Hi guys!
I am a total noob in androids and smartphones. I had bought Canvas HD a116 a couple of weeks ago and now I have decided to root it so I was following this method and got stuck where the sp flash tool was supposed to search for my device..then I followed the solution for the issue which was provided in the description of the same video. I tried holding my volume up key and connect my fone to pc and I saw windows searching for drivers but it failed and the error was that it could not find drivers for my device. I opened the device manager to see if its showing up there... it showed up for like a couple of seconds and vanished before I could click update drivers. So I tried it many time till I could click update drivers but it didn't and I got an error saying that it could not detect the device. I have gone through this whole forum searching for a similar problem but couldn't find one. So please help me I really wanna root my device asap. And if possible I would really appreciate if someone could inform the op (bhargav1991) of drivers solution link coz I am not able to post there and I think he might know how to solve this issue. PS I have tried installing drivers from official MMX website too but still my device is not showing up in my device manager.
Well the instructions are easy and simple and I have tried this many times.
It works like a charm.
May be you could try with different ports.
Think positively u will be successful.

Which driver do you recommend should I install before going through this process? Coz I have tried all my ports before posting this problem here... also the drivers you attached in that post I could not install it so I used official drivers from MMX site how to install those drivers? I get an error saying could not install the file type
This is what I got when I tried doing it again please help asap I'm in a desperate need of help :crying:
Start from fresh .
Uninstall all the drivers which u installed previously.
Than do the procedure again.
Select the driver accordingly .
Win 7, vista,xp also check whether u have 32 or 64 bit.

I have a windows 7 64bit PC. I have already tried a fresh start before and now I have drivers from official MMX website (they only provide drivers for 32 bit systems) installed on my PC.
Please guide me what should I do next, I am facing the same problem again.

download this software.. it will automatically download the drivers for you

I think i'm in huge trouble here.
last night i tried to port a rom through dsixda kitchen, followed every instruction correctly.
then flashed that rom on my canvasHD, it didn't work.
so i restored my backup through CWM, the phone started but there was no imei & it was also stating unknown baseband.
so i followed this tutorial to fix it --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_ksRQjlh_4
after formating it showed the window with the green ring, but after that when i clicked on download it did not detect my phone,
and now it's not even powering up.
is there anything that can be done to bring my canvas hd back to life.
now is the time when i really need your help, plz tell me what i should do .

Are the drivers installed properly on your PC?
I would recommend uninstalling it and than installing it again.
I faced a problem when it was not detecting my CHD too and when I checked the device manager the drivers were gone.

yes the drivers are properly installed.
the phone is not starting even with the battery attached to it, it's just not powering up:crying::crying::crying:

Give this a try
Dont worry just Carry on with SP flashtool way , it neither requires your battery to be in , neither your mobile to be on while flashing . take a latest version of canvas HD 4.2.1 official release , and brush it the way provided in flashing tutorial .

i upgraded my laptop os to a 64 bit win 7 and if im right i need diffrent drivers for the phone to sync and the SP tool to work I did see the 64bit drivers long time back but some how im not able to find them now so if any one can kind give the same id be obliged

ooh god my head is spinning reading that thread now i feel i should not have added the 8GB on my laptop and upgraded to 64Bit yes the laptop is real good and fast thanks again buddy ill try and keep u posted on the same:good::laugh:

Ha ha, actually we can install the drivers quickly with out all those steps... but that process is a clean installation of VCOM 64 bit drivers on our laptops. I recommend you to do that

You can find the drivers at the end of the post itself.
USB de view software is used to uninstall the drivers installed previously(installed from windows update or wrong drivers).
We install drivers provided in the post by following the instructions.

i just installed the 64bit drivers for win 7 from the same thread and now when i connect my phone my(just as a USB) laptop shows A116 as connected is this good enough for me to use the SP tool to flash what i want
Note : its working fine for me used SP tool and flashed CWM sucessfully

:crying: i installed chainfire 3d on my canvas 2 and it softbricked my mobile. i tried erasing data in recovery mode but didnt helped
i read all the threads about this problem on xda but didnt get Any of them bcoz i m new to all this android dev world
plz help and tell me solution step by step plz
i also want to ask will flashing rom help to solve this prblm? how?
i dwnlded my jelly bean rom but theres no scatter loading file in it

I think its because of wrong scatter file try downloading ur rom from other site may help u
hello .. is there anybody who can supply the correct 3 tools for flashing the stock rom of canvas HD i.e. sp flash tools, 14 flasher user ROM & especially the drivers. pls. help immediately as i bricked the device recently.

they need not be followed...just install the drivers..and you are good to go..

Pls. If possible download the rar file you suggested which is showing 11Kb on my download manager. Iam telling this because there is nothing to install but three file having couple of written things which are opening through note pad(sizes-4kb each). Also i must mention here that i m using a win8 pc. Pls. Man help......

yes it is only 11 kb...u will have to follow the steps in that thread to install these...
or
just Google All mtk drivers and download the setup...it will be approx 14 mb..

The first part is general for flashing in the thread where the driver links was given but i asked what the second part is all about in the previous thread. i dont know which steps to follow to install the drivers pls. dont hesitate & explain me stepwise....i already googled before about this & then start this this thread & install 5-6 drivers{but no one among them is of 14mb} but nothing works pls. if you use that specific one pls. post. Is drivers are windows 8 compatible or not ????? pls. reply man..my device is bricked since 2 long long weeks

I wil giv u a tutorial on how to install the 11kb drivers..
turn off ur device..remove battery and sim cards...now open device manager on ur computer and keep the window open.. connect the phone to the computer...it will appear in the device manager in unknown devices with a yellow question mark...right click on the device and select update driver... select update manually and give the location of the 11kb driver folder...it will update and u r done...
I successfully flashed the v5 stock ROM & as i knew the bug is Windows 8 but now my device is showing A116i & battery % is also abnormal. Pls help if its a weird issue

Yes the V5 shows model no. as A116i...that is normal...
and abt the battery %age...don't worry...the backup is still the same...
pls suggest me how i can download the correct drivers.

I also tried from my laptop but there is no proper driver for this phone are developed.

First install pdanet for drivers in PC, then try srsroot.
Still not Rooted !

I got the drivers from pdanet but srsroot is not working.
It is for jellybean not for kitkat :'(
