So, I could only view my last 25 emails with the stock SGS4 email.apk, and well, thats a problem. So, I tried to install the stock AOSP apk files, but, now, whenever I try to open email, it freezes the phone for a little and says exchange services have stopped responding and email has stopped responding.
So, if anyone can help me a) install the AOSP email app or b) Install the stock email app (i dont have a backup unfortunately)
Thanks guys!

So I successfully rooted my phone last night and this morning I decided to remove some bloatware. Somewhere during my exploration I deleted a file which caused all the text to on my widgets to appear bigger and in red. I did a Nand Restore and a factory reset. I'm still rooted BUT I don't have my Market Place, GMail, I can't sync GMail. I go to "Accounts and Sync" settings and there is no GMail add on...only regular mail. I downloaded through the regular phone browser the Gmail APK and Android Market APK and nothing. I click on the Market....it asks if I wanna sync an account...I say yes and it takes me back to the home screen. Gmail...same thing. Help will be greatly appreciated
EDIT (7-30-11 @ 1:10pm)- I did a Nand restore, apps and all and everything is back to normal....BUT still no Gmail or Android Market

bro, you gotta go download the gapps package.
Get the zip, flash it through recovery. Your problems will be over.
Here's the link, even.

Awesome....thanks for the help guys. Everything is now running smoothly and flawless. And I removed the bloatware that I wanted to remove.
Just rooted yesterday. I was hoping to be able to use my Google calendar but the sync isn't working. Is their an easy way to fix this? I was an old thread in the development section but it looked pretty complicated.
I was on 1.4.2 B&N when I rooted with alberts 4.5 version and it is working great ... except for the calendar sync.
Did you enable it under Account settings? If you can't find that, try installing the Hidden Settings app in the dev forum.

Yes but there is an error message with just the calendar sync the others work fine
Odd, it worked for me (I've since moved on to CM7). Perhaps try clearing data on the calendar app. Have you opened the app itself? Perhaps you need to define the calendars you want in the app before going to account settings.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still not having any luck. The error message reads: sync is currently experiencing problems and will be back shortly. I'be used bussness calendar free and somnolence calendar I,'m pretty sure the issue is not with the applications. I downloaded synker but that gives me error messages also for the android calendar. I,'m going to keep trying eventually it will get sorted.
i'm having exact same issue as op. any progress on this sync issue?
everything else is syncing fine.
I was having the same problem. I could never get calendar sync under accounts.
I'm currently using CalenGoo with no problems. It's in the play store, and older versions are out there on the interwebs.
Another thing to try is to download the latest CM7 GAPPs package from the CM wiki ( google: CM7 GAPPs ---n00bs can't post links) extract the files and sideload the GoogleServicesFramework.apk (Not sure, but it seems to have given me access to more apps without incompatibility messages from the Play store and to have generally smoothed out some sync issues I was having with Google Docs)
I'm NOT on CM7 (tried it, now naively waiting for beta) I'm 1.4.2 rooted with Albert's excellent 4.5 version.

After using the v4.6 root I added two files the Calendar apk and the CalendarProviders apk, but I had to get them from two different places to get it to work.
I can share the files in dropbox, but I am on the NT right now and since copy and paste doesn't work I can't paste the link. If you send me an email I can use the Share function and I am happy to.

Disbable.calendar syncing even if its getting an error. The files need to be copied to /system/app directory and then you need to reboot the device. After reboot enable the sync options again and it should work. In the calendar app you need to then enable calendar visibility for each calendar you want to see.
Some new information... I just recently had to totally wipe my Nook Tablet and start over. When I did what I just said to do, it didn't work. Found out that Calendar.apk should be copied to the system/app directory then CalendarProvider.apk beds to be installed. I don't actually know if either of them need to be in system/app but this.process is what it got it back up and running for me after having to redo my tablet.
I'm also trying to sync (no success until now) Google Calendar after I've moved my Defy into CM9 (build 2012.5.29, kernel CM9). I've tried all sorts of things: flashing different Gapps (newer, older), wiping cache/dalvik, but all I could get was an error message "Google Calendar Sync Has Stopped".
The only thing I did not try was a downgrade to Froyo Kernel.
Any one has find a workaround/solution?
I'm installing a custom rom on a friend's Huawei U8160 and have tried the Smartlucky and Cyanogen, opting to go with the latter. The Smart has an e-mail widget which I'm trying to install with the Cyano but no matter what I do it won't work. The Smart has two apks, one for widget and one for the mail app. I've installed them both via adb, also from a backup and then finally I deleted the e-mail apk in the Cyano rom and inserted the two from the Smart rom and then re-flashed Cyano. I've also fixed permissions, wiped everything but always get a force close with the e-mail app and 'problem loading widget' when I try to add to home screen. I'm trying to keep everything on the phone simple and would appreciate any help sorting this.
The app opens and authenticates with server but then force closes - logcat is 'invalid package identifier' which as far as I can make out is to do with the signature, although I haven't modded the apk.. help me out here guys pls..
Hi all,
I am currently dual booting NeatRom Lite (primary) and RR JB 3.0.6 (secondary) on my device. I have got 2 gmail addresses, my personal and my work ids. I had never faced any problems having both gmail ids synced on my primary ROM before I began dual booting.
Once I started dual booting I thought I'll set up the secondary ROM with my WORK gmail id and use that account to download apps from Play Store. There were no issues with this method. But as I began using the secondary ROM more frequently it became necessary to add my PERSONAL gmail id as well to the secondary ROM. That's when all hell broke loose!
If I need to download an app from play store that is already present in my primary ROM (downloaded using my PERSONAL id from Play Store), Play Store doesn't give me the option to download it using my WORK id. Even if I access Play Store settings and set the WORK id as default, it doesn't allow me to download using this id and hence I am forced to download using the PERSONAL id. Now the problem with this is, once I boot back into my primary ROM and try to download any app from Play Store it throws up the [DF-BPA-09] error!
I fix the error constantly by clearing data and cache from Play Store & Google Services Framework and rebooting. But is there a way to prevent this?? I am tired of having to repeat the above steps every time I have to download an app on the secondary ROM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
After 2 months, suddenly since yesterday I have the same problem with SGS3 with the original ROM !!! No custom rom, not kernel not everything.
Only root.
Any ideas?

Yes that works, but in my case the problem keeps recurring and I'm forced to perform the above steps every few days. :banghead:

Hello there,
First post on the site. Of course its about troubleshooting!!
On to the problem.
I have rooted my phone, installed Titanium back-up and got a little finger happy uninstalling apps and bloatware from my phone. I thought it was a good idea to uninstall the stock browser with android. Without thinking about it there are other stock apps and services that don't function properly now that I have removed the stock browser (ex. I can't open a any contacts information but I can get into the menu, some of the updating doesn't work properly).
Does anyone know where I can get an apk to re-install the browser to restore full use to the phone?
Thanks guys,
Nathan
Any fruitcake out there?
Not sure if the browser is responsible for all those problems, but here is mine, android 2.3.7. Just push it to /system/app or install it normally
Edit: here it is

You were right andresrivas. The browser installed without problems but it will not open. It says "The application Browser (processcom.android.browser) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again later." message. I get the same message when I try to view a contact inside of the contacts menu. None of the system apps will update either such as the Google Play app still shows as "Market" for example.
I am at a point now where I just want to find a way to reinstall the OS/firmware if its possible. I am not sure where to get a file to do something like that which will mesh with my current service provider "Bell Mobility". Anyone have any ideas?
I abolished trying to fix stock android and just flashed CM7. Everything is perfect now. Thanks for the help.
