[Q] brick! No system,no boot menu manager, no cid - Motorola Droid RAZR

I was installing a rom 4.2.2 on system 1 via boot manager menu. installation is successful, but then something goes wrong. now my razr has not boot menu, without an operating system and without cid. Fastboot and stock recovery work.how can I restore it? thanks in advance aid.

Hello,
first don't panic
It should be possible to save your device.
First download the latest firmware for your region here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289
Then enter flashboot mode in your device and use rsd lite to flash the firmware to your device.
If the missing CID should be a problem, please let me know.
Good luck!
P.S.: In the bricked state, pay attention to your remaining battery, because often you are not able to load it any more

To be able to use RSD Lite, please follow the instructions here to setup the correct drivers for your device (if not already done)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34115398&postcount=2
The important part is the setup of the usb drivers

I partially solved by using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2194825 because now my razr only starts through 'bp tools'. now I'm still without cid and boot manager menu.
I do not fear the battery low because I know a method for solving via a simple mini usb cable

Give me some details :
1. Your stock firmware version & region
2. Did u use VZ JB leak ?
3. Do you have your CID file with you ?

Thanks for the interest. I have my cid on PC and I restored it with fastboot. But after the RAZR didn't start and started only the fastboot. So I restored the jelly bean EU with rsd and now everything is good.

how can i restore cid without having my cid file ? :crying:
i am on stock ota jelly bean, gsm, 982.124.14.xt910.retail.en.eu
i have root and bmm installed.

You can't restore cid partition without cid.img file. CID is unique to every device unless we somehow get a supercid.

what harms does my device have without a cid file ?

You will not be able to get the official updates from moto that's all
You can flash what ever ROM you like. The only thing that might irritate you is the CID error at the boot.

and my device is able to boot without BMM or SS ?

You need BMM to boot else u will be stuck on the CID error screen.

ok
ehm what can i do if i stuck on the error screen and will i lose bmm if i flash with rsd or a factory reset

About me, with no cid, RDS doesn't work.

Hi,
I have the same problem of loosing the cid file, i can boot in bp tools mode. Can you help.
I am in India. Andriod Version 4.2.1.
Thanks

You can still flash rom without CID. You need BMM to bypass the boot loader. What rom are u in ?

now just a clarification but is it possible to, without Motorola files, to unlock the boot loader our selves? Is there any coding work to unlock this boot loader on our own?

You have to flash something to gain the abilty to unlock the bootloader thru fastboot.

I haven't personally tried it, but as far as I know you can't. You are stuck on 2.3.5 until someone releases a new bootloader unlocker.

Point being is that I think it relocks your phone and does not allow for a downgrade.

If you would not mind can you please outline what you did?
This is what I did:
1. Installed regular pudding
2. Installed cwm recovery
3. Installed 2.3.5 for Electrify/Photon via cwm
Then did:
1. Installed stock recovery
2. Installed nopudding4g
After that I started getting the Failed to Boot 1
No matter which locked 2.3.4 I try to flash via RSD it fails on first flash pass when it tries to put the phone into BP bypass.
First to get my phone back to normal in rsd mode I flashed the sunfire sbf then to unlock my phone I used pudding unlock sbf then to get recovery I had to do the one click root then got the bootstrap app to flash cwm zip then I installed jokers stock rom

I assume your phone war rooted and unlocked. Now it's rooted and locked but you left custom recovery on it. To upgrade you need stock recovery. Since you must unlock bootloader again to flash stock recovery my suggestion is to run RUU, update phone, then unlock it again, flash custom recovery and root it. Of course it depends on phone region customization, cause there's a possibility that you can't run RUU because of wrong cid.

Reverting back to my previous stock ROM and applied jelly bean update
I downloaded Nandroid Backup from the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2210619.
Here I installed TWRP in my mobile in order to get my stock ROM back (boot loader again unlocked here).
in sd card TWRP folder I copied these files. in sd card root folder I copied MissingGoogleApps.zip and STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip.
in TWRP recovery mode I restored Nandriod backup files and flashed MissingGoogleApps.zip successfully. But when I tried to flash STOCK_recovery.img_Installer.zip its failed. i extract recovery.img file from this zip. Then in fastboot mode I flashed this recovery.img file.
Then again I relocked the phone and rebooted. Now phone is started with my stock ROM.
Getting official JB update
here I followed below procedure.
1. Unlock Bootloader.
2. Flash Stock Recovery : Tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...26&postcount=2
Use the stock recovery.img attached here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...20&postcount=1
3. Recheck for Software Update and Download the update.
again i relocked the phone and applied the update.
Now everything ok.

How can I restore my hox+ if I have a backup. I found one (I have less than 10 Posts, so I can't post links) for vodafone, but dont know how to restore it.

Maybe Unroot and try.......
You must first flash the stock recovery and then relock bootloader using the command "fastboot oem lock" in fastboot. The stock recovery.img can be flashed using the fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" where "recovery.img" is replaced with whatever your recovery name is and .img. Make sure you flash the recovery before relocking. Root should not mess up the update although you will lose root after the update. I updated while the device was still rooted!

It's not the unrooting that will cause you to lose any data or other content on your device. It is the re-unlocking of the bootloader or the running of a RUU. AFAIK, there is no way to keep your device contents while you update the radio and hboot. The only option is to backup contents of SD, backup apps using Google or TiBU, and backup sms and call log. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure this is how it goes. With that being said, it is not mandatory that you upgrade the radio/hboot in order to install a ROM that is sense 5/JB 4.2.2. There are already ROM's out there for AT&T built on this base

If I unroot and install the OTA, and then unlock the bootloader again, with it keep the updated firmware or drop back to factory?
If I'm going through all this trouble, maybe I should be looking at a custom ROM. Any suggestions for a Sense 5 one built on AT&T? I haven't seen one for this phone.

If you update via the OTA then your factory firmware WILL be updated. Maybe you can request that a dev make a ROM that is stock and rooted sense5/JB 4.2.2, you might grab the interest of someone.. That way you could have a "stock" image of the ROM and avoid the radio/hboot upgrade. Otherwise, you will just have to go through the update process, wiping your device. IMO, backing everything up is not too painstaking and it is a good practice to do this periodically anyways. Just my .02!

Backing up isn't too difficult on JB. I've done it manually as well as with Helium and other apps throughout the rooting/experimenting process. It's been my experience that those app backups don't restore properly and I'm left starting over anyway. The issues could be app specific, but I honestly don't remember which apps didn't work now.
Of course, I suppose it's all a small price to pay to have a phone that actually works when I connect my BT headset.
Where does one find the stock recovery?
I hope this isn't silly, but I've been running custom recovery forever and I'm blanking as to where to locate/d-load the stock recovery.
thanks!

OK, well after dusting off the cobwebs and reading some threads for the Intl version I learned this... the stock firmware will also contain the radios and stock recovery. So now I'm looking for the correct firmware to match my phone's CID and Modelid. The command to dump these variables out is 'fastboot getvar all'
My AT&T OneX+ reported this:
(bootloader) modelid: PM6310000
(bootloader) cidnum: CWS__001
There's a txt file in the firmware.zip that will contain a list of the applicable CID numbers the firmware can apply to. Evidently since our phones are S-on an entry in the list must correspond to the device's reported CID.
So now I'm searching for an updated firmware.zip
You can find the stock rom here as found in this thread.
