You could root and simply remove phone related APKs, like Phonebook, Conversation, SemcPhone etc.
Use something like SystemCleaner.
bro , yo can use both of them !
anyway do as first reply
And if you don't want to root, simply go to:
-Settings/Apps/Contacts/Disable
-Settings/Apps/Messaging/Disable
-That's it
Remove SemcPhone.apk.. Your network will go.. And no call nothing.. Enjoy ur android-pod(similar to i-pod)..

He wont be able to use wi-fi that way.
I also suggest to remove the SEMCphone and similarly the message apk
you'll get a lot of free RAM and can use it to play games as well

Hmmm...tell me what the POINT on putting the SIM CARD to your phone if your are planing to remove those communication app???? your SIM are useless if those app are to be remove from your phone...where is your LOGIC putting a SIM into a phone that don't have communication app???
using phone without SIM is better then removing those app....on some custom roms, wifi can be use while on airplane mode....

I guess our phones run without the sim cards....right???
and removing those apps would free up the RAM, allowing the phone to function faster!
And yes you are right about the wifi on airplane mode in Custom ROMS....MIUI is one i guess....plus it has a awesome music player
ASK my brother @aneel3692001 to make a ROM of your OWN choice.... he'll definitely help you
All the BEST :good: :highfive:

Did you sign up for samsung dive?
No...Can the unlock pattern be by-passed easily?
Try plan b from market.
Plan B from Lookout labs is a find my phone app that you download. AFTER you lose your phone. Thanks to the new Android market, all you have to do is: Login to the Android Market, Find Plan B and Install it. Plan B will start locating your phone using cell towers and GPS. It will email you the location every 10 mins. It works best if you have the GPS enabled already as the app can not do that by it'self.

Yeah pretty easily from my experience... Not sure how many people know how to though
Surely flashing a stock rom with repartition will remove it? You don't need the pattern to get in download mode. Sorry to hear about your loss.

They wouldn't even need to repartition... This is the only downside of an unlocked bootloader phone.
Thing is, thieves tend to be the lowest levels of civilisation, so will they know how to get it into download mode? Or how to correctly flash it in ODIN? Or do they even know about the possibility of such modes?
Yes, some thieves are smart, but most ain't.
I just don't want them to access my info...I rather they had to wipe it and keep the damn thing.
Will try the App also...thanks.
i guess you didnt install mobile defense or any tracking app to your phone. that's the first thing that gets installed to my device, automatically actually because its tied to my google account. so i can go to mobiledefense website and track my phone, wipe the phone remotely, etc. sorry for such a loss!

I use mobile defense, but I heard they closed off for new users. I don't know, but similar apps exist like where's my Droid or something like that.
Prey project is free iirc.
Lookout is and app that allows you to perform wipes, & locate your device also.
I've also used LostPhone(stop sign for app icon)

CHANGE YOUR GOOGLE PASSWORD!!
Yes I changed Google password 1st thing..Sim card was not in the phone, did not think network would help.
give the network your ime number and they will block the phone for you.

the network can only stop the activity on the SIM card (phone is irrelevant, and they can't do **** besides deactivating the SIM imho)

First I would like to appreciate the hard work Fusiondev has put into this custom built ROM & say thank you! Am loving it,so much better than stock.
I however have run into abit of an anomaly. The default messaging app seems to have persistence without the option of removing it. It also shares dialer app function of storing the simcard's pin no. thus if you attempt to kill it,it won't die but you'll instantly receive a notification requesting you to enter your pin code.
It would also have been nice if the edge/2G/3G connectivity notification wasn't tied to messaging notification sound settings, its a little odd when you have a voice notifying mp3 for messages then again you here it on edge/2G/3G connectivity notification. Can anyone confirm this issue coz I followed instructions to the letter when installing FusionIdeos 2.7.10. I used clockworkmod & didn't forget to wipe/factory reset before flashing. I also can't tell how many characters am typing in the messaging app.
Installing a third party messaging app like Go SMS Pro still fails to relieve the default messaging app of its persistence & causes message/notification duplication. Is there a fix for this issue?
Anyone pliz help! I re-installed FusionIdeos and all I get now is improved battery life, the prob still persists even after fresh download. I can't get into boatloader mode (something I later also discovered). It just displays a blue 2 @ the bottom right of the screen & I have to remove the battery to boot normally. Anyone help me.!
Have you tried uninstalling the default messenger app (using a system app uninstaller)?

