find the correct RUU..
I tried "RUU_SHOOTER_U_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.28.401.1_Radio_11.77.3504.00U_11.25.3504.06_M_release_262714_signed", it ended up with a UNKNOWN ERROR..
Please someone help me.. I'm not familier with HTC devices..
Please someone help me out..
make sure you have the correct drivers installed for your phone. then connect the phone in fastboot and run RUU exe.
btw if you want to run custom roms then use 4ext recovery with smartflash enabled.
Did you relock your bootloader before running the RUU? The version appears to match yours.
Also, if you currently have a custom hboot, you will have to run a RUU twice, the first will put the stock hboot on but error out, the second will work correctly.
I have an htc evo ed from sprint .... hboot 1.58.0000
radio 1.09.00.0108
relocked bootloader
as soon as the phone receives enough power to do anything it turns on and go3es straight into the bootloader / fastboot screen ....
i flashed a custom rom ... called blue or something about a month ago .... i've tried everything that i can think of ... i just want it back stock the way it originally was ... if there is any way to get back stock can someone please let me know ???
Use stock ruu 2.89

Do you have s-off or s-on ?
If you have s-off don't install stock rom. Now, when your phone reboot into bootloader, you can give RUU and install it in bootloader, or...try flash RUU via fastboot (really high risk, but i do that and my Evo works).
