This is the thread for going back to stock, but I don't know if it works without a Pc. Maybe mobile odin is a possibility. Search for it, if it hasn't been asked jet then go ahead and ask.
Verstuurd van mijn GT-I9100
Omg no idea how to handle that topic so another question am i gonna be able to update my phone to 4.2.2 when its gonna be released with custom rom via settings-> check for updates? If not guess im gonna go to some service saloon to recover old stock :/
Mobile Odin.

At least expain me how to use it what files and what files do i need..... i dont wanna mess my phone cause idk how to use it some sort of guide mayby?
Want me to explain?
Ok, it'll flash any stock ROM you want by itself, no pc needed, only root.
More info? Search for it, watch a vid or something.

If that would be so easy for me i wouldnt bother myself with creating a thread here . I dont know what is flash and as far as i know i need some files to do that and i have to put them in some directory internal/external sd. I cant go to yotube cause my data plan doesnt count yt as free website so its charging me for streaming .So if someone care to help i would apreciate (browsing tons of threads with phone is painfull) so if you can help post me a guide if not dont bother to use reply button .
That's all good & well, but this is how everyone here learns stuff. If you're not prepared to learn, leave your phone stock lest you break it (I can almost guarantee if someone regurgitates 10 steps for you & you don't understand the why & how, you will have an expensive 'accident').
Or you could take the time to read the guides & stickies and learn.
You also need to lose the sense of entitlement. Nobody here owes you anything/XDA isn't like your carrier you paid money to for a certain level of 'service' (You're on ignore now, so I won't be reading any response to this).
Edit - Messing with your phone without access to a PC & not being prepared to learn a few things probably doubles your chance of turning your phone into a 116 gram plastic paperweight.

I would like to be advised if it is good to update my Phone which is version :
2.6.27-a5504199
build : 1.76.66.5 146733
Soft : 1.0.0.A6288
Is this one recent version, is this usefull to update to anewer version... What I tried but not working troughout HTC.com
I know I need to root my phone, but what will it bring to my phone as rextra features or speed...
So, please give me your feedback and if it were your phone what will you do... ?
thanks for your reply
if it were my phone i'd install modacos custom rom 2.9
thanks, but what does offer it more ?
it gives you everything that it says it will in the first post of the thread over at modacos forums. or here at the forums. i believe in you, you can read all that.

it is way faster. and has some tools. and is rooted.
To add to what all above members have contributed , I can say that
Modaco is a master chef and adds all tasty ingridients and spices to our taste.
sorry can we just take a step back a moment? (sorry to sort of hijack this thread with another question, though related)
can someone explain what rooted means in terms of these phones?
im also new to using smart phones, great phone, though when something goes wrong its bit more tricky to sort out.

you can execute commands as user "root". means you can do everything, including access every part of the filesystem, delete/replace/alter every file. wifi or bluetooth tethering needs it for example. also droidwall, which can control web access for apps.
ok i understand that. so does that mean i could delete things like the stocks n shares app along with peep and other things i dont need or want?
Would this enable me to change the colour of the menu bar at the bottom or even the whole theme itself? if so could someone direct me on what to do?dont want to mess anything up.
but also as buzjay asks is the new update neccesary?
sorry these questions must sound so simple lol just want to make sure before i go delving into the bowls of the phone.
thanks
- yes
- yes. ask someone in the themes section who already did it or find out by looking at their themes.
- it is not "necessary". your phone does make calls without it, doesn't it?
Hey guys! I got my atrix 4g around the end of may and i haven't regretted switching from iphone since! . But i don't know alot about android hacking, modding, tips, tricks, features, etc, so as you can see i need help. I was wondering if some of the AMAZING people on the android forum could maybe take me in as an "Apprentice" so that i could learn all the hacking and tricks about atrix or android in general , like i knew when i had an iphone?