Infact I'd love it if you could suggest a good app that does just that coz I have installed apps alone without games & all am left with is a measly 57MB. How would one untie the edge/2G/3G notification tone to the text messaging notification tone?

You could try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.danesh.system.app.remover&hl=en (always works for me). You could just try changing the message tone.

Let me see, where do I start. Alright that app means serious biz. I played around with it and it cost me my keyboard hence wasnt able to post here until now. As of now I have been through CynogenMod 7.2 found that it cant surf the net, has no list of APN list and now am back. When I used system app remover to take out mms.apk (messaging app) it went with the system keyboard. It was extremely persistent in giving a "force close" error right until I rebooted the phone. So I flashed CynogenMod 7.2, realized it cant surf then looked for an online pc and had to download a third party keyboard.
What effectively happened was my system now has alot of free ram instead of free space, its very fluid in performance especially with Go laucher Ex effects all enabled. I really wish there could be some FusionIdeos update separating all this ties within the system. I believe the reason why this ROM is so big is because of the language packs coz the CynogenMod 7.2 ROM left me with 142MB to play with but this one does only 67MB as of now. Is there anyway this language packs can be removed? I still cannot boot into bootloader mode
Bump, anyone?
Bump!

Yes I am able to.
As for (power+red+vol.down), what happens is, the phone reboots then remains in a sort of an idling state where nothing is happening,I have been reading around and now it seems that is what they call bootloader mode,if that's it then yes. Probably its idle coz there isnt a zip to update to. Is that right? I also read in some forum that you can flash clockworkmod recovery using bootloader mode with a custom zip but only in Evo,havent found for u8150-D yet.
I believe I can get more freespace if I can remove the language packs that I dont need. Know how?
How can I remove the language packs that I dont need from this ROM?
Da#n!!
Bricked my phone again!
I may a noob going through puberty (brick-phone stage) trashed my recovery menu, trashed my rom and ram, but am not interested in building a dynasty of expensive brickhouses (deaded ZTE blades,U8800s,U8150s......)
My phone is up & running once again, so
Bump!
Considering the heading of this topic, I would say that my problem has been solved by simply removing the default messaging app, therefore this topic can be bagged and tagged. Link2SD also solved my space issues dramatically... even my launcher 10MB is auto linked 2 sd and works flawlessly!
Hello, as the title said, my phone was steal this week, so I think, is there anyway to install an app from the playstore in my browser and it gets installed on my phone that if the phone use the gps or the wifi it send me a notification of were it is?, I don´t know if it exist or even posible after it get stolen, but if you know something, please help me.
Thanks for reading, and if you are a developer, why you don´t try to do this as a project?
The phone was a Galaxy Ace, everything original on gingerbread.
Don't think you will be able to do this as person changes the sim card and sets up new profile you are no longer in control of the phone..... If you done this before then you could shut down phone, find it using gps etc.
But not a chance now.
sorry for your loss

Can you see the system dialer ? If not try unhiding it. Get an app of the market for hiding apps, then unhide the dialer.

I haven't completely tried it. I did unhide the apps by mistake when I was trying to hide apps from the app drawer before. I tried to find the app last night that i used to do this but with no luck. Even copying the apps from the system folder to data/apps folder then installing them doesn't work. They are removed from the folder on reboot.
Sorry I can't be more help.
I know the apps for the dialler etc. are present, it has been commented on before why they weren't removed for even a non 3g tablet before.

You can root it with multiroot just select usb debug and click start in just 5 seconds you will have your Mega rooted. I already test it.
From main menu>settings>more>about device>tap on build number until it says Developers Mode enabled>developers options>usb debugging.
On your PC go to www.kingoapp.com, download their program, open it and follow instructions. This is a safe program and it works.

In the "Root Bounty for i527" thread, there is a list. Be careful because a lot of folks have screwed up their phones.
A good rule of thumb would be to go to the apps manager and see which apps can be turned off. If they can be turned off, then you should be able to delete them with no problems.
