Force install busybox in Android x86 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The title says it all. I'm using Android x86 4.0.4 in my netbook with the /system mounted as rw. I need help because I had lost my busybox installation.

Download busy box from app store, or if you have a custom recovery just flash a busybox flashable zip which can be found here in xda, just do a search.

Rom manager

Hope someone can enlighten me,
when I boot into recovery via rom manager it seems to be an older version of clock work mod with blue writing in which I get signature errors, however, when I boot into recovery manually, I get the newer version with orange writing
Can someone tell me if I can get rom manager to boot into the newer version?
Thanx

Isn't it available on Market?
Are you using a CWM and root that works with Rom manager ?????
As in post one Chainfires CWM and Root thread.
CF-Root/CWM4 is NOT compatible with ROM Manager! Manage/perform your backup/restores from CWM directly or using the CWM Manager application included with CF-Root
jje
Yeah that's the way I had to use it in the end, but was hoping to be able to use it through rom manager

Not possible, flash the latest CF-Root kernel by Chainfire (development thread) with Odin and you`re rooted (superSU, busybox and CWM).
Yeah just no pc.. I have busybox and superuser. Just on the s3 stock recovery I cant disable signature verification. Is there a way? I did this on the s2. Hmmm

Are you rooted now? What did the script say before busybox detected? su binary detected? Superuser detected?
Download BusyBox Installer it will tell you if a busybox is installed and what version it is.
Not rooted now, no root apps working. it detected super user, was going to overwrite everything except busybox.

alright lets take a manual look download root explorer lite it will work for the purposes that we need it for.
go into root explorer lite and navigate to /system/xbin and see if there is a file named busybox there (and also alot of other files like ] ]]) then navigate to /system/bin and see if the file su is there and finally navigate to /system/app and look for Superuser.apk.
did you try any other methods of root since the update?
retried aio, droid 3, and torpedo thru terminal. Ok, thanks for help.

I'm going to have to adjust the script a little. One more favor go into root explorer lite and navigate to /system/bin/su and then long press on the su file and select permissions and please let me know what its set at.
All nine permission boxes checked. No special permissions. Rwxrwxrwx 0777

OK thanks. Give me a little bit as I'm away from my Dev computer I'll adjust the script to handle this issue. The file must be corrupted.
Hey thanks,

Lets see if this works download ver 1.1 and run the root cleaner and then run the root function and you should be good to go.
This is the exact issue I am having and it happens with 1.1

Can I remove busybox with terminal emulator? If so, what would be the commands?

It can be done but the process is a little involved. removing symlinks and such. the script will remove it all for you.

Same issue here, it installs but can't use full app lime backup etc..
I'm now using clockwork recovery touch 6. Something.
Get the .tar flash it with Odin or mobile Odin, it's pretty much the same
Just enter recovery by power home and volume up when device is off
I got it from your drop, it installed but get the same error that I get from the cf root 6.4 package .

It won't be fully compatible until Chainfire updates it for JB.
Yeah thought as much, I prefer CWM in os, also I hear it's not compatible with clockwork recovery touch too