How did you learn when you had your iPhone? In most cases most people will search and read this forum time after time and then they fig, it out. So my advice is to read and search before you want to start asking questions im sure somewhere on this thread there is the anwser you are looking for. If you cant find what your looking then you need to find someone in the dev. forum and be nice and they might will help you. There is alot of really good devs out there that are willing to help you. I am a noob too that came from iphone

Yup, read a lot, search a lot, and you will have to try a lot. If you follow instructions, most of the time everything will go fine, but if it doesn't, you also need to look for the answers you will need to get back on track. You will get frustrated a lot, but the best way to learn anything is to try things yourself, and learn by your mistakes.
There are plenty of resources outside of XDA to learn about Android. There are some very good guides in the Atrix forums here also which will help you. Don't expect the devs to teach you programming. You will have to learn that yourself, but the devs will help you when you get stuck...........if, as was said, you treat them nicely!
Remember to post in the correct forums also. You will bring down the fires of hell on you if you post questions in the dev forum, themes in the general forum, etc.
lol thank you both, if its not too much can i run a scenario by you?
you may well know that gingerbread is comming to atrix [:{D>]

2.how would i return to 1.8.3 stock

4.what is sbf?

1) HKTW is a Chinese version of ginergbread more or less (i.e. Hong Kong Tai Wan), that happens to be usable on a U.S. AT&T Atrix w/ a unlocked boot loader. It's pretty buggy, since it wasn't specially designed for our device or carrier.
2, 3 & 4) To return to stock, which you will have to do if you flash any ROM before being able to OTA (Over The Air) update, you have to flash (a nice word for install) a fresh sbf. A sbf file is a original source file from Motorola that upon installing (i.e. flashing) will return your device back to stock, more or less. For instance, if you were to flash the 1.26 sbf onto your phone, it would exactly like the way you got it from the store; everything back to "normal" and stock. So before you do this you make a backup of your stuff, preferably on a external sd card. That way if you have to flash a sbf file and return to stock for what ever reason, you can re-install your stuff with minimal effort. Here is a good guide for flashing a sbf, explaining what you need and what to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072
and here is another for all the sbf files currently:

I'm sure you have more questions, so ask always, and I'll try to help when & where I can.
Ok, so I'm assuming you are running a U.S. AT&T Atrix??
So the first thing you are probably going to want to do is get Root access (like getting a jail break on iphone, more or less):
- If your on 4.1.83 firmware (the most current). You can check by going to setting -> About Phone -> System Version. You will need to use Gingerbreak to Root your phone. This will most likely wipe your phone, so save what you can on your pc, ext. sd card, etc.
Instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046626
And Crap, my wife called and whats to grab a bite to eat... start there, and I'll edit and add to the post later.

This doesnt help me at all. I wanna install gingerbread or honeycomb onto my device. Nothing works.
That link will help you if you read the material there. Just the fact you are asking how to install honeycomb on your device lets us know that you haven't read much on here yet. Most people on this forum are more than ready to help you when you need it, but we aren't going to hold your hand. Read around in here for a few hours and you will get your answers and learn some things to help you out when you run into a problem.
Step by step
I did. I read it for hrs. I found nothing that helped me. I tried to flash my device or unroot it. The program someone told me to installed dont work and still I cant install non marketplace apps. I created a thread so someone could help not tell me to read. If that was the case I wouldnt of made this thread. I never done this before and I heard about this a couole weeks ago. Ask me anything about car audio n ill give u an answer. This perticular topic... Its like reading chinese so if someone could actually help me. My streak is running 2.2

