I am from Winnipeg Manitoba, and am using Nocturnal 2.0.4 Jellybean 4.2.2 (not using AT&T Icons) was wondering what ROMs you all are using and if you are getting LTE to show up in you notification bar, currently the best I get is H+ I know when I was running cleanrom a long time ago and I was in Vancouver it worked (that ROM had the AT&T fancy icons...) but tethering didn't work for me...

First off, can some one move this to the Q & A pls... second, I fixed my issue... I am sure a lot of people may need this fix... :good:
"Go to your phone dialer, and type in *#*#4636#*#*. A "Testing" menu should pop up. Select "Phone information", scroll down to the bottom and under 'Set preferred network type", I chose "LTE" only, then back to GSM\WCDMA\LTE Auto, and I have LTE icon at top right!"

@Expunged Nocturnal 2.0.5 radio version is 4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03L as well, what does your SIM card look like, possible that its not LTE? or make sure your carrier has It enabled... there is a new radio firmware revisions you can try but be careful with those, there is a way to fastboot backup your radio, then flash the new one, that way you can revert...
check with your carrier first tho!

Definitely LTE. I had to re-flash the radio and the ROM. Then go in immediately and apply your fix. It is now working. w00t!

I need people who are on a stock ROM and have an Amaze from Wind, Videotron, Mobilicity and etc. I need you to do a nandroid back up through a recovery and give me the kernel so I can add it to the toolkit. I have one from Telus, but I need the other kernels so you can flash the specific one for your device.
When you back it up to your SD card, connect the phone to the computer. Go to Clockworkmod/backup/(most recent backup) and copy the "boot.img" and upload it here. Also tell me what Amaze it came from.
Thanks!

I thought you would need more than just the kernel image. You also needed to have the modules from the same build no??

From what I know, custom kernels need the modules. Regular kernels may need it as well. I will have to look into that. Thanks for reminding me lol

If all you need are the boot.img files from recovery, you're lucky Windows kept a shadow copy of my backup folder. (And that I labeled them to remember what they were. )
Both are from Wind.
Windmobile
Hi
Please find attached boot.img in zip - Windmobile Amaze.
Note that the phone (apparently it's only Wind specific) has a bug - it kicks in data while roaming even though data roaming is disabled by default. No end of hassle with Wind about it.

Not a bug in kernel, or a bug at all, it is a design flaw.

Although your solution is useful it isn't a complete solution. The HTC Amaze is capable of using Roger's WCDMA network's frequencies. It is a misconception that "Wind Away" is only allowed to user Roger's GSM network solely. So your solution merely prevents the HTC Amaze from roaming on Roger's GSM network, and does not prevent data usage while "roaming".
At the moment there are only three solutions to this problem:
1. Installing Data Controller: Best solution as it is essentially the same as having the phone work as it should. Although some packets still slip through.
2. Calling Wind to disable roaming: But you won't be able to make phone calls or send/receive texts outside Wind zones.
3. Disable data roaming manually: Disadvantages are pretty obvious.

if you select network operators to "Wind HOME", seems like it is forever forced to that only. Maybe this helps
You can set the network op to "wind home" but after a reboot it resets.

Edit:
Maybe this is it in build.prop

choose 'data enabler' from the play store, works like a champ. You only have to tap it once from the screen to disable data. And you still CAN make a GSM call if needed in roaming area, unlike making phone useless while roaming setting it to wind home only.
here you go, this is Videotron's kernel
Delete this lol
Yeah... I completely forgot about this thread. This is not supported in my toolkit anymore but thanks though!

Would it be possible to create an app/widget in order to get to these settings more quickly? I know I shouldn't have to, but I'm finding that in order to stay on LTE, I need to toggle having just LTE turned on and not LTE/evdo. With WiMax phones, there was built in functionality to turn on only that radio since it was a separate radio from the 3g. It would be nice to be able to quickly toggle between only LTE and full mobile network.
I'm no programmer, so I wouldn't even know where to begin with this, but this would be some much appreciated functionality - not sure if anyone has even thought about doing anything like this or not.
Are you stock or running a custom ROM? Some roms (like viper4g) have a toggle in quick settings called Network Mode that lets you switch between cdma only and lte/cdma...is that what you're looking for?
Sent from my EVO LTE
I'm rooted running Mean 4.8. I know that I can switch between CDMA and CDMA/LTE, but if i go into dialer and hit *#*#4636#*#* and then go to Phone Information, you actually have the ability to turn on LTE only (no 3g).
I thought maybe setting this number with speed dial would be a quick fix that would cut out some of the steps, but it actually dials and then places the call, and I need something that just dials but does not place the call.
There's an app called network in playstore. It allows u to switch between whatever u want, LTE only, cdma only, cdma gsm LTE, cdma LTE, gsm & wcdma.
Has every combo/isolation u can ever want.

This is perfect! EXACTLY what I was looking for! I knew I couldn't have been the first person to think of it. It doesn't show anything like the images on Google Play show, but it opens directly into the Phone Information screen that I get to from dialing the code, with the ability to change my network on the fly.
Thanks a ton!
It's built into Viper Tweaks

Most likely. Nothing in the playstore says anything about needing to be rooted, and the *#*#4636#*#* command has nothing to do with root. You can go to the dialer and type that in to get to the Phone Info screen from stock.

I brought my Verizon rezound to south korea in hopes of using it. It was unmodified, only OTA ICS update, S-On etc. I put on the Global RUU from androidpolice, but only ran it one time. (I read that sometimes this phone needs flashed twice, does that apply to firmware updates like the Global RUU too?) Anyway, got a Korean carrier, KT Olleh, and put in the SIM card. I have fully functional calling and texting in and out, but cannot get a data signal. I have the APN set correctly to alwayson.ktfwing.com. Any ideas where to start gentleman? I am a bit of a noob, but I'll try anything if I have the right instruction! Thank you!
Are you on stock global or on another rom ?

I know but im just asking if he changed roms or if he stayed on stock global. If he changed roms it can causes no data if you flash a non-global rom unless you use a GSM patch. As for getting data one time i put a GSM sim in my phone and it took a while before i got any data and i was on a global rom. Also make sure your data type is set to either Global or GSM/UMTS in mobile network settings.
Sometimes you need to enable roaming as well however I would make sure that you are supposed to be roaming.
Yes stock
Yes, I am on the stock Global. No other modifications. Just tried setting to GSM/UMTS instead of Global mode and still no data. Restarted the phone for good measure, nothing. Turned on Roaming, reset, nothing. Someone else suggested that the rezound may not have the radio for the data frequency band here, but I thought I read that it had 2100Mhz. The carriers network information is as follows:
Supported Frequencies
The mobile phone must support 3G WCDMA 2100 MHz frequencies. Note that CDMA mobile phones are not compatible, as they are different from WCDMA phones.
That is from the KT Olleh website. I'm stumped why its not coming on.

I can't get to the hidden settings menu on ICS with the 4636 trick. I can't find anyway into that menu for the ICS OTA release rom. I really want to try the WCDMA setting too, being as that is what the carrier claims to be on. ... Any other way into that menu on the newer releases? I tried the "Hidden Settings" app but couldn't get into anything.

You can try a different rom, almost all sense 3.6 roms are global based, Newts one XxX is sense 4.1 global, and any CM9 rom is global. I know you can get into the mobile hidden settings on newts rom if you go into suite tools.

Hi,
I have this problem occurring which I don't understand how to fix. I'm currently overseas in the Philippines and I'm using a Globe SIM Card though I'm not getting any network connection, my data bars are completely grayed out showing though it's full but it shows no signal type next to it. I know for a fact that my phone is unlocked since I am able to call and text using the SIM I have, but I just can't get any internet connection. I am running Resurrection Remix ICS Final Version (which I believe is: v2.7). I'm running on a Siyah Kernel and my Baseband/Modem is I9100XXKI4. Should I return to stock in order to fix this? Or change my modem/baseband or flash a more updated ROM? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

So, I've been running with this Flyhalf's CM 10.2 ROM for a while on Verizon's network and finally am out of contract, I'm going to be switching to T-Mobile tomorrow, I've played around with a T-Mobile SIM, flashed the GSM package and played with the settings. I can get calls and SMS to work, but there is no mobile data. Does anyone have the settings that I need to get everything working on T-Mo's network?
Download APN Tweaker app from market it has every mobile provider you just tap on yours and it gives you all the APN info to fill in.

Can't say on cm10.2 as I don't use it, but I noticed on my ROMs you can't just patch it for gsm use, its something that needs built that way unlike cm10.1 could do, I'm not sure why. As a test, try carbon gsm and see if it picks up data if you can't get it going on cm10.2. Or mokee gsm, either works.