hi i flashed my xperia ray with the ST18i_Official_4.0.4_Stock_ROM_RAY_jjdoctor i was on gingerbread 2.3.4 before and now i cant get past the cwm recovery screen it just keeps coming up and wont boot into the phone mode , any help wood be appreciated guys on what i have done wrong and hopefully i can rectify it
Can you please tell us in detail the steps you followed and what tools you used?
"I flashed it and it broke" is a bit hard to diagnose
1) I unlocked by bootloader by doing <thing you did>
2) I loaded flashtool and flashed <file X> I found <where'd you get file X>
3) Then I etc etc etc.
Then we can see if you missed a step, or did a step the wrong way around etc.
Cheers,
Tim
sorry lol was in a rush when typing this my bootloader was unlocked with the 2 probe method and wire and loaded the ST18i_Official_4.0.4_Stock_ROM_RAY_jjdoctor into the flashtool and just flashed , i got the file from the forums here i know i prob just done a stupid thing by flashing straight away but could really do with a step by step guide as im a noob at this kind of stuff or directed to a good guide , i also just restored the phone back to stock and its working again thanks to wotan client so i cant try again hopefully getting it right this time
right got it up and running with some messing about i managed to flash the xray kernel first then install the custom rom and works perfect only thing that didnt work was the phone data but will be sorting that out now or if anyone knows or had the same prob give me a hand lol
You have to add a new apn (Access point name) google for your correct provider. Ie Giffgaff apn

I got stuck a lot of times but i haven't asked about it... because I researched...
then when I get stuck, I repeat, get stuck again, revert then look for another process
It always pays to be prepared
Yeah yeah, everyone is new when we start modding their phones... but due to the age(relative) of the thread, there were already exchanges of questions and answers.
I bet you haven't heard or seen the help thread
Here's what I do EVERYTIME I do mods on my phone:
research (what files, how to do it, expected results)
research (fallback methods, including what others have done, read the threads/conversations/posts etc...)
yeah they do take a long time (2 weeks to 1 month)... then...
I executed the processes on my own, and boom! they WORKED
It pays to be prepared...
could you please ask you question at the Q&A thread and not open up a new thread every time you stumble upon a problem where your question may or may not be answered already?
First post, hopefully someone will be able to answer some questions I've got.
I've previously had an HTC Desire and held off rooting it as I didn't feel I needed it. Towards the end of my contract I found I was running out of space but still held off rooting it incase I messed it up and rendered it bricked.
I've got a S3 16gb coming on Tuesday from UK Network Vodafone.
I've done a fair bit of researching in the last few days on this forum but just want a few things cleared up.
I'm aware I have to make sure I root using a guide for my version of phone. How would I find that out exactly? Is it going to be a network specific version or will 'International' cover it?
Once rooted I'm going to put Omega Mod on as it seems to be the one to go for. Will I still be able able to use all the features of the phone as standard (I'm thinking more along the lines of the play store and other things that require a sign in)
If I ever get bored of it or want an 'unrooted' phone again (if I were to sell it, or claim on warrenty for example), would I be able to flash back to my standard rom?
What are the main benefits/disadvantages to rooting and installing this particular rom?
Is there anything that will no longer work after rooting/flashing Omega?
Finally, is there ANYTHING else I need to take into consideration before beginning?
Thanks alot

I will try and answer all your questions in the order you posted them.
1. Your device will be an international model so this guide will work and all the info you need to root and unroot is there http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
2. I am presuming here you mean Omega ROM and not Omega Aosp, if so Omega ROM is a stock Samsung ROM so all features that work on stock will work on omega. To find out the differences between different types of ROMs I suggest going to this thread and looking at the different ROM descriptions under different settings.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674286
3.See the link in point 1. I smashed the screen of my first S3 and had to claim on insurance and this worked for me
4. This is a question that I cannot really answer as I feel it is specific to each person, however their are plenty of threads on XDA that answer this just use google or the seach bar.
5.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656 It looks stable and there are no bug reports in the OP (original post) so yes everything should be working but just in case before you flash any ROM always make a nandroid backup in recovery. (if unsure on nandroid backups seach XDA and google)
I think that answers all your questions but the best advice I can give you is to read and re-read every thing you can find on rooting and such. Like you I also had a desire before my S3 and before I rooted that I spent atleast a week reading around on various different forums about what to do. You need to be confident in what you are doing before you do it and know what is going on.
That way if something goes wrong you can provide as much info as possible and and get more help!
Hope this helped
